I was so upset I did not even see what vendor it was but they type of food was Korean snack food. I stood there at the counter to order and watched as the two workers there came back and forth and would not take my order. If was when they started to order from other people around me that I just walked away. I'm utterly appalled that my first racist experience in Texas was at this establishment. I'm totally digging the new H Mart. A bit of a drive for us, but Ranch 99 is equally as far so we don't mind the drive too much. Everything is nice, shiny, new and for the most part organized. They have a home goods store to the right as you walk in where you can find some nifty Korean goods that you may not find elsewhere. There is also two Korean cosmetic stores, a yogurt shop, a french bakery, as well as several restaurants in the food court with foods ranging from Korean, Japanese, to Vietnamese cuisine. It's set up Korean cafeteria style so it can be a bit confusing when you first order. You look at the menu being offered at each stand and then order at one single place and pay for your food. Then just wait for your number to called at the food stall that your food is being made from.A bit confusing, but I think it may be a bit more economical and efficient for them. Now for the food: It was surprisingly good. We ordered from several places and the price was quite affordable. My favorite dish was the one I had ordered, the oyster pancake. It the best I've had anywhere. It was crispy but still a bit doughy inside with the right amount of oysters throughout. According to my friends, the other foods were pretty good. One dish (beef jjigae soup) was a bit spicy, a bit more than what we are used to in Korean food, so if you can't handle too much spice I would advise the cashier beforehand. For the grocery store, I had purchased quite a few items my first trip. I was amazed at the selection. They had lots of fresh produce, many which you cannot find at other Asian stores. I purchased a lot of Korean foods to try out and so far none have disappointed me. There was a bit of confusion as far as the signs posted around the stores for their weekly sales. I believe some of them were misplaced; with some of them being placed near the wrong item. As far as selection goes, they have many brands to choose from and offer many other Asian foods (besides Korean). The had a good selection of pre-made items that we enjoyed eating for for our packed lunches during the week. Went here today to finally check it out... It reminded me of the old Super Walmarts of the late 80s and early 90s with the food court, indie shops and then the grocery store. I am going to need to come back here because I can spend hours in this place trying to find new things to eat. The food court was a bit confusing, and looked/smelled good, but when I realized you order in one central location, I was over it and proceeded to roam the store. This location is extremely clean, which is rare for an Asian store. I love the lighting and atmosphere in this H Mart compared to the older one. The best part is that the restaurant section is in the same area as the small shops, so people are able to browse in novelty stores while waiting for food to be made. I think there's more restaurants here compared to the Carrollton location, and they also have appealing displays of the food for you to see. Overall, there's a wide variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, meats, and fish. There's definitely more vegetable and fish options here compared to the usual grocery store, and sometimes there will be someone cutting a fresh tuna in the aisle and packaging them for you to buy. The employees love to talk and push samples here, so feel free to stuff yourself and give in to the sales and specials that are available. The only downfall here is that there's only one main path to walk through the store. The employees force you to come in one door and leave through the other, so they indirectly make you walk through the entire store. It's an inconvenience if you're in the back of the store and done shopping, but that's me being picky because the store isn't too large. Definitely come here to visit if you're in the area! THIS review Is for the FOOD COURT! Wow, this food court is something else I've never seen in my life. They have Vietnamese food, Japanese food, Korean food, Korean snacks, and Chinese food. Buuuuutttt, as I looked closer, I almost laughed. What they call Chinese food is really Korean Chinese food, not authentic Chinese food. Things like Jjajang-myun /black bean noodles or jjam ppong/spicy seafood noodle. The Japanese food too, I think it's not authentic Japanese, but rather, Korean Japanese food. Don't know about the Vietnamese pho, from the looks of it, they look pretty authentic Vietnamese food. We ordered some Korean food, fried dumplings (really tasty!! 10 pieces for $5) and ordered some Galbi/ribs. Darn, the Galbi took more than 25 min to arrive. The Banchan was really pathetic...I paid $14 or $15 to get a plate of Galbi, a bowl of rice and 3 little banchan (side dishes)!!! Dang. At a real restaurant, we would have gotten 8 Texas-size banchan with that kind of price. Having said that, the first time the Galbi entered my mouth, I said "Holy cow"!!!!!! I actually never tasted a Galbi as good as that in my whole life!!! the best Galbi I ever ate! My head was giddy with pleasure....it seemed at the time, in that place, I entered Galbi heaven. The meat was very tender, moist, the taste was OK with just right amount of salt and sugar (and whatever else), and....the sear!!! The sear was the thing that nailed it for me. I am always a big fan of charred meat, but this kind of thing has to be done correctly. A little off and it would ruin ALL taste, texture, and smell. Don't know about their consistency, though. I will have to try it again to see if the Galbi has consistent quality from time to time. The food court also sells Korean snacks...dang...the only place I've seen which serves Odaeng (fish cake) soup in DFW area. I have only seen this food sold on Seoul streets, so to see it sold at the food court is nice. They also sell ddeok bokki (spicy fish cake), another common Seoul street delicacy. read more

Variety wise, it's okay. Not as much as the Carrollton shop, but enough that you aren't disappointed with not finding most of what you were looking for. Clean, but a little cramped. I saw such cool stuff here. I also bought some back support for my care for about $4. Huge thank you to H Mart, I had previously gotten some from online for actually a dollar more. They have everything from cuttie Kpop type posters and blankets to $300 rice steamers. What I really enjoyed was the food market that they had in there too. You got to experience a bunch of different types of food. Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Vietnamese. The food was normal price but you did get a lot of food when you went. The romen looked really good and I am going to get that next time. When going through to Oklahoma I now make this a regular stop on my way. And yes, they even have all the weird crazy ancient Chinese secret stuff here too! I am writing just about the large grocery store here. Every time I review an Asian grocery I always say it's the best I've ever been to. Well, guess what? This is the best I've ever been to. Their fresh mushroom selection completely amazed me. This is the place to go if you need to find an obscure mushroom. The produce section was well stocked. I noticed they didn't have the selection of some items, like eggplant, that other Asian groceries have. They do excel at the selection of dim sum / steam buns / pot stickers I've ever seen. If you can't find what you're looking for here you may have to book a flight. In their seafood section they offer live mussels, clams, and oysters as well as live geoduck. Again amazing. Definitely stop by if you're passing close by as just walking through the store is a treat in itself. I guarantee you won't leave empty handed. read more

This H-Mart is brand new and much closer to my home in Dallas than the one in Carrolton. The prices are good as far as any Asian market goes and the selection is great. They often have fresh seafood and goods that other stores don't carry. There's always sales on random items every week so for you coupon clippers, check back often cause it changes all the time. The store is clean and they even have a bakery section so you can get your asian baked goods. I often drop by here and stock up on fresh seafood and bring it back to Austin. read more

I love love love H Mart! It's really far from where I live but I make the drive because it's worth it. H Mart is a grocery store filled with all foods for Japanese, Chinese, Korean and American cooking. They have a bakery that sells tasty pastries, coffee and smoothies. The pastries are a bit over priced for my budget at an average of $2.50 each. We have sampled some of the pastries and purchased a few. The bread is soft and custard perfectly sweet. The fresh produce section is amazing. You can find all exotic fruits and veggies. They have a well stocked herb section too. Most grocery stores like Tom Thumb and Kroger do have fruits and veggies this large and we'll stocked. I've never seen such huge red bell peppers in my life. They looked like softballs. They also have red, yellow and orange bell peppers. I almost never find that in a grocery store. You'll find different varieties of bok choy and so much more. They like to give out samples. You will find people handing them out at the end of nearly every aisle. We've discovered new foods this way. They have so many varieties of sauces, rice, desserts and more. You really can spend hours discovering new foods and flavors. The seafood is awesome. We had tuna cut for our sushi. It was fresh. I recommend you ask for them to cut it. We have purchased the pre cut tuna and it was fresh once and tasted fishy a second time. We learned how to make sushi and have now found a place to buy everything in one place. I guess I will post my review on this H Mart site (since there are 2 for the exact same store). This is a new location and it feels that way on the inside. There is a food court and all of the Korean groceries you could ever want. And it's right off the 75, so the location is very convenient. They also have a good amount of stuff you would find in an American grocery store. The produce is usually cheaper here and of course Asian goods. We love their pre-made sides and pre-marinated meat. So cheap and so easy to prepare. They have a decent selection of sushi, but I have tried it a few times and am not impressed. read more

Welcome to H Mart! A world of Korean/Asian grocery, prepared foods, food court, cosmetics and so much more. Walking into this market was so overwhelming. There was so much to look at. When I first walked in, there was a bakery that lured me in. They had fresh baked breads, pastries and cakes. Next to the bakery, there was a produce and prepared food sections. The produce section was gigantic! There are fresh produce that ranged from Asian fruits and vegetables to your ordinary types of fruits and vegetables. There are lots of demo tables that offer samples. The prepared section was huge as well. There are many variety of kim chee to other types of picked Korean vegetables and cooked foods. Also, there are raw marinated meats to purchase. Samples were offered as well. My sister bought some raw marinated beef, Korean sushi, kim chee and Korean cellophane noodles. We brought it home to eat for dinner. Everything was tasty and delicious! We enjoyed everything! The other sections of the store offered other types of Korean/Asian groceries such as noodles, rice, snacks, can and jar foods and so much more. There are also a fresh seafood and meat section. My initial thought is this: How can you NOT have Calbee Hot & Spicy chips!? That's one of the most 'treasured' snacks in ALL of Asia, so how H Mart doesn't decide to stock this is beyond me, Ladies and Gentlemen! Anywho!! The location is immaculate and orderly. I love, and appreciate the fine touches, such as the Korean Bakery, Deli, and the "Asian T-Mobile" store! Ha!! They virtually have everything you would ever need at competitive prices. I actually love this place. But I bought chicken here. I immediately put it in my freezer. I thawed them in the fridge, opened them slightly frozen and they stuck one piece of old chicken in the bottom on not one but two packages of chicken thighs, spoiling them entire lot by cross contamination. Honestly, I'm leery of buying chicken here now. They put "pretty and fresh" chicken over the bad. I could have made my entire family REALLY sick. I'll tell you this-I dreaded going to the Hmart Carrollton location. The parking lot there sucks, store aisles are crowded, and workers are rude. I refused to go unless I was going to be eating nearby. The Plano location is a sigh of relief. The parking lot is worry free. The aisles aren't crowded. The workers are a little nicer. So far we love the cafe-great if you want quick Asian food. We often get the hard to find, jajamyung (regular or seafood), kimbap, and soups. All are good for the price. H Mart is hands down my favorite market, and I definitely prefer this location over the one down in Carrollton. Like pretty much every other H Mart in the country, this one is located smack dab in the center of an Asian strip mall, complete with a martial arts dojo, a Korean BBQ restaurant, a bakery, and a hair salon. Unlike a lot of the other locations, however, there is no struggle to find parking nor are the aisles of the store horribly congested. H Mart always has a wide selection of items that are difficult to find elsewhere especially for cooking and preparing Korean food. I wish this store had a wider selection of kitchen and home goods, though. read more

Rude cashiers. They always have a stuck up attitude and are short with the customer. My elderly mom was taking out coins to pay and the cashier aggressively snatched them from her hand (and no she wasn't digging and holding up the line, just taking coins out). Calm the * down. You're more likely to get reprimanded for being rude than have the interaction be a couple seconds longer. What's the rush? Commissioned? I never understand people who are so inflexible with a free rewards (shopping data logger) card; where I supply my shopping data for free. I forgot my card, and can't believe they said no they can't look up by phone number. Just scan your damn card you have; otherwise would you rather the hassle of signing up another one then and there?! Use your common sense. Cashiers need to be retrained. read more

I give 4 stars because I love grocery here , the shopping mall is really good, but there food court is with the worst service. Their cashier lady are with such poker face, they won't response you even u say thank you to them with such a smile face. When I ask them do they have sea food fried rice they only replied one word: "number", because you have to order by item number. Usually I tolerate bad service if they have nice food, but unluckily they don't have that even. I was having some naengmyeon in Plano and asked the proprietor where I could find a good Korean supermarket in the area. She recommended H-Mart and everything changed. I lived in Seoul for about five years and after about 1,000 days back in my home country- the one that elects extras from Home Alone 2 for president- I felt an insatiable pull to procure some authentic Korean products and foodstuffs. Upon entering for the first time I went to the right and found myself transported back to my Yeongdeungpo neighborhood mart. Myriad rice cookers, Korean chopsticks (flat, metal, best), and a variety of generally useless but comforting homeopathic medical supplies around me, I felt distinctly home (not home). The food court just beyond the 'mart' was a gallimaufry of Korean, Japanese, and Chinese classics beloved by Koreans and not what your run-of-the-mill westerner would consider normal "Asian" fare, Thank Se-Jong. Proper kimbap, kongguksu, jjajang, and even naengmyeon (which brought me here in the first place) for all. The grocery store beyond is a veritable wonderland for native Koreans, Korean-Americans, and (former) expats like me. Every cut of meat you want to grill, every sauce, fish, snack, drink, and awful/wonderful (make-believe) East Asian curry you can imagine is here. There isn't a thing here you can't find at E-Mart. If that means something to you, I hope we've connected here. If not, it's cool- life gets better. Maybe.
