I went shopping for a ham for the holiday approx. 9AM, Sunday, November 23... on the top of the ham case, they had a BIG sign, "low price - $2.99/lb; I started looking for a ham - and to my astonishment, the actual price on the tag (on the ham) was $3.29 lb.. I looked further, and EVERY ham in that meat case was priced at $3.29/lb; I moved to the adjacent case - it had a BIG sign, "low price - $1.99 lb" so, I looked a the hams in the case; they were all ticketed at $2.28/lb. My wife asked the nearby meat dept worker, he said "oops - pick out any ham you like and I'll correct it".. we did so, and the price difference on our ham alone was betweem $5 - $6!!!! We shopped around and came back to see if they had corrected the price - NO!!!! Nothing had changed. I remarked to my wife the since the ad came out on Wednesday, and it was now Sunday, how much they were overcharging customers, every ham sold from those two meatcases on Wed, Thurs, Fri and Saturday - an average of $5 - $6 per ham!!!! The next day, Monday, and notified the company at HEB.com - online. Wednesday afternoon, Nov 26, I received a message from "Cesar" at that store - with his number, 210-408-1641; I returned his call at 4:30PM and left a message. He finally decided to return my call at 9:45PM - over 5 hours later!!!! This is where it really went downhill....He merely read back what I had written and asked me, and I quote, "What do you want me to do about it"??? I was flabbergasted!!! I said an apology would be nice - and his exact response to me was "I'm sorry you feel that way"!!!! then when I reiterated what I found to him, he admitted to me that he hadn't even looked into it yet!!!!! and again repeated his mantra, I'm sorry you feel that way!!!! My question is, (maybe rhetorical, maybe not) is this how HEB trains its managers to respond to customer complaints??? I advised him that this is not an acceptable apology of any kind, once again reiterated that they appear to be overcharging for hams, substantially, for possibly at least 4 full day - all he could do, with a definite attitude problem now, was his mantra - I'm sorry you feel that way, I haven't looked into it - that's an exact quote. At this point, I felt this was pointless and chose to end the conversation. Needless to say, I will never step foot into HEB again. I'm curious, if the readers of this review call him, Cesar @ 210-408-1641, and ask him how much he charges for hams, what his response will be. read more
