This has been our "go to" grocery store! It is conveniently located in the Stone Oak Area near Blanco Road. We enjoy being able to get affordable groceries, hot ready to eat/oven ready foods such as pizza, sushi, family meals, etc. We also enjoy being able to buy household appliances like a coffee maker, air fryer, rice cooker, etc all at this location. I recommend the oven ready margherita pizza and the Alfredo penne pasta to pop in the oven at home for a quick meal.

I highly recommend this H‑E‑B in the area! They have so many things to choose from, including unique products you can't find anywhere else. They have a bakery and tortilla factory! Great prices. They have a sushi section and the poke bowl was perfect! It was not overly filled with rice like other places do. It's very clean and organized! My first time here I was shopping for 2 1/2 hours and did not go through every isle.

Happy hour deal

This HEB and the one over at Evans Road used to be our more frequent stops for grocery shopping. Now, our go-to is The Market at Stone Oak HEB because of proximity and convenience. A couple of weeks ago, I saw an article that featured several HEBs that were serving South Flo pizza on a happy hour deal. The happy hour is available at this HEB among others from 4pm - 7pm. The deal includes a 16-inch South Flo pizza and 2 drinks for $10. Drink choices include select draft beers, canned beers, wine, and newly-added sodas. My neighbor and I got the pepperoni 16-inch pizza and 2 beers. She got the Peroni beer and I had the Freak Power beer. We both enjoyed the pizza, beers, and each other's company. There was enough pizza leftover for another time.

This is my favorite H-E-B out of all the ones I've been to in San Antonio. It's big, usually has everything I need in stock, & I love curbside pickup! The reason I'm giving this review a four & not a five star review is due to the lack of cashiers upon checkout. On days where there isn't much traffic I can understand why there may be only 2-3 cashiers, but on days when they're busy (like Sundays) I wish there would be a little more mindfulness of how many cashiers they have available. Especially for those who typically only buy a couple items, but have to be waiting behind the regular lines where people are usually loading up on groceries. Other than that complaint I really love the staff at this HEB. I haven't encountered any rude employees & have even enjoyed some of my conversations with the ladies from the bakery.

first in line, will even run over lady with a stroller

Love to shop here right before they close, less people, lines are shorter. Pretty good wine and beer selection.

Obviously there's no actual pharmacy here since it's on the river level with no access to street parking. It's not even your standard CVS. Sure, they have the basics like snacks, cosmetics, etc, but what tickled me were the ducky plushies in cowboy and beaver hats. There are also post cards and $20 phone chargers, one of which I needed since I accidentally left mine at the hotel. Would I come here to buy anything otherwise? Probably not, but it was certainly worth checking out. And the cashier was also very nice. She did ask if I have a phone number with CVS (I haven't for several years now. I wonder if they ever actually close those years old inactive accounts). She also allowed me to simply use the reusable bag from the Alamo we already had with us to save the trouble. Oh and an entire aisle dedicated to Texas and San Antonio. It was a fun time. Also, the shelves could probably stand to be wiped down more. Lots of dust. And what's this? No kitty cats to greet me? Now I'm sad. :( I'd come back just to see them, and they're good for keeping rodents away. So for the cat haters out there, bear in mind they're smarter than many give them credit for as they hunt mice and birds to keep the river walk free of infestations.

There's another one close by that's even closer to the river that you can only get in by way of the Riverwalk. This CVS only has a streetside entrance. I don't know what the world record is for the smallest CVS pharmacy, but this is definitely one of the smaller ones out there, so you can imagine the lack of variety in their merchandise. It's mostly snacks inside, but you'll find a few other non-food items in the rear of the shop. However, it's not very well-maintained. I came in three times during my stay in San Antonio. One just to browse around, and two to purchase a snack. On my first trip, the store was empty, and I saw two employees working at the front. On my second trip, the store had a handful of customers, but I didn't recognize an employee until he went up to the front minutes later to service a customer. I was looking around for a small snack, but I was kind of disappointed in what they had. Not that I'm comparing this to the Buc-ee's in New Braunfels, but there are a handful of snacks I would remember at other CVS locations that I couldn't find here. So the small snack I was planning to get had to be a little larger than I expected, which meant spending a little more. I got a Cheetos popcorn, which was the last one they had in stock the evening I went. That was the only item I recall that I hadn't seen before at any CVS. There might have been others, but the Cheetos popcorn was the most noticeable to me. However, upon checkout, I noticed some milk cartons lying on a table, not inside a refrigerator. I touched them, and they weren't even cold at all! Such a small store, but nobody realized the milk that's going to go bad real soon or has gone bad already? And speaking of checkout, if not for the two self-checkout stands at the front of the store, you might be waiting a while for an employee to ring you up, especially if they are assisting other customers. I made another visit on my last week here, and I was the only customer in the store at the time. There were two employees, but neither greeted me or offered to help. I wanted to get an ice cream sandwich, but the price tags were missing on a lot of them! I had to use the coupon scanner to find out the price of them. So inefficient and annoying to have to run back and forth just to find out the prices. I used the self-checkout again because I didn't think the employees were in a mood to ring me up. My suspicion was confirmed when one of them simply glanced at me without a word as I walked out the door with zero intention to make a return visit. If you're looking to make a (hopefully) quick stop to pick up a snack, and you happen to be in the immediate vicinity, this CVS will at least be there to answer your call. Otherwise, I would recommend going to some other CVS, like the other one with the Riverwalk entrance.

Just the fancy restaurants and the tourist hotspots which don't really need a review where your review will get lost in a sea of 20,000 others. This place is super cute with a lot of great stuff and fun stuff and I've stopped in here on several occasions when coming to San Antonio, and I'm sure they will come back here on many occasions in the future. And they have the word five in their name so what rating did you think I was going to give them? This store is a dime.

Here is a general store across the street from a site with more than 2,500 photos, almost 1,000 reviews (and an inexplicably low 4-star composite rating) and has a paltry EIGHT reviews and 4 photos (which I'm going to double today). Maybe I just love general stores with the amalgam of touristy stuff, toiletries you forgot to bring, and temptations of the sweet and salty kind. They sum it up best with their motto, "Travel necessities. Hometown setting." First, yes, as you would expect, there is PLENTY of Alamo-related stuff. Neither cheap nor chintzy, there are plenty of Alamo t-shirts, cups, magnets, mugs souvenirs, and other ephemera at prices (at least based on my experience) a bit less expensive than at other establishments. An, if you want to show some Texas pride, there's plenty to buy to remind your friends where you're from and what state not to mess with. And yes, it has the feel with the old-time pharmacy catch-alls, from medicines and ointments to phone chargers and travel bags. The convenience of an airport gift shop without the high prices and drab formulaicness. Five and Dime ain't for the cynic. You'll find the kind of cowboy hats you'd find on a sorority girl at a Saturday night party. You'll find the kind of sombreros you have lying around awaiting the moment when your friend passes out drunk and you can place it on his head and Sharpie a Zapata-style mustache on his upper lip. Yes, there's plenty of humor in the Five and Dime collection! In the end, Five and Dime is a great store for both local and tourist alike. Their hometown philosophy can also be found at their other locations: On the San Antonio Riverwalk, on the Landing in Branson, in Old Town San Diego, Market Street in Charleston, Old Town in St. Augustine (FL), Cannery Row in Monterey (CA), River Street in Savannah (GA), and the Historic Plaza in Santa Fe. All great places, and all where I'll be making a stop at the Five and Dime when I do. See you there!
