My friend at central market recommended this HEB for its stellar bakery. When I got there I wanted to leave pretty much right away. It was too darn busy! The bonus is that the parking lot is huge. And there are other shops in the area so you can shop around. I felt it was like any other HEB except it has a cool lodge/ log cabin feel (from the exterior and ceiling). And it also sells TVs and clothes along with food because it is an HEB plus. I'm not a fan of these plus stores because I think it's weird to buy clothes where I would get food but you can't beat one stop shops for convenience. I wasn't too impressed with the bakery or really anything. I probably won't go back since it's far away and there wasn't anything too special about it. read more

I love this H-E-B but recently that I've gone by there employees are rude . One looked at me and laughed because of the mask I was wearing . I'm walking around and I keep seeing him look at me and didn't think of anything wrong with it . But the. I was trying to scan things in the app because there was too many people in the store around and no social distancing . While I was doing this he comes on the side of me and bumps me with his shoulder and then says are you ok like if I bumped him when he clearly was rushing through everyone . That was the most disrespectful thing that has happened there , it was also disturbing because He had no gloves or mask on . I put my things down and left . If we are going to try to slow this thing from spreading then "essential" employees need to have gloves and mask on at all times as well . Asymptomatic people can get others sick even if their not coughing . I understand you guys want to make money but what you should do is switch to delivery for a month or 2 . Went here to do my weekly shopping and of course it was incredibly crowded. The worst part was that the entire ice cream section was empty and they claimed the display cases were broken. What's not to love about this place? Great prices, food samples, large selection, excellent staff who seem to enjoy their jobs, and knowledgeable specialty staff. The ladies in the cheese department will spend 20 minutes with you finding just what you're looking for. The butchers will cut your meat any way you like it and recommend some great ways to prepare it. Seafood staff know their product - where it came from, when it was caught, and will introduce you to new fish you may have never had before. They even changed the self-checkout to be more efficient (no longer self-checkout, now it's an express section of 4 or 5 registers) - even surveying customers to find out what they thought (they took on of my suggestions and implemented it the next day). If you live in San Antonio, you know that this is our only supermarket chain - in my opinion, for good reason. HEB is a solid company that I fully support. read more

This is my favorite HEB in town. The departments have such pride in their products... and the bakery is especially amazing. There are two HEB stores closer to my home than this one and I choose to make the extra drive. It is also a very clean and well maintained store. My only complaint is the parking lot... it just isn't configured well for the amount of traffic this store has. read more

I really like it though, it's got a great selection of items, there's a bakery, pharmacy, a Generations Federal Credit Union, a Pasha Express (Mediterranean food) and a really nice floral department. Like I said at check-in, I think I may have a problem. Lol! I love HEB! All of them! Every single one! I love how they are all unique in their own way! So when I need to stop in, I literally just stop at any one. On this particular day this location was the easiest to get to and leave from in regards to the direction I was coming from, traffic hour and the time it would take me to get home. Nerd much?! Haha! Anyway, this location is great! It's a huge store and it's a Plus! store so they have anything and everything you could possibly need and some! I would love for this location to be a 24hr store. I really like that this particular location can get me to the top three destinations within 15 minutes! So although it's not my everyday HEB, I truly enjoy shopping at here when need be. It is kind of surprising that no one has really Yelped this HEB since they seem to sell a lot of food items from their prepared cold foods area and eat right meals. The HEB itself is wonderful with all the HEB things you can imagine. There is even a coffee stand inside. I do enjoy their freshly baked goods. This review is mostly on the pre-made cold foods that are sold near the front of the store. For a small herbed chicken breast it is $4. You have to pay more for sides. A piece of salmon is $6... what I don't understand is that you can go to a nice restaurant for much cheaper (getting a plate of food) I tried their chicken breasts (dijon and herbed) and salmon, boy were they dry and pretty gross. I love that they put the nutrition facts on each item when you buy it, but WOW 25% of your saturated fat in one small chicken breast? What do they put in it? I got a couple side item as well, but none of them tasted good at all. This entire part of the store is ripping people off. I am curious if they even try the food they serve? The price of really old and sitting pizza is the same as the pizza that just came out of the oven which is not often. The floral department is more expensive too I think than other HEB's. The service however was very nice and fast. Don't get pre-made food from here. Other than that, I love HEB! read more

I'm not from Texas so HEB is brand new to me. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and in a good mood. It contagious. There are sales everyday it seems. The food is good quality however there was one time I purchased one of their prepacked dinners from the deli and the salmon was rancid. So gross it stunk up my whole house and I had to air out the place. I returned the dish and they promptly refunded me. I wanted HEB to know about the bad food before someone got sick. read more

The best HEB in San Antonio. They have a huge variety of specialty items that you can hardly ever find. If you maintain a healthy lifestyle-prepared to be amazed at their choices of fresh grass fed meats, gluten free selections, coconut flour and almond meal that you can buy by the pound, and kombucha. My husband and I stopped at HEB today around noon. He started bagging our items in our reusable bags because there was no bagger. An older man came over and started bagging- he did not act like he was very happy to be there and started throwing the items haphazardly in the bags. We get home and the bag that had the fruit was a mess. The bananas were all broken off at the stem. The carton of blueberries was dumped out and the cantaloupe on the bottom was now rolling around on the bottom of bag smashing the blueberries. My husband called the store and talked to a gal named Trisha. He was talking in a normal voice but did say a few curse words- which I have heard far worse from their workers. Anyways, Trisha turned the whole conversation around to admonish and lecture my husband about his language. The baggers at all the HEB's need better training. read more

I just ate at the Deli they had there and it was delicious. Spent quite a bit of time there seeing was already there for an interview. Loved the soup and sandwich deal I got. They had foccia bread which I am huge fan. Buttery goodness I was craving! And for soup I had he the gumbo. Now, I know what you're thinking, gumbo at a deli? It was freaking awesome. Lots of shrimp and lots sausage. I am down with that. Workers were helpful. Sandwich artist coulda been a lil more friendly. But other than that it was perfect. read more

Visiting my family for the holidays, my husband and I accompanied my mother to this store to do some shopping. The customer service is the worst-- everyone was so rude to my mom (and this coming from a New Yorker.) from the deli counter woman who rolled her eyes as she was helping people to the manager (?) who was moving people along in the checkout lines (he was openly sneering at the customers) to the kid who checked her out (he literally threw her bags down and one of the cupcakes we bought was smashed in the plastic container). The array of products they have is amazing, but it was a hellish experience. There's better stores to shop in San Antonio, I'm sure. Avoid, avoid, avoid. read more

This HEB keeps fresh items and the employees are friendly. Most-importantly to my family they have SO MANY organic and gluten-free options with easy labeling. My 1yo is allergic to gluten so we are learning how to spot it. This HEB provides a gluten-free icon on the pricing label to save the pains of searching on the product. I've double-checked just in case and they've been labeled appropriately. Only thing us we've found a couple of GF items not indicated on the pricing label, but better that mistake than the opposite. They have an extensive GF section and also carry items from The Little Aussie Bakery, a local GF bakery in San Antonio. Great to know we can trust this location with the health of our child while providing her a wide-variety of options for her otherwise limited diet. read more

The Food On The Run section served as a staple for my afternoon lunch endeavors. Talkin' QWAL-ITEE. Sushi samples daily. Really sets this location above the rest. Raw & Real. Top of the line cheese department. GIMME SOME GOUDA. Electronics - lodged in a corner between the animal food and household cleaning isles, this corridor provides an eclectic array of compact discs, movies, and various electronical accessories. HEB Plus is regular HEB + Walmart. I can't say I love it, but it sure is convenient. The store is arranged awkwardly and you literally have to walk through isles of Snuggies and sports team chachkeys to get to the food section. The meats and produce are all to the quality that one would expect from HEB and they do have a more extensive selection of food items than the average HEB. The parking situation is a nightmare as mentioned in other reviews, and the express check-out lines are anything but. Overall it is by far not the worst grocery store I've ever been to but I wouldn't make an extra trip to go specifically to this store. read more

Wow, I didn't know HEB Plus stores exist! So happy they had one near our hotel. It was fun to browse their huge store. My son chose a reasonably priced baseball cap there. Our family was also able to buy miscellaneous items that was better priced than at the hotel we are staying at. We love HEB in general. There were some smaller stores within HEB. However, since we came too late in the night, the stores weren't open. I think purses and jewelry were in one of the smaller stores. They had a large baby and toddler area selling clothes. They had women's clothing and sporting goods and apparel. I also caught glimpse of a sign stating they sell plumbing supplies. The store kind of reminded me of a Walmart because of all the different items they were offering. Good place to shop. read more

Between my wife and me, we probably go to this HEB five times a week. It's a great place. I think Aliyah K. must have been having a bad day when she went there. The people working there are trying their best to make sure each and every customer has a great experience. As for parking, go there when it's not so busy. I often park far away just to get a little more exercise. Besides, it gets me in the store a lot faster than those people who drive around the lot for five or ten minutes waiting for a spot close to the front door. read more

This isn't the prettiest HEB and the parking lot is usually congested, but they are usually very well stocked. There's products here you won't find at many other HEBs, like a nice Mexican products section and a larger variety of wines than, say, the Evans/281 HEB. We have never had a worse experience anywhere. The Manager of the store accused my wife of trying to steal . She had already purchased her items when she realized she needed other items. She needed a price check on some patio furniture that we had been wanting but the location by our house was out. the first employee she saw was the door guy. she approached him and as she stood there talking with ...the employee the manager plus security rushed and and attempted to arrest her for theft. She never exited the building with the unpurchased items and the employee vouched for her. But the manger said that it didnt look that way and would not allow her to even pay for the items and banned her from the location. We feel so disrespected and appalled at the behavior of the management. This has been my go to HEB for the past year and a half. The store is always bright and clean, and I've never had an issue when I needed help finding certain items. If I was a mouse, I'd been in cheese heaven. I can spend quite sometime looking at all the variety of cheeses they carry, which is conveniently next to the wine area. I'm not a big fan of olives, but if you are, they have a olive bar next to the cheese area with many varieties to choose from as well. I also love how they do samples tastings of foods and wines. The deli area can be a bit slow at times, but they always get my orders right. The meat and chicken area is always stocked and looks fresh. The seafood area can be dangerous for me. I LOVE their catfish and salmon. Sometimes I'll splurge and go crazy on the shrimp for a nice jumbalaya! Got a sweet tooth? You'll be there a while as they have a huge selection from your usual donuts, to their amazing tres leches cakes, and gourmet desserts. If you're lucky, you may also run into a few Spurs players too. I know I have on a few occasions. :) Never really had issues with their checkout lanes except for the baggers. Some of them could be retrained on bagging groceries properly. read more
