Overpriced like everything else on the riverwalk but oddly entertaining. I've never actually been to a touristy CVS, so I can't really complain based on location and the amusement factor. Obviously there's no actual pharmacy here since it's on the river level with no access to street parking. It's not even your standard CVS. Sure, they have the basics like snacks, cosmetics, etc, but what tickled me were the ducky plushies in cowboy and beaver hats. There are also post cards and $20 phone chargers, one of which I needed since I accidentally left mine at the hotel. Would I come here to buy anything otherwise? Probably not, but it was certainly worth checking out. And the cashier was also very nice. She did ask if I have a phone number with CVS (I haven't for several years now. I wonder if they ever actually close those years old inactive accounts). She also allowed me to simply use the reusable bag from the Alamo we already had with us to save the trouble. Oh and an entire aisle dedicated to Texas and San Antonio. It was a fun time. Also, the shelves could probably stand to be wiped down more. Lots of dust. And what's this? No kitty cats to greet me? Now I'm sad. :( I'd come back just to see them, and they're good for keeping rodents away. So for the cat haters out there, bear in mind they're smarter than many give them credit for as they hunt mice and birds to keep the river walk free of infestations. read more

A convenience store in the heart of the action on Riverwalk. The store comes with two adorable cats that greet you before you walk into the store. The store has a large selection of all types of snacks, beer, and wines. Bluebell ice cream at the entrance is a must. The worse thing about traveling for me are the different things my sinuses are allergic to. Unfortunately in San Antonio I was suffering from major allergies while on the riverwalk. My nose would not stop running! Thankfully this CVS (located on the river walk) saved me. I was able to pick up an 6 pack of facial tissue packets and some allergy medicine. That did the trick to fix me up! The line to pay here went pretty quickly and they also have self service kiosks. read more

Forget what everyone else says about where to get the cheapest beer on the Riverwalk. This place is it. Not very many people know that you can legally buy a beer here, and walk around with it on the river. You can! You can get beers to go here- either singles, six-packs or twelve-packs. They're nice enough to put it in a brown paper bag for you too. My favorite thing about this place is the fact that the AC is cranked 24/7. It's always a nice place to get out of the sun for a while. They also have all kinds of touristy things to buy- magnets, postcards, shot glasses, etc. Just don't buy the snow globes, since you'll just be forfeiting them to TSA. The prices on things here leave a lot to be desired, but you're paying for the convenience. If you don't jive with CVS, there's a Walgreens over on Houston St. a few blocks away. read more

So, I hadn't packed for a business trip in 17 years. Yeah, I don't get out much. But I was blessed to find this cool little CVS less than a block from the convention hotel. It's tucked into a really tight space, and aisles are very close together. It seems there should be a reduced selection as you might expect with limited floor space, but there's ample selection. I was even able to find the right color Listerine to compliment my fancy new night guard (colored Listerine need not apply). There is no pharmacy that I could see, unless it's up at street level on Losoya, but you can get all the essentials your suitcase forgot to remind you to bring without having to get in the car and drive somewhere. That, in and of itself, is a total win for the weary traveler. read more

Forget your prescriptions, unless they include beer and wine. This is the place for the convenience store grab and go when your done paying for those $10 margaritas all along the riverwalk. Don't get all excited yet; they know where they are and what you want. We grabbed a couple of 24oz Lone Star Lights and a bottle of Sterling Chardonnay for $29! The same LSLight in Dripping Springs is $1.39. Try $2.79 over here; and don't forget your cork screw like we did adding another couple of bucks. This place was packed. The line started at the back of the store but they were efficient with three registers going in the front. Near every customer was slurring, yelling, and ready to buy another case of bud light. Pepto shots were also being consumed by the dozens. You could NOT pay me any dollar figure to work here; and I'm sure $9 an hour is not far off the going rate. Yet, I give them props for keeping the beer cold and the line moving. read more

This is located on the touristy Riverwalk area and seems to have touristy increased prices, but I can't verify that. That don't offer a pharmacy, but rather more of a convenience store. I suspect being on the Riverwalk affects hours, so if you are hoping to pick up something you forgot to pack like we did (hairbrush) first thing in the morning, you can't, as this location does not open until 9AM. This is a great location to get cheap bottled water, cheap Crystal Light packets and cash back, but other than that, I thought their socks, sunscreen, a couple travel size items and souvineers were a little overpriced. I was hoping to find cheap keychains or postcards like 4 for $1, but to my dismay San Antonio pens, shots glasses and key chains started at $2.99 a piece. Yelp keeps reminding me to review this store, so here goes. We found this CVS perfectly situated on the Riverwalk and we usually found ourselves in here mid-day to pick up bottled water for our never ending walks around town or for our hotel room at the end of the day. Even though it's much smaller than other CVS' that we've been to, it seemed to have all the items that you'd usually find, minus the gardening supplies, lawn chairs type of items. The cashier we had the first day was very sweet but all others throughout the weekend were cranky. I later realized that the reason why they were cranky is because of the obnoxious drunks that come into this store. I guess I would be irritated too. A great place to come to pick up basics. If only I had read the Yelp reviews before trekking down to this CVS. There's hardly anything at this store--it's a lot more kitsch than a drugstore. They had an endless variety of souvenir mugs, but when I went to find diabetic supplies, they told me that they had none. Really? A drugstore that doesn't carry diabetic supplies? I've never heard of that. It's pretty useless as an actual DRUGstore, but if you're looking for something like a snack or a souvenir, I guess this is the place to go. Sad to say, but I went here more often than any other place on the River Walk. Forgot to pack something? No problem. Cold medicine, water, toothpaste, mascara, gum--it's all here. This very touristy CVS with everything you need when you are visiting downtown San Antonio it is a little more pricey than most places but your paying for location and convenience. Their staff is amazing and friendly. You feel welcome as soon as you walk in the doors. They great you with a "Welcome to CVS what can I help you find. " This is not a large store so they walk you to what you are looking for. It is located on the lovely River Walk right in the center of town. Unfortunately they are affiliated with a pharmacy but don't have one. But you can get ordinary over the counter meds here. So visit this friendly place and enjoy San Antonio read more

It's a little odd to find a CVS mixed in among the hordes of restaurants along the Riverwalk, but sure enough, there's a pharmacy that turns out to be very convenient. I went to pick up some razor blades and was wary of the tourist price mark up. Not so. The prices here were all reasonable and I found a packet of 3 disposable razors for 99 cents. Looking around, most of the other prices were in the respectable range too. If you're staying along the Riverwalk, this is probably a pretty good place to pick up those items that you forgot or didn't want to pack. read more

We were on a mission to get my friend drunk for her birthday. Since it was a Monday night, the bars were completely dead, so we opted to buy bottles and drink in our hotel room instead. Midnight was quickly approaching and CVS was the only place on the River Walk that we expected to carry alcohol. And that they did. There were refrigerators full of wine, champagne, wine coolers, and beer. There was also another entire aisle dedicated to wine. Umm, where's the hard liquor? I finally asked an employee who directed me to this liquor store that was a 5 minute walk away and on the bottom floor of an underground parking lot. Okay, that's do-able. Wait, liquor stores close at 9 in Texas?! Feeling defeated, we settled for some wine and Smirnoff ice; needless to say, I was disappointed. They do have a nice selection of ice cream though. The least we could do was get the birthday girl some ice cream to make up for the lack of hard liquor. Aside from the lack of alcohol, this CVS is like any other drugstore. Normally don't goto this CVS since it is downtown but I did come here when I was in HS and we cut class to go downtown. Yes yes yes I know how ghetto and sad but hey I went to Fox Tech where you can walk a few mins and be downtown at the riverwalk and a few more blocks and your in the mall. Very convenient location and idk why but I like that it's the only 2 story CVS I have ever been to. Yeah they make you have a CVS club card for some of their deals but hey you should be use to carrying those cards around by now. Of course unlike Randalls or Kroger I don't find their rewards as useful. Like no airline miles or gas points. All in all convenient and affordable; with the club card almost as cheap as Walgreens or Rite Aid. read more
