My fiance decided to stay at a hotel near here the other night and visit some of the bars nearby. Due to bad planning on our part, we forgot the charging blocks for our phones. We decided to come to this Walgreens to see what options they had for charging blocks. They did have several options for charging blocks but I ended up getting a power bank so I could charge my phone while walking around. The line was pretty long but this was to be expected near the Riverwalk and the night before Christmas eve. The line did go quickly. I honestly didn't need to come in here, but I found myself coming in here. I had been out walking around the city for a hot minute and found myself in need of some hydration. I figured this would be as good of a place to stop as any, they usually have a cooler section with drinks. Walked in and went straight for the coolers and looked really quick. Their selection was lacking that day and I got a small bottle of iced tea. I browsed the snacks as well, but I knew since I was going to doing a bit more walking I didn't get anything else. Lines at the register were a bit long and slow. They had one person working them and it took a minute to clear out the customers in wait, me included. read more

Stopped in to grab some basic food items for the hotel stay. As soon as we walked in, we were hit with hot air. I felt bad for the employees as there was NO A/C and I couldn't imagine working there on such a warm day. There was not very much in stock for single large water containers (no gallon size). This is a very busy Walgreens. More often than not there is a line at the checkout. Other than that it is your standard Walgreen store. The location is great if you are downtown. Went into the store during a visit to San Antonio recently. Tried to use the restroom while there and it has a key pad, when I asked the employee there he said "it's close" another person said "it's close" and employee turned around and said "no, you are a vendor so I'll let you in". Conveniently located in downtown near the Riverwalk, but not in the tourist area. The prices are not inflated as the stores on the Riverwalk, so it is a plus. The only negative is that a group of homeless people hang out in front of this store, and it is very uncomfortable to go in and out of the store. read more

A decent place to get supplies in downtown San Antonio. It's not easy finding places to get groceries or drug store items downtown. There's this place, and the CVS down the Riverwalk from this place. I do like the old vintage sign out in front. They went to great lengths to preserve the storefront facade here. The inside is just like any other Walgreens you've ever been to. The service here was fast, and professional. If you need San Antonio or Texas souvenirs, this is a good place to go. They've got lots of cheap stuff with Texas stamped on it. They sell beer, but not a very good variety, but the prices are okay. For beer, I recommend going down the Riverwalk to the CVS. You can drink on the river. read more

There are a few great things about this store. One, it opens at 7AM so if you are visiting San Antonio, staying near the Riverwalk and realize you forgot to pack something, you can still pick it up first thing in the morning. Two, they have hot coffee, individually brewed to order via a self-service machine. Three, they have pretty decent prices on a few souvenir items (I particularly noticed the SA baseball caps for around $6, which is not a bad price at all if you've been shopping around). PS. I spent a week in a hotel in downtown San Antonio recently. This may seem odd since I live in San Antonio, but it's just my life maintaining its awesome. Anyway. So, here I am in downtown San Antonio 34 miles from my apartment. I found myself in need of fountain coke (my go-to cure for too much partying), a tablecloth, and a cowboy hat. Seriously. That was on my shopping list. A coworker recommended I try this downtown Walgreens. I wasn't sure I would be able get what I needed in one stop. But, I gave it a shot. Turns out, this location has a soda fountain! Rare in any other Walgreens I've been to. They sell table cloths and other linens (nothing fancy, but will get the job done) and of all crazy things, they have an entire aisle of leather jackets and cowboy hats!! DING DING DING! We have a winner! So, as far as all other Walgreens go, any that have the variety of things this one has get 5 stars in my book - it's by far as good as a Walgreens gets! read more

This review is for the photo department. I live and work downtown so this is really my only option when it comes to convenience photo stores nearby to drop off during lunch. I've gone to this photo department probably 4 times in the last 2 months and never does anyone know how to properly work this area without having to find a manager. It's crazy. Not to mention I dropped off a disposable camera on 4/5/22 and was given a receipt stating to come back on 4/13/22 after 5pm. It is now 4/18/22 and my photos are still not ready and no one can tell me when / if they'll ever be coming back to the store for pickup. Considering they have my only negatives of these photos you can see how this is concerning and how little are they have when it comes to check on the processing stating to wait up to 6 weeks (online is says 3 days). Save ur time and spend a little bit more money to go print elsewhere. read more

The outside of this walgreens looks very nostalgic; it has the old neon signage and this doesn't stay open too late into the night, unlike other Walgreens you may be use to. Sucks, since it seems to be in a nice downtown area, but oh wells. Inside, you can find the usual items you would normally find at Walgreens, but with a heavier emphasis on San Antonio souvenir. The checkout area consists of 4 lanes, which moved very fast. Overall, decent Walgreens to located conveniently near the Riverwalk. read more

I was staying in a nearby hotel, and woke up early. I really wanted a tamal or breakfast burrito. Drawn in by the neon sign, I went to this very cluttered restaurant. When I say cluttered, I mean it had shelves and shelves of things, so many that I couldn't find the tables. I finally sat down at a folding chair in the "seasonal" seating. In the heart of Downtown on street level is the neon retro sign of Walgreens. This place has a large selection of things from snacks, drinks, drugs, not that kind people,rx, and also souvenirs. If you are looking for souvenirs on the cheap you come to the right place. I've seen their San Antonio shirts for low prices at about $2. Yeah $2. When everywhere is trying to drain you for you money just save it and spend it on more touristy events. San Antonio is to be seen not bought. Their staff is very friendly and organized they are used to a lot of people in and out of this establishment. It doesn't matter who you are. I've seen celebrities walk in and get treated the same like celebrities. Lol they treat everyone like that, like they are the only ones that matter. There is always at least 2 people of management walking around to make everyone's visit go great. Tourist and just your everyday people going to work stop in constantly. I've been shopping @ this Walgreens for 20 yrs now , & I saved 1151.44 as a prescription savings club member this year.The service there during the daytime hours are consistently great , but the Night Crew appears to simply NOT care about us customers anymore . The lines are always long with one or two registers open . The cosmetics register girl will sit & talk to coworkers & not offer to open that station unless somebody gets rude & demands it . They used to always open it if they new somebody was In a hurry or lines were long . The night shift seems to be having a great time while we all wait in line until they are done laughing at their own jokes . Wish there was an alternative . I hope someone in their Management teams reads this . read more
