I ran out of floss during my trip to San Antonio, and I needed to buy some. I was planning to go to Northwoods Shopping Center to eat a meal at Fish City Grill. After said meal, I walked the length of the shopping center to see what other stores there were. I was originally planning on stopping by nearby Walmart, but lo and behold, there happened to be an H-E-B here! It was pretty spacious, at least compared to the one at Lincoln Heights, and I figured I could save myself the trouble of navigating to the Walmart if I could find some floss here. There is a pharmacy on the far left side of the store, and even at the front, they provide various services, including vehicle registration?! Kind of cool a grocery store like H-E-B could do this. Anyways, digressing aside, it seemed this store had a bit of everything, like it could be your one-stop shop for everything. It saved me a trip to Walmart, even if it was just for one item lol, and it could very well save you a trip there too! After all, H-E-B does claim they have the lowest prices in all of Texas. Look out Walmart! You've got competition! lol The self-checkout stands come in really handy, especially for a store of this size. If not for the self-checkout stands, the regular checkout lanes could be pretty long. As at any H-E-B, watch for paper coupons on the shelves! Unfortunately, there was no paper coupon for the floss that I purchased, but considering it was only a dollar, I doubt there'd be one haha. Shelves looked well-stocked and organized. There isn't really anything extraordinary about this store that stands out above the rest, but if I lived in the area, I'd probably make this my usual store. I prefer the low key energy of this location compared to the phrenetic energy of the Evans and 281 location. I always feel like I'm about to be engaged in a physical sport at the Evans location for which I'm not usually not in the mood. Both are close to me but this San Pedro location always has parking, is not as crowded all the time and usually has all the food, products and services I need. I've been shocked by the doubling in price of food like everyone else but HEB products are very good quality and have remained at a reasonable price. The simple meal cost however has almost doubled, but you can find mark downs for the ones that will expire in a couple days, just look for the bright yellow labels. I'm usually coming for just a few products at a time and prefer the self check out scanners. The staff at self check out are always quick to assist if needed. HEB overall a a superior supermarket and a I'm glad to have this location be my favorite. They play great music too! read more

This used to be my local HEB, but it's really gone downhill in recent years. I usually go to the Bulverde location for better selection and environment. What happened to the meat counter? They don't always have what's in the sales ad either. On a recent visit I was looking for a beef shoulder roast. The beef selection was pretty bare. I could not even find a shelf tag for shoulder roast. Went to ask the butcher, but found there is no meat counter. 6 PM and no one was at the seafood counter to ask either. read more

Shopping went fine until we had to check out. We had tried to buy alcohol but was unable to as we had our friends with us who weren't 21. I understand that it's their policy and didn't argue but I've never ran into this problem at any other H‑E‑B location. The problem was once that happened, all the managers came up and were watching our every move as if we were going to do something bad. The entire time we were there, we had people watching us. Clearly not a good situation and were assuming based on how I looked. Never shopping here again. read more

HEB is always my go to shopping store. I know when I order fruit here it will come fresh and less for several days. I enjoy all the salad mixes that they have and the wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables. When I come to the store. It is very clean, including the bathrooms. Friendly service with a smile. It's been a while since I've actually been inside of a store. We usually order curbside from this location. Curbside- 5 stars easily! Staff is friendly and they pick great produce etc. Inside- 2/3 max. They didn't have T-bone steaks, glazed croissants (I guess it's only at the plus stores) and the cashier Candi was rude! She was super nice to the man in front of us but didn't greet us and threw our stuff out of the basket onto the dirty belt. Okay? Lol. (I'm not saying she set items down, she actually tossed them like she was mad) Happy day to you too! We just laughed. I love the HEB chain and have missed it dearly since moving out of south Texas. This isn't their best location (find an HEB Plus for that!) but it is the closest one to my home-base when visiting and I always make a stop. Produce, dairy, and meat are locally sourced from Texas farms and HEB has their own branded items for most pantry staples, and all have some of the lowest prices in town, consistently. They treat their employees well with compensation packages that rival Trader Joe's and as a result the service rarely has issues. Some favorite items here are their green sauce, their holiday blend coffees (I buy several bags and request them as gifts from family), their Creamy Creations ice cream line, and their briskets. I even bought a flat to wrap and put in my carry-on! Any store with this many staff is bound to have a few off days, but I keep coming back to this chain and location for the selection, quality, and pricing. Just wish they'd offer online ordering for out of state HEB lovers. read more

Unfortunately, due to the area that I live in, if I want my groceries delivered, it has to be from this location. HEB decides which location delivers it to each particular part of town depending on the distance. So I got this one. I do not like this H-E-B. I always get bad, rotten fruits and vegetables. So that's my main gripe. Secondly, they just don't have as good of a selection as the other H-E-B's in our area. So, as far as specialty foods go, like gluten free, keto, or vegan stuff, their selection is little to none. And lastly they are always forgetting something on our order. So each time we have to call them back and let them know that either something is rotten, or missing from our order, and eventually we have to leave our house to go get certain items ourselves. So why pay for extra delivery cost, if I am going to end up doing it myself anyways? Once, I had to return my entire order of groceries. It was mostly salads and vegetables, and all my salads were red and all my vegetables had rotten pieces in it. That is ridiculous. That should never happen. The only good thing that I can say about this H-E-B is that typically they are more than willing to give us a refund and take back their rotten produce. However, if it was my choice to choose which H-E-B delivered to my apartment, or if someone asked me which H-E-B they should go to, I would not recommend this one. read more

I went to get Kombucha & 5 of the bottles were expired & 2 were going to expire the next day. I asked the lady over that dept. if she would mark those down as they would expire soon but she rudely said no. The last time that happened the man was very nice & offered to mark them down as they were going to expire the next day. I also asked the store manager & she said that it was up to the other one & acted like it was an imposition asking her a question. Isn't that her job? So, HEB would rather throw them in the trash like they were going to do with the other ones than mark them down & make a customer happy & make some money. The other depts. mark things down if it's going to expire the next day & so do the other HEB's. I always avoid this store if possible, Bulverde, Thousand Oaks & Brookhollow have WAY better management & customer service. read more

I enjoy going to this HEB since it's the closest large HEB to me. It has all the items I need and the variety of products that small, neighborhood ones don't have. The downside is that it is very busy due to it's convenient location. The produce is on the right side, with the other items on the left side. One door will close after 9pm, so watch where you park your car or you will be hiking to it! read more

My Boyfriend and I went grocery shopping a couple nights ago here. When I tell you we had some of the BEST service we've EVER experienced! Katie (who looked to be the manager) approached us as we were checking out, asked if we were ready and opened up a new lane for us. Before we even touched our groceries another worker, Leslie, came in and started putting the groceries in the belt..FOR US! my boyfriend and I were so taken back he stood there in shock at the service we were getting. They do all the work, as far as placing the groceries on the belt quickly for us and bagging for them accordingly. I have never had a negative experience at this H-E-B and I come here all the time. It's very convenient for me right off the freeway. They always have fresh sushi in a matter what time it is. We customer service is great. Every time I need help finding something they go out of their way to help look for it. The only complaint I have about the stock is for the Asian section. I love to cook Asian style foods and there is not enough Asian items in the store. read more

This is your typical H-E-B grocery store. This brand is my favorite. Too bad I don't live in a city that has one. This H.E.B is located on the corner of 281 and 1604 in the Northwoods shopping center. They are open from 6am to 11pm and the Pharmacy is open 9am to 9pm except on Sat-6pm and Sundays 10-5pm. I love that they started the whole curbside service here, super fast and easy to use. I will say they always seem to be out of a lot of the items I get and then have to refund my card since they don't have it in stock that day. Also you are not notified until they start shopping your order about an hour out. So if you have something important planned and think you are getting something, just keep in mind it could be out of stock. That is more of an H.E.B company online ordering issue and not the store in particular so Im not mad at it. They have a small section of organic fruits and veggies compared to thousand oaks, but they have a decent one. The bakery is average for the most part compared to kitty hawk for instance and not very many cake options to grab and go. They have a self serve check-out so you can get in and out if you arent in the mood to stand in a long line or just want to limit interaction due to covid. The pharmacy provides covid and flu shots 10-2pm, but check the times as they may change. They have a decent beer selection and florist department as well. The location is in such a good spot because once you are done shopping you can go grab a cup of coffee at Starbucks or something to eat at slizzing wok! read more

Just to let you know, HEB puts a boot on the shopping carts and if they aren't deactivated at the checkout they will lock up as you exit the glass sliding doors. You then have to get someone who has to get the device to deactivate it. Irritating and inconvenient. HEB is worth 10 billion dollars and should have more respect for customers who made them worth 10 billion dollars. read more

I'm not wild about this HEB. It is centrally located, conveniently placed at the corner of 281 and 1604. It's surrounded by all kinds of other stores and restaurants, so there's a lot going on there. However, the parking is difficult, and with the major intersection (one of San Antonio's busiest intersections) right in front of the place, it can be difficult getting in and out of the place, or finding a parking spot. With all the speed bumps in here, most people go 3 miles per hour over them, which drives me crazy. They're called "Speed" bumps, not slow bumps - floor it! This store is rather well laid out, with lots of stuff- sushi and bakery, with a large meat department. The beer selection is vast and varied. The thing that really gets some points off for me is that they didn't have a bargain section, like many of the other HEBs. I always find those self-checkout stations annoying. This place doesn't deserve a star! Terrible customer service at the floral department. Very rude person and hung up the phone abruptly. When I called back to ask the operator, the rude person told the operator they can't quote prices for floral arrangements over the phone. I called another HEB and the floral dept gladly provided the price range of available floral arrangements. The rude person ought to be fired. read more

Meh, It's just ok for me. They have downsized the number of registers that stay open over the past couple of years. Also the meat and produce selection is lacking compared to before (about 6 years ago). Many products have turned to Hillcountry Fair, especially the salsa. They have a very poor salsa selection, they used to sell Gustavo's salsa (THE BEST) but no more are those days and I'm not willing to buy a whole case of it a week (I tried to request it). And $2.99 for crab snacks, really, they used to sell them 5 for $5.00. Overall better than the "Cheapy B" on O'connor Rd by my house that I avoid at all cost and, I do like it that this HEB is also open 24hours. read more
