I was at HEB today and I had a basket with a probably about $50 to $60 worth of food. I went to pay at the self-checkout when the cashier put her hands in front of me and said no you can't pay here. Why would you ever tell a customer no you can't pay here. I think it's time to retrain your Associates when they're telling your customers they don't want your money. read more

This is my neighborhood HEB. While it is considered an HEB Market, they typically carry just about everything I am shopping for. The organic options are plentiful, and I am a fan of the freshly-made tortillas made available. Alex at the seafood counter is friendly, knowledgeable and recognizes me as a "regular." Multiple check-out lanes are always open, and most of the checkers/baggers are quick and courteous. More often than not the checker and/or the bagger will ask if I need help bringing my groceries to the car. I've never accepted (I'm more than able to do it myself) but love that they offer. Chivalry and kindness are not dead! My only complaint about this location is this: the bins of fresh coffee beans, granola, spices etc. are often empty or nearly so. Maybe I simply like the most popular items, but on several occasions they have been out of my favorite coffee, granola and spices. Sometimes an employee is nearby to help and sometimes not. I would suggest the staff monitor this a little more closely. Also, parking can be quite a pain most days, but I don't remove a star for this. As a whole, this is a great neighborhood HEB, and I rarely frequent any other grocery stores. read more

This HEB is horrible. I am shocked by all of the positive reviews. I love HEB in general, but this one would change anyone's mind if they have never visited one before. I have gone here several times, as this is my neighborhood HEB. But, after this final time, I will never return. It's FILTHY. Here's a broken-down analysis of why it's not so clean and gives me a negative vibe: 1.) Upon entering the store, there is almost always a mildew-smell. I believe it comes from the Cafe on the Run, not sure, but it's disgusting. 2.) The produce section is full of rotting, gnat-covered fruits and vegetables. The selection is also limited. 3.) On my first visit here, I accidentally purchased 2 boxes of Nature's Valley granola bars that had been expired for 8 months! 4.) There are so many moths in the dry goods aisle of this store! It's unbelievable, really. I decided to research moths being in grocery stores and found out that many, if not all, of these insects are hatched right on the store shelves. Their eggs are in the grits, rice, oats etc and often undetectable. That's right, these bugs are crawling into the small openings of the rice box and breeding in there. And to make matters worse, their last few City of Houston health inspection reports show violations for not having the store properly sealed to protect against insects. Yuck! 5.) My last visit here convinced me to never shop here again. I brought pancake mix here for Saturday morning breakfast, took it home and opened it, and found a box full of INSECT EGGS and bug parts. This store seriously needs to be shut down. In addition to these gross points, the store isn't decorated as nicely as other HEBs either, it has weird empty feeling to it. Lately I have preferred driving the extra mile down the road to this HEB instead of Kroger. They have a selection that is more to my tastes. The produce seems to be a higher quality and the seafood seems fresher. I also feel they due a better job with prepared foods in both quality and selection. The bakery is average. One issue I have is that this place is cramped for space both inside and out and they put in a walk-in clinic. I've actually used it since it's been open but I'd still rather it wasn't there so they could utilize the space for some elbow room. read more

I really love shopping here. I came in the other day looking for fajita meat and the butcher was really friendly. He even came out from behind the counter to show me the daily flyer featuring the meats and told me where to locate the fajita meat at the front of the store. The checkers are kind, even when the lines are long. The store is always clean and orderly, which I love. I hate a dirty grocery store, it makes me wonder about how they treat the food. No such worries here! I withheld one star because sometimes there is an abundance of shopping carts in the parking lot making parking a bit hazardous. read more

One word: samples. My kids live to come here, and we do a lot. Great customer service and samples. That's pretty much the deciding factor over the other grocery stores in the Kingwood area. That and the made in house tortillas and guacamole. Those are a must buy from HEB. I also love their seafood counter. Great sales and quality. The crawfish they boil during season aren't bad either, and that from a true Cajun. read more

A great place to get groceries that are needed for the day to day, but also for things you might not expect. We go for the selection of fresh fish that we have for dinner at least twice a week, and I like that you can find things there that you wouldn't in some other places. The down side is the parking lot! Always crazy. read more

Great store and I love the fresh juices. I think these have saved my life with some health problems along the way. The workers are nearly always pleasant and helpful. I feel like HEB has happy workers and it shows, I have to buy a few other items I can't find here but this is normally my go to place for groceries and I miss this store when we're out of town. This HEB I've visited a few times and I'm always impressed. It's so clean they have samples on some days and I always find what I need and sometimes something even better and cheaper. A friend and I sampled some really delicious cranberry cheese and it totally inspired us to have a wine cheese and movie night. It was a really sweet cheese so I wanted to pair it with a drier wine but of course my friend is a "moscato head" so moscato it is. We had a really nice selections of cheeses and we even got some HEB made cheese which was awesome. We grabbed some triscuts and Stacey's pita chips to eat with it and headed to the check out. Ours cashier was enthusiastic, conversational and patient as there were three of us checking out separately. The overall feeling in this HEB is welcoming and friendly. It really makes me jealous I don't have one closer to me. read more

HEB offers a curbside pick-up service which is a great idea. Today I filled out a complete shopping list. (today is Friday 3/20/20). When I completed the list the system advised me that the first available time I could pick up my order was Saturday 3/28/20 after 1:00 pm. There is NOTHING convenient about waiting 8 days to get your groceries. I didn't expect it to be today or even tomorrow......but 8 days ???. Don't waste your time with HEB pick-up unless you really don't need the items that bad. read more

the bakery at this location is literally the best ever. They make the most perfect and tasty macarons I have ever had the pleasure of consuming; better than the French themselves. I like HEB and have shopped at many of them in north Houston and suburbia for a number of years. I won't detail the reasons I like HEB as most people on here have already done that. I just want to get off my chest the few things that irk me just a little bit. #1 Not having the person who bags the groceries put everything back in the cart and when I get home finding that I'm missing a couple of things. HEB is always good about fixing this but it sure happens more than it needs too. #2 Charging me for 2 items when I bought one. I looked at my receipt for this past Friday and it said I bought 2 bags of tomatoes each weighing 0.7 pounds. I only bought one that weighed 0.7 pounds. #3 Being asked if I found everything and when I tell them that I didn't they want to get a manager. I've played this game a few times before where the manager writes down what I need and never gets back to me. The employees know they're not going to check, I know they're not going to check on my item, and the managers know they're not going to check - so why ask? I just tell them "yes" nowadays as I finally realized it was only a rhetorical question in the first place. #4 The really small stores in the far northern reaches of Houston have very little selection. #5 As the price of gas goes up HEB is quick to up its price but as the price goes back down the pump price is rather slow to follow suit. I understand that competition is getting really tough in the Houston grocery market and HEB is still a great chain but here are a few things to work on. I still like the pharmacist in Kingwood who knows every one of his patient's names. read more

Went here for the first time ever after living in Kingwood for 2 years. I really liked the quality and quantity of items in this store. I usually go to Krogers and sometimes Randall's. I was disappointed with the meat selection and more importantly I was disappointed with the customer service. No one went out of their way to say good morning or ask if I needed assistance. With every Kroger that I go to, they always do this. The shocker was when I went to the checkout line. The cashier did NOT put my groceries in the cart. Matter of fact he actually watched me struggle to organize my cart after the contents were bagged. Keep in mind it was 8 o'clock in the morning and the cashier didn't have a line. Unless I want something fancy, I'll stick with Krogers. read more

This is my favorite HEB in the HKA area. While significantly smaller than the other two, it still has everything one would need and it's pretty easy to get from one side of the store to the other. Sometimes the meat selection is lacking and the $4 flower bunches aren't as nice as what is offered at other stores, but the cleanliness and beer/wine selection makes up for a few shortcomings. read more

First off, we love HEB, the products are great and priced fairly, there is a good selection and the people are all great. Now, we go to HEB Kingwood, passing half a dozen other grocery stores and one other HEB, because of Lou. Lou is the best thing to happen to HEB since electricity, he is friendly, knowledgeable and knows EVERYBODY. If HEB was really on the ball, they'd have Lou (a former Philadelphia Eagle) do a commercial with Scott McClelland and JJ... Truthfully, HEB is a great store with a lot of great people but Lou goes that extra mile, he knows the people, their families and their joys and miseries, he sets Kingwood HEB a step higher than the rest. read more

By far the best grocery store in Kingwood. If you stop by Lou is always friendly and has a little treat for your little one. When my husband was laid off a few years ago he would stop by and Lou was always very sincere and shared stories with him. He became an inspiration to my family. He always went out of his way to make Noah my 3 yr old laugh and smile. Also one time they had lost my cupcake order but as I was frantic they told me not to worry they would have cupcakes ready for me within the time frame that I needed. And they gave one of the dozens to me for free for the inconvenience. I continue to shop here even though I live closer to other grocery stores because i know I'll receive the best customer service. read more

Woman who identified herself as the store manager was ill informed and condescending in her explanation of an internal policy. We were given 2 money orders as payment for an item. Western/Union - HEB money orders. HEB third party identity verification would not allow either to be cashed. We were directed to another "outlet" to cash them. Kroger - no Randall's - no Different HEB - no Went back to Kwood store. One was cashed, second not because of verification process (...?..) Store send us to a "check cashing service" they had pre discussed the circumstance (?) with. Arrived check cashing service, 30 miles away - I45/1960. Check cashing service required 160.00 charge to cash M.O. Returned to Kwood and had discussion with woman who identified herself as store manager. Words,words,words with store manager all focused on not their problem, all mine. Then confusion on her own instruction and process, mimicking a lawyer.... Her resolution : she was final authority and her instructions were to contact individual who purchased M.O. for a refund. read more

Their HR department must have some secret sauce, because everyone that works there is professional, friendly, the store is always well stocked and organized. Poor customer service. I made it through the doors a few minutes before midnight to pick up few items needed for grilling the next day. As I approach the registers a few minutes after midnight, a "supervisor" says, "We are closed". I told him that it did not make sense to keep the doors open until midnight if registers were closing at the same time; It is just not reasonable for a customer to come in at 11:59 pm, pick up an item and make it to the register before midnight. I could not talk any sense into him. Heb needs to invest a little more on hiring, training, etc., because it reflects negatively on HEB. read more

We have been trying out this store for organics closer to home (45 miles) rather than whole foods (75 miles) now for a couple of months because Livingston TX just simply has nothing (the HEB in Livingston has no organic produce section). This store has been somewhat good enough to fill in between trips to whole foods, but the organic produce hasn't been the best of quality and the really odd thing is that now it is getting into the season for local produce, when product should be better and cheaper, the produce prices on a lot of items has jumped to ridiculous with the quality being a mixture of good\fair\crappy. They are only selling organic eggs by the half-dozen at over $3.00. (just plain rip-off). Also, we have thrown away so much money in the past few weeks on cantaloupe and watermelon that we're really fed up at this point and just going to make more trips to Whole Foods. read more

I was disappointed with this HEB location. I popped in to pick up cheese on the way to my parent's house for dinner. Mom like to have shredded Parmesan or Romano on her spaghetti. After finding the cheese, I made my selection of the store grates in house cheese. I proceeded to the register within eye shot of the cheese to checkout and was told the total would be $16. It was a tiny container of store brand cheese, so I knew either prices had gone way up since I bought this product or it was mislabeled. Seems a little strange that Parmesan of that quality would be $23/lb. I simply brought up the error in my judgement and went to select another cheese. I found a great looking grates import from Italy that was in my price range and headed back to the register. While making my selection, I noticed there was water dripping from the top of the shelving unit onto the food product in the area including all of the cheeses. During my second checkout, I mentioned the water situation to the cashier letting her know that she may want to let someone know that it lolled like there may be a leak. She just looked at me and said,"well, that's the deli" as if she had no interest in doing anything other than checking people out. No matter the fact that a leak onto food could cause someone to get a serious illness. I expected a lot more from the staff and was put off by the it is not my job attitude I encountered. read more
