Hazardous at times to be waiting with the cashier to ring you up and getting hit with a kart cause they don't enforce people to stop coming in the wrong way.

Mi Tienda, meaning "My Store" in Spanish is seriously MY kind of store! When a friend asked if I wanted to go to Mi Tienda, a Mexican grocery store owned by HEB, on a Saturday with her family, I said sure...not anticipating I'd be in for quite the adventure!! The prices are crazy "barato" (inexpensive) and the choices are plentiful! One of the greatest aspects for me is the cleanliness and organization. We ordered tacos de barbacoa from the deli and they were delicioso. We tried their refrescos de agua (I had "maracuya" which is passionfruit). Yummmmm! The have a bakery where you can order yummy bread, cakes and pastries, and have plenty readymade goodies. Excellent prices on produce too! I purchased some new "huaraches" (an authentic Mexican leather sandal) at one of the stores located inside. Yes, there's little stores within the store! Ask the sales clerk what your Mexican size is. You couldn't tell me I wasn't at a little Mexican mall, y'all! I don't know about anyone else, but the entire time I was here, I felt like I was on beautiful foreign soil. We purchased churros from a kind Mexican lady with a cart near the exit and they were the best churros I've ever tasted, people. Vanilla stuffed is a winner! She's serves them warm too...yasss! Never had them warm. I've clearly been deprived. Oh, and I really dig tamarindo covered apples, and I was able to find the tamarindo paste here so I can make them myself! Whoo hoo! HEB, this was a grand idea! I gotta come back for sure!

I think it's an amazing store. Not one I would frequent, but it's good to know it's around. My neighbor always talk about this store and the good deals she always get. Today we ventured out to explore it. It's like stepping into a Mexican city. The colors, the music, the food. Having spent so many years in a border town, it's kind of like a second culture to me. I was able to find tamarindos and guavas. A broom for $3, and the best agua fresca I've had in my life. Seriously, it was amazing. I did get more stuff. It's part of H-E-B so a lot of things I can find at my regular store. Whereas H-E-B has an area for pots and pans and anything household, this one has an assortment of Mexican pottery. The flower section is like an H-E-B one, but this one is filled with piñatas all over. It's like stepping into a Mexican town. Loved everything about it. It's an hour away for me, but if I'm ever in the area I wouldn't hesitate to stop by again.

This place was a lot less expensive than other H‑E‑B in upper North Texas. Very authentic and filled with Mexican culture!

My husband placed an order for my cake 2 weeks before my birthday and when it was time to pick up there was no cake for me. Not only did they note the wrong date but how they could have one ready for me the next day. Very disappointed so I ended up choosing a cake from display since it was already payed for. When it was time to cut there was a hair on the first slice of cake that we cut.

Mi tienda es una joya escondida de un supermercado aquí en el área de Houston. Por supuesto, probablemente ya le sepas si puedes leer esté comentario. Mi Tienda is a great place to shop for fresh fruits and vegetables. If you're hungry and can't wait their is a great Cantina with grilled chicken, pork and beef with plenty of sides. They make their tamales, chicharrones and tortillas on site. It is large but certainly not as large as a major HEB. However what it lacks in size it more than makes up for it in having the stuff that you really want. From a bakery to fresh meats to grilled food, homemade products that suit diverse needs of its customers. How about a whole, fire roasted chicken for $7 or a dozen handmade tamales for $10. Although most of the staff is Hispanic they are friendly to gringos and Hispanics and they all readily speak English to assist you in your shopping experience. Hasta Luego ya'll.

In this heat, aguas frescas to the rescue!

I love when I'm working North of Houston because Mi Tienda is on the way home. Of course, I had to stop to buy an "agua fresca." This time I had a cucumber/pineapple one which wasn't too sweet like those usually are. It was delicious. I noticed lemonade, plain pineapple, and mamey. The entrance during "social distancing" had red marks and more than one station for antibacterial gel. The aguas frescas area separated the customer and the staff with plexiglass. I was tempted to buy more than the drink. They had these attractive strawberries and cream in the same fruit drinks' station. And I splurged. They're pretty tasty. As opposed to before where pastries are self-serve with tongues, this time each piece is individually-wrapped in plastic. They had a log roll with cajeta in the cakes' display. It looked so good. It's too bad Mi Tienda is far. I haven't seen this type of cake at the sister HEB. Maybe sometimes, a trip to Mi Tienda might be worth it, even if it's far from home.

Example: my wife and I wanted to make a batch of chili, but none of the big boys around here carry coarse-ground beef. Food Town does. And not only that, the man at the meat counter offered to grind any cut of beef I wanted if the ground chuck they had in the case was too fatty for my purposes. That's the kind of service that's hard to find at places like Kroger, where they're as likely to ignore you as they are to offer anything beyond the bare minimum. Food Town's stores aren't glamorous or even that visually appealing, but then again, they don't ask their customers to pay for posh stores through higher prices. Food Town's prices are some of the lowest you will find in the area. We stock the deep freeze with meat a few times a year with runs to Food Town when they have sales on brisket, ribs, and Boston butts. Our local store may not be a showplace, but it is meticulously stocked and cared for. I've never gotten a bad bit of produce from a Food Town store. I certainly have from Kroger, especially in their food delivery. So, all in all, I'm a big fan of these stores. They're local, independently owned, and they seem to actually care about providing customer service to shoppers. These are old-school stores that focus on what matters--good products, good prices, and good service.

I live in the area so I typically find myself here once a week or so. I only come here for basic necessities when I don't have time to go to Mi Tienda or need to make an entire run to Costco. What to look for: specials on fruit and vegetables...and, the occasional deal on a specific cut of meat. What to avoid: everything else. Usually the meat selection is pricier than the competition. Just about everything else, unless on special that week, is 10-15% more. I'll shop here just to save money on gas and time, but I never plan to shop here. The wife and I are bilingual, but if you don't speak Spanish, then you might need a little help here and there. The staff has been, on every occasion, very nice to deal with. This is because they offer a lot of options for their customers ranging from drinks, snacks, tacos, and meat you can take home to cook for parties. There is something about this store that makes me happy. El Paisano is a meat market that is close to my house. Since it is close to my house it is so convenient and time-saving for me making it the best go-to for anything I need for groceries or just simply want some tacos to eat quick. I have been shopping at this store since it opened roughly around 3 years ago and let me tell you not once have, I been disappointed with El Paisano because the owners and workers are friendly towards their customers. My family tends to order tacos from their instore taco corner because they are excellent tacos and very affordable. On top of the tacos, if you're looking for meat to cook yourself such as for a party or simply for your family to eat, you can buy it at their store because they offer different kinds of meat such as fajita, pollo, and milanesa, etc.... all at an affordable price. My family loves shopping here because of the many options they offer for us as a family that want to quickly buy some drinks, snacks, and food to satisfy our hunger. Ever since this store has opened it has brought joy to our family and we greatly appreciate their store and want them to know. The store owners are very friendly and communicate with their customers making a good relationship between customers and business. I will and my family will continue taking our business to El Paisano because of how much we love their friendly attitude and a good selection of products for customers. The impact not only on me but on our community is great and it shows because even being a new business they always have tons of customers, and this shows that offering great customer service and having a great selection can help a lot and El Paisano is proof of this. Continue the great work and I look forward to continuing buying whatever I need. I can go on and keep talking about how great this store is, but I think it is better if everyone gives it a visit to see how great of a store it is and how many options you will have there. I say try the tacos they sell there because they are authentic Mexican tacos with homemade tortillas. You can never go wrong with good authentic tacos that are very affordable and delicious. Everything about this store will make you happy to live close to El Paisano. Ranging from the owners of the business to their employees to their great selection you will see why and how they are a great store.
