This location in Atascocita was the first one I visited in Houston and found it to be very similar to the set-up in Chicagoland and Los Angeles that we frequent. Large chocolate bars seem to be another good-buy as well, with the Choco changer brand milk chocolate being especially good. I thought I wouldn't see aldi in Texas, but hey you never know and look this location is brand sparking new. $1.89 for a gallon milk and $.79 for a dozen eggs is amazin' now that's what you call a deal compare to heb-Walmart-Kroger I'm at least 15-20 mins from aldi but I will drive here for that and stock up. Aldi has brands you will not find in either supermarkets that I mentioned. Not mention you have to bring your own bags because aldi does not bag your groceries nor give you bags you would have to buy them, 10 cents for plastic and 6 cents for paper. Love aldi read more

The only other Aldi's I've been to was in KC and this one is no different. It was started by 2 German guys and is very successful in not only Europe but across much of mid Western and the eastern US. Too bad they are not in CA yet! I love this store. Neat products, awesome prices...no frills. You put a quarter in the cart to use the cart and when you return it you get your quarter back. They save on not only employees to fetch carts, but on lawsuits over damaged vehicles from runaway carts! I just went to Germany in October and the same exact chocolate bars I purchased there were here at Aldi's for the exact same price! I loaded up and also found a cool brown rice spaghetti that sis says tastes just as good as gluten spaghetti. Stuff looked ok I didn't end up buying anything or staying long because I didn't have a quarter to get a shopping cart and there was nobody at the cashiers to break my $20. Recently opened here in Atascocita, this ALDI is pretty cool. It's smaller than most of the grocery stores in the area, but in the suburbs most stores go for the whole MEGA STORE MUST HAVE EVERYTHING approach to being competitive. I'd say it's similar to Trader Joe's in that it's a small budget-conscious niche grocer with few brand names, but TJ's focuses on "gourmet" and "organic" ready-to-eat food. Aldi has fewer ready to eat items, and doesn't really do organic either. Some interesting stuff in Aldi was their German chocolate selection, since regular stores don't usually carry much in the way of Europen junk food, it was pretty nifty. Prices are really really low IF they have what you want -- it's not really a place to stock your entire pantry, but good for a quick trip to pick up a few things fast/cheap. At the moment, they have really good deals on milk $1.70 for a gallon, and Avocados were $0.39 each. The avocado I picked up was perfectly ripe, not super hard or practically rotting like you usually get stuck with if they're on sale, so that was awesome. Ambiance was nothing exciting, about like the Dollar store next door to it. It must be noted that you'll need to buy the bags or BYO resuable ones. However I did notice that the employees were VERY polite, especially since it was really busy at the time, and given that typical grocery employees are more indifferent than service-oriented. read more

Yes addiction. I'll admit it. My name is Tam M and I'm an ALDI ADDICT. What else would you call it when someone always goes to a place no matter what else they have to do...I cannot pass up an opportunity to shop at this place. PERIOD. I don't know why it took me so long to investigate Aldi, but I'm glad my curiosity got the best of me one day and I decided to venture inside. When I first heard of Aldi, I just thought it was another chain convenience store with mostly overpriced items like our fair Walgreens and CVS. Boy was I wrong. This Aldi has lots of light, a variety of items, and my favorite part--great prices! You may not see any of your well known Brand name items here, but the quality is just as good--maybe even better than those popular national name brands. From Aspirin to Zucchini (which is usually 99 cents a package), you'll find what you need at a fraction of the cost at Aldi. Granted, this is place is not very big--maybe even microscopically small compared to a Kroger, HEB, or Wal-Mart, however, you'll find yourself in and out in half the time shopping here versus the former mentioned marketplaces. Best part: if you forget something, you don't have to walk down 10 aisles to find it again. Although some prices for certain items are questionable, the main reason I go to Aldi is to check out the produce section. It's a little small, but they always have a sell on something that would cost me double and triple the price at other places. For example, since shopping at Aldi, I have always been able to buy pineapple for 99 cents. Zucchini squash has also became a staple at my house because I can buy a package for 99 cents. In the past, I've purchased a 5lb bag of potatoes and carrots for less than a dollar. Today's purchase: a 5lb bag of sweet potatoes for 99 cents. Super Score! Only thing you must make sure you do is have a bag with you when you shop or be willing to pay 25 cents to rent a buggy. This European based company believes in going green and takes the go green initiative seriously. If you forget to bring a bag, no worries. There are usually boxes to use to shop around with since the displays are not on shelves but made up of mostly the boxes containing the product. It's a beautiful concept that keeps customers happy and employees calm cool and collective since they so not have to stand on their feet and bag groceries all day. They actually sit on stools while they check you out. Such a humane thing to do Aldi! So the next time you see an Aldi, make sure you check it t for yourself and save a few bucks too. You won't be disappointed in making Aldi you're one stop shopping headquarters too. read more

If you are looking to save money, this is the place go to. What do I love about this place? It isn't crazy busy, I am not fighting off crowds of people. Yes, they are store brands, but what I have tried have been very good. I like the more limited selections because I don't spend an hour shopping for simple ingredients. They have well priced produce, and canned goods. They have an unconventional cart system, they ask you put to a quarter in to get the cart then you get it back when you return the cart. So guess what, your car isn't going to get damaged in the parking lot. You also need to bring your own bags, and bag your own groceries. What do you get in return for this? Interesting... I wasn't too sure about this store when I saw a few pop up in Houston. Impressed with the cart system. You put a quarter in and it unlocks the cart for you to use in the store and when you are finished with you purchase, you click it back with the rest of the cart and the quarter pops back out. Brilliant. Efficient way to keep employees inside and helping customers vs outside pushing carts in from the parking lot. This also lessens the change of people getting their car dinged by grocery carts all over the parking lot. I would come back to buy fruit. That's about it... the fruit is priced low and it's fresh. Milk as well. No brand name items here if you are that certain consumer, fyi. It's a dime for every grocery bag you fill groceries with. I'm sure you can reuse them but I believe the plastic bags have a good 3 visit lifespan. read more

This place has only a handful of know brands, of anything. My wife love's the prices and deals, but this grocery market is the size of a fast food restaurant - with about four aisles and just as many crowded checkout lanes. It was just plain weird to me! Yikes! read more

I'm definitely a fan of Aldi's for certain items. It's always easy to get in and out. Most of the time the cashiers are usually friendly. The last two times I've been in I've ended up checking out in Kimberly's line. What to say....... The most unfriendly cashier I have ever experienced. She has the personality of a several wet blankets. I tried to make small talk and nothing. I mean nothing! Not a hi, bye, have a good day, nothing. So far, both experiences have been good. Great prices! I've shopped at Walmart, HEB, and Kroger for groceries and I've always managed to get the biggest bang for my buck at Aldi. I get that they don't have the major name brands or have a HUGE selection but they take the lead in produce which is pretty pricey in other stores. The produce is pretty inexpensive here. read more

The prices are low, but the selection is very limited. The place is clean as a whistle, which makes for an enjoyable shop. The employees are very helpful, but scarce when your on the floor away from the checkout. I don't blame the staff, but maybe the location is understaffed? The cashiers are really friendly, I wish they did not have to go so fast and wish they bagged the groceries...whipping them into a cart could cause damage if the customer is not looking. I like how you have to put a deposit of $.25 to get a cart and you get it back when you return the cart. Cashiers are not careful with your stuff, they will throw items into your basket, soda's eggs what ever because they are in such hurry. There are some good employees here but they do have some who look like they hate working at this store and could care less about taking care of the customer with a smile on there face. read more

Sure this store has cheap prices, but to keep the price down they definitely lack in other areas. The store is small with a lot of off brands. The way it's laid out you pretty much have to walk through the store in one direction. The employees are laze. They literally sit there while they ring you up. They WILL NOT put any groceries in a bag for you even if you buy the aldi bag from them and you only have 1 item. That is pretty annoying. Basically, the stuff here is cheap because they don't hire enough people. My advice shop at HEB where they have great prices and tons of options. And a whole bunch of employees. This place is great for saving money...... bring a quarter for a basket, and bring your own bags... almost everything is Aldi's own house brand, but we have been happy with 99% of every food we have bought there.... I've currently stopped shopping at my local Kroger because this store does save me some money! I am a recurring food shopper and I love the brands and the off brands from this store. I've noticed the produce IS fresh and I LOVE THAT!! The meats are of great variety too! If you're going remember to bring your own bags and a quarter to get a basket. They offer bags but at a cost to you. I always bring my own! be ready to SAVE!! They offer everything the local name brand stores offer but at a WAY lower cost!! I stopped by this place for the first time today. Overall I would say it was a good experience for the most part. The prices were very low on most items. The selection is not great so if you're looking for shredded bagged cheese or ricotta don't come here. They have a good selection of basic necessities. I was a little surprised seeing that you pay a quarter to rent a shopping cart. I spent all my quarters yesterday vacuuming out my car so the kids and I carried what we bought. They also did not have grocery bags which would have been fine had I known ahead of time. I also went to check out and realized they do not accept credit cards, only debit, cash, or food stamps. Not a huge deal for me in that moment as I had my debit card on me but would have been good to know before hand. I will probably go back because of the low prices for everyday items and get what they don't carry at Kroger or HEB. read more
