I was in the area for work when several locals told me I had to check out H. Cheval Coffee. I'm a huge mocha fan, and it's surprisingly hard to find one that's made just right. Luckily, this place absolutely nailed it. Their mocha is hands down one of the best I've had. In fact, I've been working in the area for the last four days, and I've stopped in for a mocha three of those four mornings. That's how good it is. The staff deserves just as much praise as the coffee. Every barista I've interacted with has been friendly, welcoming, and consistently on point. Stopped by H. Cheval for quick coffees before heading out on our drive back to SF. I was able to order online for myself and my group and the prices for each drink seemed fair. We ordered a few iced lattes, a cappuccino, a mocha, london fog latte, and a hot chocolate. Both lattes I tried were tasty and not overly sweet. The coffee shop seemed a little under staffed when we went, as our drinks weren't quite ready, and the coffee bar area was running low in terms of napkins and lids. I also had to interrupt a transaction to request someone to add whipped cream for a hot chocolate. However, the customer service we received was friendly and efficient. We thought the outdoor patio seating was lovely and a great place to sit down with a friend or a book and enjoy a comfy beverage. The garden ambiance and plants/mini fountain were a nice touch too. It was a bit chilly when we visited, so we opted to sit inside. The indoor area has some seating, but felt a little cramped and less comfortable. The interior and decor seemed in line with overall vibe and aligns with the shop's name. Cute little spot with a beautiful patio. My coffee was good but the big complaint for me was their system of calling out the orders. There were a group of us that had the same order and the call by what you ordered instead of a name. So we all arrived to the counter at the same time and the staff had to determine whose was whose first. Probably not a big deal on slow days but confusing first thing in the morning. read more

We decided to try out this coffee shop today when it opened at 7. Plenty of seating and great lighting inside, as well as patio seating outside. Staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed reading at the corner window side table, savoring a butter croissant, a chocolate chip scone, and 12 oz pressed coffee and a 12 oz vanilla latte. The scone was a little burnt tasting and kind of dry, not like other scones we've had. The coffees were delicious and the butter croissant was perfectly flaky and satisfying. read more

Darling coffee shop in downtown Paso Robles, right off the main square. There was a bit of a line when we arrived but it's worth it! The courtyard has fountains, tables, and trees. It was such a sweet spot for a morning coffee break. Order the Cafe Miel - basically a honey latte and so good. I had a quick overnight stay in Paso Robles and was searching for my morning matcha. I found this quaint and cute coffee shop and headed over. Location is in the heart of downtown Paso Robles near the city park. I was greeted by a friendly face and Christy was her name. They serve some tasty drinks and my iced Matcha with lavender was so exceptional on this warm summer day. Christy took her time and made my drink with lots of love and care. I really appreciated her service. The shop has an equestrian vibe with beautiful photography featuring horses on the walls. Gorgeous leather chairs and wooden surfaces inviting you to sit down. Nice little coffee shop in downtown Paso Robles. Good place to grab a coffee and pastry while waiting for the shops to open. We got a few lattes, brewed coffee, hot chocolate, and some breakfast pastries. The drinks were all good. The pastries were also good. Good service. Nice, huge patio with tons of seating. Only sucky part is that... there were tons of flies in the patio. We constantly have to cover our food and drinks or swat the flies away. We were in Paso for the night and were in search of a cozy coffee shop; H. Cheval was absolutely what we were looking for. Baristas were super friendly and greeted us as soon as we came in. For 11:30am, they were pretty busy, yet managed to make their well crafted drinks fairly quickly. Although a smaller menu, they had a wonderful variety of coffee styles as well as matcha & chai lattes. I also LOVED the brilliancy of having a stainless steel countertop where they wrote each order with a dry erase marker to save paper! Honestly so smart and I'd love to see this in more coffee shops around the Country. My husband ordered the Undertow which is their layered espresso; since it's such a small beverage, we sat inside so my husband could enjoy his Undertow - which he very much liked. I opted for an iced matcha latte with oat milk & honey vanilla syrup in a to-go cup. As a matcha connoisseur, I was happy they used such a high quality matcha. The combination honey/vanilla syrup was also nice - it cut down the bitterness of the matcha while adding a subtle sweetness. I loved the cozy ambiance inside with comfortable seating as well as the big beautiful patio shaded by many trees. A perfect Paso morning at H Cheval Coffee I was in Paso for just 24 hours to pick up a wine shipment and squeeze in time with friends, and stumbled into H Cheval on a morning stroll before visiting my favorite General Store. What an unexpected gem. I ordered a café miel with oat milk, and it was perfect -- warm, balanced, subtly sweet, and easily one of the best I've had anywhere. We sat outside by the fountain, and I was immediately transported to another place. Peaceful, calm, and exactly the kind of moment you hope for when you're traveling. First time here. I happened to drop by since I was in Paso on business. The coffee is well crafted and tasty just what I needed for a tired morning. The service is great, the girls do a wonderful job and are trained well as baristas. I did not try a scone or muffin as those are my go to's. Paso Robles is a great place as an up and coming destination for the past few years, especially. The people, the wineries, and restaurants are great as well. Although, for the area, the cost of living is increasing because of these factors. There are plenty of seats outdoors and a few indoor, but some are occupied by the office less ones. We really wanted to love the place with everyone raving about it on tik tok but we're really disappointed. The outside seating area is as beautiful as all the tik tok videos and does transport you to somewhere calm and quiet. However, the coffee shop has a strong mildew smell upon walking in which made us wonder about their AC unit or their cleaning protocol. Either way We still ordered one hot and iced coffee so we can try a couple of options and we both disliked what we got. I am a die hard iced caramel latte when trying new places because I know they are pretty simple drinks to make and don't run the risk of completely hating it. But this was soooo sweet that I tossed it after a few sips. The hot coffee we got was also so watered down that we almost tossed it but my husband really needed some coffee in his system so he did finish his. I am hoping it was an off day and the place outside is really nice but I don't think we will be returning in the future. read more

Really great coffee shop located near the downtown area of Paso Robles. I'm not sure how it's affiliated, but it's located next to the hotel Cheval (like is it an extension of the hotel or connected to the hotel? I wasn't really sure) What this place does have is delicious coffee and a really cool courtyard where you could hang out and enjoy your coffee. The inside space and the service is great here as well. My buddy and I wanted to grab coffee in the morning on a day we were about to go to a beer festival and found this place. It was conveniently located close to our motel so we just walked over. I didn't order anything fancy. I just got a drip coffee and added a little bit of cream. I thought the coffee tasted fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Since there is a lot of outdoor seating, it looks like you could bring your dogs here as well. In the future, it would be nice to try possibly one of their food items or one of their specialty drinks. But from the short visit that I did have, I'm a big fan. read more

I am always visiting downtown Paso Robles and I can't believe it was my first time stumbling into this adorable coffee shop. Just steps from the main square in Paso Robles is H. Cheval Coffee, a hidden oasis that makes you feel like you walked into a little side alley coffee shop in Europe! They make homemade honey infused vanilla syrup and it is absolutely delicious. I ordered the vanilla latte with this syrup and it was so, so good!! My favorite part (outside of the yummy coffee of course) was the absolutely adorable outdoor courtyard area with ample seating, lots of shade and SO many dogs! Not only is this place extremely dog friendly, but everyone is so friendly and the gentleman working at the counter was so welcoming to me and my pup. My husband and I wanted to have a small coffee after our lunch and prior to our mineral hot springs soak. After some digging, we decided on H. Cheval Coffee. It's an intimate coffee shop with a very nice outside patio seating area. It was a bit cold on the day we visited and it was starting to rain so we opted to sit inside. The decor inside have a rustic and modern feel. There were two other couples enjoying their afternoon coffee with one couple playing a game of checkers while sipping their drink. I ordered a regular size latte with oat milk. The coffee was smooth and fragrant. The amount of foam to coffee was just perfect and I loved the foam art. Service was fast and the waitress who took our order was patient and warm. They also have a shelf with some of their coffee beans for sale. My husband only drinks decaf coffee and he was amazed with the variety of decaf coffee beans they sell. If we ever come back to Paso Robles, we will definitely revisit this quaint little coffee shop again. read more

I only really come down here in PR to visit a friend. We both came down to this coffee shop before leaving and ended up not ordering anything to drink. Their burritos to go are great, but they're premade vs homemade. They have very limited drinks and flavors. I tried to order a vanilla latte and they couldn't for some reason. My friend just ended up getting a blended drink that was ok. Won't give them anything lower than 3 stars since I didn't try their drink. I would 100% recommend AMSTRDM coffee though! They have a lot more flavor options, alternative milk, and better food. No hate, just not much to offer here. read more

I don't like writing poor reviews, but I do write honest ones.... This morning, I went what was formerly Andrea's on Pine (). Sadly, they have closed, replaced by H. Cheval Coffee. It is the same lovely space, with a tree covered patio, as well as indoor tables. It is a counter service establishment. Food selection is limited primarily to muffins, but they do offer quiche. I ordered a piece of the Quiche and a latte for breakfast. Actually, it would be hard to be more disappointed....the latte was very hohum and the quiche tasted at least "day old". One cut side was dried out, the crust hard (vs. flaky), with the general overall flavor uninteresting. It contained prosciutto (yum), but was dense and dry. This place used to be very busy on a Saturday morning....not today, although a few regulars were warmly greeted by the barista. (In contrast, The Red Scooter Deli, across the street, was packed!) This is most likely my last visit, to what was a favorite breakfast spot. read more
