Gyro Corner has been one of my go to's for a gyro since high school! The service is always quick as can be whether its dine in or take out. Great portions for the prices also. You'll always have enough for a second meal. If I want a quick bite, I'll get a lamb gyro but for dine in, I typically get a salad and their meat platter which leaves me with enough for lunch and dinner the next day. Neighborhood staple and always a great option in Queens!

This place is very old school family style which we don't have many of left! I order take out at least 1-2 times a week because the food is always fresh and fast. All the meats are delicious - my family likes the chicken donor the best! There's an indoor area if you want to dine in and an outdoor seating when the weather gets warmer. The boss is always on top of everything, welcoming and you'll see him sometimes hop in to help when it gets busy! You can't go wrong if you're looking for a good large lunch / dinner! Also always get extra pita and tzatziki!!

I love coming here, whether it's to dine or take out. I usually get the Greek salad with chicken or a combo platter (chicken doner & gyro are always my fav) The meat is always fresh and they give you a nice amount! Combo comes with a small salad & a side. As per sides, you can't go wrong with the lemon potatoes or rice. FYI - The tzatziki is one of the best in the neighborhood .. I could eat pita & tzatziki everyday.. honestly ... heehee The service is always quick, treat you great & they have outdoors now so if you have a pup, you're more than welcome to bring them along! The ambiance feels old school which is my favorite! Can't go wrong!

Souvlaki Stick

Arguably the most flavorful, Gyro and Souvlaki and Bayside area. No disrespect to Gyro Corner's competitors, but the char on the meats were on point as well as the tasty, sizzling halloumi, and the well-dressed Horiatiki salad. It's not a fancy place by any measure, but tavernas in Greece are notorious for their simplicity and judged by the flavor they put on the plate. Gyro Corner definitely emulates the classic Souvlaki Taverna of any town in Greece large or small. The service is snappy and attentive, primarily because there aren't a lot of tables inside. This is definitely more of a delivery takeout joint. Nice and small, some would even say intimate. The constant entertainment of watching the staff fly around to fulfill what seems to be a million orders a night makes for great background harmonious to whatever discussion you're having with your company. Congratulations to the people that have this place going, I can recall approximately 15 years of them being around but that's only because I was unfamiliar with the area. I wonder how long they've been open, either way they're killing it.

Octopus with scan bar in my plate when I picked it up took home throw it in the garbage got so grossed out
Francis C.

Many people on yelp site asking me what is it ? It's goes to show you that even in restaurants Americans are hiring more employees without board of health rules and regulations about cleaning foods for public can eat. It's obvious that the octopus wasn't carefully washed and rinsed. So now your ass log can be scanned with an LED see how much they paid for the octopus.

THE BEST FOOD IN NYC!!!! I've been going to Gyro Corner for 10+ years and the food never disappoints. Everyone is so welcoming and service is immaculate. They have catered all of my family's birthdays and holidays. I've tried many Greek restaurants in the area and it was not as delicious as this place. Highly recommended 10/10!

Lamb gyro

I have been here a couple of times and have enjoyed every time I go. I have tried their chicken souvlaki, lamb gyro, greek salad and lemon potatoes. I recently had their lamb gyro which was delicious. The lamb is cooked perfectly, the tzatziki sauce is creamy and goes well with sandwich. The only thing I didn't love was that the tomatoes were cut way too thick for a sandwich and would be better chopped in small chunks. Also thing I didn't love was that the AC wasn't working in such a hot day and we had to sit outside which was not too comfortable since it was hot. Not sure if the AC is permanently not working or if it was just that day that I went.

Shrimp Kabob
Sita P.

Ordered from this spot for the first time, $18.95 for the shrimp kabob platter, came with pita, salad , & a side. Pretty good deal however you only get 5 shrimp and they were over cooked! The chicken kabob was a lot better. Rice & tzaziki sauce were tasteless Salad dressing tasted like watered down oil

They sat us down near the windows and the entire restaurant was so clean and comfortable. The prices were very fair for the amount of food you get. Disappointing Easter Celebration - Not Worth the 2-Hour Drive…read more My family and I (a party of five, including my elderly mother) visited Plateia GR on Sunday, April 12th at 3 pm for an Easter meal. My niece and two great-grandnieces drove two hours from High Bridge, NJ, just to spend this special day with me and their "Yiayia," but unfortunately, the meal and service did not live up to the occasion. While the atmosphere was lovely - airy and remeniscent of a Greek island - the meal and experience was downhill from there. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by our waiter, Yianni, and seated in the front area by the windows as Voula had promised the day before. Yianni handed us our menus but when I asked for a physical Easter menu, Yianni repeatedly told me to look it up online. Only after I questioned this did he provide two small index cards listing the Easter specials for our party of five. As Greeks, we were all looking forward to the Arni (lamb), but at $40 per plate, it was incredibly disappointing. The meat was mostly bone and extremely chewy - not at all the "slow-cooked" consistency we expected. To make matters worse, the "house salad" listed alongside the Arni (lamb) entree was just a handful of greens on the same plate. At this price point, a separate salad and a cup of Avgolemano soup should have been included. (The Avgolemano soup ordered separately at $10 a bowl {only offered in bowl size} was very tasty and enjoyed by all.) Throughout our meal, Yianni was often nowhere to be found, or seemingly preoccupied with on a tablet at the counter. We had to flag down a very accommodating young lady on staff to address our needs. We were also only served one small platter of pita cut into triangles with a tiny container of tzatseki for five people. When we asked for more, the second plate arrived without any sauce. Following our meal, we weren't even served any Tsoureki (Traditional Greek Easter sweet bread) for dessert as we had expected. I still left a $40 tip (over 18%) out of respect for our shared heritage and the holiday, but after a total bill of $262.11, we left feeling very let down. When family travels that far for a special holiday meal you hope for better. It's unfortunate that a neighborhood spot would offer such poor value and service on such a significant occasion.

There's a lovely rustic, yet high end vibe. It's also immaculate. Our server was fantastic...just the right balance of friendly, attentive and helpful. It was hard to choose appetizers because I actually wanted one of each. There aren't a lot of Mediterranean choices near where I live currently so my eyes were definitely WAY bigger than my stomach. That said, we shared the halloumi and three different dips served with warm pita. Then we added a last minute choice of grilled sweet sausage for my stepdad. Before we even received our appetizers, they brought a lovely pile of warm pita with delicious sides to accompany: olives, white bean spread, and red pepper hummus (I believe... whatever it was, it was delicious!). The appetizers were outstanding and it was really hard to pick a favorite. Each one of the dips was delightful: taramasalata, hummus, and eggplant. I tasted a bite of the sausage and I understood why my stepdad enjoyed it so much (perfectly cooked and just the right amount of seasoning). The appetizers were new to my mom and she truly enjoyed everything. Her main course was crabcakes and she raved about those as well. I chose the Souvlaki with a side of grilled vegetables and it was exactly what I wanted with perfectly spiced and not overcooked cubes of chicken. The other grilled chicken dish got a huge thumbs up...and that's from a super picky eater. We topped everything off by sharing a large piece of cake that was very decadent....and even though I love chocolate,.... no way I could've finished it by myself. It had an Oreo crust and the rest was a rich chocolate mousse. Next time? Baklava. Looking forward to going back to visit the fam and enjoying Maria's again. Maybe they can open up a location near Saratoga? Just saying...

We started with the traditional Greek salad and combination platter because it wouldn't be summer without these staples. The tomatoes were garden fresh and cold and but the feta stole the show. It was so good I'm sure it came from their pet goat in the yard! The gyro and souvlaki combo platters were perfectly cooked and surprisingly not greasy. The pita was cooked to perfection and sturdy enough to hold up under the weight of our meat livers paradise. By far my favorite gyro place!

The service was still good, and the ambiance is bright and welcoming, which I appreciated. The gyro itself was just okay this time, nothing too memorable. The fries were good definitely needed some salt, but that's just my personal preference. The chicken skewer was solid and probably the highlight of the meal. My biggest issue was the Greek salad. It was mostly cucumbers, and the feta cheese had a really strange flavor. I'm not sure what brand they use, but I've never tasted feta like that before, and not in a good way. It completely threw me off. That experience alone was enough to turn me away. I think I'll stick with the pricier Greek spots that I know are more consistent.

He was feeling like Greek food, and suggested Mythos based off the positive experiences he's had here in the past. This sounded great, so off we went. Mythos is a pretty spacious restaurant - the dining room is very open with tables scattered throughout the space. The chairs are kinda big and I would argue that it was a little cumbersome navigating the tables but overall not too bad. The kitchen is semi-open with a display case separating it from the dining room that looks like it holds food to be prepared. Their menu is pretty extensive without being overwhelming - all of the Greek staples were there. We were started with their house-made bread that came with black-eyed peas and some hummus. This was delicious, so much that we ordered dips as an app to complement the bread more mmm. We also started with the halloumi and a slice of spanakopita. The halloumi had a somewhat unique preparation - I'm used to a single slab that's maybe complemented with a sauce that I would need to slice. Instead, these were pre-sliced and placed on top of pita complemented with tomato and cucumber. This was delicious, all the flavors and textures worked well together. The spanakopita was really tasty - it was a healthy slice that we were able to share and again, super flavorful. For my main, I went with the garides mikrolimano which were shrimp prepared in a red wine-ish sauce, some feta, and served over rice. This was delicious - the sauce had layers of flavor and served as a great vehicle to unite the shrimp and the rice. Service was fine - we were taken care of promptly and food came out at a good pace. It was a little impersonal but I kind of expected that - I wouldn't go into this restaurant thinking you'll be getting an experience when it comes to the service - just straight to the point. Overall though, I thought the food at Mythos was excellent and I had a great experience. I would hesitate to return for another meal.
