I returned to Gypsy kitchen to give it another try on a less busy night. It was much better on a Thursday, as opposed to the weekend. The service was excellent. My date and I really enjoyed the tapas and the paella. We ordered the garlic shrimp, octopus, potatoes, Brussel sprouts and paella. All were tasty. I also really loved my cocktail: the trust fund kid. The atmosphere is also very trendy and fun. Definitely a great place to go out if you want to get dressed up. Overpriced and the food is average. Purchased a "paella" after waiting 45 minutes (the menu does say that it takes that much time), they came out with fried rice and 1/2 a cup of veggies plopped on top. I have had real paella and this is scam. I spoke to the waiter about it, and they admited that its not the real stuff. Personally, if you know you can't make it in the alotted time, don't claim for your dish to be authentic and charge $20+ for it. Will never go back. read more

A friend had recommended Gypsy Kitchen to me for a Friday evening out. I had guests visiting from out of town who were interested in a unique, local restaurant to try. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The server was attentive and the food was great. We shared the mixed green salad and ordered various tapas including pork kabobs (on special), garlic shrimp, duck tacos, fried potatoes, and a meat and cheese plate. Everything was wonderful. We also ordered drinks from the cocktail menu. The atmosphere at Gypsy Kitchen is fun and a bit lively. -- I had self parked in the Buckhead Village parking garage, but being Friday evening it took about 10 minutes to find an open spot. The experience we had on our date night at GK was a testament to the pretentiousness of this place. My only regret was actually having a drink at GK. We left there and went to La Bilboquet where we were greeted warmly and had an amazing time. Lesson for GK staff is that all too often you don't get a second chance to correct the first impression. I took a client and his wife that were visiting from LA there and they thought it reminded them of the restaurants on Rodeo Dr. For dinner we ordered the charcuterie and a few tapas. Charcuterie is outside of my dining repertoire so I had tons of questions. Fortunately our waitress, Leah, was impressively knowledgeable about the cheeses, meats and wine pairings. Our experience here was phenomenal. Robin was such as awesome waitress, from the time we sat down. We asked her to move to the outdoor patio, but only if we could keep her as a waitress. She promptly checked on this, and escorted us out to the patio. She was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond during our dining experience. To top things off, the general Manager, Ali Enbrahimi, visited our table and checked in with us to see how our experience was. Located in Buckhead Atlanta, Gypsy Kitchen is a spanish-inspired restaurant that's great for after work drinks and a night out. Quite the buzzy new hot spot, Gypsy Kitchen's food is just OK. Appetizers include "spanish-style" toast for about three dollars for two pieces. We tried the fresh tomatoes with garlic which were a nice starter and the tomato resembled puree. Another nice appetizer was the Lamb Kefta Tagine with a nice runny egg to dip some crusty bread into. Less exciting were the entrees. Tried the "paella" fried rice which tastes exactly like it sounds (notice emphasis of paella in quotes). Located at the Streets Buckhead (now called The Shops Buckhead Atlanta) The atmosphere is alluring with a marriage between Spanish and Moroccan details, rustic, earthy, upscale, modern design and decor. The colors are bold and attractive, the lighting is romantic and star-like. It took a minute for us to be greeted, but it wasn't a big deal. A nice young woman addressed us, and we were seated at a little table on the balcony which is shared with Southern Gentlemen next door. The evening couldn't have been nicer with the warm temperature, soft breeze and intense sunset which only enhanced the experience. All of these elements combined presumed the idea we were in a Spanish, Moroccan, Indian Neverland. Our server was friendly, knowledge, and prompt. We ordered a few small plates to share. The cauliflower was prepared nicely and the seasoning was spot on (highly recommended). The leeks were delicious, but too oily for my liking. I savored a glass of Merlot that was decently priced. I would go again with a dinner date or meet someone for a drink. You'd want to make sure your dining partner had a taste for this type of food. read more

Having been to Gypsy Kitchen for a networking event a month back, I didn't check out their Yelp page because the few apps I had were good, the drinks were generous & the patio is gorgeous. It was a no brainer to come back for a sit down dinner (on the patio, of course) & try out some more small plates. We had some cocktails before being seated; simple vodka soda & a vodka tonic (with cucumber) were great. The scene outside for dinner was awesome; Gypsy Kitchen really hit the jackpot with this design & space for a patio. As you can see from other reviews, though, the patio is what is keeping their status as high as it is. Our food wasn't bad, but it was barely memorable. The Spanish Cigars helped save dinner, as they were packed with flavor! Dates, jamon serrano wrapped like an egg roll, we loved them! The mushrooms, potatoes & Kataifi wrapped shrimp were all flavorless & boring. It says a lot about Iberian Pig when they set the standard for tapas in Atlanta, so it's clear some tweaks need to be made to these items. I would definitely return to try a few more small plates & maybe an entree. As you can tell from every review, the patio is amazing, but they need to step up their culinary game if they want to survive in a city with incredible restaurants. read more

Finally came to try this place out! Tried a few things and I say the best thing was the churos! Haha! Everything else were just okay. I don't mean it the bad way, they were just average I say. The paella was too wet and the flavors of the ingredients were blend. Good cheese thou. Mussels, I have had better. I had the Seville Rose cocktail to drink. The location bar set up and rooftop have all the makings of a grown and sexy atmosphere. That's where the hype ends here for me. Tapas Grilled Octopus was good but that's it just good. Nothing that will make me say I have to come back. Shrimp-ok Beef - decent Drinks- Had a speciality drink-Ok This restaurant was over hyped and over priced for ok food. Visited the Gypsy Kitchen for a birthday dinner on March 28, 2015. Restaurant space is extremely loud and not conducive to dinner conversation. Drink service is incredibly slow. Order your next drink when your first one is delivered to improve your experience. Quality of food was good and drinks were tasty. And those are the most important factors, except when you're with a big party trying to have a conversation. The SERRANO WRAPPED NC TROUT was very good. They serve dirty martinis without olives, which was rather odd. We ate in the patio area. With floor to ceiling windows it was cold and used for large parties so it was loud and cramped. Arrived here at 8 pm on Saturday night. Place was rocking. Had an 8 30 reservation and hung out at the bar until then with my date. We had a couple drinks. Bartenders were attentive and friendly. For our meal we shared a few tapas: hot mussels, chicken croquetas and patatas bravas. The patatas were very good. The croquetas seemed a bit doughy. My date (who happens to be part Spanish) said they were more like hush puppies than croquetas. The mussels were just okay. Service was very good. Our server recommended a beer based on my preferences, and came back with a different one he thought I would enjoy even more. Good call on his part. This place has a lot of energy. It's also very loud. Not optimal for a first or second date. I would say the noise level is greater than "average." Would I go back? Maybe if I was looking for someplace of this size and energy. I would not if I was looking for great food. I would instead head to Eclipse di Luna, Iberian Pig or Barcelona. read more

I have been anxious to try this restaurant for sometime now being that I've the location and their social media page really impressed me. The experience was not terrible but I think that their execution of final late night dinner tables could be better. The service was nice and friendly but I could tell that because it was that later at night we received the slow not prompt service that earlier tables did not. Being that I do work in food & beverage I know the signs. The waitress was slow to come back and get drink orders, she was slow EXTREMELY slow to greet us, the hostess gave us a dirty menu with food pieces on it and sat us at a dirty table that we had to ask to be wiped off. And I have also worked at a tapas restaurant before so I am familiar with the style, in that things do come out at the pace of which they're cooked, but it is always very helpful and considerate when the server lets you know that is what's happening. I would have liked it if she had reminded me and told my guests that the items would be out at the pace I was there cook so they would not come out altogether small details like that are what makes great service and makes for a better tip. another small detail that I feel like she overlooked due to being ready to leave (which she did inform us of) is that when she dropped off my date's second cherry Coke she didn't pick up the old glass, she didn't pick up the old empty glass until she came back around a third time which kind of really irritated me. Overall the food was fabulous we enjoyed the octopus the asparagus and the lamb chops my dad had a cherry Coke and I had a glass of bubbly everything was hot everything was flavorful and it was wonderful otherwise. I would certainly return in the summertime or the spring because the patio looks wonderful and the menu is nice to snack on but not overindulge but word of advice: do not go when it is close to the kitchen being close if you want excellent stellar service. read more

My wife and I thought this would have been a nice experience since we were very familiar with Spanish Tapas restaurants and it was right across from the Condo where we were staying and was not very busy. While the reception and wait service were very good, the food was just really bad and downright nasty. The Marinated Octopus was in pure vinegar, the Paella had no taste, everything was bland and had no taste. This was the worse Tapas experience er have had and we have had Tapas all over the world, including Spain and the original Barcelona of Norwalk, CT. Our server Jason was top notch, yeah our water glasses weren't always full but even when he was busy taking care of bigger tables he took the time to ask what we needed and helped us with the menu and recommended great dishes keeping in mind our table was mostly vegetarian. Even my carnivore brother enjoyed the vegetarian dishes. Highly recommend the whipped goat cheese. It's served with two small pieces of bread but we also ordered the mushrooms and ate the goat cheese with them. So tasty. The food was good and the drinks were phenomenal, Jason was even better. My friends and I went to Gypsy Kitchen last Friday, and the place was PACKED! It was a beautiful rooftop and atmosphere. The only reason I took off stars was because I feel from our experience + skimming through the reviews that there is an issue with service. It took a LONG time for us to get refills on drinks and our food. I definitely get that it was super packed, I've waitresed before it can be hectic-- however our waitress barely checked up on us. I will say, once we got our food it was delicious. I split mussels with a friend and it was really good. The manager ended up giving us a free Sangria carafe to make up for the hour + wait for our food. Our group ended up leaving very happy, but I have to say it was mainly because the manager completely made up for the issue! (no hate on the waitress she was super nice, just definitely too backed up) read more

My husband found this restaurant a year ago, and we were thrilled to have a "true " taste of Spain. Returning tonight, we were sadly disappointed with with tonight's dinner. The waitress told us that the sangria was now "...poured from a tap and the orange slice was garnish." The potatoes were just like they came out of the freezer and nothing like our last visit. The chicken croquettes were like breaded chicken salad. The paella rice was gummy and cold. 4 shrimp and 2 muscles. I had a terrible experience. The "30 minute" wait turned into a hour and a half wait. So by this time it is very late in the evening and we have just been seated. 20 minutes pass without even water in our glasses. I have to go up to the front desk and ask for a waitress/waiter. Finally about 5-10 minutes later they arrive. So now my date and I are there at 945 and are really hungry, and we finally get to order food. The ticket time was super fast and the food came out quick and hot. Too hot. My date burns her mouth on the potatoes because they were scolding hot. Luckily I was able to see her reaction first so I didn't do the same. So we just sit there waiting for the food to cool down after waiting to eat for about 2 hours and 15 minutes. Well, I had a pretty good experience while celebrating a birthday at Gypsy Kitchen. Yes, it is a bit pricy but the atmosphere is pretty good! The food was very delicious. I was there in a saturday night while it was extremely crowded but that's what we hoped for! A Turkish guy helped us to find a good table and we received a really good service. Wow! From the moment you walk in you're surrounded by a pleasant ambiance and a cool place to vibe with friends and family. I was immersed in this Morrocan like atmosphere and loved every minute of it! From the colors to the drapery it was awesome! Drinks are definitely one of a kind and delicious. I particularly enjoyed the Iberian Spritzer. It was light and fruity (I had 3 lol). At one point I saw the bartender put 2 egg whites into a drink...not sure what it was but you can tell they get creative with the drinks! Food=delicious!!! My friend and I shared tapas plates. The garlic shrimp and mushroom are seasoned to perfection! Our waiter Alex was attentive, fast and informative.
