Nice place to sit down and have some Spanish tapas and wine .The food was great octopus was on point wish they would have Croquettes , the waiters could use a bit more Spanish flair but I understand that can be hard to come by in Buckhead GA . I would suggest to management to take a field trip to Barcelona and see what they can bring back . Just a suggestion ! I will be back I have a feeling this place will grow not that it's not a hit already with the locals . I love garlic but as soon as they sat there down I took a bite and they were soggy and smelled. so we replaced with scallops and lamb chops. 3.5 stars. This was my first visit, and I generally round up for a review after 1 visit, which is what I'm doing here. Overall, service was great, cocktails were great, but the food was hit or miss (with a couple big misses). Take away the beet salad and this would be a 3 star review riding on excellent cocktails and service. Service - 5 stars. I wish I would have caught our server's name as she was awesome - friendly/fun, on top of things, and great drink recs. Also, we were originally seated in the indoor patio area that has garage door style windows. Being a cold night, they were closed, and the room was packed and incredibly loud. We sat down and found we had to basically yell at each other to have a conversation so we asked to be moved, and they immediately gave us a table on the tented patio. That patio room definitely needs some sound dampening, but otherwise the environment is good. Cocktails - 5 stars. Wifey and I shared so I got to try a lot. Both their Gintonic and South of Spain gin and tonic are delicious. The spice trader has a great kick and was probably my favorite, but is probably not for everyone (definitely not for wifey). Venezuelan sunrise was also very good, although too sweet for me to drink more than 1. Wifey loved the '50 Shades of Purple' but it was too sweet for me. Food - 2.5 stars. Disappointing. Specifics: --Meat and cheese board - Manchego and Jamon Serrano are both good, but not notable. Mahon is generally a very mild cheese and has no place on a cheese board, IMO, but wifey wanted to try it - she quickly understood why I wouldn't have. The Spanish Chorizo was the star here - great complex flavor. The bread was 'cut up the roof of your mouth' over-toasted and the accompaniments just didn't quite work for me. Not bad individually, but didn't really work on the board. The pickled vegetables were good by themselves, but for me they didn't pair well with the meats/manchego (I think they do pair well with mild, unaged, or creamy cheeses). The caramelized onions were delicious, but overwhelmed the meat and cheese if eaten together. There was also what I think was a tomato-pepper jam that was fine, but we mostly didn't use it. --Beet salad - Highly recommended. I'm not a beet fan, but thought this was the best overall dish we had. Beautifully composed all around. --Roasted Mushrooms & Farmers cheese toast - pretty good overall, but had the same uber-brittle/crunchy, crumbling bread issue as the meat/cheese board that really detracted from the toppings. I would have preferred the mushrooms flavor to pop a bit more, but still tasty. Wifey doesn't like mushrooms, but she liked this. --Tuna crudo - big miss. The menu description sounds great to me, but it didn't look appetizing and didn't taste good. Wifey took one bite and just said "No." It falls in the category of "why would they serve this?" In hindsight, we should have sent it back. --Croquetas del pollo - Solid - tastes like a fried chicken pot pie ball. Not something I'd feel compelled to order again, but good. --Seafood Paella - very disappointing, in part because I'd heard great things about it. I have to wonder if it was just a bad night, because I thought La Fonda's seafood paella is better at less than half the price. The shrimp and mussels were very fresh, but that's about as positive as I can go. The dish just lacked flavor, and the chorizo was barely there - about halfway through I thought "wait, isn't this supposed to have chorizo in it?" Then I looked closely and found a few chorizo crumbs. I think wifey liked it less than I did. read more

We started off with the Manchego.. it was a disappointing spread, stale bread lathered in olive oil to distract from its dryness, random pickled veggies, the caramelized onion spread was the most decent thing on the plate. Food was underwhelming, 3 of 6 dishes were totally sent back. The octopus was overcooked, the sauces accompanying it were bland and didn't mesh how I would have wanted. This is a good place to have some tapas and drinks. The design is nice, the food was mostly very good, the service was average - but Im factoring in the fact that it was Halloween weekend. I recommend it for brunches or late lunch. Also It was loud - even though we were seated outside at the Patio. We could not hear each other talking, and the table next us was extremely loud. The server forgot about us sometimes - especially when we ordered drinks, our water was not refilled until after asking for it more than once. Price wise, its not cheap. Expect to pay an average of 16 dollars per plate, you'd need 3 plates to be full if you are on your own. read more

Such a cute sport for drink, lunch/ dinner. Since I was visiting Atlanta, it was my first time here on a Sunday afternoon and loved every moment of it. This place runs neck and neck to many of resturant that we have in Los Angeles. The ambiance is gorgeous, staying outside patio, beautifully decorated both inside and out! It was cold outside when we came and we sat outside too-- I would just recommend for them to get more heaters since it's really not enough for each table to have their own, and personally speaking, two per table should be a minimum during the winter! read more

Whenever friends come to visit Atlanta, I bring them to Gypsy Kitchen for the verve and brightness. I visit Gypsy Kitchen a few days ago with my wife. We hadn't had a date night due to COVID in a while; going to this place didn't disappoint in any way. I love the atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant and the entire plaza. It's so hip and happening. We ordered patatas bravas, skirt steak and the roasted chicken. The first two didn't disappoint at all. Both of them were very rich in taste. The chicken, however, was a bit dry. It has some taste to it but ultimately it was disappointing considering the former two set the expectations really high. The food portions are extremely small, albeit delicious. so I wouldn't recommend coming here without eating first but it's definitely a good place for drinks. Also, the music is very loud so if you want an intimate night where you can actually hear the person you're with, I wouldn't recommend going there either. I tried Gypsy kitchen after it was open for about a year, which let them work out some of the kinks of being a new restaurant. My experience was very pleasant. Loved the patio, the lovely bar, and the atmosphere. For my drink I ordered a manhattan and it did not disappoint. We also tried some tapas: grilled octopus (this was a very successful dish and offered a good size portion), lamb tartar, which was unusual in preparation (I liked it but it was a bit heavy on the walnuts mixed in), foie gras (loved it), and paella - also very good. Overall I thought the food was great! For dessert I tried flan but it was a bit too heavy, almost cheesecake consistency. Went for opening night. The ambiance and decor are very fitting of the new Buckhead shopping center: classy and upscale. The patio looked really nice and I wanted to sit outside but was concerned that it was getting cold. With the help of the manager, we were able to get seats outside with the fans turned off and the space heaters turned on. The patio also have windows that could be closed. Tried several items. Wood grilled octopus with potato, paprika, garlic chips, and parsley. Who thought of this combination?! It was the best octopus I have ever eaten. It is tender and not chewy/rubbery as I have experienced with octopus in the past. The octopus was good enough to stand on its own but the different flavors of the sauce and garnish gave it a synergistic taste. This brought on a lot of excitement and anticipation for the following dishes... Kataifi wrapped shrimp. The description sounded very interesting. Shrimp stuffed with chorizo? Sold! Piquillo pepper aioli? Ok! This plate was anticlimatic. It was beautifully presented as it was flash fried. The taste and texture remind me of tempura shrimp. The taste and aioli were nothing to write home about. I was also disappointed with the chorizo. It didn't add much flavor to the dish. Good try though. Roasted sweet onions, cabrales blue cheese, and honey on slightly buttery (?) and toasted bread. Interesting! The wheat bread was perfectly toasted and the chef was generous with the blue cheese. I didn't care much for the smell of the blue cheese but it tasted ok. The sweet onions gave an interesting perspective to this little side dish. Lastly: medallion of hake with littleneck clams and green sauce. This was my first experience with hake and I thought that it was tender. It did not have much flavor but it certainly had more flavor than the parsley (?) green sauce which had no apparent flavor. The dish came with 5 clams and they were fishy and a bit salty for my taste. The staff was extremely nice and friendly and tried to be as helpful as they could. It was a good experience for opening night. One thing to improve upon is service. We waited for at least 30 minutes for the hake and it turned out that our order was forgotten several times. There weren't a lot of people when we arrived at 6:45 pm but this quickly changed by the time we left. For the price that we paid, we got a good taste of several items. The ambiance is nice and view is great. However, other than the amazing octopus, the food was not overwhelming and as with any new restaurant, efficiency of service could be improved. read more

We had drinks with a group of friends last night and it was a bit of a disappointment. We had dinner across the street at le Colonial (great spot!) and decided we didn't want to end the evening yet, so walked across to have a couple drinks. We walked to the outside area to see availability and it was mostly empty and there were heat lamps available (great!). There was a big sign that said please see host to be seated outside, so we walked back to the front and checked in with the two ladies at the front. They were nice, but said disregard the sign and please check in with staff near the sign for seats, so we walked back and did so, but the gentlemen there said we need to speak to the desk for a seat - told him what they said, so he said unless we are having dinner, we can't sit on the patio... I do understand the rules, but did ask politely would it be ok for seven of us to have a table at the patio anyway being it is almost empty? I said that will be at least 14 drinks and it was 10pm, so not likely to have many more additions outside... he said, sorry no. He did show us to two couches that are just outside the patio which we decided we would try - no service there, we had to go to the bar ourselves which was totally fine. Couches were a bit dark, but we asked a very nice staff member to light the heat lamp for us (he was awesome and I apologize I didn't ask his name) and we covered the outside speaker with about six pillows being it is next to the couch and was at volume 100 (same staff did ask someone else about lowering the volume a bit, but was told it was for everyone outside (literally the other six people at the patio). Sorry for the long review: - looks great and has a chic feel for drinks - check-in was a bit confused sign says one thing, desk says disregard, staff lead in section says go back to desk - we did get sorted and got a couch and made our own good time - understand about the need for food outside, but being so empty, not sure why they were willing to turn away a larger party who were committing to a $300 (or more) bill. However, they got our money anyway, so I guess they know what they are doing. - bartenders were a bit indifferent, but that seems to be the case for much of Buckhead. When you find a great bartender (and there are several in Buckhead) please tip them well! We will skip next time and try another of the other nearby spots. I would recommend you try for a drink, but if you feel a weird vibe or service isn't in line with pricing, there are several other options within a quick walk. read more

Gypsy Kitchen is located within the Buckhead shopping strip. It's a super trendy spot for people who like and want to be seen. Not really my thing, but I can have fun there! The space is open and the bar area is inviting. It has a fun metal bull right in the middle. The entrance is from an elevator so it's a little confusing the first time that you visit. Every Friday is Happy Hour from 4pm-6pm. What that means is that wine and champagne is $5 per glass!! It is a great place for a break after a long week of work!! The food is really good. We ordered the potatoes and chicken croquets. It was plenty to share with three people. read more
