Did family Easter dinner here on Sunday. Made a reservation through open table a week in advanced. First no parking available at this restaurant. You park on the street if available or at one of the city lots. They have three separate doors to enter but only allowed us to enter through the front where the have a fire pit out front. Walked in to be seated only to find out that they did not have our reservation. Found that quite odd but I guess it is what it is. After the host made a point to check her computer I guess she could seat us since there was only two other tables being used in the entire place. Again did not feel warm all over since there was plenty of seating so why make a fuss. Once seated we waited for our waitress who turned out to be pleasant. She took our drink order and gave us our menus. The Easter menus were sparse. We had meat eaters and vegetarians. We asked if the vegetarians could eat of the main menu since they had nothing on the Easter menu listed for them. No was the answer, Not Good. We did the bass which turned out to be a good dish with the corn n crab bass. The vegetarians had soup which turned out to be to sweet for potato leek. The drinks served before dinner were good other them being served in spotty or dirty wine glasses, did not go over well. On the second round my glass was cloudy with lip stick on it. Not good. After letting our waitress know this she came back with spotless glass. We finished and did not have dessert. This is our third time back here and my first write up about this place. I do not feel that this restaurant is living up to the idea they are trying to entertain. I don't think we will be back. I wish them well. read more

Friends came in from out of town, and Ambler was a good option since our friends were staying close by. What sold me on the idea to come here for their brunch. They run it on weekends, a nice menu with plenty of options and they offered all you can drink Mimosas or Bloody Mary's for $12. How could I pass that up?!? We had a slight wait and we also had to wait for the bar area. We got to the restaurant on the tail end of the brunch specials. We got there around 1pm & the brunch specials are from 10am to 2pm. Once we finally had our table ( there were 6 of us ) it seemed to take a long time before we placed our order. We ordered a second round of drinks, that literally sat on the bar to be picked up & brought to our table for at 15 minutes. Again, they were not that busy considering we got there after 1pm. By the time I received my Malibu Bay Breeze, it was completely watered down. I sent it back for a fresh one, I honestly think they just added more ice & some more Malibu. We ordered truffle fries for the table, since we were all hungry. They were good, no complaints. Our food on the other hand was not what we expected. I ordered the cheesesteak eggs benedict. I thought it was different & something new to try for brunch. There was hardly any meat on it & it was brisket meat but steak. It came out on the colder side, and they accommodated my request for the hollindaise sauce on the side. Three people in our party ordered the Salmon eggs benedict and it did not come out with capers. When we mentioned it the waitress, she said it's because there is a new cook, and it's the end of brunch. Odd, I thought of her response it then she proceeds to tell us they have plenty of large jars of capers in the back. I'm not sure why she was telling us this, because one person in our party sent it back & was very disappointed in this dish. Another person in our party ordered French toast, said it was delicious but when the waitress brought out the syrup it was almost empty! I would have never done that, and I did wait tables for almost 2 years. We finally got refills on our water when we all were pretty much finished our meal & she never came to check in on us. Needless to say we hated our service and when the bill came, she told us she took off the one salmon benedict, but failed to mention she added 20% gratuity to our bill. She was no where to be found after dropping it off & we just paid it because at that point we just wanted to get out of there. We are not the type of people to leave nothing as a tip but we definitely were not going to give her 20%. This was our first & last time there. Was in the area with the family and thought we would try it out, friendly staff and our server was great. But the food isn't good, the kids had the sliders, my daughter said my burger is all slimy in the middle, when I looked the burgers weren't cooked in the middle. I ordered the shrimp and grits starter, shrimp were tasteless the grits had no seasoning. For my main I tried one of the flat breads when it came out the bottom was burnt and the top was under cooked. And for some reason the kitchen likes to put dry parsley on all the dishes. I don't like to leave a negative review especially when restaurants need our support in these difficult times but there's much better places to eat in ambler. Was there for a brunch with a group of ladies. Drinks were ordered, the server did ask for ID for a younger attendee a few minutes later we were approached by someone who did not identify himself and advised the ID was flimsy & fake and not serving the young lady. He was advised that's how the licenses are. He did come back to the table and was very rude, abrupt and non apologetic for his actions. We'd been excited to try this place since we noticed to the area a couple months ago and left very disappointed. The service was good but the food was underwhelming. I had the tomato bisque that was so thick it felt like I was eating a reheated jar of pasta sauce. Our meals, the chicken sandwich and the chicken/ricotta/spinach flatbread were tough and tasteless. We recently moved into the area and were recommended this restaurant. The following plates were ordered: gypsy blue chips (chives and blue cheese) chicken and pickles sandwich, crab cakes, burger, steak frites, and Korean short ribs. I liked the chips but the overall main dishes were not that great. The chicken sandwich was to dried out almost like it sat under a heat lamp while the other food was prepared. Most food really had no flavor. Our waiter could have been more attentive to our drinks. The kitchen was running behind and it was communicated to us and the Steak Frites were comp'd so that was a plus. I don't know if we would come back for dinner or lunch. I loved gypsy Blu but after last night I will never go there again. My boyfriend is severely allergic to nuts and whenever we go out to eat he always asks "is there nuts in anything?" Well we ordered the honey ginger wings, he Had one bite and immediately had an allergic reaction and threw up over the ledge outside because his throat was closing. Both the waitress and manager would not admit that he asked if anything had nuts in it. All they did was take that one item off the menu they barely apologized but still defended themselves and did not do anything else to help. We were a party of 10 none of us are going back they really screwed up. This overpriced place was a fun night out every once in a while but definitely not worth it if they're not going to care about their customers when they actually throw up outside and stop breathing. read more

*Update* Don't go to Gypsy if you want to sit outside and just have drinks as they dont allow it and also your group can't be more than 4 outside. Gypsy Blue has taken over the former location of 34 East, Fin McCools and the Wyndam Hotel. The interior layout has remained mostly the same with the extremely over sized bar that takes up way to much of the restaurant. A wall was built at the rear of the bar and a half wall was constructed on the opposite side of the bar to separate the dining area.. I still think the bar is way too big. It's hard to find a place to stand so if you can't sit at the bar it gets pretty tight. They did a complete 180 with the decor for the better. Its like a cross between the Lucky Well and Deterra. The past establishments in this location were bar's that served food. I feel that Gypsy is a restaurant that has a bar. This isn't a spot you should walk in with ripped jeans and slayer tee shirt. Gypsy Blu did a good job for their first night. There were some bumps in the road but the food was fantastic. I had pasta with pork cheek and mussels in a white sauce. Both were exceptional. I will head back in a few weeks and update my review when they have the full menu. They will have (8) wines on tap and a plethora of beers as well. I spoke with one of the owners and she said they should be operating at 100% soon. I'm not going to dwell on the negatives since they rushed to get open except for the patio furniture. The chairs might be the most uncomfortable chairs I've ever sat in and the tables are very small. We had (4) people and it was hard to fit the plates drinks on the table. Overall I think Gypsy Blu is a fantastic addition to the Ambler dining scene and I look forward to coming back for dinner. read more

We stopped here today, not expecting a whole lot. I was incredibly wrong. Pam, our server was the greatest. Very engaging to a couple of "out of towners " and was very outgoing. Had the cheesesteak rolls, that where so tasty I can't wait to return. The Cobb Salad was the best I ever had - places have a way of killing it with salt, not this one. Spot on. Definitely will be returning here when we're back in the area. They get it here, and this place should be used as a model for others. read more

I'm so happy my husband and I stopped by this restaurant while exploring the cute town of Ambler, PA. I ordered a spinach beet salad that was delicious and fresh. The owner introduced himself and was very friendly. It's outdoor seating only right now due to covid but he has heaters outside and the tables are very clean. Friendly and attentive waitress. I went inside to use the restroom and the inside of the restaurant is beautiful. The bathroom is very clean and they have paper towels (that's important to me because I always use a paper towel to open the bathroom door.) Loved this place. Wish I lived closer, I'd be a regular. Beautiful space and warm, friendly service. For example - I asked our waitress which beer on tap was the lightest lager. I got a "hot mess," a burger with brisket cheese and an over easy egg. for $19 I was expecting a hefty messy sloppy burger and what I got was comparable to a whopper. thin patty, 2 quarter size pieces of brisket(and that's being generous) and an egg. my wife had the wild mushroom risotto which she said tasted good when eating the risotto with a piece of mushroom(there was about 8 pieces) and extremely bland without a piece of mushroom; almost like they cooked the risotto separate from the mushrooms and just added them on the top. our first experience here bad but we decided to give them another chance, won't be coming back. were from conshy and we have had plenty of great meals at Stella blu and gypsy; didn't find out until after this last time that the restaurant was sold and is under new ownership. don't be fooled, save your money and go to Burger King for a better meal. read more

We ventured out for brunch today. Service was great, the server was super nice and attentive. We sat outside which was also very nice. My biggest hang up with this place is that the food is average at best. I had a brunch burger which needed to be more heavily seasoned. My wife had a grilled chicken sandwich she rated just okay. This place is absolutely adorable!! I recently started a new job which has me driving past here every day. My fiancé and I decided to try it for brunch and it was awesome! 12$ unlimited bloody Mary's or mimosas (too late in the day to partake but next time we will) and a variety of breakfast/lunch foods to choose from. I ordered the breakfast quesadillas and my fiancé got the brunch burger which was out of this world. The breakfast potatoes were the best I've ever had. Had reservations for Friday night. Met some friends there. Were seated early but one of our group was running late. We decided to move to the bar for happy hour until the last of our party arrived. The waitress freaked out and started to cry but luckily the GM saves the night. Took our order and made sure we had everything we needed. When the last of our party arrived, we were moved to another waitresses section. Happy hour was great - nice wine selections and great snacks. We were so full from HH but ordered sandwiches for dinner. Two thumbs up for the short rib grilled cheese and fries. Chicken sandwich was also good. Truffle oil fries were amazing. Although irritating, what did work in this restaurant's favor was the fact that three people (management) came over, apologized and explained they were really busy. They didn't make excuses and were quite pleasant in conversation. My son frequents this establishment and said it is normally not that way at all. I got food poisoning here. So did another member of my dinner party. Other than that, the food was okay and the server was really nice and accommodating to our large party of 10 (it was a slow Tuesday night though so I can't speak to busy nights/service at those times). I contacted management about the food poisoning to avoid other patrons possibly having a similar issue and they never got back to me. Overall, this was my second time coming here- this time for dinner and previously for brunch. I probably wouldn't recommend it to others. read more

2 stars is generous if I'm being honest. I came here today with 5 of my family members. We were seated right away and the service was very nice and our waitress was very nice. However, I ordered the avocado toast and she didn't ask me how I wanted my egg on top cooked. When the food came out, mine and my cousin's who got the same thing as me was straight up cold. It tasted like something that had been sitting out for 2 hours. My aunt got the french toast, and it was $13, and the serving size was so atrociously small we thought it was a joke at first. They tried to make the French toast plate look all fancy and high-end, but it didn't look good and was just overall so little food for what it costed. First time I was here for an event. the place was packed with both the restsurant/bar, our event and Oktoberfest. the wait staff worked hard to ensure all patrons were taken care of, especially given how packed the place was. Very disappointing. Every month, I try to go to a new local restaurant with my friends. Harvest and Farm and Fisherman Tavern are the winners so far. The Gypsy Blue's building and outside and inside seating is very nice and the hostess was very friendly, too. Unfortunately, their chef is not, neither the male waiter who served us today. I am vegetarian and Gypsy Blue's menu for people like me is lacking in options. With the trend of vegetarians and vegan population growing every day, this restaurant seems to be behind the evolution. I ordered fried sweet potatoes and a beet salad. The first came to me burned almost to a rock, besides as salty as the Dead Sea. It made me think, "Maybe the chef is lacking on education about cooking or they are trying to kill their customers?!" Although, I told the waiter about my diet, he didn't point out that the salad I ordered has meat in it. (Sorry, don't speak meat!) So I had to return it untouched and got the pleasure to pay for it, anyway. Besides my order, the waiter messed up the order of my friend, who specifically asked for two side dishes, one of which was baked asparagus. She as a former chef, was not interested in an appetizer of asparagus with an over easy cooked egg on it. Unfortunately, she got it. When she complained about it, the waiter almost yelled at her and the magic word SORRY, seemed not to be a part of his vocabulary at all. Instead, he made her feel stupid, "Duh, if you ask for baked asparagus that's what everyone will bring you." On the other hand, the manager handled the situation professionally, she gave each of us a gift card for $10.00 off the next time we come. I had to still pay for my whole order. I don't think, I will ever go back. Besides, I am going to discourage all of my friends to ever put their foot in Gypsy Blue. As Ed Mitchell says, " If we don't care for our customers. Ate there last night at the bar. Came in a little after nine. No one at the bar. The bartender was awful. He seemed more concerned on stocking his bar then taking care of us. He just generally seemed annoyed and as though he didn't want to be there. Our food was average. I say that because the wings weren't good. They were breaded and no where did it say that on the menu. My wife and I along with my brother and his wife had the pleasure of dining out at the wonderful Gypsy Blu a week ago. I have eaten at the Four Seasons Hotel in Philly and at the Lacroix Restaurant in The Rittenhouse Hotel and I will put up Gypsy Blu with both of them. The building is beautiful and nicely decorated and has an awesome feature that leads you upstairs to the balcony for additional seating. Bob the owner has been in the business for quite a while and he is expertly backed up by Head Chef Jen Halin. The food is awesome and fresh and is served by a wait staff that makes you feel right at home. Run don't walk to Gypsy Blu, you won't be sorry. read more

I went to Gypsy Blu for dinner with a colleague and was utterly blown away by the experience we had there. You can go to a restaurant, have good food and good service, but there it was an experience. We met the new owner and his welcoming nature and hospitality showed with how he interacted with not only his guests but his staff. The food was incredible, in both taste and presentation. Their new Chef definitely put a lot of time into designing a tasty and comforting menu. All items we tried were very good. I would absolutely recommend checking it out. I am looking forward to seeing how they grow once indoor dining and bar restrictions are lifted. read more
