We were so excited to try Gwynne, but were a tad disappointed. Although we know it's new, so we have tried to give it the benefit of the doubt in giving it a rating of 4.
We walked in through the hotel, not knowing how to get in, however, even though there was a hostess who saw us, she never told us where to go. So we stood there a bit and finally asked where we're supposed to check in and they told us where to go.
They sat us at a table close to the bar area, which we typically like. However, they had a group of people walk in, and they were so loud and all just congregated at the corner of our table. So that was not very nice. And I wanna mention here it was not even 6 o'clock.
We had a great waiter, Stone. He was definitely the highlight. He paid attention to what we did and didn't like, and there were no mistakes.
It looked like there were so many managers, and employees.
Although so many of the different wait staff did stop by to clear or bring items, a manager never came at all. I guess one did stop by just to grab our check, but he didn't even ask how everything was.
I will say, though every employee that we had contact with, aside from the hostess and manager, they were all really great.
We tried many appetizers and they were all just good.
We tried the fried green tomatoes, they were good, but not very tasty. We tried the pommes, they were really gooey and not very flavorful. We might've liked them better if they were cooked more or something.
We tried the mussels and they were also just good. Again, not a lot of flavor.
The best part of the mussels was the toasted baguette, by far.
And we tried the lobster agnolotti, which was better than the other 3, but again, just good.
For a main we ordered the prime rib though, and that was great! Tender, delicious, cooked perfectly and flavorful.
I'd really rate this at 3-3.5, but decided to give it a 4, since they're new. read more
