Whatever you're doing, set it aside and head on over to Guytanno's. What a wonderful casual dining experience awaits you. We were seated without delay when we arrived for dinner. Nicole was our waitress but there were other wait staff and runners who all worked together as a team. The service we received could not have been better. Everyone was very courteous and seemed to know their jobs quite well. The food we enjoyed was also impeccable. We had a Caesar salad and a garden salad that were excellent. Very fresh ingredients and flavorful dressings. Add to that a linguine with clams dish that was a large portion size and loaded with clams, both chopped and whole. The 2nd dish was a delicious portion of salmon with buttery mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. We ended by sharing a slice of carrot cake that was very moist and flavorful and had a perfect cream cheese frosting. We will definitely be adding Guytanno's to our list of favorites. read more

I am so disheartened by the way the owner treated people in his restaurant. I understand that the restaurant business can be stressful, and that tensions can rise. What I can not tolerate is watching an owner berate their staff in front of the customers. I, myself asked the waitress to add a note for the chef regarding my order. The waitress did as I asked. The owner proceeded to berate and belittle the waitress for adding the note for the chef. It was not her fault. I had asked her to do it. Why yell and make someone feel horrible for such an insignificant thing. And! This was done in the restaurant in front of the customers. How incredibly unprofessional. I will never support a place where the owner believes he has the right to treat people this way, and I sincerely hope you read this review and find somewhere else to spend your money as well. I've heard great things from this place but when I got there it was a surprise to me. We were greeted in a rude manor and they sat my group of 5 at a very small table making it almost awkward while eating. The food I received was cold and although I hate sending food back and making it more complicated, I was paying good money for the food and didn't want it to be cold so I sent it back. When it arrived to me they gave it back in a very rude way and it seemed as if they had taken a large amount of that food away. I didn't want to say anything again so I ate and left. Let me start off my saying I have LOVED this place in the past. Today, not so much. Our appetizer was wonderful. As my husband and I waited for our drinks, we noticed the bartender showing pictures on her phone to the waitresses. It's a Sunday and it is not too busy. A few minutes later, I noticed three waitresses were also on their phone. I wondered what owner would allow that during business hours. My meal was drenched in olive oil. My husband's meal was covered in deep fried oil when the menu stated his brussel sprouts were pan fried. We couldn't understand it. Our waitress, Sam was fantastic. She was personable and on point and NOT on her phone. We aren't sure if we will be back anytime soon. We live locally. read more

Guytannos Cafe is located at the end of a strip mall across from the old Westerly DMV and can be easy to miss. Nothing on the outside really stands out about it, however what it lacks on the outside, is more than made up for on the inside. Everything about this place is superb! They offer a fantastic menu selection, everything from iron steak with Korean barbeque sauce, seafood stuffed mushrooms/shrimp (sometimes baked stuffed lobster too although its seasonal) and exotic pastas! They do a great job offering an international menu selection but at the same time, they still offer local favorites this area is traditionally known for. We started off with the clam chowder, the caprese salad and the calamari. The clam chowder was especially creamy and had tons of huge clams in it. I hate going to restaurants and ordering clam chowder that has little to no clam in it! Not so here! The caprese salad was also fantastic. The tomatoes were perfectly ripe , and the balsamic vinegar was thick without being overbearing. The basil was also fresh. Too many places Ive been around here serve unripe tomatoes with cheap balsamic vinegar and dry basil (ick)! Not so here! For my main, I ordered the baked stuffed lobster. Let me just say, I've been around the world and back and have yet to find a place that does baked stuffed lobster, or anything baked stuffed for that matter, better than this. The chef uses a ritz cracker based, seafood (minced scallops and shrimp) stuffing which is super rich and delicious. It was also cooked to perfection. Baked stuffed lobster can be very tricky. It can end up dry and crunchy (not good in the lobster world), but Guytannoes make it to perfectly! The lobster below the stuffing was not dry at all and meshed perfectly with the stuffing! My mother ordered the Bomster scallops, which are served in butter, breadcrumbs, cheese and garlic and are a local favorite. This plate was also delicious! My husband ordered the Cavetelli pasta with sausage. The portion was huge, and the plate has a little bit of a kick to it, so keep that in mind if your order it. It was also very good! The service was impeccable. Our servers were very attentive and I loved the fact that you can see the kitchen from just about any table at the restaurant! It is clear Guytanno's takes pride in there establishment, and it definitely shows in the quality. The prices are reasonable and I personally think a great value for the quality and portions offered. I cannot say enough good things about this place and plan on coming back every chance I get! read more

My wife and I where looking for a new place to eat. We found this place online so we made the 40min drive to check it out. WOW, glad we made the ride , the food was incredible. We sat at the bar and the luxury about sitting at the bar was you can actually see the whole kitchen and the guys cooking. I had the "Gorgonzola New York" which was an amazing steak dinner and my wife had the Filet Mignon which was topped with fresh crab meat. The Filet was so tender you cut cut it with a fork. And the side dish of pasta alio and mash potatoes where also incredible. Prices are reasonable, the filet and crab was $25 and my dish was $19. Can't wait to go back read more

My husband and I went for an early dinner after shopping all day at Home Depot. The place was nearly empty when we went in and the line was out the door when we left. Those poor people! We have a deal to always try the calamari once at a restaurant. It was cooked correctly but as blah as eating a bowl of dry cornflakes. No garlic, no butter just oil and a few pepper rings. Sauce was served on the side - heavy oregano - think sauce from a jar at the supermarket. Prego, maybe?. I ordered the open steak sandwich medium rare with the 'Guytanno steak sauce" and it was cooked medium. Again, no flavor - not in the steak, not in the fries, not in the watered down mushroom demi glace and certainly not in the what-must-have-been-just defrosted roll. Because my husband is on Atkins, I didn't offer any of the fries to him. Looks can be deceiving and the fries look delicious so he couldn't resist and was mighty disappointed. I don't know how a hand cut fry could be this bland. His burger was still pink despite ordering it extra well done. He said the Guytanno salad was very flavorful but the burger was just tasteless, nothing, blah. Maybe they need to be introduced to fresh ingredients and salt? Update: tried again tonight - - has to be worst "Italian" restaurant. Orders were incorrect - I was served the wrong dish entirely; My husband's "well- done, burned" burger was still pink. Could barely choke down my sausage cavatappi. Brown sauce - ewwwww. All around bad. read more

Very impressed with our dinner for 4 last night. Greeted by a sweet hostess named Sarah and had a very pleasant waitress. I enjoyed probably the best dinner I've had in a long time. I ordered the fried seafood platter. I was skeptical as some fried seafood is heavy and greasy - not this time. It was a very light batter with huge flavor and an aioli sauce drizzle. It came with delicious fries and a wonderful house made coleslaw. Disappointed that this was only a special - would love to see it on the regular menu. We got the prosciutto for an appetizer, seared duck and the Caribbean chicken for our main dish. They both tasted amazing. Their service is really great. I actually forgot my cell phone at the restaurant. I had to drive over an hour back the next day to get it, and they kept it safe for me in the back room. I will indeed come back again. If you love restaurants this place is very entertaining. The chefs are dialed in like a well oiled machine. Starter salad with tasted pistachios was great. Pasta entrees were also very good. You may want to pass on desert as ours was mediocre prefab sysco. Overall very impressive. read more

Dined here on 8/10/2014 later than usual around 8:30p. The place was bustling, but all the staff was friendly and attentive. Food portions were gargantuan and excellent! Shrimp cocktail (huge prawns) very fresh and tasty. Panko chicken, chicken alfredo, Half Guy Salad were all really good and fresh. Topped it off with Salted Caramel Gelato (heavenly) and Milk Chocolate Brownie. This is a local restaurant for local folks, unpretentious noisy atmosphere and excellent food! Four of us were there yesterday to celebrate a birthday. My burger was delicious. However, the reuben, fries and nachos were all burned. The soup wasn't very hot. The chef looked at it and said it wasn't burnt. YES , it was! He should have said, sorry your expectations weren't met and taken both items off the check. They did remove the nachos. We've eaten there several times and had always enjoyed the meals. We won't be going back. Too bad! My mom and aunt left hungry. read more

Stopped for lunch today and it was fabulous. We started with the mussel appetizer and even a half portion shared, gave about 6 each and they were great. Topped with Panko, olive oil, garlic and parsley. They are the best we have found of late and are close to what were the best at the former One South in Stonington, CT. Then came the lobster wrap for my husband with a Guytano salad side and I had the Guytano Salad. Excellent flavors and huge potions. We had this salad in the past and it is still on of the best. Lobster wrap had the freshest taste and was so big we brought half home. We will be coming back again soon. read more

Went here last night for my husbands 50th birthday with friends. Service was adaquit. Drinks were topped off regularly, Noise was insanely loud, couldn't hear myself think. The lobster portabella came drenched in a vinagret sauce, that i hadn't seen in the description so they remade it for me. That was nice, but the mushroom was still burnt and I could not taste the lobster at all. then had the french onion soup. That was a good size crock and a lot of cheese, but broth was a bit sweet. Otherwise was good, just fighting the cheese got old till it slapped me on the forhead, good times. Lol had the stuffed scallops for dinner. Came with cooked but cold veggies with a spice i didn't recognize and i got the mashed potatoes, they were creamy enough, but found them to be a bit bland. The scallops were moist and buttery and the stuffing was very good. It was more stuffing surrounded with big buttery sea scallops. But still they were very good. I will go back. but maybe when it's not so busy. Their avg plate is about $20. This is not a cheap meal. But when put when with friends and celebrating, the food is just a side. Guytannos graciously took in our starving party of 10 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. We had a Moms day and we stopped to watch the sunset so it was late.
