This was my family's first visit to Bird in Hand, we sat outside on the patio so I am not sure how the interior of the restaurant looked however the hostess stand and bar area looked nice and inviting. We were seated and it took a bit too long for our waiter to come and unfortunately his personal skills were a little lackluster.... I am not sure if he had multiple tables in the main restaurant and then was also given a patio table, that he seemed to keep forgetting about, we ended up asking for a decanter of water for the table that way we didn't have to keep waiting. For appetizers we ordered the Mussels and the Tuna Tartare, both had good flavor. When we finally put our main dish in to order my husband ordered the Gumbo, my son he Linguine and Clams, myself the Shrimp Po' Boy. The Gumbo looked good, I thought it would have more of a spicy to it, and a little bit more broth with the dish. The Linguine my son said was good the sauce was spicy but not overly so. My Po' Boy was good the shrimp were big! The tomatoes were really nice, it did seem like there was "too much" bread, I also could have used just a little bit more of the sauce on the sandwich. In all we may go back but probably in a bit Bird in Hand seems like it needs a little bit of growing pains to go through first as a new restaurant, the potential is there for a great place to get a great meal!

As we entered and did not have a reservation, we were seated at the bar. I can share- they did not fill up! We could easily been seated at a table but the bar was not an issue. Nice guys working the bar. We went very simple: tomato soup that comes with focaccia grilled cheese. The tomato soup was delivered with balsamic drizzle and anice grilled cheese stick. It was a great meal for a rainy day. It was good. We opted to share a dessert: sticky toffee pudding. It was soft and the caramel was sweet and smooth. DELICIOUS! Overall great experience. I would definitely return to The Cafe if in teh area again.

Took a while to arrive. The pork belly was exquisitely rendered with beautifully charred skin and tender meat. Lobster roll served warm was very good, the lobster was a little overcooked but still a highlight. Buttermilk Fried Chicken had super crisp skin and was executed and presented perfectly, great tasting together with the accompanied pickled vegetables and hot-honey butter. The best dish of the night. Sticky toffee pudding was as good as advertised: sticky, textured, with interesting mouthfeel offset by lightly whipped cream. Tequila based El Mariachi was tasty and balanced but not memorable.
