Cool Spot - Great Food As a so called dive bar we stopped in here for great pizza and soup as well. I am a soup lover and they do it very well. a nice lobster roll for the wife and a small pizza for me with soup. I rarely drink beer but I made an exception here and it was good and cold from the tap. This is one of those hidden gem types that has seating with service and it is clean.Some days it is hard to find a close place to park on the street but on a nice day or night it is no big deal. It is a small town. There is a large lot across the street. I like the way the pizza crust is crunchy and they do not skimp on the toppings. A real nice place to stop and it is worth a trip, clean with good service. Tip: They always have great list of menu meal specials, but their Bahhhh pizza is very good. We needed to find a venue for a funeral reception which means we had no idea how many people might be coming and very little time to prepare. From our first contact with Dave, we were impressed by Hilltop and what they offered for an event like this. They have a separate room for events and setup a buffet which was convenient. Because it was on a week day, they allowed overflow to sit in the main restaurant area which was a relief to us when you don't know the size of the crowd. Dave and his staff were extremely friendly and helpful making it very easy on us. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Our crowd raved about the food, buffet selection and the service. And parking in the big (free) parking lot across the street. I would definitely recommend Hilltop Cafe for other events. read more

I am newer to the area. I was told that the Hilltop was a goto place for pizza. I tried it twice. The first time was ok. Thick crust, not my preference. Generous portion of toppings. Nothing to rave about but I thought that I would try it again. The second time was not very good at all. Too much on the toppings. Pizza was supposed to be three toppings each half. Very doughy and greasy. An obscene amount of grease. Sauce? I saw something red but didn't taste any. I will keep looking.... read more

If you remember and loved Roxy's, Hilltop is for you...order the pizza crispy though to get that little bit of burned edges; otherwise, it's sometimes too cheesy (like that's a bad thing?) resulting in a bit droopy pizza. Tried coming in today a Sunday at 1pm and the hours online say they're open 12-3 but the doors were locked. The Hilltop is your basic blue collar neighborhood watering hole that serves good food. Nothing fancy. Stopped in for a quick bite with the wife. Started with a plate of wings. We split the sauces and had both the gin and classic buffalo. Both were spicy and hit the spot. Two thumbs up. For an entree, I had the whole belly clams from the specials board. They were cooked to perfection. For $18.95 they gave me a plate full that I could barely finish. My wife had the baked scallop casserole dish that was loaded with local sea scallops. The were also baked just right and not over done. The Hilltop is a great place for a no frills but great food meal. We will be back. This is one of Westerly's hidden gems that have yet to be raided by tourists. read more

My wife and I ordered at the bar. We do visit every couple of months and do takeout. Tonight, we waited for close to an hour for a small pizza and a salad. We still were not served. The bartender checked 3 times after 30 minutes not getting our food. You would think the kitchen would have prioritized our order. No. Multiple people after were served. It may be a while we consider going there. The issue was after the first time the bartender checked, there was no action to ensure we got our food. Recently had the pods gin wings, which were pretty good and a small soupy pizza, which didn't disappoint! They have started to get local beers and ciders on tap. Food is typically good at this restaurant. Last few times we went the portion sizes seemed pretty small and the last time I ordered a mixed drink it was $12. Charging venue prices at local bar. Pizza is on my top 10 list of foods I could never give up. If I had magic powers I would make it calorie free and gorge on it daily. That being said, I firmly believe there are two types of pizza. You have your healthy, brick oven, veggie filled gourmet pizza and then you have your greasy sloppy cholesterol raising pizza. Hilltop definitely falls into the latter category. I love it! It is so bad for you, but for the days when you just don't care it is pretty good pizza. My parents go there once a month or so for Fish-n-Chips and my father rates them highly. Normally I love this place. That's the only reason it's getting 3 stars. The last 2 times I came here the bartender was horrible. She was more interested in the tv and her cell phone than getting anyone drinks. Today the pizza (which I normally LOVE) came out burnt to a crisp. I couldn't even cut it with a knife. The bartender didn't even ask how it was. As a cook, how could you even send that out? As a bartender, how could you serve that to us? Lesson learned. I won't be back. read more

I typically enjoy ordering pizza from here when I'm in town and being from New York where there's a pizzeria on every corner, I enjoy eating this pizza. But the last couple of times I've been here we have ordered chicken on our pizzas and there has been little to no chicken every time. This isn't something I would typically be complaining about but if I'm spending $50 on two pizzas, I would like to enjoy chicken on it. I don't even spend that much on pizza in NY and it's supposedly more expensive over there than over here. Highly disappointed with these past orders. read more
