We were a group of 5 for dinner last night. We were seated immediately and the server brought waters and took our drink orders. The drinks came out quick and she took our order for appetizers. We ordered mozzarella sticks, aroncini, and nachos. The nachos could have fed a small army and they are delicious. I ate a good bit and the leftovers still stuffed a large to go container. I ordered a burger. It was cooked perfectly. Everyone said their entree was perfect. We are from out of state but will eat here every time we visit. read more

Great pub in downtown Westerly! There was a shift change when we just sat down so service was a bit cahotic to start but staff are definitely friendly. The fried pickles were delicious with two types of dipping sauce. I opted for the Chop Salad with the grilled chicken; it was a generous portion and the flavors were delicious. My spouse had a chicken salad wrap that he raved about and brought half home! Good vibes in the space, several sports on TV and great window seats for people watching. A couple of friends and I came here for a casual Wednesday night out. The drinks and food were good, however...the service was AWFUL. The waitress Roxy H treated us like absolute garbage. She ignored us when we attempted to get her attention, every time someone would order a drink she would walk away without asking for others needs, when it came to the tab she simply said it's on one bill no changes. Never checked in ahead of time when we clearly were separate parties. The final straw was when she gave us the check, she literally tossed it in the table as if we were peasants and beneath her. We've been here multiple times and have had great experiences but this particular waitress made us so uncomfortable and so unwelcomed that we're not sure if we'll be returning. read more

Never a fan of old fashions with cube ice. Pooch's takes cocktails to a new low by using crushed ice to shake them and then serve over. The old fashion was basically brown ice water. I highly recommend this place! My husband and I hosted our rehearsal dinner upstairs, and the entire staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I worked with the owner to plan the event, and she was such a sweetheart--so flexible with the menu and helped create an amazing spread of food. The charcuterie board was absolutely spectacular, and the food was presented beautifully and cooked to perfection. We had around 30-40 people, and everyone was seated comfortably and set the mood with the cozy fireplace background on the TVs. It was truly a perfect night. Thank you so much! read more

Ate lunch here today food was very good. We had appetizer of arancini which was delicious and the sauce under it was perfect. I had a chicken parm sandiwxh which was really good. My wife and daughter split a spicy chicken sandwich and really enjoyed it. Fries were hot and crispy. Had a spicy Bloody Mary and it was really good as well. Overall enjoyed our lunch. I stopped by this restaurant as part of the RI Food Fights Burger Blowout. It was a typical bar setting with plenty of space to sit. I sat at the bar and got the Pooch's Burger with a side of fries. The burger was pretty good. The bartender was friendly and attentive. I ended up getting their M&M ice cream sandwich and it was delicious, but too big for me to finish! I'm usually the guy that loves any bar and just likes being out and chilling. This bar had a cool vibe and ambiance. They definitely put some quality work into fixing it up and making it look modern but old fashioned at the same time. I ordered one beer and it might have been the first beer I've ever ordered and not liked. It was a weird beer and there were stuff in the bottom. It was 10 dollars for one beer and it wasn't even strong. The chicken sandwiches were approaching 20 dollars and weren't anything special or crazy big. So many negative things to say it's not worth all the typing. Wait time was unacceptable, food quality was very poor as was the quantity. A $14 cocktail was served in a rocks glass only 1/3 filled. Smoke from the smokers outside the door filled the restaurant so if you can't handle the smell of smoke don't go! Although the waitress was nice the gentleman I spoke to about the service had no customer service skills and argued with everything I said. He refused to take my sandwich off the bill after waiting 1 hour 20 minutes, then served a flatbread instead of a sandwich. Within five minutes I had the sandwich overcooked under a broiler. He told me everyone else waited an hour and a half as well. I was no different. He wished he could do something but he couldn't. (Wow!) i am a big supporter of local businesses and I eat out up to four times/week and this is only the second negative review I've ever made! Lots of other great restaurants in Westerly to go to. So, for full disclosure, we are Malted Barley aficionados. We finally decided to give Pooch's a try. Positives: nice additions to the dinning room. Lots of TV's to watch the games. Kept the tap system from Malted and have a great draft menu. Calamari was delicious. A little chewy; however great flavor, good marinara, tentacles that I love and delicious spicy peppers. Negative: took over 19 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge that we were even seated at the bar (and it was not busy), after our beers were empty and our appetizer taken away still no ask if we wanted to order a meal or another drink. Granted it was a shift change, however from someone who knows about the back of a bar, it is no excuse. Finally after almost 30 minutes waiting, we asked for the check from the new bartender. We left and drove a long way to our standby- The Mews in SK. They know how to tend to their customers. We are not giving up on Pooch's, we will be back and hopefully, the bartenders will be better at surveying the bar and knowing how to tend to EVERYONE. read more

I hosted my husband's 40th surprise birthday at Pooches last weekend and it went off without a hitch. The 3rd floor is the perfect space for a private event; a private bar and restrooms included.
