I'm getting misty eyed thinking about this pizza. We were hanging out in CT and the Pizza Lady was only one of two places that delivered to the hotel we were staying at. So of course I look on yelp and I see all these reviews for the soupy pizza. So we order a sheet of half soupy half plain. The delivery arrived in an hour or less, so no issues there. I go to taste a slice of the soupy side... So once I returned from heaven, I checked out the plain slice and was honestly mad that we didn't get the whole thing soupy. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the plain was good but next to the soupy it couldn't compare!! I'm in love with soupy pizza and I don't think my visits to CT will ever be the same. Service was good, everyone was very nice. I walked to pick-up with my kids in a stroller, and was disappointed to see that The Pizza Lady is not accessible. There is a ramp, but there are still two large steps at the top and this was nearly impossible for me to navigate with a stroller, heavy door, and a pizza. It was my choice to bring a stroller, but not everyone has the choice to leave behind their wheelchair, and I hope the Pizza Lady will take steps to make their pizza available to all. Christmas Eve of 2023. My wife and I we're picking up an order we placed well in advance because of the holiday season we knew it would be busy. With no available parking I pulled by the driveway and told my wife I'll run in and get the order, if someone comes out then just move the car. I went in and it was total chaos! No lines were formed it was a free for all! I asked people who was next and where's the line? They had no idea. A lady preordered her food the day before and it wasn't done! There were a lot of employees behind the counter but half of them had major attitudes and wanted to go home for the holiday. Whatever, it's understandable, The Pizza Lady is under new ownership and they haven't tweaked out the busy season. I get it! But....when I walked out with my order I noticed my wife had moved the car and double parked on street. I get inside the car and she's furious! Remember before, we were parked in front of the driveway where the delivery car was. The delivery woman was putting an order in her car and said a few things to my wife with anger, well the window was closed. My wife rolled her window down and told the woman "no need to be hostile I will move the car now!" The delivery woman's reply was "Fuck you!" My wife wouldn't dare to stoop to her level and just moved the car. I told my wife to forget it ever happened! We said nothing to management because of the timing and whatnot. They will learn the hard way. They have no respect for ANYONE! The pizza lady has a great name with great people for years prior to the new owner. The new owners can suck it, a lot of people have been complaining about the service with them. The food was ok as far as that, but everything else is not worth getting treated so badly! I think I found my new go to spot on the way to/from Foxwoods. Cheap prices, high quality food, and friendly people. Only drawbacks are that its takeout/delivery only, no dine in, and you can only park on a residential side street next to the business. It's good for what it is. This isn't my favorite style of pizza (I'm a die hard New Haven apizza kinda girl) and yet I liked it. This style of pizza is common in these parts i.e. the CT/RI state line. Greek-ish style, more body to it like pan pizza but not Sicilian or Chicago style. The sauce tends to be sweeter than tangy. A serious crunch to the crust. Not greasy. Light on the sauce which makes it slightly dry. The soupy (cured hard sporesatta) pizza is a favorite. The plain was satisfying. I then asked if I could place an order she said no because they close at nine I guess an hour is not enough time to cook the meals. Mediocre Crust. The crust is type of crust that you find in a fast food pizza chain like a Pizza Hut and not a family owned pizza place. The cheese was fine and the tomato sauce was sweeter than your usual Pizza place. Westerly and Pacawtuck have many Pizza places to choose from. I can appreciate a badass. I'm one myself. But I don't understand why, in a restaurant, a badass would be sitting on a counter. This was one of the first things I noticed when I entered The Pizza Lady a couple of weeks ago: a badass sitting on one of the food prep counters. The lady who helped me was clearly in a rush, hardly looking at me, but she was courteous enough. Everyone else (including the badass on the counter) seemed like they had seen better days. Needless to say, I was a little put off by this. Since joining the area a few years ago, I've heard many a person rave about soupy. "You must try some Rhode Island soupy," they all say. What's a soupy? Some kind of sausage from Rhode Island. Honestly, I tried a bit a year or so ago (in Seattle of all places--a guy went home to Rhode Island and brought some back out west with him) and didn't see what all the fuss was about. Things changed when I tried The Pizza Lady's soupy pizza. I don't know how else to say it, but it's like soupy was invented for this pizza. First of all, the pizza *looks* pretty standard. It's not the burnt style, it's not the square-slice style; it's just regular pizza. The cheese, however, is unlike anything I've had before: It doesn't stretch, it sort of just rips apart when you bite it. I promise you, it's a pleasant surprise. Anyway, back to the soupy. On pizza, it's like the distinguished cousin of pepperoni. Everyone likes pepperoni and is used to him, but then soupy shows up and demonstrates what pepperoni could be if he only applied himself. In short, this is good, unique pizza. Note that the place is take out (and maybe delivery?) only; there's no dining room. So on the account of a co-worker of mine who lives in the Westerly area, I took a ride to find the Pizza Lady. It was a small place that does not seat patrons to dine in. this is a to-go / take out joint. But the food here was terrific. I had a calzone with Soupy sausage and mushrooms. Was great. What they are know for is their party pizza or what they call sweet pizza. It was very good. The staff was friendly also. I could tell it was a local favorite as people who walked in knew the staff by first name. I'll certainly be back next time in Westerly. read more

Pros: These guys have the best soupy pizza! Grinders are good, pizzas are good, sweet pizza is addicting. The wraps can be hit or miss, but are still pretty decent. Buffalo tenders are middle-of-the-road and strangely, have minced garlic - which doesn't bother me, but is different. Overall, there is nothing really bad here. They are good enough that we order almost weekly from them. Cons: Delivery takes an hour...at least. The order is not always right when you get it. They have gotten better about this and will fix anything if you call, but can still be annoying after waiting so long for delivery and finding out something is wrong or missing. Staff was friendly and welcoming to a first timer. Pizza was right amount of crisp, not a smidgen of grease in or out of the box. Ricotta was fresh and the pizza was flavorfully seasoned.
