My experience at Guitar Center Dallas was nothing short of exceptional. Walking in, I was greeted by a bustling atmosphere, with the Guitar Center guru Nathan deeply engrossed in fixing a guitar. Despite interrupting him, expecting to be redirected, he attentively listened as I explained my skill level and preferences. Instead of pushing a sale, he presented me with several options, explaining the nuances of each instrument, spending no less than 30 min on the ins and outs and helping describe what I was going for. He could have easily pushed a 3k guitar on me and told me this will have me playing like Stevie Ray Vaughan in days. Instead he was patient and and showed me what I was looking for, I asked him to pretend he was buying for his brother "the one he likes" and show me the way. I ended up with a beautiful guitar and an amp that will grow with me, all thanks to his guidance. It was evident that he genuinely cared about ensuring I left with exactly what I wanted. Before checking out, the manager and other salespeople also made sure I had everything I needed, further enhancing my experience. What stood out most was the lack of pressure to buy. It was refreshing to be treated with such care and respect, especially in a retail environment. This is a great guitar center location! I was able to buy two awesome guitars here, and both were discounted at the time. In one instance I went in to get a specific guitar I had confirmed over the phone they had in stock. Upon arrival it was difficult to locate because the guitar was mislabeled, but the staff was diligent in helping me and we ultimately located it. It also took them a long time to find the hard case to went with my Taylor in the back, but they did. The location is well maintained and the staff are friendly. Every person here has been the most amazing guide in my musical journey. Their incredible patience with my upgrading guitars until I learned my personal playing style and environment is in unmatched anywhere else. (err.. I still have no talent but I am always eager to practice and learn) Larry, Zack, Nathan and the others whose names I apologize for not recalling at the moment - they aren't just selling or pushing instruments. If you want low end, they don't treat you any differently than if you buy high-end. They respect and encourage you. The return and upgrade policy is amazing too. We headed to the main counter where there was an associate, who saw us coming and promptly went to the wall, grabbed a guitar and sat down to play it for the remainder of our time there, with his back to us. We noticed a repairs counter so we moved over there and waited for help for 10 minutes. No one ever came! There was a guy at the Rental counter not far away, who was just standing there. After my husband started googling the problems and finding the parts on Amazon, he decided to just take a stab at working on the guitar himself, so we left. On the way out the door, the guy at the rental counter desk asked if we found what we needed! I said no (at that point was too frustrated to get into it with him). Maybe they weren't interested in helping because we already had a guitar and they weren't going to make a sale? Won't go back, and will relay bad experience to daughter's guitar teacher who recommended we take it there, so that he doesn't send other students there. It's a shame to see once flourishing businesses decay. GC is now way overpriced, employees lacking in department expertise with cocky know-it-all attitudes that only suggest based upon personal taste or personal opinion rather than try to fit the need of the customer. Gotta love Guitar Center... where else can you find rows upon rows of guitars, basses, drums, amps, and other musical equipment under one roof? Even if you're buying something simple, an instrument cable in my case, you can't help but pull down a guitar or bass for a test drive. Nobody is going to hassle you, but they are more than ready to help if you have questions. Not a full on 5 star review, because they don't have a big selection of bass picks or bass strings in-store, so I always need to go online to get what I want. read more

Bar none the worst attempted instrument purchasing experience I have ever had. Their website reported the guitar and case I wanted were both in-stock... great.. I ordered online and was immediately charged for both. Got an immediate response that the case was shipped and then days later got a notice that the guitar was out of stock and was being credited, BUT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE REFUSED TO ISSUE A REFUND FOR THE CASE I DON'T NEED OR WANT. Shout out to the sales team here! I was demoing a $1200 brand new 35-watt Fender '68 Custom Vibrolux with a beautiful $800 baby blue Mexican Strat off the wall. When the sales associate 6 feet away at the cashier desk heard my tasteful cleans at volume 3, he offered to let me take the amp to a private room where I could really let the amp rip. Rock n roll! Just kidding...the jerk told me to turn down (from 3) because he was having to shout for his customers. Here's a suggestion - maybe stacking your amps 6 feet away from the cashier was a dumb decision! I guess they'd rather sell picks and capos than amps and guitars. Found a used left handed Fender Strat on guitarcenter.com in mid-May of this year (2020) for $374.99. The instrument was located at this store. I don't normally purchase instruments online, but there wasn't much of a choice because my southpaw boyfriend decided he wanted to learn in the midst of a pandemic and my righty models all felt "wrong" to him. This guitar appeared to be ideal for him and the price seemed more than fair, especially considering left handed guitars always cost more. I couldn't clearly make out the writing on the headstock, so I called the store to verify that it was an actual Fender and not a Squier. I asked them to read everything on the headstock to me and they did, assuring me they were giving all accurate information. So that turned out to be a flat out lie. The guitar finally showed up about a week later and I immediately noticed some very pertinent information from the headstock had been left out during the phone call. The information showing the guitar was made in Mexico; not America, as the listing led potential buyers to believe. No mention of Mexico whatsoever was posted on the listing and no mention verbally. I emailed Guitar Center and no craps about their misleading listing were given from their end. I got a "screw you, send it back if you don't like it!" type of response. No apologies for the misleading advertisement; no ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of the misleading advertisement, for that matter. A decent company would not only have apologized for misleading customers, they would've offered a partial refund, a free gift, or SOMETHING. Not Guitar Center, of course. No wonder they have such a horrible reputation amongst musicians. The price was still better than reasonable for the guitar and my boyfriend was/is happy with it, so we kept it. I wouldn't have accepted a partial refund, free gift, etc if GC had offered but doing so would've certainly looked good on their end. Providing me with excellent customer service is the #1 way a company can entice me to become a regular and loyal customer. Instead, they decided to be arseholes and I'll never buy from them again. I buy a fair amount of guitar related gear and accessories, so their response cost them in the neighborhood of thousands of dollars per year in sales. That's barely a drop in the bucket in normal times, but these aren't normal times. Businesses across the company are struggling and only the stupid and/or arrogant ones would push away a customer like that during the pandemic when times are tough and money is tight all over. GC: I'm sure AMS, Musicians Friend, and Sweetwater would all love to thank you for sending me their way. The gentleman was extremely knowledgeable honest and understanding. Took great care of me all while training an employee, which I might add was doing an impeccable job with her. I wish I had less stars to give. I went into this souless box store that sells extremely common items at exorbitant prices to customers that have to endure their clueless "sales people". Today I went to Guitar Center to buy a guitar pedal and received the worse "customer service" I've ever had in my life. A customer shouldn't have to ask repeatedly for the same item. A customer shouldn't have to wait for longer than 15 mins to get the only thing they came in for after asking the same person multiple times for said item when approximately 5 "sales associates" are standing around in a daze and twiddling their thumbs. A customer shouldn't be treated as if they are inconveniencing the "sales person" by trying to buy a guitar pedal. It took two "sales professionals" to find the item I was looking for, when he found it he glared at me and growled,"buying or just trying it out." I got news for you pal, you ain't that cool. Alice in Chains (sales perons) hands the pedal to Captain Awkward and I then proceed to finally check out. In defense of the super awkward guy who rang me up he seemed to be the only one working. Give that guy a raise! If you like getting attitude from scrub-ass "sales people" who are selling generic merchandise, come on in and try to spend your hard earned money. The ONLY reason I went there is because I called in advance and made sure they had the pedal I was looking for. This will be the last time I ever visit this ramshackle business. I sincerely hope they clean up their act for their own good. The good old days of this place being the only game in town are over. I strongly encourage you to shop elsewhere. read more

WOW! where do I start. First of all their customer service is the pits. I dont know how a company manages to stay in business with their trashy attitudes. I have spent many thousands of dollars at these stores. That stops today. I wanted to return an item. MGR states no problem. I take it in and they say oops only 14 days return after MGR confirms 45 days. Then they try and purchase from me for less than 50% of what i paid last month. I really had an amazing experience at Guitar Center recently!! I think the last time I shopped at guitar center was in 2015 when I bought some KRK 5's. A guy there gave me a good deal on the second one. Well, I am pretty sure it was the same guy who I worked with this time, ANDY! So I had some Technics 1210s, a Traktor Audio 10 box, and a Rane mixer. I wanted to get rid of all of that an get some XDJ 700s. I called GC to see what I could get from them. I got andy. I noticed he really seemed to hustle to get me the best deal. He gave me his name specifically and asked that I call back when I am ready to do the deal. Well I ended up selling the decks locally for a better price but I came to GC during the 4th of july sale and saw andy there. Bad news, they didn't have the xdj700s until the 14th. I was devastated. Andy didn't seem to mind, he had a plan. He searched on his computer and said he could get me the demo models of a much superior unit for a very good price. He also was juggling about 5-10 different projects on the phone and in person. He flawlessly was able to get me the best deal and take care of the other massive amount of customers, and they appeared to be shorthanded, not to mention on a very outdated computer system. I ended up getting a much better setup than expected at an even cheaper price then expected, but it isnt over yet. I decided I wanted a mixer too since I had some money leftover. Andy still bent over backwards to get me the best deal possible on the mixer as well. I now have a BADASS DJ setup and it is all thanks to Andy!! He really goes out of his way to hook people up, and he really hustles to get stuff done for other people in the process. Mad respect to this dude, and if you are ever at the Dallas Guitar Center on 75 near lovers lane, ask for ANDY!!!! PEACE!!! read more

My girlfriend has a 7 year old adopted sister who is just the sweetest little girl in the world. Tomorrow is her birthday so We had her stay with us for the weekend so her parents could give her a surprise party the next day. We took her to a museum and it bored her to tears, so we came home early. She saw my guitar (a martin I bought from guitar center) in the corner at home and Immediately wanted me to teach her how to play. How could I say no? It was her birthday after all. So I started off teaching her the basics, and to my surprise the kid was a natural, except my full size guitar was far to big for her. So I said "Katelyn lets go get you your own guitar." And we hopped in the car and headed to Guitar Center. We walked in the door and I could just see the look of aww in her eyes as she looked up at the rows of basses and guitars that lined the walls. She watched in amazement as some dude was shredding on an electric guitar. I wasn't really sure if they would have anything in her size, but when I got to the acoustic room in the back, it was clear that they actually had several options that would fit her. Chad was the sales associate in the acoustics area, and despite the fact that there were probably 15 people in the room, he immediately stopped and helped us. He explained several options to her, but one guitar really caught my attention. It was an off brand called a "Luna." It was cheap, but it was made of mohogany with a rosewood fretboard. Chad explained that of all the options, the Luna was the only one made of real wood. And I knew from studying guitars that my favorite guitar wood was mahogany. It felt solid, and had great sound. Chad helped her pick out a strap and picks. Despite all the commission money he could have made with all those other customers, he payed full attention to her. He could not have been better with her. She was smiling ear to ear. He said "It makes me happy to see someone so young be so passionate about guitars." Thats exactly how I felt. Thank you Chad for being an awesome dude. It's been 3 days and she hasn't put the guitar down since. I'd say thats a much more productive birthday present than another toy or a video game. read more

Customer Service always makes the difference. I just got back to the office from a trip to this North Dallas Guitar Center. I came in looking for some knowledge about sound mixers and active subwoofers. I recently bought a used setup from a friend and rolled the dice that I could get some help from the people at Guitar Center. They gave me a lot more than that. I made my way into this musical wonderland and eventually back to the pro audio section. I like this place, all kinds of different rooms and rooms within rooms. Its like a maze! Keeps things interesting for sure. In the pro audio section I was greeted warmly by Myles Parker. I know his first and last name because I insisted he write it down for me after he gave me the customer service I am about to share with you. Up front I let Myles know I was not here to buy, only to see how good of a deal I had gotten and to learn how to work the knobs. Myles went above and beyond to show me the answers to all of my questions, make recommendations, and show me things I might consider buying from Guitar Center down the road. I kept waiting for the pushy sales pitch but it never happened. I ended up leaving with a $10 audio cable to help connect my laptop or phone to my mixer, but with a ton of product knowledge as well. Today my experience was awesome because of an awesome employee like Myles. He deserves a business card, someone should make him one. Went in right as they opened to shop for a keyboard. Several employees, only a few customers. Was there for an hour without any greeting. When I reached out for service, was told only one guy could demo or answer questions. Of course, that guy would be the one with a long line. Why didn't other employees who weren't busy with customers come to his aid? They could have assisted with checkout processes etc. so this guy is free to demo and sell. Very good customer service! I was in and out of the store within 5 mins. I used to play piano for about 10 years before I went through a teenage rebelious stage and quit. I haven't played in over 8 years. Recently I decided to start playing again and need to buy a keyboard stand for my piano. I came in and the guy walked me through all the way. I walked out with the right stand and been so pleased with it. They have music classes and it's not bad at all. I might consider taking up on that offer if I can't remember how to play piano :D read more

I purchased a used Presonus audio interface from GC online which was shipped from this store. Whoever pulled it, grabbed the wrong polarity wallwart (power adapter) and the unit blew up the moment it was connected. Mistakes happen, it's how you deal with them, right? At the Hollywood (where i live) GC, you're going to get approached, pitched and not quite hustled but close by sales ppl continually while you're shopping. If something is wrong with what you did buy, the process of getting it care of doesn't work that way - commission sales have got these guys totally uninterested in dealing with returns and i once waited over a half an hour just to get a someone to spend a second with me after i said "I need to return this". This is the kind of treatment I was expecting at the Dallas store. Called, manager's in a meeting - oh no, it started already. In a half hour I did get a call and twelve minutes later he called back informing me he had found another identical unit, also used, from a GC in the east coast that was already being packed to ship to me. He was concentrating on the low sales of this interface ($200), he was thinking about how i must have felt having something i spent it on literally sparking when i applied power. This guy gets it. The two things that are going to keep ppl coming back: You're going to get more business in the long run if you take care of those you gave you a shot and his real boss isn't his regional manager - it's his customers and it's not about how much they buy, it's about their satisfaction level. read more

Guitar World exists in a weird time warp. 8 years after entering this chain for the first time- it still feels the same. In particular, the employees never change. They're still 98% guys, who call you "man" and "dude." And there's always a shitload of employees here- which can be convenient, and other times claustrophobic. (I think there were 6 guys behind the counter. Hope everyone is wearing deodorant!) But for the guitar lovers in your life, this is a one-stop place for many of their needs. read more

They went above and beyond to turn a right handed guitar into a left handed guitar for my daughter for Christmas. I know it just involves flipping the nut as the guitar had no pick guard to designate it right or left handed. Doesn't matter.. They took the time to make my daughters Christmas. The guys who work here are idiots. I was about to drop $600 on equipment. I asked for a slightly lower price and the salesman went and got his manager. Instead of talking to me, the manager walked right up to me and told me he would going me $10 off and then walked off. The joke is, I would have paid for price. I've got to say, this place keeps getting better every time I go in. They've got a huge selection.. and the sales guys and staff are always helpful. Have never made any major purchases there. But I know people who have, and the general consensus is satisfaction. My only recommendation for them is that they should up the presence of the on-site guitar tech.. as he's never been there any time I've needed some work done. An on-site tech with regular business hours would bring the GC experience to a whole new level. read more
