The staff at GS Marine was very nice but the owner was very rude and I had to go pick up my boat in worse condition than when I brought it in. The owner water tested the boat and came back with a giant black 3-4" wide by 10' long rubbery stripe down one side of the boat...obviously hit something like a dock bury etc. He said it was just exhaust marks...I've been around boating for 51 years and this was in no way an exhaust ring on one side. They had to use an industrial solvent to clean it off and ended up etching a one foot stripe on the hull of my boat...also a giant scratch, of course everything with this guy is debate. I had the boat completely cut/buff detailed just days prior with full set of pictures at every angle showing the gel coat and boat looking beat with no scratches or marks. I'll never go back to this place and hate writing this but the service and work done at GS Marine was terrible!!! Also, the boat was an absolute mess full of pine needles and covered in dirt. HORRIBLE customer service. The staff again however were very helpful and totally understanding to all the issues and very apologetic. If you all read this, please remember that most marine shops are scam artists. They know that your "average" mechanic is not versed in marine motors or workings. Sell you on services that you would never know are done, and from my own experiences, fluids don't get changed, plugs don't get changed, & bigger issues are not addressed. I see that Greg is rude here from a couple reviews here and there, he may be curt, but he is dead honest & a busy man because of this. I sold a boat, it had several issues that I was not aware of, it needed fiberglass repairs. The new owner was new to anything boats & on my recommendation, not request, took the boat to GS Marine. I can promise you that this shop was more than reasonable with the repairs, kept me abrupt of what was needed, even asked me to come down to verify the issues, sent me photos and his office staff was very communicative, especially since I was not the owner & just the guy paying the bill to make this sale right. It turned into a full gut & flip of the hull. it cost me money, but I feel better knowing that GS marine did this repair, and the new owners got a better boat than I had. The Keel looked better than what I ever had. This is not the first I had dealt with GS, I have had several friends who have used this shop & will recommend Greg to my mother if she had a boat. Since 2005 buying my boat new from the dealer I've done almost all maintenance myself. In the beginning while under warranty I encountered a vapor lock and the boat kept shutting down. Greg made the repairs to get ventilation to the tanks and since hadn't had any problems. In 2017 I encountered a new problem with my boat shutting down, so thought it was a carburetor or fuel pump issue. With multiple hobbies I worked on it off and on changing the carb, fuel pump and two years later still stallings. Nobody on them boat websites could help and with a big block Chevy 502 and being a jet boat most repair shops I talked to didn't want to work on it because they needed to have it in water. I found GS Marine new location and talked to Greg, he remembered working on it in 2005 and he said he has an idea what the problem was. One day after dropping it off I get a call to pick it up! Greg tested a fuel/oil pressure safety switch and it was defective. He corrected the problem and now back out on the water! I highly recommend GS Marine for boat service! read more

I found GS Marine on the internet while looking for a shop to get a service done on my boat. I found Greg's web site and it was local so I gave them a shot. He had a ad on his web page for a "shop special" for the month of April for $315.00 plus parts. When I dropped off my boat, I met Greg and he seemed like an ok guy so I felt good about my decision to try this shop. But when I picked up my boat the bill was $430.00 and it looks like all they did was an oil change. Needless to say I was shocked, and the bill did not itemize the work done or parts used. After talking with some other local boat owners who have also had work done at this shop, this sounds like the usual scam of give one price and collect a totally different amount. I will not be returning to this shop for my future boat service needs. read more

GS marine is the best! Greg and Scott always take time to explain the best ways to install replacement parts on my boat. Had some bad experience's with another shop so I was a bit hesitant with these guys at first. They came highly recommended from a friend and glad I listened. Took my boat into the shop for an issue with the prop and after they inspected it they found that that want the issue. Original estimate went down from what they originally quoted. I found Greg to be extremely rude! I came to GS Marine to have an engine swapped out of my boat. Greg stated he could not get to it until the first week in August, so I made an appointment. I had recently purchased the engine from a person in Arizona and had the engine and out drive on the back of my truck for over a week. I asked Greg if I could drop the engine off until he could begin installing it, and he graciously agreed. I believe he through he was not speaking to an African American because when I got to the shop and he saw who I was, his attitude drastically changed. He accused me of having a stolen engine and he told me he didn't want to do the install. I found GS Marine on the internet nice page, I thought let's see. Met Greg and will say he seems to be a good guy as is the members of the staff that I met. The problems began when the quote to do a floor went from "a couple thousand" to $4,000+, also had them do a tune and service ended up $5,000 plus!! I'm no newbie to the boat world but this one has me shaking my head. Talked to a few people that had a similar experience, so my bad for not checking first. All in all I give the job a low score seeing that they F'd up the wiring when they re-installed the interior, so when we plugged in the phone charger it shorted out and melted all the wires under the dash. Perfect way to start Memorial Day weekend! A very unfortunate experience to be sure, perhaps they will read these comments and maybe even learn something from them. read more

Greg really came through for us at the very last moment. We had our boat in for a summer tune up and during that time Greg pointed out that we have a water leak in both of the exhaust gaskets. We told him we could fix them ourselves. We tried, but only to break off three of the rusty bolt studs and then could not separate the exhaust manifold from the elbow riser. I called Greg and told him we were planning a trip to Lake Havasu In three days and we were in a panic. Greg told us he would try to fit us in his busy schedule if he could. They worked all the next day and into the night and again the next morning and the boat was ready to pick up. I could hardly believe the amount of work they had to do to make that happen .Greg has done our boat service for many years and we will never go any where else. Thank you Greg so much. A hard lesson learned: I had "work" done on my boat at GS Marine in Norco, and was very disappointed!! $925.00 later.....same issues, and Greg just argued with asking me "Do you want me to pull the whole motor out"?......my boat was overheating! I took it to a mechanic that I had been to before, and what I was thinking was true.....the guy is a rip off!!! Trailered my boat from the river to Greg's shop (250 miles) for a new steering cable and forward reverse cable (jet boat). Boat was done on time, however this is what I received: a new scratch in the gel coat, interior not screwed together properly, 180 degrees of play in the steering cable, forward and reverse not adjusted and boat sticks in reverse, at least half of the wiring pulled from my gauges. All of this added up to four hours of work that I had to put into my boat while on vacation. Not to mention, his silly sticker on my pump to remind me of the money and time lost to fix everything GS Marine touched. read more

Went here because I needed to get the hydrulic trim system bleed on my boat after replacing a hose on the outboard. I asked them to please check that and adjust the shifter. After 4 days I get a call and they say my boat is ready. So I ask how much is my bill and to my SHOCK. I get told $444.36. I just about crashed (as I was driving). This place is a rip off. We've had a jet boat for 15 years. We had to have our entire jet replaced. We highly recommend GS Marine. Greg is an expert in his field and does a fabulous job. Jeanette in the office is very efficient and a pleasure to work with. These days it's hard to get the best of both worlds. We used to get our annual oil changes and tune-ups on our boat in Needles or Havasu because we didn't want to deal with towing the boat back and forth....not worth it! I wish I could give minus stars for this place. I took my boat out at a local lake at the beginning of the season to make sure everything was running good prior to our first river trip. I noticed that my gas tank on one side was not pumping gas to the carburetor. Every time I switched back to the other tank the boat ran fine. (I did this three times during this trip.) I called Greg and he explained to me that 95% of the time it's the Anti- Siphon valve on the one tank that was not allowing fuel to flow out, and it was a simple fix. So I made an appointment with Greg three weeks from that time when his books were clear. I took my boat to him and got a call three days later when he stated" O.K come pick up your boat" When I get there he told me that there was a lot of water in the tank that I was having problems with, and I needed to drain that tank. I asked him why he didn't drain it since I have no where to put the contaminated gas. He said he cant do that because he has to pay an extra fee to dispose of it. He suggested that I " Kill some weeds around my house with the contaminated gas!" after I drain it. So I pay an auto repair shop to siphon the gas from the one tank. When I get my boat back home it wont start on either tank! I call Greg back and he said I had water in my carburetor so it needs to be cleaned out before the engine will run. I reminded him that it worked fine on one tank when I brought it to him. He said I would have to wait for him to call me when he has room to look at my boat again. The next day I brought my boat back unannounced, luckily Greg was not there and I was able to speak to his employee. He told me he told the guys that were working on my boat that they need to clean the carburetor before I pick the boat up. He said he would personally fix my boat. An hour later I get a call from Greg asking why I brought my boat back without him calling me. Again, I reminded him I made an appointment way in advance of my planed vacation to get my boat running on both tanks. He stated " I'm fu@%*^G pissed at you right now" and hung up on me! He calls two hours later and said there was a lot of water in the carb and it needed to be cleaned out before it would run I told him to bring my boat back to the condition it was in when I brought it in ( which was running on one tank) and I will take it else where. In his whiny voice he says they already took it apart and can make it run better then it was. So I paid this shabby place they call a business $250.00 for a carburetor cleaning, in addition to removing the anti- siphon valves, another $250.00, which now I have doubts that they did. I've had several jet boats however this is the first time taking a boat to Greg. Upon arrival I was greeted by Scott who helped me unhitch. Gave him a quick run down of what was going on and left. Got a call about a week later with diagnosis and estimate. Picked up the boat and paid exactly what they told me. All issue's were addressed and boat runs best it ever has. Good work is not cheap and cheap work is not good! If you are looking for a performance shop this is it. Going back this winter for some pump work. read more

I brought my boat here for an engine swap and water ready work (I paid separately and provided the engine and some parts) I was told it would take about 3-4 weeks because he had other projects ahead of mine, I said fine (it took him more than a year) I was charged nearly 4k for a shabby half-assed job. I was charged hundreds of dollars for a carb rebuild (come to find out later after picking my boat up and trying to start the engine, he eventually admitted that he never rebuilt the carb) He lied to me numerous times about what was done and what was not done on my boat and I have the emails to back all of this up. I was told the cost of labor was $90 per hour when I dropped my boat off (when I got my bill, I was charged $120 per hour, not the $90 I was told) nothing itemized in any kind of order, I was charged for things that were never done. He put parts on the new engine without using new gaskets (he re-used the old gaskets). He left my boat dirty, boat plug out, bilge pump plugged, engine compartment filthy, the interior disassembled, dirty with bird crap and leaves etc. doors off hinges etc..rusty parts left all over my boat staining the gel-coat and a nice gouge on the side of my boat (as if something were backed into it). I have no steering in my boat now, I'm having to take parts off and re-connect them using new gaskets and now have another mechanic fixing all the problems resulting from the hack-job that G.S. Marine did on my boat. He refused to warranty any work that he did, this is not surprising considering the "work" he did on it. I asked for a partial refund considering all the things that have to be fixed now and Greg refused even after providing him with proof of emails/invoice proving I was lied about work he supposedly did. I now have to file a small claims case. Update: I won my case against GS Marine in small claims court...don't be afraid to take this guy to court when he screws you over. read more
