Based on YELP reviews I made an appointment with Dave's Marine following an overheating problem that occurred on Fathers Day-June 15. The earliest appointment date was August 12, 2025. I brought the boat in on August 12, 2025 and Dave & I went over my concerns. An estimate was prepared around August 19, 2025 and I picked up the boat on August 29th. Dave took the time to really keep me updated with texts and photos throughout the repair process which was very helpful. I had additional work performed not related to the overheating issue(guages/gas tank access portal, and oil change and Dave did his general boat wellness check as well. Being retired I wanted to take the boat out that very weekend but since all my friends worked I was unable to do so. During that time I took the time to really clean up the boat and polish the gelcoat (Skwol Oxidation Polish & Wax) ) and refinish & clear coast the outdrive and really make the boat shine. I finally got to use the boat on Tuesday, September 9, 2025other retired riend was able to go with me. We went to Lake Perris and the boat performed perfectly. I can't even explain the happiness that I experienced knowing that everything worked. My friend and I spent probably 3+ hours on the lake which was close to being void of any boaters. I wanted to immediately write a review but I got lazy. Dave's Marine is now my go-to repair facility. They are completely competent and charged a reasonable amount for the work that was done. I'm glad I was patient enough to wait. There is a reason why there is a wait time as Dave proved that he was completely skilled enough to repair the boat the proper way keeping me informed all the way thru. Idk why people hate on Dave and his lady. They had plenty of opportunities to take my money but instead they offered advice to work on it myself. Dave is straight up and to the point and he will tell you how it is. Yall are soft if you getting hurt by Daves honesty. He worked on my boat and invoice came to lower than estimated and they did more than i asked. He is legit and knows what he talking about. No mechanic is a wizard they can only guess and Daves guesses are usually spot on. Especially with boats where some proper diagnostics can only be done in water. This shop is legit and when i get up on my feet and make good money i'll just save myself the trouble and pay Dave to get it done right. Im one of those people that dont trust mechanics AT ALL!! Ive been done wrong before and a lot of mechanics dont know what theyre talking about but act and charge like they do. But Dave and his lady changed my mind, they know their stuff and they charge fair prices. Im honestly surprised there is even 1 bad review let alone a handful of them. Took my Maxum in beginning of June appointment date. Work completed before 2 weeks as promised. Replaced carb, prop, couple few things he recommended. Boat ran Beautifully up at Shasta Lake. I've been going to Dave for over 10 years now and he has remained a solid source of knowledge and expertise for service and repairs. Though if I had to give one reason I return year after year I would have to say because he's honest and trustworthy. Boaters Beware!! This Man Dave is at his wits end and will blow up at you for no legitimate reason and then blames you for all the boats he hasn't finished. He did a fairly expensive $6000 fix but I thought good repair on engine. We soon after had damaged trailer tow company brought boat to him. He had for several weeks. Don't you dare rush him either. He calls and says boat has been wet for a week mind you. He never let us know are boat was in the rain and full or water till three weeks later until it was pretty much ruined. Then says he won't do the job and bills you and starts charging storage fees. He loves to yell and woman and is very desrespectful He said he didn't have time to call us we should know better!! read more

I went to see Dave about getting my stern drive serviced. The quality of the worked was great and Dave even took the time to repair the paint on the trim cylinders. Despite being busy, Dave also made time for some other work that I requested, including replacing a trailer buddy bearing. Additionally, Dave sent some photos of the work, in progress, which was more than I expected. The prices are fair and reasonable for the quality of work. My boat was down and wouldn't idle properly. I called several boat shops. Talked to Dave and Carrie, they took me in as a RUSH job for my trip. They couldn't guarantee completion due to parts that maybe needed. I got a call when I had left for my trip saying the boat was fixed and ready for release. They made arrangements to have my buddy pick it up and bring me the boat. I double checked their work and found that they did an outstanding job. They even replaced a missing washer on air filter. These guys are shop you want to bring your boat too. They do what they do best: they also refinished my carb with paint to make it match the rest of the motor. Bravo , outstanding job. I have been taking our boat, a 2007 Glastron GT-205, to Dave's Marine for a about the past 6 years. For this year's annual service Dave's service was as usual, outstanding. This year's service was the normal 20 hour service, fluids and filter change, along with changing the impeller and thermostat (first time I had this changed, but I wanted to change this). Per my request I asked to inspect the conditions of the bellows and they did find the drive bellow needed replacement. Dave completed this extra work on schedule and under budget. Bought a boat a few years ago and learning 1) there's always something to fix or repair. 2) it ain't cheap. I do most fixes myself along with tune ups etc since I'm handy. Needed a few parts and found Dave's shop. This place has just about everything hi needed. The longer a looked around the more items I needed. The owner and his wife run the shop and they are the coolest people. They even have a small super friendly dog to greet you upon entry. I enjoy good people running a shop like this. I paid for what was needed and headed out. Upon exit I saw a mechanic working in an inboard motor. I stopped and asked him a question and he was as cool as the owners. Took our Essex to Daves shop for the 100 hour service and man did he just blow me away. The attention to detail this shop has is phenomenal. You can tell he cares about quality. The invoice was super detailed. This guy is horrible, do not use him! Everything started great, told me he could repower my boat in six weeks for 20k. I dropped the boat off and gave him 9k. Then it all changed. Weeks later the engines weren't removed, but he wanted an extra 1k for bolts that were hard to remove. After finally getting engines out dave wanted to do a laundry list if additional work but would not quote it. Then the lies started, he kept saying the motors were almost done but nothing ever happened I couldn't come see them or get a picture or anything. When I pressed him he called me up and started cussing and yelling at me and threatening me with a lawsuit !!! Mind you he has 9k and has only pulled the motor. I spent the next three months trying to get at least some of my money back as dave said he couldnt do the work. Horrible experience read more

My husband bought an old 88 bayliner and the guy that we bought it from hadn't ran the boat for a few years.
