They were very thorough and presented an initial, detailed estimate on what the work would entail. Mike the owner was very knowledgeable and kept me updated on the repairs and cost issues which were always discussed to decide the best outcome for myself and my boat. Out of respect for Johnny (the scheduler) who is a stand up guy I'm being clear that this message is for the owner of Prime Marine and people who would consider this shop. I will never go back to prime marine. Johnny had actually requested I use prime marine and handed me his business cards in the church parking lot that we attend together. Johnny was a nice guy and I had recently bought a (new to me)27 hallett (from another church member). I originally had the hallett serviced in 2018 at Rodesway Boats in upland, CA and they were awesome!(Did I mention this is my family's 6th boat and parents 60th year going to the lake, my 35th) So back to the point I brought my boat to prime marine 2-7-19 long before river season starts as I enjoy planning and having my equipment ready for the upcoming season, I figured I'd give johnnys guy a chance over at prime marine. They suggested a full service since it was my first time there and they serviced the boat, I got the typical 3-4 phone calls in two days recommending up sales and delivering bad news until the total reached 1750 dollars "ouch" I happily paid and was glad to bring business to another church member. Please see all invoices below for actual repairs and charges from 2-7-19 and 6-11-19. One of the recommended repairs was a shifting cable assembly as I was told Mine was worn and sticky so I agreed it needed to be changed. I left for the river a few months later in April to take my kids for our first river trip over spring break (my trailer brakes were locking up and I had to remove two calipers on the 60fwy at night, thought you checked the axles and adjusted brakes?? Guess not) once we arrived at the lake I launched and put about one hour on the motor and drive and it seemed to be functional , however when I slowed to approach the marina it was stuck in forward gear. How could this be happening to us when I was so diligent about boat service. I called prime marine from the water (Johnny)and was told to bring the boat back for a look , I would normally leave it in AZ for the season and here I am towing home on a Monday in April with 2/4 trailer brakes functioning. After several phone calls about bringing the boat in and not really feeling like a priority I was able to have my father bring it in today nearly 2 months after the outdrive stuck in forward. I get a call from the owner 30 minutes after drop off at 9:00am stating my shift linkage was broken and the repairs would be nearly 600 dollars, wwwhhhaaattttt? So here's my beef , I have the money and the time and I took my boat to someone who seemed to be trustworthy, you clearly state on your receipts from 2-7-19 that you inspected all shifting mechanisms and repaired shifting cable assembly!!! Don't call me today and explain that the shift linkage isn't part of the shift assembly and you "the professional" didn't recommend changing this earlier in the season when the boat was at your shop and the outdrive was off. You even had the audacity to tell me that this part typically fails because the old version isn't as strong as the new version. This is no way to conduct business and the paperwork tells your story. (You take 0 responsibility for this situation and quite frankly you ripped me off) I'll gladly sacrifice the nearly 2400 dollars on a crap job to help someone else from having their trip cut short , time, and money wasted. From here on out my money is at Rodesway Boats or Concept Marine , thanks but no thanks Prime Marine for wasting my time and money. You know how to get ahold of me if you re-think the situation. I have had a really great experience with MIKE (owner) and the team at Prime Marine. my boat was 2 seasons past due for a full service. Mike was awesome at communicating. He kept me up to date on the process. His team found trim leaks and wanted my approval to add this repair. He invited me to come over to show me. At that point I asked him to quote a few other things.... He never once charged me for something that wasn't fully approved. I really feel he did a great job and did exactly what was agreed upon. He is not cheap.... But he shouldn't be. He has a shop and employees and tons of equipment... The shop is clean and all the times I was there I saw people working... Very pleased. read more

Worst news you could possibly get, engine is bad on what you thought was a good buy! Johnny was a great guy, spent 20 mins on the phone the first time I called and walked me through the scenarios, explained exactly what he needed time wise in order to make factual statements of what was wrong. Ultimately the engine was dead and it's a total loss. When I picked up the boat I could see he was as sad as I was and really didn't like the outcome. I brought my boat here to Prime Marine for what I was hoping to be a somewhat easy repair, Johnny did the repair (very quickly) but advised me there was other issues going on. (My boat has been sitting for the last 1-1/2 yrs) Johnny was always up front with prices, thoughts on what was going on, i never felt pressured to have the work done there. I felt very comfortable having them do the work. I was constantly being updated on the status of the repairs and cost.(just wish I would have found them sooner) Johnny runs a very honest shop, I will be a forever happy customer! Can't say enough positive things about this shop after recently using them for the first time. We had them help us with rigging a new Howard 26 Cat and they knocked it out of the park. They were very patient, answered all my questions and provided full transparency on what needed to be done and how much it would cost. Read my edit below! Awesome shop and really took care of my needs. Came here from all the positive reviews on Google. I'm restoring a boat that has been sitting for 9 years. Had the outdrive serviced by them and they did an incredible job! They were very upfront and honest. They were not trying to up sale anything to you. Very knowledgeable and experienced; took the time to explain all the questions I had; you're getting your money's worth and then some! Definitely coming back here again but for the full-service this time! EDIT: A month and a half later, I inspected the rubber bellow that's part of the outdrive service. Thank goodness! I now saw a couple of cracks develop in the rubber; I was relying on these guys to do some preventative maintenance. No fault of Prime Marine but it was just old rubber aging. Instead of giving them a 5 star, I'm giving them 1 star. I wish they had recommended that I replace the bellow from age at the time of the service, I would have gladly paid them extra to replace. Now I have to have the outdrive removed again just to replace this bellow which is going to cost me $$$! It was bad timing when this occurred as I used the boat for Christmas and wanted to use it for New Year's celebration but had to cancel. Could not contact Prime Marine as they were closed during the holidays. Although they did a great job of doing the work, not sure if I want to go back. I'm fairly new to boating and if I didn't inspect the bellows for tears or cracks, I can't imagine what kind of major problems I would have gotten. i.e rusted u-joints, gimbal bearings, etc. Inspected the gimbal bearing, it has rough spots and sounds bad! Now need to replace gimbal bearing because of the water intrusion! Now more money to spend! Not going back to Prime Marine! read more

This place is awesome! I have a Sanger and I needed a tune up. Usually when I take my boat to get serviced it's 1-2 weeks before it can get it there and 1-2 weeks to get the work done. Not the case here. We called for a appointment and got the boat in the next few days. We then wanted a tune up service and few extra things needed and they got it all done in a day! Impressive! I'm posting this review for my husband: Bought our third Eliminator and wanted a good, fair boat mechanic to take a look at it. I knew there was a problem with the carburetor because when I got on the throttle the motor would shut down until I backed off the gas. Based on all the 5-star reviews, I called Prime Marine. I told Johnny about the carburetor over the phone and asked if he could check it out for me. He said he could, but he was really busy and would call me when he thought he could do the work. It was a couple of weeks before he could take it. When I took the boat in, I asked him to give it an annual tune up and go through the boat since I don't know the history of the boat. I asked him to check the carburetor, and tell me if the boat needed anything before I took it out. I know he heard me, because he repeated everything I said. I ended up getting the trailer overhauled, and that was great. Fair price, good work. When I picked up the boat, Johnny gave me a receipt with a detailed list of things he did. He told me the carburetor was fine, he just needed to replace the distributor cap, plugs, wires filters and such. I decided to get the windshields replaced before going out to the lake, and he assured me that could be done by next Friday, the day before my lake trip. When the following Thursday came and I didn't hear back from him I called. He said he thought I meant the next week, and the windshields weren't ready yet. But he hurried the job and I picked up the windshields the next evening, just in time for my trip. This next part is why I'm giving Prime Marine 3 stars instead of 5: When I got to the lake and got the boat on the water, it wouldn't go over 40 mph. When I gave it gas at that speed, the engine acted like it shut down. It still had exactly the same problem it had before I took it in! I spent the whole weekend driving a gutless boat. When I got back, I called and told Johnny about this, and he said he didn't remember me telling him about that carburetor problem, and he was sorry. Bottom line: nice guy, clean shop, good work, poor memory. If you choose Prime Marine, make sure Johnny writes down everything you ask him to do. On second thought, get a work order! Now I have to go find a carburetor shop to do the work I wanted done in the first place! read more

Just bought a new to me boat 23' genesis took it here to prime ti have it serviced. They were able to get me in went through the whole boat and trailer. They found a few issues with the boat and informed me of them and were able to get the boat running the way it should by the weekend so I could take it out for the first time.
