My son and I are on a road trip to visit family in the Carolinas and stopped here! The service was fast , polite and Marcie was great! I had a Denver omelette and it was so good and large I almost did not finish it. Will had a cheeseburger and fries! Looked good and he ate it all . They got us in and out even with the Sunday brunch crowd ! I recommend Grumpy's heck they even have my face on the menu!!! read more

Grumpy's Restaurant - Menu - Diners Near Me - Yulee, Florida

Grumpy's is a local restaurant chain that has won a number of awards, so I thought I'd check them out. The Wildlight location is medium-sized with a few counter seats, a handful of four-top booths, a preponderance of six-top booths and one area that could seat eight. Outdoor seating with four-top tables is also available. If you have a large group, I'd call ahead. The seats are not padded, and became uncomfortable after a while. The atmosphere is traditional diner - loud but not overly so. Good for families. Service was prompt: I was seated immediately and served within a minute. After placing my order, it arrived quickly as well. Being my first time, I selected the #1: two eggs, protein, and a choice of pancakes or toast. My order went with scrambled, bacon and pancakes, along with coffee. The food arrived quickly and was well presented on the plate. The scrambled eggs were a bit runny, but at least a little effort to make them fluffy was made. It wasn't enough to send them back, but I considered it. In contrast, the bacon and pancakes were perfect. The bacon was crispy and of a good thickness, with no excess grease. The pancakes were cooked to picture perfection. About the only criticism I can offer is the flavor was unremarkable. They tasted like a pancake - nothing stood out, either good nor bad. Breakfast syrup is available at the table - also rather generic in flavor. Lastly, the coffee served was a decent morning blend, but it was clear the batch I was served from had been cooked using water that was too hot. You could tell it was intended to be a mellow blend, but overheating had brought out some harshness. Sugar and cream would cover it up, but when reviewing I taste it black so I know how good it was to start. Overall, it's a good restaurant. No major complaints. Great service and a widely varied menu. It's just not an *outstanding* restaurant. Only caveat is that it's not set up inherently for large groups. read more

Stopped by Grumpy's this weekend. It seemed to be a place where the locals go. It was packed and for very good reason. We were greeted immediately and service was great throughout our experience. The interior is bright, southern and rustic. It features white walls with clean, gray wood paneling. There are also some very unique hanging lights in jugs that added a nice themed touch. There is also a kitchen view. The menu features all the best breakfast and lunch highlights you would find at a diner. The space is used extremely well. There are booths and tables, along with outdoor seating. There were a bunch of people seated but you don't feel like you're on top of each other. I ordered the large breakfast. I wanted to try a bit of everything. The scrambled eggs were a home run. Very creamy and hearty. Great taste. The pancakes were stellar as well. Very light and fluffy. Really good flavor and absorbed the syrup well. Really great sausage patties as well. The hash browns unfortunately were very bland and dry. Decent outside but the inside needed work. Overall a great experience and I'm sure we'll be back to try more. A great breakfast/brunch spot in Yulee. read more

We were across the street for a Yelp event this morning and came here afterward for breakfast. I am so glad we did because it was great. There was a small line when we arrived and throughout our breakfast, so it is a very popular spot. We were quickly seated at a table for two near the front. Service from all staff was outstanding. They have a big breakfast menu along with some specials and a number of lunch items on there as well. I had the house special omelet, which came with bacon, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, and cheddar cheese. I opted for hash browns and rye toast. The portions are huge, and it all tasted great. My husband had French toast and bacon. He loved his meal as well. This is a well run restaurant. read more

We went on a Thursday morning and we're able to sneak in right before the wait times started. When we left there were several parties waiting outside. Food prices were higher then expected even after inflation but not ridiculous. 2 people cost about $25-35 with tip. Food came fast and our server checked on us from time to time. The slowest part was cashing out and even that was only maybe 5 min. Id go back. read more

Grumpy's Restaurant - Surprisingly exceeded my high expectations. The biscuits and gravy definitely did not if that helps set a standard. - Diners Near Me - Yulee, Florida

We go to Grumpy's about once a month. We have never had a bad meal there. Just a heads up that you will likely have to wait for a table, as they are generally busy during "normal" breakfast hours. But the wait is usually pretty quick. Service has always been great too. I have personally had breakfast and lunch items there, and they simply hit the mark every time. read more

Know that Grumpys is packed on the weekends so be prepared for a wait. And it's packed because the food is excellent and the portions are huge. This is one of my favorite brunch spots. The service is impeccable, the menu has a wide variety to choose from and I've never had a bad meal here. It does feel packed in when it's busy, but that's the price of success. read more

Grumpy's is in name only as if your Grumpy while your here, then your not eating. Off the chain good food, breakfast or lunch-hot or cold plates and they give you plenty of food. Our server was great bringing extra coffee and water. Not too loud -probably because everyone was stuffing their face. I ordered the country fried steak and it was tender and tasty. I did not order pancakes, but the family beside us did and let me tell you those are the biggest pancakes EVER! There was enough for 4 people to have a half and be incredibly full! Come early as they are still pretty busy and it's the newness of the restaurant read more

Well Grumpy's has finally come to my neighborhood. I have eaten at other Grumpy's locations, but now I am less grumpy due to the opportunity to have good food nearby. Had the tuna melt and coffee. The bread was toasted well and the interior of the sandwich was plentiful and tasty. Great server who was attentive from start to finish. Will definitely be returnibg read more

Ordered the eggs Benedict with home fries. The Sauce was a cool and English muffin was a rock hard. The home fries were not hot. The wife had eggs, sausage and pancakes. Great food and service again. You can never go wrong here. A ten minute wait turned out to be three minutes. I was in and out of there in twenty minutes on a busy Sunday morning. I make the drive here from Georgia because it's worth it. read more

It was finally my turn to go. I had heard from neighbors, relatives, facebook pages and the like about Grumpys. I mean the place is soooo close to my house. Why didn't I go sooner? It's pretty brand new and in a new happening area of Nassau County. Wildlight. Right beside the Publix supermarket. We were rushing home from Daytona and were concerned that we wouldn't make it on time before they closed at 2 PM. We made it and with plenty of time to spare. Seated immediately, we looked at the huge selection of both breakfast and all day items. It was really hard to decide but I went with the fried green tomato eggs Benedict. Wow! Did not disappoint! Fried green tomatoes can be risky because you never know what you might get. These were perfect and the hollandaise sauce was an excellent compliment. Instead of the regular sides you can get any other sides or in my case the chicken tortilla soup! Holy chicken tortilla that was a bomb of flavor and I wished I would have opted for a larger portion but after having my eggs and sneaking off some fries from my wife's plate dipped in spicy hollandaise sauce from her fantastic OP burger. I took a picture of my Green tomato eggs Benedict but unfortunately it didn't save. Not sure why but I would have loved to share it with you. The picture, not the eggs. LOL. read more

Wow! A great diner experience, and an incredible server in Jennifer E. We were quickly seated on a Sunday morning, and enjoyed an omelette and a French toast. The food was delivered fresh, and it was well prepared. Our drinks were refilled frequently by our server Jennifer, and she just had the most incredible demeanor of happiness combined with being respectful, yet casual. I wish I could describe it better, but she's just a superstar. Overall, a wonderful restaurant, reasonable pricing at about $20 per person all in, and great service. We'll definitely be back when in the yulee area, or heading to Fernandina Beach. read more

We stopped here on the way back from Florida. What a great little place! Good people, friendly staff. Our food was delicious and came out in a reasonable amount of time. We all enjoyed our food. The most I was happy about was the changing tables in the men's bathroom! We needed to change my son's diaper and my husband went in there and it was so clean and well stocked! Gotta love a business that puts diaper changing stations in both men and women's restaurants. We need more of these. Good luck to this place. Hope they keep up the good work. read more

First time in this place, packed with people waiting at the door. Everyone is enjoying their meal. My breakfast was good. Eggs & bacon and toast. Nothing to brag. Hubs had a sandwich fish with bread and a salad. Still nothing to brag. I didn't like how dirty the floors, kitchen, bathroom. Just passing by to go to key west. Food on carpet food on the floors and everywhere in the kitchen, Needs pride of ownership. Does everyone eat in their dirty kitchen? The service is excellent. Not a factor to come back. read more

It was super packed at this new restaurant in Yulee but as a part of 2, we were only waiting for about 20 minutes. The flavored coffee of the day was caramel nut and it was DELICIOUS!!! Wish I could get the ground to make at home. It's a very family oriented feeling and even with a screaming baby sitting a few tables down, I felt at home! I was so excited for this restaurant to open. There is not a decent breakfast place in Nassau county until you get to Fernandina..... and there still isn't. I don't get all the reviews talking about the great food everything was bland. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 was the coffee, it was maple pecan or something like that and was some of the best brewed coffee I have ever had. My wife had a create your own omelet that came with toast my wife asked if she could get a pancake and pay an upcharge which we could and the server insisted we call a sub 1. The omelet had no flavor, some of the toppings were cooked in with the eggs instead of layered inside with the meat and cheese. Her "sub 1" did not come with her food. The server stated first that the cook didn't see it and was making it fresh, then he burned it so he was making another one. By the time she got hers, she had eaten some of mine and decided she did not want hers, which turned out fine because the server told us they were not charging her the upcharge. I opted for the hamburger steak breakfast. I also had the "sub 1". My eggs were OK, I just really think it is hard to mess up over medium eggs. None of my food seemed to have any seasoning. The hamburger tasted like just ground beef patted out and put on the grill, they had A-1 so I was able to doctor it up a bit, I will say it was cooked properly just had no flavor. The grits appeared to be just water and grits, cooked not instant, but no salt, pepper, bacon grease, nothing to add flavor. I paid extra to add cheese and it wasn't helpful. The sub 1 pancake was not good at all, very dry and was overcooked but after the fiasco with my wife's pancake we were not willing send mine back. I was really disappointed with this experience, having a local sit down breakfast place close to home was really a big deal to me. I will not be back. read more

We've been here a couple times and even though there is often a line of people waiting we never wait more than 15 or 20 minutes. The chicken tenders are huge! It looks like a breast filleted into three pieces. The tuna fish sandwich on rye is absolutely beautiful, sitting on homemade bread not just regular sandwich slices. The country breakfast sounds like a lot of food but compared to the other plates, it looks more like a kids meal. The French toast was good, also homemade bread. This is not a place for a long, leisurely meal- they have a lot of people to feed. But you will get good service and leave full. read more

The wife and I made our first visit to a Grumpy's and this was the chosen location. We stopped in for breakfast, greeted at the door and seated right away. I got the #1 breakfast and it was excellent. The scrambled eggs were perfectly "soft cooked" and tasty. It came with two very good/fluffy pancakes but the winner was the complementary cinnamon roll because we had two wait for our pancake orders! The Mrs thoroughly enjoyed her sausage-n-gravy biscuit, hash browns and bacon.....she did order a "side" pancake and it was huge! .....we brought that home. Service was friendly and attentive. The one ding on this visit was no fresh squeezed o.j. (or any o.j.) because the machine was down. read more

We came on a Friday morning and waited around 30 minutes for a table.(2 people) This is not bad considering it's the Grand Opening week.
