Restaurant was busy but it is very organized with a quick flip of tables when customers leave and new ones come. Our server was friendly and attentive. The orange juice was freshly squeezed and delicious. I ordered fish and chips and my husband had the BLT and potato soup. The food was good with large portions, so we both left with boxes. Stopped in here for brunch on July 4th. We got sat at a table right away. Our service was super fast and all of the employees were very friendly. I have to say the place was packed when we arrived at 1:00. They close at 2:00. We asked for outside seating. Food was hot and fresh. Coffee was good too. My issue is a significant one in my opinion. Why used margarine or other fake butter on your toast! Yuck:( That was a game changer for me! Now I didn't ask if they had the real butter because my toast was already made with the fake butter. Have been here four times since moving here in May and this was a great find. First off, it's always really busy on weekends, but they get you seated efficiently. You can get free water or coffee while you wait and there are plenty of places to seat while you wait. The food has been very good each time; get a southern recipe like chicken fried steak or sausage gravy and biscuits...delicious! Each time we've been there our server has been outstanding. Shrimp and grits special didn't have the savory flavor I would have expected. It was more like a heavy Zataran flavor, in my opinion. I wasn't a fan. Our first visit at any Grumpy's. My daughter wanted us to try the Orange Park location but it was too busy. This location is closer to us and the wife wanted to try some place new. Got here for a late breakfast so it wasn't slammed like I usually see them. Got seated right away and our bubbly server greeted us quickly. Tried the OJ, didn't realize it was fresh squeezed. Not complaining its freshness but it had a bitter orange peel tinge to it. I ordered the Grumpy's Big Breakfast. 2 eggs, chose the bacon, and home fries and comes with 2 huge pancakes. The bacon was under cooked for my liking. I enjoy crispy bacon, this was half cooked bacon at best, if it limps over when you pick it up it's not cooked enough. The home fries were barely warm, almost room temperature but had a great seasoning on it. My sister came to this location several weeks ago and said she got the grits over the home fries and also said her grits were barely warm. At least they're consistent on the warmth of their food. I also had to salt my eggs. The winner of the breakfast was the cinnamon roll we got to try before our breakfast was served. That was outstanding! Initially I only ordered OJ and water but the Big breakfast comes with coffee, tea or soda, so I ordered a coffee also. When I received the bill a coffee was on the bill and I brought it to my server's attention and she removed it from the tab. Just watch your check for unnecessary charges. Overall it was okay for us, Cracker Barrel would have been better. You need to tighten up on your food warming station and have someone quality control the food going out. It's obviously a problem. I first have to commend Michael, our server! I truly hope management realizes the gem they have with him. He approached our table with the most genuine smile and was extremely attentive to me and my friend. Always one step ahead he was there with refills for her coffee and unsweet tea for me. He was even forward thinking to verify that the corn beef hash was made from scratch. (sad enough it was not) but I commend him for finding out and allowing me to change the order. His service is beyond reproach and should be commended by management. This new location (well for me) is outstanding. Clean warm and inviting provides a wonderful atmosphere for spending time with friends. We had the privilege of getting to sit outside, which was nice this particular day. The pancakes that I had I have to say were cooked to perfection! They were a nice light golden Brown, not overcooked, and the eggs were done perfectly. I can see how this place would be a good option. Lots of menu items, friendly staff, big restaurant. Sadly, the sandwich was lousy. Ordered the big blt, which was advertised as big and beautiful. Mine came out as a bbl. Bacon, bread, lettuce. Had to go find my server to ask for tomato, which came as two tiny unripe slices. Sigh. The bacon was soft and cold, fatty and chewy, I added my tomato, took one bite and said nope. By then we had already been waiting an hour, so I just asked for it to be taken off. Which they gladly did. Meh, that was my experience and probably won't be back thru here. Although if I was local, I might try it again. My dining partner ate their meal, it was unremarkable. With a catchy name like Grumpys, how can you not stop when traveling through the area. We arrived at lunch time on a Tuesday and were promptly seated. Our server was efficient, friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a variety of tables and seats at the counter. Behind the counter is an efficient person taking care of all outcoming food orders. It seemed to work very well. I ordered an iced tea and a patty melt with fries. As others stated, food at a table doesn't arrive all at once, but ours was only minutes apart. My sandwich was cooked to the perfect temperature and was nice and hot. The fries are seasoned, but in a good way. My only gripe is the bench seating. It is so uncomfortable and maybe done so that you eat and leave quickly so they can turn over the table faster. read more

Grumpy's is a local restaurant chain that has won a number of awards, so I thought I'd check them out. The Wildlight location is medium-sized with a few counter seats, a handful of four-top booths, a preponderance of six-top booths and one area that could seat eight. Outdoor seating with four-top tables is also available. If you have a large group, I'd call ahead. The seats are not padded, and became uncomfortable after a while. The atmosphere is traditional diner - loud but not overly so. Good for families. Service was prompt: I was seated immediately and served within a minute. After placing my order, it arrived quickly as well. Being my first time, I selected the #1: two eggs, protein, and a choice of pancakes or toast. My order went with scrambled, bacon and pancakes, along with coffee. The food arrived quickly and was well presented on the plate. The scrambled eggs were a bit runny, but at least a little effort to make them fluffy was made. It wasn't enough to send them back, but I considered it. In contrast, the bacon and pancakes were perfect. The bacon was crispy and of a good thickness, with no excess grease. The pancakes were cooked to picture perfection. About the only criticism I can offer is the flavor was unremarkable. They tasted like a pancake - nothing stood out, either good nor bad. Breakfast syrup is available at the table - also rather generic in flavor. Lastly, the coffee served was a decent morning blend, but it was clear the batch I was served from had been cooked using water that was too hot. You could tell it was intended to be a mellow blend, but overheating had brought out some harshness. Sugar and cream would cover it up, but when reviewing I taste it black so I know how good it was to start. Overall, it's a good restaurant. No major complaints. Great service and a widely varied menu. It's just not an *outstanding* restaurant. Only caveat is that it's not set up inherently for large groups. read more

We were seated quickly and our server, Ryan B, made sure our drinks were always refilled. The restaurant was full and our food didn't take long. They also had a shaded outdoor seating g area. Stopped by Grumpy's this weekend. It seemed to be a place where the locals go. It was packed and for very good reason. We were greeted immediately and service was great throughout our experience. The interior is bright, southern and rustic. It features white walls with clean, gray wood paneling. There are also some very unique hanging lights in jugs that added a nice themed touch. There is also a kitchen view. The menu features all the best breakfast and lunch highlights you would find at a diner. The space is used extremely well. There are booths and tables, along with outdoor seating. There were a bunch of people seated but you don't feel like you're on top of each other. I ordered the large breakfast. I wanted to try a bit of everything. The scrambled eggs were a home run. Very creamy and hearty. Great taste. The pancakes were stellar as well. Very light and fluffy. Really good flavor and absorbed the syrup well. Really great sausage patties as well. The hash browns unfortunately were very bland and dry. Decent outside but the inside needed work. We were across the street for a Yelp event this morning and came here afterward for breakfast. I am so glad we did because it was great. There was a small line when we arrived and throughout our breakfast, so it is a very popular spot. We were quickly seated at a table for two near the front. Service from all staff was outstanding. They have a big breakfast menu along with some specials and a number of lunch items on there as well. I had the house special omelet, which came with bacon, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, and cheddar cheese. I opted for hash browns and rye toast. The portions are huge, and it all tasted great. We go to Grumpy's about once a month. We have never had a bad meal there. Just a heads up that you will likely have to wait for a table, as they are generally busy during "normal" breakfast hours. But the wait is usually pretty quick. Service has always been great too. I have personally had breakfast and lunch items there, and they simply hit the mark every time. read more
