Today our group met at the infamous Grumpy's. Sometimes I order... sometimes I don't. Today I thought -- let's get something delicious. I went with the avocado toast with a poached egg -- and I truly wasn't sure what to expect. What I didn't expect? This ginormous feast. Look at all that avocado -- not the tiny smear so many places give you. Fresh sprouts? Yes please. Poached egg? I'll probably skip that next time, but still beautifully done. And a full bowl of fruit on the side. The service was outstanding -- and with about 12 of us in the group, that's no small feat. I didn't catch the server's name since someone else generously covered our meal (thank you, mysterious breakfast hero ), but everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish. As someone with celiac -- aka gluten-free required -- it's always a win to find a place where I can go out and eat like a queen.

I came here for breakfast after watching the sunrise, so around 7am. It's close to town center and the beach so that's a plus! Walking in that early, it was fairly empty and i sat by the bar. I was greeted immediately and was brought out my drinks (water & coffee). I ordered corned beef hash with scrambled eggs and Swiss cheese, hash browns, and a biscuit. It came out fairly quickly which was nice. The servers were also super nice and attentive. And as a bonus, I think this place originated in Jax so you're going somewhere local technically. Definitely a must!!

We were in the area to run some errands this morning and decided to have breakfast here. The restaurant was pretty full inside but we were able to get a table fairly quickly. They have indoor, outdoor, and counter seating. The menu is big and offers both breakfast and lunch options. I had the vegetable and cheese omelete with hash browns and rye toast. The serving was very generous and tasted great. My sister made her own omelette and chose sausage, mushrooms and cheese. She also loved her meal. Service was good from our server, Jeremy. They also serve drinks and had an adorable drink cart decorated in red, white and blue colors.

Great service Daniel was friendly and attentive. Our group were happy with our food and service. Portions were generous. Dad joked that you definitely won't leave here grumpy great food And they keep the coffee mug full. Menu has many options. They were also very busy but they had plenty of staff to accommodate. Great casual beach breakfast brunch spot.

Tusi place is amazing. The food is great and the service is everything. The ambiance is family friendly. This is my must go to place in Jacksonville

The food and service was amazing. It also really cute inside. We didn't have to wait long to be seated. Peach mimosas was my favorite.

Finally made it out to a Grumpy's location here in Jax, thanks to a recommendation from a fellow Elite we all know and love -- Chef James D! Sunday brunch at the Neptune Beach location was a real treat. Heads up: parking can be a little tricky unless you're driving a truck . We arrived around 11:45 AM and were quoted a 15-20 minute wait for two, but ended up snagging a cozy booth in the back within 5 minutes -- love when that happens. Our server was fantastic: knowledgeable about the full menu, quick to recommend specials, and impressively handled making our alcoholic drinks despite how busy the restaurant was. I ordered one of their classic breakfast combos (either #2 or #3), while my plus one went with the day's special: a steak omelette. Both dishes were hearty, piping hot, and gave a real bang for your buck. Grumpy's marketing team has reached out to me before offering a complimentary meal in exchange for social media content. I hadn't taken them up on it -- but after finally experiencing it for myself and being genuinely impressed, I'll definitely keep them in mind for future collabs. I can't sell what I haven't tried myself - full transparency. It's definitely share worthy. Huge thanks to James D. for the solid recommendation! Left very happy with the service, food, and overall vibe.

Service is always awesome here. The servers are good at anticipating your needs and providing things before you even know you need them-- today was our servers birthday and she made the experience so much better. Food is HOT & Fresh! ***Pro tip: Berry butter is delicious. Get your hash browns "scattered & crispy". For bread options...get the Asiago. Trust me.

We were on a road trip to Jacksonville Beach and decided to order pickup breakfast at Grumpy's while in JB on 12/21/24. The reviews looked good for the most part so we ordered and picked up breakfast for our room. The restaurant is cute and nicely decorated and was filled with people. It looked encouraging. I ordered the Ham n Cheese omelet thinking that it should be perfection. Unfortunately, it wasn't! It was so dry and tasted weird. Overcooked. I was starving so I didn't want to drive back and wait again for a new order. My daughter ordered the seafood omelet and her order had the same problem, dried out and didn't taste well. We couldn't finish them and threw them away. We had also ordered a Belgian waffle to share and luckily, it tasted ok and the maple syrup was good. So disappointed. Our server was Cameron. Our sad little breakfast cost us $60. We will not be going back.

Having the #6 - $13.99 and Black coffee - $3.79! For that price it had better be Really Great Coffee Corned beef hash. I'm ordering it stacked with over easy eggs crispy corned beef and crispy hash browns and sour dough toast. We'll see what we get,,, Stephanie did a great job and I always like sitting at the counter of a cafe atmosphere restaurant. I had to chuckle when it came upside down but the flavors are great and that's what really matters isn't it?! All in all, worth the money! But the coffee leaves a lot to be desired in the flavor department costing them a full star and a thumb. Since we all know coffee is an important indicator and essential to a breakfast place's reputation.

Hubby and I really liked the St. John's location but this location is closer to home so we decided to check it out. It was a busy Friday morning, we did have to wait about 20 minutes for a table. The hostess and other staff were super friendly. Our server was attentive and helpful. I ordered a bacon, egg (over medium) and cheese croissant with hash browns as my side. Hubby ordered the Grumpy's country breakfast with scrabbled eggs, sausage, French toast and added a side of hash browns. I loved my breakfast sandwich! The over medium egg was cooked perfectly as was the thick cut bacon. The croissant was buttery and lightly toasted inside. The hash browns were phenomenal! Salty and crispy. Hubby's country breakfast was yummy, too. The sausage, French toast, maple syrup combo was delish. Grumpy's never disappoints but this location was even better than expected. We will definitely be back very soon!

This is one pancake- I added blueberries-huge

We tried this spot today for brunch. The wait was about 10 minutes when we arrived which wasn't bad. They call your name on a speaker system once you check in and when your table is ready and man is it loud. Too loud honestly. They have inside and outside seating and we waited for an inside table. Our server, Stephanie, was really great! Happy to answer questions, upbeat and very sweet. She honestly was the highlight of our meal. The pros and cons were as follows: Cinnamon roll was 9/10- we shared that to start but it is sweet so be prepared. I had one pancake and added blueberries and it was HUGE- I couldn't eat 1/3 of it, but a bit too dense for me 6/10 Cheese grits were not warm enough 3/10 Shredded hash browns again not warm enough 5/10 A mimosa and a poinsettia were OK but very weak with champagne 4/10. I left over half of the second one which is not normal for me. Hubby had the breakfast platter. His opinion was eggs were scrambled but overcooked 4/10, pancakes way too dense 6/10, breakfast potatoes were good but not warm enough 6/10, bacon was good 9/10, he ate the meat that came with mine and chose the sausage link 5/10. They offer brunch and lunch every day. The menu offers many different options. I just wished the food was better. They give you huge portions but we like better tasting food as opposed to large portions.

Both were amazinggggg but the best was the Brussels sprouts. I always thought I didn't like them but after eating these I found out I do! That sauce is amazing. For my entree, I got the chimichurri steak. It had great flavor, but was a little cold. I guess I didn't get any pics of dessert because it was just that good but we got the sticky toffee cake and I'm still dreaming about it!! So delicious!! Our waiter, Jonathan, was so sweet, and already split the items we split on the bill for our group like dessert without us asking and very knowledgeable of the menu especially different wines. Will definitely be back!

Inside today was very loud, but it seemed to be a lot of celebrations going on around us. From fried green tomatoes to savory grits, to some of the best fried shrimp in the universe

I used to absolutely love this place. It was our go-to for seafood, celebrations, family dinners,…read moreand special occasions for years. We recommended it constantly and genuinely enjoyed supporting them. Unfortunately, after our last few experiences, that loyalty is completely gone. The problems really started during a dinner visit with my spouse. We had a reservation for two and specifically requested a booth because my spouse has herniated discs and booths are much easier on her back. The hostess with glasses told us there were "no booths available for parties of two," so we were seated at a tiny two-top directly in front of an empty booth. Minutes later, another couple - who apparently didn't even have the correct downstairs reservation because Wheel House was closed for a private event - was seated in that exact booth instead. When I politely questioned it, I was told they were "accommodating them." Interesting, because apparently accommodating a medical issue for customers with a reservation didn't matter. Still, we decided to give the restaurant another chance for Mother's Day. To their credit, we were seated at a booth this time after I both noted it in the reservation and called ahead to confirm it. Our waiter was someone we immediately recognized from a previous visit, and my parents mentioned he had waited on us before at that same table. Somehow, from that comment alone, he became convinced we were related to Chef Tim Tillus. From there, things got bizarre. He kept talking about "Timmy," mentioning reunions and saying he used to live with him. The restaurant was extremely loud, and my father had forgotten his hearing aids that day, so honestly we could barely understand what he was talking about. We just smiled politely and focused on asking about the menu because we truly had no clue where the conversation was going. Eventually, he came back and realized we were NOT Chef Tim Tillus' family. He then explained that the kitchen staff had apparently been laughing because the chef saw us and said, "That's not my family." So somehow this became a whole ordeal in the kitchen over a completely innocent misunderstanding. We laughed awkwardly because what else do you do at that point? But honestly, the whole interaction felt strange and unprofessional. Unfortunately, the food was even worse than the awkward service. My spouse ordered the all-day seafood soup, and somehow there was basically ZERO seafood in it. That alone was shocking because their soups used to be incredible. My father ordered the broiled platter, and the portion size was honestly embarrassing for a $29 dish. His parsley potatoes consisted of literally five tiny cubes - my mother counted them because we were in disbelief. We have eaten here for years and NEVER saw portions this small. I ordered the fish special, and it was nothing like described. It was supposed to have pecans and blackening seasoning. There were no pecans, no blackening seasoning, and the fish itself was dry, bland, overcooked, and flavorless. For $32, I was served what looked like a tiny sad pile of fish in the middle of a giant empty plate. The pork chop looked beautiful but tasted absolutely awful. At this point I honestly don't know if the kitchen quality has completely collapsed or if nobody is checking food before it leaves the line anymore. Either way, it was terrible. My mother ordered scallops on the half shell as her meal - something she has enjoyed there many times before. This time, the scallops were tiny and somehow greasy. It was shocking these dishes were even leaving the kitchen. What makes this so disappointing is that we truly loved this restaurant. We weren't casual customers. We supported this place for years because we believed the food and experience were worth it. This wasn't just a mediocre meal or an "off night." This was a genuinely terrible dining experience from start to finish, made worse by the fact that it happened on Mother's Day. The service felt awkward and disorganized, the portions were insulting, the food quality was awful, and there seemed to be zero quality control happening anywhere. At this point, our money will be supporting other establishments instead. It's honestly sad because this place USED to be special. I sincerely hope management fixes the kitchen, consistency, and overall professionalism before even more longtime customers walk away.

The stone crab claws were absolutely delicious, along with the oysters and shrimp. Fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we were hoping for. My biggest recommendation is to call ahead if you're looking for stone crab claws, because they do sell out! One thing I really appreciated was being able to see all the fresh seafood on display. You can sit right at the bar area and watch them prep at the display case! For my military friends, it's also conveniently located right down the road from base, making it an easy stop when you're craving fresh seafood.
