I recently purchased a second home where I do not live. I had one specific date where I could get my grout steamed, and Kevin, Kim, and the team were so accommodating. They scheduled me on my desired date, provided an estimate after seeing photos I sent via text, and were quick to communicate with me leading up to my appointment. Day of, Rodney came to my unit and spent all day turning my new condo into something that now looks beautiful and brand new! Rodney was professional, an expert in what he does, and super detail oriented. He helped me pick out a seal color that perfectly matched my tile, and got every single nook and cranny, even in closets! I enjoyed getting to know Rodney a bit on the service day as well. I can't recommend this small, family business enough. If you don't believe my words, look at the photos! Thanks, Kevin, Kim, and Rodney! read more

We had Mike come sell us on their tile clean and stain service which cost $525 (less than competitors). The first technician offered very low quality work - missed spots, ran out of stain and asked if we wanted him to go get more, the caulk work was absolutely terrible. It ended up requiring a more experienced technician to come revisit the job which was him basically re-caulking. To Grout Experts credit, they had someone back out a couple days later to fix it meaning we only had to wait 4 more days until we could use our shower. Fast forward 8 months later and we're still experiencing problems with mold/mildew on both our grout/caulk. Knowing they offer a 1-year warranty which was advertised by Mike, Kevin, their website, and quote, we requested someone to come back to fix it. We received a call from the president of the company who felt it was appropriate to lecture us on how he's now out money from this job due to increased gas and labor costs and would have to charge us an service fee to come fix it. He would not recognize the warranty. After having received much attitude from Kevin and what seemed like unwillingness to fix it, he scheduled someone to come back out under the warranty. Having paid $525, receiving this quality of work, attitude, and now being out a shower (our only one) due to the 3 visits, I'd recommend going with a competitor for extra $ or doing it yourself. After all, a handheld grout steamer, some stain, caulk, and a little time of your own would cost less and probably look better than their work. Not to mention, you might save some stress avoiding dealing with this incompetence...and Kevin. Giving 2 star because of the price and after all is said and done, it was at least completed. Sonny (the second tech) and the third gentleman who came to fix things were very kind and nice to work with. read more

Excellent work all around. I inquired about a job and Keon got right back to me. Scheduled a time and Steve Y. was right on time. He did a wonderful job and explained everything that he did. Great job! I'd highly recommend. read more

I originally called Grout Experts to retile our bathroom after reading the amazing reviews. Michael came out to give us an estimate, and he was very nice and got us on the schedule quickly. On the appointed day, Carlos and Daniel came out to do the work, however, Carlos left and only Daniel remained to do the work. Everything started out fine, and then Daniel told me that I need to go and pick up grout to do the job, I asked what kind, and tried to show him the pictures on the Home Depot website, but he just told me he was pretty sure I needed sanded grout and he couldn't tell me anything else about it. Fine. I went to Home Depot, purchaser the grout and brought it back for him to use. As he was close to finishing, he asked me if I had any extra tiles for the bath, as he had broken one off two day prior during demo. We did not, so he place and ill-fitting tile in place of it, and grouted it with gray grout, so it looks terrible. He also then proceeded to also tell me that my tile was thin and cheap, and it might crack. I then asked him why he didn't tell me this prior to installing it. (I also asked Carlos this question when he returned later that day) and both of them told me it wasn't their problem or their place to tell me, they were just there to do the job. After they finished the job and left, I opened the door and found the mess they left behind. The porcelain in my sink and tile in my shower were stained black, there was dirt coating the walls, exhaust fan and in the cabinets, and the inside of my toilet was coated black. I spent a total of 4 hours cleaning a 60 foot bathroom space, and the walls are so dirty we have no choice but to paint them. I let the tile and grout sit to dry for 48 hours, and then steam-washed it with my steam mop, which is when I noticed that the grout was flaking out. I immediately called Michael, who assured me someone would come to fix it immediately. I also noted with Kim, the scheduler, when I called, that I did not want Daniel back in my house. Michael and Carlos showed up Wednesday morning to look at the issue, and both decided that the grout used was most likely expired, and said they would buy more grout and get it fixed, and Carlos said his 'guy' was at Home Depot right then buying grout, and, although Carlos couldn't stay, his guy would fix it. Imagine my surprise when I came home, and Daniel was, again, in my bathroom. I immediately contacted Michael to voice my displeasure, and was assured that he was confident Daniel would do a good job and remedy the situation. I immediately called Kevin to voice my displeasure, but was unable to speak with him until after Daniel had left. Upon Daniel leaving, I went into my bathroom to once again see that my sink had mysteriously turned black again, and there was a whole bag of grout stuffed under the cabinet. I grabbed the bag to move it, not realizing it was stuffed in there with a hole in both the grout bag and the plastic bag it was in, which caused a mess on my floor, both of which I had to clean up. When my husband returned, we looked at the floor by the door, and saw that the grout, which had supposedly been fixed, was flaking again. I sent a message to both Kevin and Michael, but we are currently right back to where we started, just a week later in the process, and still do not have a resolution. We were planning on listing our house next week, but now I'm not sure where we stand, or how we can move forward in getting this situation remedied. I'm upset, frustrated, and will have to pay for a project that was not done up to anyone's standards. read more

Grout "Experts" was an absolute nightmare to deal with. We rent our place, and the shower in the basement needed to be re-grouted. a simple job. This company came over, applied grout, left dried grout and garbage all over the bathroom and left. We waited a week to use the shower and upon the first use, the grout came up. Grout Experts proceeded to show up 4 more times over the next 6 months to re-grout. WTF? They were stringing us along for one year and not fixing the issue. They reminded us EVERY time they showed up that our warranty was almost up and we would need to start paying for these trips soon. I still cant believe how this company has anything above 1 star. There was a different associate each time (they looked like they were subcontracted and not even grout expert employees). They even tried to use grout that was well over 5 years old from our laundry room, and I had to continue to tell them that we don't want old grout installed. If you want unacceptable work and you want to overpay drastically ($600 to caulk???) then Grout experts is your go-to company. Our landlords have since hired another company to tear up the entire shower and replace the floor, because grout experts never dried under the tiles before applying grout and the entire underlayment was ruined because it was just holding still water under the tiles. This company literally ruined our bathroom floor and turned a quick re-grout into a one year, $5K nightmare. Thanks guys! read more

We worked with Grout Experts on 3 of our bathrooms that need to be stained and water sealed. Being a first time homeowner, I knew nothing about grout or tiling, but Mike who came to do the estimate was amazing. You can tell he really knows his stuff and was so helpful in explaining everything and teaching me about what type of stone/tile we had and how they'd designed our bathrooms. The technicians were great too and showed me samples of the stain they were going to use to make sure I liked how it looked before doing the whole bathroom. They also gave tips on how to keep it clean and maintained going forward. I had no idea a service like this existed, and I'm so glad I called them. It was well worth the investment! read more

Awful experience and I could have done a better job of caulking myself, which is saying a lot since I've never had to caulk anything in my life. The pictures don't lie. They removed and replaced the caulking in our shower and scrubbed/refreshed the grout. The caulking job was a joke, they left HOLES in the grout and the caulking wasn't done correctly, which caused us to spring a leak from the shower and they wouldn't return our calls after we noticed the damage. If I could give 0 stars, I would. read more

AVOID WORKING WITH THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. We should have paid more attention to the yelp reviews but we were desperate and hoped we would get one of the good techs as there were at least a few good reviews on yelp. Michael came and did the estimate and was very courteous and seemed knowledgable. The technician who did the actual work spent less than two hours doing a job that was supposed to include repairing our cracked shower grout, steam cleaning the shower floor, resealing and coloring the bathtub and shower grout, and caulking the bathtub and shower. At the end of the job there was caulk and color-stain all over the bathroom, none of the areas were actually regrouted, several lines of shower grout were not color-sealed at all, and only half the bathtub grout was done. It looked like a toddler had been given a can of paint and tube of caulk. The old caulk that was removed was left all over the bathroom. Michael did come back to reinspect, agreed that it was an incredibly poor job and said that he was embarrassed about the work that had been done. He agreed to send their top technician,"Sonny," to redo the work the following day. The following day we waited over 3 hours for Sonny to show up and then the SAME GUY who did the initial job walked into our house. In disbelief I called the company, asked to speak to Kevin, the president, but was instead routed to Michael the estimator and their office manager who rescheduled Sonny again. Sonny finally did show up the following day and did an acceptable job. A few days later when the company called to collect payment I was finally able to speak to Kevin who was extremely unapologetic and told me all he aims to do at his company is get the job done eventually. For anyone who has time for a job to be botched, rescheduled, redone and require multiple phone calls over several days by all means hire these guys. For anyone else, do yourself a favor and wait to find the right company or do the job yourself. read more

This is a company that needs to work on time management. I had to make multiple appointments because either the work wasn't done right or the contractor showed up 6 hours late without even a phone call. If you live in downtown Chicago skip this company. They blame everything on traffic etc. if you are in the suburbs maybe it's fine but skip the city. When I called to talk to the owner I was called a liar and never given the opportunity to give my opinion on what could be done to make my experience better. THE OWNER HUNG UP ON ME. Grout experts did a really nice job on a recent project in our condo. We had our limestone countertops resurfaced and Carlos came and spent half a day cleaning, honing, polishing, and resurfacing the countertops. He did a wonderful job, explained the whole process, cleaned up, and taught me a new thing or two on how I could maintain the countertops better on my own. He also recaulked our bathroom which was in dire need of doing. Certainly recommend Grout Experts again in the future. Great job. read more

Start to finish, Kevin and his team were very professional, honest, and great at their jobs. Our travertine shower floor was showing some wear which was my reason for contacting Grout Experts initially. Kevin gave us a quote on cleaning that up and repairing with grout in places the travertine was wearing away. He then also lightly suggested doing some cleanup on the shower walls and the travertine floors in our bathroom right outside the shower. He broke out the quote into separate pieces in case we did not want to do each part, and part of the reason we went with the entire project was because he was not pushy all and pricing was relatively efficient. The first day of work, the tile cleaning/sealing team showed up. They were super professional and efficient and I was able to greet them and get them situated and then go into work without issue. The next day was the grout and caulking guy who I also got situated before returning to work. He was super thorough filling in all places where we were having issues plus caulking the shower walls, floor and the bathroom floor. It looks better than ever. Start to finish from the quote appointment to when work was completed was about one month which is really efficient in my book. Both teams were super clean and professional and left everything looking perfect. We are so glad we did the entire project primarily because our shower floor is no longer falling apart, but also not being a huge fan of the travertine in the first place, I'm really blown away by how great my bathroom floors look... brighter and more beautiful than I thought! read more

I reached out to Kevin to get a quote on regrouting and recaulking our master bath shower. It was an excellent experience from start to finish. After inspection of the shower, Kevin put forward a thorough plan and was very transparent about pricing. The day of service, our technician John arrived on time and was a great partner throughout the process. He had suggestions for changes to the original colors that ended up looking better. I appreciated his investment in doing the job right and making sure our shower looked professionally done. I would definitely recommend the Grout Experts to anyone needing help in this area. read more

Sonny is a great technician. Came out was polite and even recommended a cleaning once I found out it wasn't part of the original quote (my fault for not checking). He was on time and made sure the job was done effectively. Would recommend them on value alone read more

We were looking to have our bathroom grout cleaned on the floor and in the shower. One of their technicians arrived and was clearly lacking experience. We had asked to have the grout cleaned but instead they ended up painting the grout so that the floor grout "appeared" clean. Our shower has black grout and they did the same thing in the shower...painted over our existing grout. The showed looked terrible as they didn't even come close to matching the existing grout color. Within a couple of weeks, the paint was already chipping away and we had to call in another service to actually clean the grout. the "Grout Experts" then insisted we pay them. We tried to fight it but they threatened to put a lien on our house. HORRIBLE experience! read more

Hired Grout Experts to re-tile a 3ft x 3ft x10 ft standing shower in our master bathroom. They charged ~2.7K for the project, roughly half of 4-5 other quoted competitors. Mike came for the quote and he was very professional. Due to work issues, we had to move the project 1-2 times and they accommodated us each time. I believe they sub-contracted the job to a man named Carlos and his company. Overall, they finished the job in 2-3 days and did a good job. After 1-2 weeks, some tiles at the bottom of the shower cracked and Kevin (owner) sent Carlos's company to fix, which they did at no cost. Carlos's workers did a poor job of caulking the borders of the replaced tile, which Kevin fixed the next day with another worker. Giving a 4/5 star review because of many small problems with Carlos, the man sub-contracted for work. There were numerous problems coordinating between Grout Experts and Carlos regarding start times for the project etc. My fiance and I found Carlos to be rude multiple times and were happy he wasn't the primary worker on site. His workers did a poor job finishing the caulk when they returned to fix tiles and when we brought this up, Carlos attempted to defer the responsibility. Each time they left leaving dust/dirt on the floor, bathroom, sink, and hallways requiring personal cleaning. Giving 4/5 stars because the actual owners are responsive and attempt to stand by their work. Their front office is accommodating. Considering they cost 1/2 of many of their competitors, I would put up with the headaches again. read more

We had cracked and moldy grout. They came in and replaced the grout, buffed the stone, and caulked the seams. It looks the best it has since we moved in 12 years ago. The price was fair and all of the crew, from the Mike providing the estimate to the Mike that caulked, were polite and answered all my questions. read more

The pictures say it all. Before a fairly well preserved midcentury bathroom shower with cool turquoise tile needing a little TLC, and After - ruined. I researched multiple options in the Chicago area - a couple of other vendors such as Sir Grout were honest and said they couldn't guarantee they would be able to do the project as we wanted - which was to retain the vintage tiles. Grout Experts assured me that they could reaffix a few loose tiles and regrout my shower/tub area and make it look great. We made it clear that we wanted to keep our vintage mid century bathroom. They came, tore out tile, and then said the entire shower needed to be redone with new tile - but they would cut is a "deal" and for only 2K we'd have an entirely new shower. But the problem is we didn't want a new shower! We wanted to FIX and maintain our vintage shower. This was very clear from the beginning at the time they provided the bid. They've ruined our lovely vintage bath, and have caused what will amount to thousands of dollars in damage. BEWARE!! Yes, believe it or not, this is how they left our home. Kevin the owner did say he wouldn't charge us - yeah thanks for nothing. read more

We received an estimate to re-caulk our shower and a bathtub. The estimate clearly states doing the faucets, the door frames, etc. The technician comes on time, and is done less than 30 minutes later. He only did some of the caulking, and I'm very certain he did not remove the old caulk before applying new caulk as we can see some of the old caulk along with the mold that had grown there. Some of the new caulk was cracking within 24 hours of it being applied. Other areas have no caulk, just the old peeling one. I have tried calling multiple times to get more information and have received no response. $350 for 25 minutes of incomplete and shoddy work. I don't even know how to express my shock. read more

We went with grout experts after reaching out to our regular grout service company because they gave us an estimate that was $5 less than needed for a $50 returning customer discount. Seeing as this was petty in my eyes and since I am a vengeful type we decided to go with Grout Experts and I'm glad we did. We initially contacted Kevin right before every thing shut down due to covid and he was very accommodating as far as pushing the work out to a time when it was safer for all to do so. He also did two bathrooms for the same price as our old grout service quoted us for just one. He sent his tech Sonny out to do the work and he was efficient and wearing PPE for all our safety. Upon completion of the work we noticed a small area that wasn't taken care of and Kevin rescheduled Sonny to come back out and handle it with no fuss. They were professional, nicely priced, and did great work. I'm glad we used them and will definitely use them again in the future. read more

My shower needed some love and Grout Experts made it look perfect! They were very professional. They came out a week after the estimate.

We waited too long to have our grout cleaned, because we had no idea how good it could look! They steamed and stained all grout lines in our kitchen and bathroom. The technician said that you don't have to steam, but if you're a clean freak, make sure he drags in the steamer. It does a really good job of lifting the stains, and you can potentially better decide on the color stain you want, which was the case for us. We were a little worried that the staining would look fake, but amazingly, it doesn't. It just looks like newly applied and sealed grout. The good thing about that, is that if you want a slightly different grout color, you can have these guys help you choose a good color (the technician was really good at it) and you can be confident about having a great looking floor! These guys are truly the experts, and we recommend them highly. read more

I was very pleased with Grout Experts. They fixed some missing tile and repaired/color sealed the grout in my shower and also re-caulked my bathtub. The young man who came was on time, polite and did a good job. He advised me on a grout color (which was good advice) and he left no mess. He was even so kind as to kill a bug for me :-) The only complaint I have is that my initial quote contained an error (on their part) and instead of honoring the quote they raised the price. Then the second quote also contained an error and they tried to raise the price again, I argued and they agreed to the 2nd price they gave me. I feel like I should have been given the first price since it was their error, not mine. Overall though, I am pleased and I would contact them again, but I will read any quotes much more thoroughly to make sure everything I want is included. read more

Just because you call yourself an "expert" doesn't mean you actually are one. What a nightmare it was to work with these people. We needed to have our entire bathroom (shower stall and bathroom floor) re-grouted. The guy they sent did not even steam clean the existing grout first even though the price they quoted me was for steam cleaning and grouting the entire bathroom. He just slapped grout over the existing dirty and stained stuff. He had the bathroom door shut most of the time so I wouldn't see what he was doing. I opened the door and found the guy sitting on the floor of the shower texting on his iPhone. The grout started peeling up right away. Grout Experts came out about 3 times to supposedly fix the problem and it was never fixed because the dirt was always there. The "grout" or whatever it is just peels up the way paint would on a dirty and unprimed surface. I finally just gave up on these guys. Their incompetence wore me down. I have to go elsewhere to get this done right. These guys are the worst! Save yourself a lot of headaches and money and use another company. read more

Should have taken a before and after! Our master bath has beautiful marble and limestone tile work, but looks like it hadn't had much maintenance since the previous owners put it in 12 years ago. The grout was seriously discolored, which we probably would have lived with, but we called Grout Experts because there was mildew growing beneath the failing caulk and we just weren't able to get it clean. They recommended a complete clean/buff/polish/seal job on all the stone tiles followed by a color sealing treatment on the grout in the shower. We also decided to do the clean/buff/polish/seal treatment on the entire floor - we didn't do the color sealing there because it's a big room with super tiny mosaic tiles. I honestly didn't have high hopes for the floor grout since we were just cleaning and not recoloring, but they really got it clean!! It looks brand new. The color sealing and regrouting in the shower turned out great too. The technicians were really friendly and knowledgeable and helped me choose the right match for grout stain. I have no experience with this type of procedure so hopefully it stands the test of time with good care on our end, but as of now, these guys really revamped our bathroom and protected our natural stone tile so it will hopefully keep looking good for years to come. read more
