My wife and I had a great experience tonight at Grouper & Chips. Admittedly we were not sure what to think when we walked in because the dining area is on the small side and we had to wait a few minutes for a table - but it was absolutely worth it. The cooking and wait staff do an excellent job here. My wife and I split a Caesar salad, which was very flavorful. We both ordered off of the specials menu - I got the Linguine with Blackened Mahi, and my wife got the Sautéed yellowfin Snapper. We both raved to one another how good our meals were throughout our dinner. Everything about my linguine special was perfect - the pasta was done just right, the blackened Mahi was full of flavor and it came with sautéed vegetables that were also cooked to perfection. We decided to take a nice drive to Naples for lunch and timed it so that we can get there when it opened because as you can see from other Yelpers pictures, there's usually a line outside. This place is small. But that's ok. Your stomach won't mind. It was well worth the gas spent! We ordered their specialty: Fried grouper with fries for me and fried grouper with shrimps and fries for my husband. Oh, and a seafood chowder. Yup! It was delicious. All of it! Or if you want a taste of just about everything they have you can order the Fisherman's Platter.Fried grouper, shrimp, scallops, and lobster tail served with french fries, coleslaw, fresh lemon and sauces which were tarter and cocktail. I would think my miscalculation was having it deep fried. There are other choices and maybe broiled would have been smarter. The batter is enormous on all the items. Never had a deep fried and battered lobster tail before. Thinking that is not the best way to eat lobster. Very small business limited seating and high demand for the grouper makes for an interesting wait. As we got there early we did not wait but by the time we were finished there were full. The crab cake appetizer was great, as my girlfriend said, just the right blend of crabbyness with breading. We had the daily special which was Mahi Mahi with linguini and Sautéed Salmon. Grouper & Chips was a complete surprise in my quest for new seafood spots in Naples. It is located near downtown Naples in an unassuming strip mall next to a Greek restaurant. There is outdoor seating on the sidewalk by the parking lot and indoors seats about 20-24 people with a narrow hallway where you can sit if you have to wait, as we did. At 1:00 on a Thursday, all the tables were full. After about 20 minutes, they squeezed us into a two-top by the window and took our drink orders. They have a few wines and beers, as well as sodas and sweet tea. I had a perfectly fine Chardonnay and then my companions ordered tea. Drinking alone again. :D I had the Blackened Grouper which came with rice and veg (steamed broccoli and carrots and zucchini); my brother got the crab cake sandwich basket and my nephew the Half Grouper Half Shrimp basket (fried). We got Hush Puppies for a starter - about 10 crisp, tender puppies with a chipotle mayo. My Grouper was exceptional. The memory of the blackening spices is making my mouth water as I write this review and the fish was *perfectly cooked. Their buerre blanc sauce is really thin but still tasty. The steamed veggies still had a nice bite but needed a bit of salt. My brother actually ordered the crab cake *sandwich instead of the entree, not because he wanted the bread but because he didn't want the crab cake sitting in a pool of soupy buerre blanc sauce like the photo we sat staring at in the little waiting hall. The half-and-half Shrimp and Grouper basket was good, with two large shrimp and a good-sized piece of fish. The batter was light and crisp. The French fries and cole slaw were very good! I like a creamier slaw like this one. And next time I'll order my own fries, they were so yummy. I would definitely consider this a good lunch spot with a surprisingly large menu and truly delicious blackened grouper! read more

Wow I can't say enough about this place. First off my mom loves seafood and we were visiting Naples for her birthday. We wanted to grab lunch but didn't want any hotel food. I googled best seafood and this fresh local restaurant came up. It is so quaint and gives you a local feel. I ordered the grouper linguini blackened. Can you say fantastic. It was so much I had to get a to go box. The veggies were crunchy, the grouper was big and grilled to perfection, the noodles were seasoned just right. My mom ordered the crab cake sandwich. On my recent trip to Naples with my cousin and his wife, we all had a taste for seafood and stopped in around 4:30 in the evening for supper. We didn't have to wait and we were sat down promptly. If you come any later you may have to wait but trust me it'll be worth it. So they have amazing tossed salads with their own homemade dressing and a great roll. Don't skip out on that! Next, have their seafood chowder which comes in a giant glass mug. You can see the huge pieces of grouper, shrimp and scallops in it. We had a seafood platter which was plenty enough for three three including an amazingly delicious fried lobster tail. We did add an additional one piece of fish and chips. They're fish is wonderful. We also had conch fritters, two orders! For dessert, they make a homemade key lime pie. It is one of the best that I've had and I am a serious key lime pie aficionado. If you like stale food that's comes to the table cold, chewy and just unsavory. DO NOT COME HERE!!! THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! For starters we ordered the hush puppies and conch fritters. They both came out piping hot, with two home made sauces; cocktail, "spicy Mayo" for lack of a better name. Both very good and the fritters were stuffed with conch! Crunchy and soft at the same time. Dinner, the children had popcorn shrimp and grouper fingers. Both items also made in house and fresh as possible. The shrimp were soft and juicy, not chewy, cold and tasting like they've been cooked twice. The fingers are great also, juicy, fresh, made to order! This children's meals were amazing, and my kids loved it!!! 3/5 years old. My wife, she had the Yellowtail snapper piccata which had a large filet, 8-10oz! Topped with a smooth cream caper sauce onto a crispy and juicy filet. Rice was rice, but the veggies were freshly cut and steamed to perfection. Absolutely delish! I had a very large meal as well; Blackened grouper linguini, sautéed with broccoli, carrots, onions, peppers, not 100% what else, as I was stuffing my face. The grouper was in pieces, which I'd rather have had a filet, but it was chunks which all fit together like a puzzle and there was an ample amount, again 8-10oz! A mountain of flavor! I give this little gem 10 out of 10 (yes I know it's a 5 pt scale, but they are just that good. It's small out 8 indoor tables, but oh boy, you are in for a treat. We began our meal with the hushpuppy and Conch Fritter appetizers. A big wow to both and the chipotle Mayo for the hushpuppies was wonderful - not to spicy, just a flavorful accompaniment. We then had the 1/2 & 1/2 baskets - 2 very large pieces of grouper (a big favorite of mine) with the French fries (aka chips) that came with 4 large shrimp. Initially, we ordered the shrimp and grouper separately but our very honest waitress mentioned the 1/2 & 1/2 basket and pointed out the cost savings. Now that is excellent service. Speaking of the service, our water and soda cups were keep filled throughout our visit. We topped off the visit with 2 key lime pies. Both the pie and the whipped cream were homemade. I thought my son was going to lick the plate. When I found this place, I was pleased that it was just a few miles from our hotel, but I would have gladly traveled an hour for outstanding food and service such as we had tonight.
