We are from New England and we heard about this place while visiting our dad in Naples. The original is based in Rhode Island where we used to spend our summers. There is plenty of outside seating and about 8 tables inside. You order and pickup at the same window. It feels like a seafood place/shack that would be beachside back in New England. We ordered the "clam chowda cup" (say it out loud). You can order two versions: creamy or classic clear. We opted for the creamy. It was the right choice. The soup had a decent amount of clams. It was not overwhelmed by potatoes; which often happens to "chowdas". "Jo not Flo" was very pleasant and helpful as we were deciding our order. We got there just in time as several groups came in behind us. We ordered clam strips to share. The batter was light and flavorful. In hindsight we wished we had gotten the whole belly clams to try. We read a few reviews that loved the burger so we ordered a kid burger to share. We were not that excited about it. The main reason was that it was overcooked. We ordered two Narragansett (RI) beers on tap which also made it feel like we were at a beach side seafood shack. There were many things on the menu. It seemed to have something for everyone. We enjoyed it and would go back if we lived here. I guess it will have to be when we come back to visit. :)

Stopped at Flo's on a weeknight for dinner. It's a no frills little roadside seafood place with counter service. I had a cup of the white chowda to start. It was ok but had a thin watery broth. Not exactly a NE clam chowder. I had a small order of fried clam strips, which ended up being a pretty large plate. They were also ok-ish, fairly greasy and not very flavorful. Unfortunately a pretty underwhelming experience at Flo's.

I asked for a 'real Florida fried fish shack' and this is certainly it! You walk up outside to order from the friendliest woman I've met here. Then go inside to pick up your food and sit. We had fried clams, clam cakes and chowder. All delicious, fresh and well prepared. The place is cute, decorated with magazine covers and old signs.

Flo's is an unassuming fried seafood spot off the road with a small footprint but a big punch. The inside walls are lined with pictures and memorabilia from Rhode Island and the regulars are excited to be here. I wanted to order the fried clams when I heard that was the specialty but sadly they were out. We saw some other people come in after we had ordered and also asked for the same thing and left visibly upset when they heard the news. I thought it was pretty funny and a testament to how good those clams probably are. The staff was nice, but you receive a beeper and retrieve the food yourself. Do not expect table service. We ordered the fried oysters and two cheeseburgers, and they were both delicious. The cheeseburgers were extremely underrated and may have even been better than the fried oysters. Fried oysters can be very hit or miss, but these were a hit. We were so full and satisfied, when we were done we rolled out of there on our sides with wide smiles.

On a hot Sunday afternoon we passed a nondescript restaurant, with a bunch of people spilling out the door. My interest was piqued. A quick google search brought me to Flo's Clam Shack, an iconic seafood stop in Middletown RI. The business has been going strong since the 1930s. The outpost in Naples, is new. The beauty of retirement, in my husband's case semi-retirement, is that our time is our own. So we headed out mid-afternoon Tuesday, avoiding the weekend crowds, to see what the hoopla's about. Not sure how to proceed -- obviously, we had to get clams -- we ordered two platters. $29.95 for fried belly clams, $19.95 for clam strips. The belly clams reminded us of oysters, with soft insides. We preferred the strips. (For those of us who remember Howard Johnson's clam strips from the 1970s, Flo's are infinitely better!) T ordered a cup of creamy "chowda" (as they call it.) The broth had a distinct fishy taste -- obviously the clams -- and it wasn't particularly creamy. I warned him, based on fellow Yelpers' assessments, that there would be too many potatoes. T didn't care. He enjoyed the soup. Note to self: next time -- and there will be a next time -- we'll share one platter of clam strips (who needs all those fries?!) an order of calamari, plus my husband's chowder. My parting suggestion: if you get a fried platter, plan to eat in the restaurant when the food is hot and crisp, straight from the fryer. Unless you live seconds away, takeout isn't likely to be as good.

    Another fabulous meal.

The meal was amazing and at a fraction of the price you would pay just up the road on 5th Avenue. I am a retired ship captain, but I began my career working on fishing boats out of southern New England, so I know a thing or two about fresh seafood. Flo's Clam Shack has the best seafood that I have ever had. I had the Rhode Island Clam Chowder (made with a clam broth base, but no added cream) and the Fish and Chips. Both were amazing. Others in our group had the regular chowder (with the added cream), fried clams, and fried scallops. The kids had hamburgers. We also had a couple of orders of the Greek salad, which we shared since it was so big. Everyone was astounded at the quality of the seafood and how well it tasted. The staff was great. There is plenty of parking. On weekends, you can park in the lot next door. Overall, Will, the owner, came out and greeted us. It turns out that he has worked his way up from busboy to cook to general manager of the original two Flo's Clam Shacks in Rhode Island.

Fisherman's platter, clams, clam strips, scallops, shrimp, calamari and fish filet! Delish! The fish was tender and flaky and perfect!

Saturday afternoon lunch date! The minute we walked in we got 5 star service from the lady at the counter. We were a little indecisive and decided to share a platter and she right away offered to throw in an extra coleslaw and an extra clam cake so we could each have one. When I told her we didn't need the extra clam cake because I wasn't keen on those, she instead threw in a cup of clam chowder instead! And then on top of it all when the meal came we got two clam cakes anyway! She was a true Gem and I wanted to take her home and keep her! (In a good way people, not as a captive!). Now for the food! Clam chowder was great. Full Of potatoes and a hint of lemon I think. I enjoyed it. Hubby got a lobster roll with butter. I don't usually like those but I'm telling you, this was amazing! No mayo, just lobster and butter on a toasted roll! They did not skimp! Which is good cuz it's not a cheap place. We also shared the fisherman's platter which contained fried clams, clam strips, shrimp, calamari, scallops And a piece of fish! The batter was light and delicious! Would not be good for takeout unless you plan to eat it in the car immediately, so just plan to eat there! Two people Can share the platter easily which the counter lady warned us was the case but it was our first time there. I recommend checking it out! Small Place, counter service! Outdoor seating available. Soda is canned so no refills. No bar but they have beer and wine. There is a kids menu and they have a few sandwich options for non seafood lovers. Burgers and dogs available.

After a long day of fishing with the Grands (For you that don't know slang that's Grandkids) It was a really cool place and the ppl were extremely friendly. The food was really good my granddaughter got chicken fingers and she gave it two thumbs up and the boy got fish and chips which was outta left field he usually sticks to Hot Dogs but the pictures on the wall got him thinking and he pulled the switch up he gave it two thumbs up . I had the fish and chips I as well gave it two thumbs up. All in all good food

A Hidden Gem in Downtown Naples -- Don't Sleep on This Place!…read more I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and the place was buzzing -- the outside patio was at full capacity. I asked for a seat at the bar, and even though space is very limited, the staff went above and beyond to find me one. That kind of effort on a packed afternoon says a lot about this team. The bartender was phenomenal -- attentive, warm, and somehow managed to make every single person at that busy bar feel like they were the only guest in the restaurant. The whole staff carried that same energy. They were also wonderfully descriptive about the daily specials and menu offerings, which made ordering a pleasure rather than a guessing game. I decided to try the crab cake, and I'm so glad I did. I grew up on the East Coast eating crab, and I've had my fair share -- I've long held that Phillips in Maryland made the gold standard. I am happy to report that Captain & Crew has dethroned them in my book. This crab cake was pure lump crab meat, not overpowered by fillers or seasoning. You could actually taste the crab. The accompaniments they served alongside it elevated the whole dish even further. Thoroughly impressed. The wine pairings were equally well-curated. I took the staff's recommendations and they absolutely nailed it. A heads-up for first-timers: parking is the one small challenge. There's no convenient lot right there, so you may need to use a parking garage and walk over. Honestly? Embrace it. If you're already in Downtown Naples, it's a beautiful stroll that perfectly sets the mood before you arrive. Captain & Crew is a true hidden gem. Many people come for the fresh seafood market, but don't overlook the restaurant side -- it's absolutely worth your time. Highly recommend.

After sitting down, we started reviewing the menu and saw so many interesting items that it was difficult to choose. Fortunately, our server noticed we were struggling and she offered to help navigate us through our meal. Our goal was to sample a variety of options, but not to over order. And we accomplished just that! We started with some Stone Crabs, then some Peel & Eat Shrimp, then my wife and I shared an entree of Blackened Grouper with sides of fries and coleslaw, where we also added a few scallops. Delicious! We thought we were done, but our server informed us of the excellent Key Lime pie. We had room to share one slice, and we are so happy we did! It was excellent. Sat inside people and car watching. Cars were by far more eye-catching than women. Ferraris, Lambo, Aston Martin, Bugatti, real lookers. Friend showed up on time. Hot bread arrived. Plenty of good olive oil on table. He had tri-colored salad and I had seafood salad. Not a trace left of either although mine could have had less creamy lemon vinaigrette dressing. Word to wise, perhaps ask for it on the side. He had veal shank with risotto. Me? I had the corvina stew. Ask for a spoon, it's that good. Ordered sautéed spinach and roasted potatoes with herbs. Only thing left was a few grains of risotto and 7 small pieces of the potatoes. The shank was arguably the biggest portion I've seen. Since it was my birthday we were comped a dessert, double espresso and a cappuccino. Plus the dessert had a lit candle along with a table side a cappella Happy Birthday. I…read moreshould've been leery to begin with, as we were able to get a table for six with less than 24 hours notice, at 6 PM. This does not happen during spring break in Naples at a good restaurant. Let's start with the atmosphere: this is not a fine dining establishment, especially when you compare it to everything else you get to experience on 5th. Some of the most upscale and beautifully adorned restaurants and businesses call this street home, but we chose Pescheria for a moderately priced meal, which is not what we ended up having. It's not a terrible atmosphere, but it's certainly casual. My whole group was very disappointed to learn that this restaurant only serves beer and wine, which further entrenched our belief that we were at a casual, affordable establishment; frankly this should've been the red flag to go elsewhere, but it's pretty slim-pickins around the dinner hour last minute in Naples, so we stuck it out based on the great reviews. The bread service is good, but don't bother asking for butter, they said they have some but never brought it to the table. They do have a great wine list, especially if you like Italian reds; definitely the best part of the experience. Our group ordered two of the Dover Sole special, a pasta dish, and a grilled branzino. I'm partial to both of the fish; some of the branzinos and soles I've had have been memorable and delicious, so I do tend to seek them out. If you also love branzino, you probably know that $50 is on the high end of what you would generally pay, and Dover sole might get you up to 60. If you eat in restaurants, you also know that it's common practice for servers to tell you the prices before you order, so you don't have to embarrass yourself by asking for the price of a dish you want and then denying yourself because of the price. Here, they don't tell you the price, and if you're an idiot like me you'll just go ahead and order it assuming it's reasonable like the rest of the menu. My branzino was $70, and the Dover sole was $75, and frankly I wouldn't have ordered them at all, let alone paid a fortune for them after I tasted each of these dishes. Branzino was cooked nicely and deboned well at the table, but that's pretty much it. The fish had zero flavor whatsoever. The Dover sole had flavor, but it wasn't a good flavor. It was fishy. And when we told the staff that the fish was fishy-tasting, they argued with us incessantly even though we told them we're not asking for a discount, we are simply letting them know so they pay attention for the next diners, but that wasn't good enough for them. They continued to argue with us before we finally told them to walk away and leave us alone. So in hindsight, there isn't a thing that would bring me back, not the atmosphere, frankly not even the wine list (it's Naples, throw a rock in any direction and you'll break a great bottle of wine); not the service, not the price, not the cocktails, not the food. And if none of those check the boxes, somebody please tell me what the appeal is, because I'm not seeing it. Don't worry though, if you don't like your meal you'll be gaslit into thinking it's fabulous because the server can show you pictures of himself fishing (I'm not making this up).
