I booked the move online completely and our move date was November 1st. We had three movers Quan, Robbie, and Cesar. They showed up on time, were extra careful with everything, worked quickly, and were extremely kind and respectful to us and any request we had. We have used other, and less expensive, movers in the past and I'll just say, you get what you pay for. In prior moves, something always was damaged or took too long or they weren't able to do or just flat out said they wouldn't do. This was not the case with Groovy Movers. They took care of absolutely everything and were happy to do so. We certainly hope that we don't have to move again very soon, but they are at the top of the list when we do. These guys were AWESOME. I had accumulated a ton of stuff over the years (enough to fill 2 uhauls and 2 storage units apparently...). They came on time, had a GREAT attitude, and got the move done. The crew was funny as hell, and all around good guys. Everything got moved... even my 200 pound, evil, MMA punching dummy. Would highly recommend. NOTE: book them directly. I didn't like the tacky 3rd party booking company on the phone. This company is unresponsive. I was able to "book" an appointment time on Groovy Movers' website but they didn't follow up to ask for a quote, confirm pricing or the time. I needed a last minute turnaround time so I found another mover in Austin that gave me a quote and booking within 5 hours. When I filled out a contact form to cancel with Groovy Movers they never responded to that either. Moving is a time sensitive issue with a lot of logistics and it is extremely unprofessional to not respond to customer requests. read more

Great company! We moved on the 26th of December and it was difficult getting a company to move on this day, but Groovy movers moved us. I was very impressed with the two young gentlemen. They arrived on time and they are two great strong young men that used their time wisely and effectively. Dominque and Xavier, thank you for providing great work, you both were very efficient and very conscientious in taking care of our things. This is a follow up to my previous review as WARNING TO ANYONE CONSIDERING GROOVY! Wow how far the owner is willing to go to save the face of his business. I treated the movers with the utmost respect, buying them dinner, they agreed their boss and the company didn't have together. Furthermore they wrote my card number on a piece of paper and never processed anything so my bank advised me to shut it down. When I called the front desk asking for the manager to call me, his words were "my hands are tied and even cussed at me before finally having the owner call me. I replied to the bosses email wanting to settle on payment and heard nothing back. Now I'm being accused for extortion? Well for all those looking for movers, let this be a warning and a reflection on the reputation of this business. And I did request 3 people, funny how he couldn't find the recording of the call. Movers showed up in an unmarked truck without any marked shirts, shady? I think so! So tell me if 11 hours on a one bed room with a washer/dryer is normal? Perhaps they took naps in between breaking half of my stuff, not even able to hook up a washer dryer correctly. read more

I used this service last year because someone recommended them. They knew the owner and everything went perfectly fine. Guys showed up, moved my stuff, no issues. I scheduled an appt. this year and apparently between the time I booked and now the company is out of business? It's 2020, so hardly the worst thing going on, but I definitely would have appreciated a call or a response to my recent inquiries trying to figure out what was going on with my appt. Also, nothing prevents you from booking online and receiving a confirmation, so they need to fix that. At least you don't have to put in credit card information, so no worries about being charged. read more

I had a confirmed appointment for Saturday at 9am. The owner (Jed) is who I was communicating with, and a few days before the confirmed move, he stopped responding and they never showed up to move us. He was even messaged on Instagram and he read it and still didn't respond. There were good reviews on here and the BBB so i assumed he was just busy and would still send a team out, since the appointment was confirmed - but no one showed up. We tried calling the number but it was now out of business - super sketchy. Uhaul was sold out of trucks so we had to last minute call a ton of friends to help us move the smaller stuff, and last minute find movers for several days (they were all booked) to be out of our house within days, spending so much more $ last minute in a time where we are paying utility and house deposits. Incredibly unprofessional and would never suggest Groovy Movers to anyone. read more

AVOID! The movers broke my tv and damaged my furniture when they moved me. I called Jed and he told me he would send me financial reimbursement for what was damaged (we settled on a number). Weeks go by and I haven't received anything. I called GroovyMovers over 30 times and Jed was "out of the office" or "he will call you back." I eventually got ahold of him (called from a different phone) and told me he was sending the check out that week. This was months ago. Nothing. So if you want your stuff to be damaged and then have a really flakey owner/manager handle your claim, be my guest. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. read more

I really wanted to be able to give these guys a great review but unfortunately, I cannot. Let's start with the good things. They were super friendly, enthusiastic to help, and showed up on time which is a HUGE bonus when it comes to movers. Unfortulately, they were not very efficient with the move which caused this to be the most time consuming and the most expensive move I have ever done. I didn't realize at first but they actually brought all of my things outside of the apartment and stacked them all up, then when everything was out they started to load the items into the truck. Meaning it took twice as long because they essentially moved all of my things twice. I move about once a year with roughly the same items from place to place. A one bedroom apartment move should be able to be completed in 2 hours. They took almost 4!!! Also, I'm pretty sure they started the clock as they were driving to my place when it is not supposed to start until they pick up the first item. Lastly, they broke the leg off of my dresser when they were moving it and then proceeded to prop it up on the broken leg and move on as if nothing happened. This was the most frustrating to me. I'm pretty sure I signed a paper that said they were not responsible for damaged items (from a previous review it looks like they do not carry liability insurance) So at the very least they could have been less shady about a damaged item. I had to go back and ask them to lay the dresser down on its back so that it is not further damaged by standing on a broken leg. Overall this move cost me: $427 (original estimate was $280) 4 hours of moving with them 9 additional hours of moving all of the things that I told them to leave behind because we were already so far over time. This ass hole of a company will completely screw you over, THE DAY, of your move! I scheduled with Groovy Movers on 8/22/19 for an 8/30/19 move day. The person I scheduled with, Jabe, who at the time was an employee helped me confirm my appointment. Turns out he was fired and never let Groovy Movers know of my appointment supposedly. Luckily I called the day before my move 8/29/2019 to ask some general questions just to be told by the receptionist, Susan, that I am not on their schedule! Freaked out I asked her what my options are because it's almost impossible to find movers in such a short notice. She then told me it is not her fault or the company's fault that a now ex-employee screwed something up... Seriously? Anyway she told me she will call the owner and work something out for me. Susan then told me she can get some people out to help me the day of my move but it would be between the hours of 12-3pm. Although this was extremely inconvenient since my original time was 9 am for a specific reason, I took it out of being desperate for the help. The day of the move is here and I started to follow up with Susan because she will not call me with any updates for some reason. She told me two different team leads were coming and that they may run a little over, but will for sure be coming later in the day. I moved as much as I physically could so I wouldn't be sitting on my ass waiting and doing nothing because I am on a time crunch! At 5:38 pm I texted their company phone that Susan and I were using to text and correspond all day about the ETA. She became completely unresponsive and she ghosted me! I started calling her and no answer when their site clearly states they are open until 8 pm! I don't think they quite understand the level of inconvenience, unprofessionalism, and just bad business this whole ordeal was!! To completely ghost someone that you are providing a service to is absolutely unacceptable! The least you could of done was told me that you were overbooked and were not going to show up!!!! This caused me to be up until 3 a.m. trying to move things with some friends that so graciously spent their Friday night doing so. read more

Groovy Movers really are groovy. The staff was super professional and friendly. They were going to be about 5 minutes late due to Lakeway traffic and called to give us a heads up on their way over. They moved my mom from a small place in in Lakeway to one in south Austin in 2 hours. And, 30 minutes of the move was transit!! They had everything wrapped in moving blankets and shrink wrap and were very careful with everything. They even dismantled what needed to be and reassembled it later. We had them scheduled and the day before they tried to switch days. I witnessed the mover drop a box off the truck and he did not tell me until I asked him about it. They tried to charge me extra at the end and I told them the schedule person (Susan) did not inform me of these extra charges. We had other problems, but my advice is to not to use them. They were slow and not very experienced. read more

I didn't use them. Guess they were offended. I received a random phone call asking if I needed help moving. I had somehow ended up on a list to get quotes to move, which is fine, however, these guys call me a week later asking if I still needed help. I very politely said, no thank you I found someone. The guy responds back "Oh 2 Men and a truck at 139 an hr" laughed, and hung up. Not sure why he assumed that company, as he is incorrect, but I found this to be very unprofessional. In the event the company I did select is unable to help, I will also not be calling these people to help me. read more

The story of my experience with Jed Bricker. Jed came out to my home to do a free in home estimate, he estimate that our full service inter-state move would be $2900. I told Jed that our dates were not locked in yet but was thinking late June to early July, and he was understanding of that. I had him send me his information and noticed he was missing inter-state insurance and that the verbiage on his contract for a full service move stated Groovy Movers LLC was not liable for any damages during move, keeping mind that this was a disassemble/pack/load/transport/unload/unpack/reasessemble service so I felt responsibility should not fall on me for any part of the move. Move forward a little bit(about a month) and I get a move date locked in, now mid August. I call up Jed to to get that insurance information and the contract finally updated. Strangely Jed was not available. I left him voicemails, sent him texts and emails and Facebook messages and nothing. I tried calling from an alternative phone number and suddenly Jed answered. He told me he was trying to crunch some numbers and would get back to me as soon as he could. Another few days went by and no word, tried calling him back and no answer again. Had my wife call him and suddenly he's available again, he told my wife that he was still crunching numbers. I called Jed back and magically got voicemail and told him that I was tired of being ghosted and that we would not be doing business. Jed texted me a long apology and I thought "let's see what he has to say" so I called him back. He stated he wasn't avoiding/screening my calls(lie) but he had purposefully not reached out to me because he thought his quote would be $200 more than originally planned and that he was hoping that things would fall in line prior to needing to call me back. I told him I didn't care about $200 and thought "let's give this dude a last chance to redeem himself" and said if you get me the insurance information and updated contract we can be in business. Next day rolls around and I get his insurance information (kind of) and he agrees to and updated contract verbiage. I print/sign/scan my side to him and ask him to do the same for my files. He calls me that night and he asks me "Why did you choose Groovy Movers? Why use us after what happened the first time?" my response was simply "What is the point of this call? Are you not able to perform the move?" He told me he was not able to perform the move but was willing to compensate me for my time and lost trust, essentially redemption. He told me that it would be easier and cheaper to pay another mover to move me instead of me paying him to do the job himself. I told him that was a ridiculous thing for me to expect and for him to offer. He asked me how he could make things right between us. I told him that it was hard thing to do, to put a price on redemption or forgiveness, but he persisted. I told him the only thing that would make sense, in any way, was for him to pay the difference between his price and another company's. He agreed (lie). I told him I didn't believe he would uphold his side based on my experience with him but he insisted(lie). I got offers, from freight movers and a service from a mover like him (full service, unshared truck, etc) that he personally recommended. They quoted me their price, ~$7k. I knew Jed would fail again, but what option did I have? Jed had strung me along for months already and bailed, I was in my worst case scenario already. I accepted their offer and reached out to Jed to see if he'd uphold his offer. He told me he couldn't afford to. I had told him before he couldn't, but he'd insisted. He then said he was thinking more like $150. $150. That's less money then what he lied and said he was too scared to talk to me about and had been screening my calls over. This was his new offer. He told me it was the best he could do. $150 for what he considered his redemption, his apology, his acknowledgement. That's what screwing someone over 3 times meant to him. That was his worth. He'd offered, not me. I'd asked for nothing. I told him it was ridiculous to offer. He insisted. He lied. Gamble all you want, but that's my story. They are NOT authorized to be driving for moves (check txdmv.gov) and when I asked if they were bonded and insured, they said yes and sent me a blurry photo of an insurance certificate. When I asked them to email it and told them what I read on the dmv, they said they wouldn't be able to move me the day before I was scheduled. read more

The only reason I can giving this company 3 stars is because Jed was so pleasant on the phone when scheduling my move during this very stressful time. I cannot say the same for the movers that came to help me. They were okay at first but when they were supposed to meet me at my storage unit 7 minutes away, which I helped him put in his GPS and saw it came up at the right location. They called me and said they were at a 7/11 (right next to the storage unit) and they were lost. Somehow it took them 50 minutes to get to the storage unit. I wouldn't be upset but they still changed me for the time they got "lost" which is very unprofessional. I am almost positive they took a lunch break during that time. I move often and always tip generously but for the first time, I decided not to. I've been in the customer service industry for a long time and I know how hard it can be but I also expect good service for how much I am paying. read more
