Loved it here! I stopped in to see my friend's show. It was on a week night and it wasn't too crowded. We ordered pina coladas and truffle fries while we were here. I highly recommend both of these options. The acoustics inside were great. Even though it's a smaller space, it's a great place to see/hear a show. No matter where you sit, you'd have a great view. We sat at a high top and had a great view of the stage; I can't wait to come back here to hear more great music.

It seems like most people end up here while waiting for their show at Comedy Central (as we were as well). Inside is a dark and moody space with live performances. We sat at the bar and had a drink or two. They do offer some great happy hour deals though, but I had a Spicy Margarita ($17), which tasted more sour than spicy to me. The fiance also had a Jack and Coke ($16), which is definitely pricey. My suggestion is to stick to the happy hour menu.

Saw a show here recently - sound quality was good, though the setup of the space was primarily tables making it a little difficult to dance to the music (I assumed it was more GA standing, that's probably on me for not doing my research). Got a few bottled beers since the tables have a 2 drink minimum, they both tasted a little old. Fine enough venue and I'd come for an artist I really like, but not necessarily to catch a random band like I recently did.

Came for a Happy Hour bite; stayed for the band. We got Beef and Chicken Tacos, Ceasar Salad, Margarita and Apple Martini. The tacos were packed full of protien and simple yet the seasoning was delicious. It was a yummy bite. The drinks were strong and refreshing and we received great service. The early band was great. A little old school R&B to set the night!

I had a great time here! We only stopped in for a short visit, which is the only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five. We didn't get a chance to stay for the live music, but based on the vibe, I'm sure it wouldn't disappoint. I ordered a mango martini, and it did not disappoint--highly recommend it! The music playing while we were there was solid, and the staff was super friendly and welcoming. We spent $32.22 total for a beer and a martini, which felt reasonable for the area. Definitely a spot I'd come back to and stay longer next time.

I didn't stay here long. Maybe 20 minutes while waiting for my door time at The Village Underground. I can't swear to the cover charge, but I feel like I gave them a 20 and got two fives back, so 10 dollars on a Tuesday night. Service was great, immediately greeted by the bartender. They were out of a lot of the drink ingredients and my drink, the pineapple ancho margarita, was pretty mid, but as I say again and again and again--if you're in a place like this, you aren't here for the cocktails. The night I went, the "most sampled bassist of all time" was the focus. At first I thought that meant the actual performer, but I think that probably actually means James Brown, and the band was playing James Brown riffs. The band was still awesome though! (even if the saxophone player kept checking her phone). I'm ok with misleading statements and mediocre cocktails because this bar has a dark, low-key vibe, and appears to have great shows. Upcoming shows include tributes to the ladies of Motown, Daria Jones (apparently her shows have no cover, but item minimums). They also have an upcoming Stevie Wonder birthday tribute and a funk night. One night they also had some reggae, they have soul and maybe some folk? Anyway . . . this isn't a fancy place with a fancy menu, but they seem to have a broad, and sometimes experimental, selection of music . . . and it's in the prime East/Greenwich Village area, so there are so many other things to see and do on a nice night.

AMY WINEHOUSE TRIBUTE NIGHT!?! EASY CALL! Happy 40th queen. Came here STRAIGHT from my 4th ever vocal lesson in which I was attempting to sing "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt. Turns out, that's a really tough song to sing ahahahaha but lowkey I was finding my rhythm by the end of the session, don't sleep. We arrived after paying $27 each for premium seats and were sat 2 tables away from the stage. The Amy Winehouse tribute singer was fantastic, but the real star of the show was Kiki who was doing it ALL. She was on the keys, saxophone, and flute and had the crowd eating out of the palm of her hand on some of those sax solos ahahaha. THE FANS ARE RESTLESS FOR MORE KIKI! It's a 2 item minimum, so we got some Mezcal Mules and 2 batches of french fries... 2 batches because my big homie said the first batch was too well done and he wanted them to be "softer." What an interesting fella. Overall, a great place to come and be inspired by some live music on Macdougal street. I mf LOVE Macdougal street, and will write some type of ode to it at some point, but today is not that day. THANK YOU GROOVE AND WHEN YOU'RE READY TO HAVE AN RHCP TRIBUTE NIGHT ME AND MY BAND ARE READY TO SELL THAT THANG OUT! IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

I needed to have my authentic NYC experience in a tight dark bar with live music and this place did not disappoint! The drinks were decent and not too shabby on the expected price point. We had just had dinner so we didn't have any food but from what we could tell it looked standard but delicious! Let's get into the vibe though... The vibe was top notch for that true NYC feel! The band was so amazing, they even touch us to church for the one two! I will definitely keep this place and that band on my radar for the next time I'm in NYC! Happy Eating (and drinking), NYC!

Followed the band here from Cafe Wha last night and had a blast! There's a roped off section at the front near the stage (assuming you pay extra/reserve early for that) but the rest of the bar can also enjoy the free music. Great service as well. Yummy aperol spritz pictured below

A good place to hang out anytime of the week. They have a band playing once every 2-3 hrs. The best part is, compared to other jazz venues, there is no entry fee. The cocktails are exorbitantly priced anyways. They are 18$. The ambience is cool and the bands add on to the beauty. I'm a regular here!

I had an amazing time at Groove! I've now been here twice. The musicians are so talented and are so great at creating an amazing atmosphere with their music. A few notes about the space. You can make a reservation and this is the best so you can get a table. If you don't make a reservation you can walk in and stand in the back and at the bar. There is no cover but you do need to buy two items per person and they include gratuity. Regardless of how the managers have chosen to operate the place, the music is great! You can get close to the musicians and they can see you as they play, which is great because you guys feed off one another! I went for a jazz and blues night and loved the band! They have pretty good food and a lot of drink options too! You can definitely come here for dinner or just a snack and drinks. Highly recommend!

Nice bar with live music. Visited casually while we were on MacDougal. Best part is there was no cover charges for this bar. Ordered brooklyn lager and groove colada. The beer but I highly doubt if the colada even had a bit of rum because it was too sweet and I did not quite feel tipsy after two drinks too. I could have simply ordered any virgin drink. Live music was actually good. The band for 5 and 7 pm did not show up but the 9 pm one made it for all. Loved the vibe. They played tradition jazz music which set the bar on fire. Service was good as well as the waitress kept checking on us once in a while.

We wanted to have after-dinner cocktails in a chill space, so we searched on our phones & saw Paradise Lost address via Google. We proceeded to walk down & was unable to find the establishment due to their being no front sign. After walking back & forth a few times, we saw another group walking towards the door & they confirmed the place. We walked inside the front door pressed a "doorbell" & lo & behold we gained entry after the previous group went inside. Definitely an incognito entrance. Once inside that door there is someone to greet you, & take your information. There is a forest/ grass/ jungle-looking foyer/ hallway we walked down to get to the next door. Before we knew it, we were near the "Paradise Lost No Vacancy" neon sign w/ an arrow pointing towards the snake-shaped knob door. It gets opened & a supercool speakeasy awaits.... Paradise Lost has mixed style table / seating arrangements throughout the place. A bar seating section, booth-style seating area, lounge- style seating area, etc. We got there a little after 7pm, so the afterwork crowd was in full swing. Paradise Lost has interesting atmosphere. At times a Gothic / Medieval Vibe, meets place w/ shipwreck decor, meets eleganct /club vibe w/ beautiful ceiling lighting, etc. Music played in the background. Staff are friendly, energetic, & attentive. We were pleasantly overwhelmed w/ the vast selection of tiki cocktails that were on the menu. Paradise Lost also have an intimate selection of snacks/ food menu items. This included Popcorn, Tater Tots, Devilled Eggs Rangoon Dip, etc. We ordered some cocktails served in unique tiki mugs & a bucket of popcorn to munch on w/ our drinks. The popcorn is flavored w/ Sea Buckthorn & Browm Butter, which gave it an special flavor profile. Our cocktails were well-prepared & nice & strong. Paradise Lost has individual unisex bathroom stalls & a communal vanity & sink area. The bathroom stalls have spooky voices coming from a speaker as you use the bathroom. I was so humorously taken aback, it had me laughing when I came out...Definitely a different thing to experience in the bathroom - lol. Before we left we watched one of the bartenders do a cocktail "fire" presentation for some patrons in a booth seated area. Wow.... Paradise Lost accepts walk-ins only, no reservations. Paradise Lost accepts groups of 8 or less, unless you are requesting to book the space for a private event. Ages 21+ paradiselost.nyc @paradiselostnyc Paradise Lost is open everyday - 5pm-2am.

I wanted to treat an old friend to a quick birthday toast before a show she was attending nearby. Later that night, another friend became available to join but, because they do not actually have a phone that takes calls (only offers an announcement to go to Resy or email) adding another person was not at all easy. I would have had to cancel and rebook and wasn't sure I'd be able to (reservation was for a Saturday night) In most places, a table for 3 easily accommodates 4. But not here. When two of us arrived, they made it clear this was a big problem. I would have walked out right then but I would have been charged $90! We decided to stay and make the best of it, which was a challenge. For a speakeasy, the vibe was aggressive, not relaxing. Very loud music and not great acoustics.) Too cramped to be comfortable, proving that small does not necessarily mean cozy! We asked if we could take a chair from the table next to us, which was empty (it was only 6 pm; I told our server we'd be gone by 7 because my friend, the birthday girl, had to catch a show.) We were told No! To say the waiter was cold, unfriendly, and indifferent is generous. He was totally rude. He literally told my friend she couldn't sit in a chair that was otherwise empty, knowing we'd be leaving momentarily. Then he had the gail to hand me the bill with a 22% tip pre-selected...and watched over me while I signed it! Definitely the least satisfying $100 I have ever spent. Disappointing. It was good to see my friends, but I so wish I hadn't picked this place. Never again.
