After getting a very high quote from a major plumbing chain, we decided to contact Water Heater…read moreMasters. We had an absolutely fantastic experience with Water Heater Masters. Alex sent our technician, Rojo, who helped install a new 40-gallon gas water heater in our indoor utility closet, and he was incredibly diligent, professional, and efficient from start to finish. Installing a tank in an inside closet can be tricky, but Rojo handled the entire job seamlessly in just 2 hours. He replaced everything with high-quality components, including: * New hot and cold water flex lines * A brand new water shut-off valve * A new gas flex line and sediment trap * Fully reworked earthquake straps (to meet California safety codes) * Properly updated T&P line and venting He also took care of the removal and disposal of our heavy 18 yr old tank, leaving the utility closet completely clean. If you want fair pricing, expert specialized service, and a technician who respects your time and home, call Water Heater Masters and ask for Rojo. Highly recommended!

We were replacing a gas water heater with a hybrid electric heat pump water heater. Generally, this…read moretype of heater costs twice as much (price and installation) as a traditional electric water heater, but costs a lot less to run (and therefore you recoup the additional cost in a few years from lower operating costs). I had a very easy experience getting an on-site quote. I received 3 quotes for this job. 2 quotes, including this one, came in around $7100. I went with a third one at around $6700 (which included an additional mixing valve) and am very happy with my decision. Overall price was not a big part of my decision, but brand of water heater was. After doing some research online, the most recommended brands are AO Smith and Rheem (GE). Both higher quotes were for Navien, which has only been making heat pump water heaters for 1 year, but I was told that it is the most reliable brand. I did not understand how this claim could be made, given how short the duration of evaluation for this product. Even the worst appliances usually work for at least a year. So I requested a quote for AO Smith or Rheem, which I did not get. I'm not sure why my brand request was not honored, but it made me question whether I should go with a company that either has communication issues or maybe some type of deal with Navien that I was not informed about. Many water heater installers are preferred installers of certain brands, which means they can get better pricing, etc. I did not want to be a guinea pig for Navien.

We evaluated around 6-7 companies, and off the recommendation of a neighbor we had Letts come out. I was a bit hesitant because you are charged for a minimum of an hour, there is no free estimate. However, in that time he shored up a leak with a temporary patch and had an estimate of how much work it would be to take care of everything, which ended up being much more reasonable than some other places we evaluated. Adam came back when he had enough open schedule to fix everything and some parts were shipped in. An incredibly nice guy, and just an incredibly fair and integrity oriented operation. All the vendors I evaluated were five stars with many reviews, but Letts was the only one that didn't feel like I was being upsold and he was just out there to help me solve my problems. Honestly can't wait to hire them again, which is an absurd thing to say about a plumber, but man what a great experience. I will rave about them to anyone who will listen.

They most recently removed an old water softener and installed new copper piping where the softener connections were. Oddly, the tech charged us for new copper while keeping the copper sections he removed, saying he was adding it to their collection. I get not being able to reuse the sections connected to the old valves but there was some that could have been reused, or left for our recycling. Not a huge deal, just seemed odd that he mentioned keeping it for their future use. We'll still use Letts and recommend them to friends. They're very prompt. The work is done well. And the job sites are left clean.

As an MVP member, I requested an annual HVAC inspection. Jesse was very professional and…read moreknowledgeable, and found physical issues with the furnace. I was surprised as the unit is only 13 yr. old with no major previous concerns during past visits. It was recommended that the furnace be replaced either with a new ultra-low NOx unit or with a heat pump. I asked for further advice and a second "advisor" visit was scheduled the following week. I met with Bryan and after airing out my concerns with ultra-low NOx and with Bryan consulting with his office, he still recommended the ultra-low NOx unit. The price that I was quoted appeared to be very high so I did my research and asked another company for a blind apples-to-apples quote, which came in $4,000 cheaper. The other company also told me that Vacaville is still allowing for low NOx installations (for about the same price as ultra-low), which Service Champions did not know. Since I am a long-term customer with Service Champions and have had good experience with them, I asked them to match the other company quote, which they did and even beat their price by about $400. Not only that, Service Champions did some additional research and concluded that a low NOx furnace still is permitable for install in my city. I would have given them 5 stars but I believe they should have known that low NOx furnaces are still allowed in certain areas.

I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with Hometown Heating and Air Conditioning. My…read moreair conditioner was not cooling, although the fan was running, so I called their customer service to request a diagnostic report. I clearly stated that I needed a diagnosis and a report on the issue. The technician arrived the same day and initially seemed nice. However, he started asking personal questions which were unrelated to the job. During his diagnosis, he identified the problem as a faulty capacitor and replaced it, charging me $400 for the part. This price seemed excessive, especially since a relative of mine had a similar issue resolved for only $200. When I questioned the price, he insisted that the company charges $400 and refused to offer any discount. I also found that the same capacitor costs merely $20 on Amazon. When I declined to replace the capacitor at such a high cost and reminded him that I had only requested a diagnostic report, the technician became angry. He even threw an object in frustration, luckily he didnt throw it at me. I asked him to calm down and reminded that i would pay the $80 diagnostic fee, but he continued to murmur angrily and then put back the old capacitor, and left. After he left, I found that the thermostat, which was working before, no longer turns on. I also discovered that the circuit breaker panel was left open and disconnected. When I called customer support to have the technician return, they informed me that the technician was upset because I did not purchase the capacitor and would only come back if I agreed to pay for it. This response was unprofessional and unacceptable. The customer representative promised to send another technician the next day but also told me not to call their company for any future issues, which was very surprising and unprofessional. The next day, there was no follow-up call, and when I reached out again, the supervisor refused to send a technician unless I agreed to their repair terms at a hefty price. I was advised by the supervisor to handle the circuit breaker issue myself, which I reluctantly did, but the thermostat still did not work. The supervisor then stated it was not their problem and refused further assistance. Overall, this was a terrible experience with Hometown Heating and Air Conditioning. The technician's behavior was unprofessional, the customer service was unhelpful, and the supervisor was unsympathetic. I would not recommend this company to anyone due to their poor service and unprofessional conduct.

I highly recommend Water Heater Express and Robert, the owner! From our first phone conversation to…read morethe completion of the job, Robert was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely great to work with. I spoke with Robert about a week before he came out to replace our home's gas water heater. I had done my own research beforehand and was specifically interested in Bradford White because of its reputation for quality. Robert confirmed that it was one of the brands he uses, which gave me even more confidence in choosing him. He clearly knows his trade and took the time to explain the different types of water heaters and their quality. On the day of the installation, there was heavy traffic and accidents on I-80, but Robert kept us updated with courtesy calls and revised arrival estimates. I really appreciated his communication and consideration. What impressed me most was that Robert went above and beyond even after completing the installation. We needed PG&E to relight the pilot light for our floor heater, which is not a service he provides. Instead of simply leaving us to figure things out, he recommended contacting PG&E and even shared a helpful tip on how to get faster service. He then stayed and coordinated with the PG&E representatives to help ensure everything went smoothly before he left. That level of professionalism, patience, and genuine care for his customers really stood out to me. You can tell he takes pride in his work and wants to make sure his customers are taken care of. With approximately 30 years of experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the job. After researching different options and contacting other companies, I'm so glad we chose Water Heater Express. The quality of the product, the installation, and the overall customer service exceeded my expectations. If you're looking to replace or repair your water heater, I highly recommend giving Robert at Water Heater Express a call. You won't just be hiring someone to do a job; you'll be working with someone who genuinely cares about doing it right. Thank you, Robert, for the excellent service!
