We called Leapfrog after our water heater broke on an weekend evening in 2012. Leapfrog was one of the only providers that could visit the following day. They recommended a Noritz tankless model and had hot water up and running within hours. LeapFrog has done a superior job in maintaining the water heater including several subsequent service visits. And Leapfrog provides a free diagnosis unlike other providers who charge $150-250 just to visit. Unfortunately I cannot recommend the Noritz model because it requires expensive annual servicing to keep the warranty intact. Also if anything breaks the parts must be shipped from LA which means your hot water repair will be delayed. read more

Looking to install new washlets and replace the worn seals on my toilets. Leapfrog plumbing came to the rescue. I decided at the last minute to replace all the toilets instead. They were quickly able to accommodate. For the washlets they had an electrician come out the day before to install a plug and then Armando (a super pro) showed up the next morning ready for action. I was looking at toilets and saw some really nice ones but then decided to leave it to Mo. I'm so happy I did because he nailed it. Toto toilets are exceptional with strong flush and water that flows from the rim instead of the center. Complete game changer and the washlets are a dream with heated seats. Sadly Leapfrog has gone the way of abusive pricing and gouging. They came out to estimate a 40 gallon water install, the price including the 40 gallon natural gas heater, install, all parts, plus old heater haul away was $2950. This is gouging in the worst possible way! American Ace sold me the water heater and parts for $1000 out the door and they accept the old heater back to their recycling pile. The install by amateurs took about 4 hours without complications. Even if you figure a couple hour travel time plus a 2 hour install by pros, there is no possible way to justify a $2000 labor and overhead charge. Lowes out the door price was $2100, a 30% discount. I can not support over charging the public like this. How do ordinary people afford such an outrageous charge. How can legitimate plumbing companies sleep at night with such gouging! Unfortunately if you were to shop around the Lamorinda neighborhood you would find other over charging installers. Word travels fast and they all compare notes. The estimating tech made matters worse when he blamed California regs as the reason for such price inflation. This is not true. I bought a California compliant water heater and still this was only $1000 out the door, this does not justify the $3000 price tag. read more

I called two plumbers to bid on a small job at our home. We needed a quick connect for our generator to use during power outages. Leap Frog came and did the job for 1/3 of what Roto-Rooter wanted. The job was done fast, professionally and at a great price. He also made sure all our gas appliances (Water heater, stove, etc) had the pilot lights lit and tested before leaving. We used Leap Frog plumbing once before to re-install a gas line to our patio grill years ago. Again they did a great job at a very fair price. Several weeks ago what looked like sewage came up our shower drain. We made the routine calls that are required every 2 years (tree roots stick in our pipes) only this time, a new plumbing company showed up and quoted us MUCHOS dollars. This isn't our first rodeo so we called 3-4 more and the last appt was with LEAP FROG plumbing. A young man showed up, went down to our tiny crawl space where he spent what seemed like an appropriate amount of time to access properly what was happening. When he resurfaced and we were in the midst of apologizing for the feces that several companies had told us we had (including an Abatement company) he informed us that there were no feces down there only pipes that had not been installed properly in 2017 and old to new pipes. He informed us of the new MUCH LOWER price and exactly what time he would be done if he didn't need to snake the drain. We got lucky: No snaking but more importantly, we have a great plumber! Do yourself a favor, definitely do your research but be sure one of the plumbing contractors you call is Frog Leap. Cute truck logo too! read more

Id have to say I was a little disappointed with Leap Frog. My parents had a vanity that they needed to have removed and according to the HOA, only a licensed plumber could do it. I called Leap Frog and made an appointment. On the appointment day, the plumber called in sick. They had to reschedule the next day and gave me that dreaded window. Well guess what? After waiting the 3 hours , the plumber was late. He finally came an hour after the end of the window, The plumber was nice but did not apologize for the missed visit on the previous day, nor did he apologize for being a whole hour late. As it turns out, the plumber is the owner!! Anyhow, he quoted me $275 to disconnected the water lines and unscrew the drain pipe and $125 to haul away which equals $400 I know plumbing services are expensive but I thought this was excessive. Leapfrog came to my house to replace a disposal that was leaking water into the cabinet. Scheduling the appointment and they had several options I could choose from. I appreciated them being able to get me in quickly as the failing disposal rendered my kitchen sink inoperable. The technician that arrived was knowledgeable and installed the new disposal with minimal fuss and impact to the house. He was delayed about 90 minutes outside of the window, but sometimes life happens especially during the pandemic season. Leapfrog was the most expensive to those I bid out to by about $125. From what I could tell I got a premium garbage disposal, an appointment scheduled quickly, and a technician that did good work. I can't say if the other providers wouldn't have used a similar model or would've been equally as good but I've learned you do pay for quality. read more

I called LeapFrog a couple years back to handle a few plumbing tasks. We had an issue and the owner stood up, got the error fixed and then comp'd the bill. I was blown away by the business ethics and was committed to giving them our future plumbing business. With the recent rains our drains around the property were backing up and pooling. I called LeapFrog to water jet the lines. They were on site in an hour. Their tech was great and was up front with what they could and couldn't fix. Fortunately we got one of two lines opened and our lawn crew will be out tomorrow to handle the other. Great people that do great work. read more

BAIT & SWITCH APPOINTMENTS Don't count on them honoring their appointment with you. Someone else is always more important. They're quick to book you for the next day. They just will blow you off. Tried to hire them a year ago and they called last minute to say they were tied up at another job. LeapFrog plumbing has poor costumer service. One of their employees parked in a no parking zone in our complex which caused a problem with the garbage truck trying to pick up garbage. Needless to say, our garbage wasn't picked up. When asking the employee to park elsewhere, he got in his truck and started to drive off. Another neighbor came out whom didn't get his garbage picked up too and started to talk to him and a argument started. I called the company and tried to explain the situation but was put on hold. I called back because I wanted the company to take care of the situation so this doesn't happen again but the manager would interrupt as I was trying yo explain why the truck should not have been there in the first place. She started yelling so I just hung up. These work ethic are very poor and I will not be calling them for my plumbing. read more

On Sunday night we had a major plumbing problem on a condo we had just bought. The next morning, I called Leapfrog Plumbing and they sent over someone who gave me an estimate. I thought the number was high but I know that plumbers are expensive. The next morning someone from Leapfrog arrived on time. I show them the problem and they replaced the drain pipe. They then told me that the line was clogged and the garbage disposal was broken. He showed me how the disposal was leaking water from the bottom. I asked how much it would cost to replace the disposal ($589) and snake the drain ($289). That seemed very high so I said I would call around. I called another plumber who came out about an hour later. I showed him the leaky disposal and he said that it was leaking from where the drain is attached to the disposal. He tightened two bolts and the leaking stopped, he turned on the disposal and the drain ran clear. I hired leapfrog thinking that I would get a real plumber. Instead, they sent out an incompetent handyman who suggested I pay another $900 to fix a problem he created. If you call Leapfrog the only plumber you will me is the one doing the estimate. read more

We smelled gas right before vacation. Ended up with a gas leak under the house. PG&E says it's our responsibility to fix. Called Leapfrog & they fit us in, diagnosed the problem & provided a quote. We scheduled upon our return from vacation. Kevin & Josh did the work in one day. They showed up on time, cleaned up the mess, removed all scrap pipes etc. They were even kind enough to turn back on the gas to the house as PG&E had capped it and who knows when they would come back to turn it back on. Kevin & Josh were conscientious and told us what they were doing, when they left for lunch, apologized for the noise. They were nice guys & hard workers. Everything looks great and they finished that day as promised. We will use them for other plumbing needs (hopefully not too soon though). read more
