Went in for a catalytic converter issue to have them replaced when I got the truck back there was an air noise coming from underneath the passenger side, where the catalytic converters are. Went back to automotive two different times and they could not fix the problem.. This is on top of the fact after the first time I was there one of the mechanics backed my truck out of the garage and into a dumpster denting the back bumper. I dropped by for some help on a control arm issue on one of the e30's and he flat out told me in his own 'gentle' words that he didn't work on German cars. He was very emphatic and pretty rude to me about it. I get it, BMWs are a bit over engineered and complicated depending on what you're trying to work on. Control arms(specificity pressed in bushes) are not one of those overly engineered pieces, they are just like most other brands/cars. So again, he may be the nicest and most trustworthy mechanic around if you happen to drive anything but a German car. I now own a Honda or two and if it's something I can't fix on my own, I'd prolly go elsewhere because of my 1st and only interaction with them.

Erich took the time to listen to my nasty noises and troubleshoot with me at no profit to him. A few weeks later, my friend still couldn't get the tranny fixed and I decided it was time to take my car out of my friend's garage and in to Schmidt. Erich explained my problems and showed me the cause of the malfunction. Furthermore, he spent time with me and explained what I can do at home should the problem reoccur. This week, the culprit reared its head again. I tempted my hand at tending to the tranny, but was having trouble. I went to Erich and he gave me the tool I needed to finish the job! If you can find a mechanic that will show you what you need to do to maintain your tranny at home and then give you the tools to do it yourself, then I think you've found a winner. The garage appears well maintained. Schmidt is personable and professional. He made me feel respected (unlike those condescending mechanics). My "brakes" "traction control" & "ABS" lights were on! They told me it was not my ABS unit & told me $2,600 would fix the brakes & I thought "I'll keep the car" because that wasn't too much! Less than 12 hours after picking up the car all the lights were back as well as the grinding noise! They bled the brakes several times but again less than 24 hours the lights & grinding were back! Now they thought the ABS might be going bad??!! But they said the brakes were safe. After taking it back the 3rd time they said the accumulator was bad & it would be $3,500 to fix it! This was exactly the position I want ed to avoid! $6,100 and I shouldn't have kept the car! I was referred to the owner who I told this was exactly the "good money after bad" position I was trying to avoid! The extremely unprofessional owner hung up on me intentionally 3 times! I wasn't yelling (or screaming obscenities) like I wanted to but the owning said he wouldn't help at all & hung up on me! One of his other employees thought he would help too by the way! Maybe this place is good for oil changes or wider blade installations but anything more complicated than that you want to avoid wasting your time & money. My UNSAFE (verified by another better auto shop) Prius still has all the lights & the grinding noise it originally did! That supposed 36 month warranty didn't last even 36 hours!
