Went in for a catalytic converter issue to have them replaced when I got the truck back there was an air noise coming from underneath the passenger side, where the catalytic converters are. Went back to automotive two different times and they could not fix the problem.. This is on top of the fact after the first time I was there one of the mechanics backed my truck out of the garage and into a dumpster denting the back bumper. The owner after three times they could not fix the work that they did. that was $2800.

I went to the Brownies on 725 out by Miamisburg. I can honestly say that I got EXACTLY what I paid for. It just hurts to pay so much for it! But that is a reflection on my checkbook and not the service I received. The story is a familiar one...add a quart of fluid to the trannie...make the 3 mile run...add another quart...finish the trip. Yeah, it was that bad. The options presented to me were simple. Rebuild, new, or scrap...not a whole lot of in-between there. Not wanting a car payment at this point in my life, we went for the rebuild. Good points? I thought the folks were VERY upfront with me on what was coming. Words like "we might" and "maybe" were not bandied about. It was rather disconcerting to hear the ugly truth but....I knew exactly what I was in for. In fact, these guys called me twice just to keep me posted on work progress and readily worked with me on a pickup schedule. Bad points? Just didn't want to pay the bill...though they did offer some fairly generous payment terms that we did not avail ourselves of. That said, the car fairly hums along now! The Brownies gang did insist that I return in 2-4 weeks to confirm that everything was working correctly and no leaks, I haven't done that yet but expect no issues when I do. All in all, I feel respected as a customer...kind of odd in the car repair world.

I explained that my 2003 Subaru WRX sounded like there was an exhaust leak, and asked if they could take a look at it. There was no hesitation on their end - "bring it on in." Muffler Brothers made it quick, easy, and relatively painless. Once I got to their shop, there was no waiting. They had me pull my car up onto a lift, checked out my car, and found the source of the exhaust noise. It turns out that it was not a blown catalytic converter (as the tech had originally suspected). Instead, it was just a corroded exhaust pipe near the middle of my car. I deliberately chose Muffler Brothers rather than a "big name" shop, out of reluctance to pay "big name" overhead & prices. My trust was apparently well placed. They made NO attempt to "upsell" me, offering hundreds of dollars of unnecessary work. Instead, I had my car back in less than half an hour, having been charged exactly the estimated amount - about $60 for the repair. Very impressive. I'll be back.
