OK, where to go with this? I would have offered up all 5 stars but "somebody" has to take heat for…read moremy transmission failing! Dang! Sigh, I went back and changed it up to 5. I went to the Brownies on 725 out by Miamisburg. I can honestly say that I got EXACTLY what I paid for. It just hurts to pay so much for it! But that is a reflection on my checkbook and not the service I received. The story is a familiar one...add a quart of fluid to the trannie...make the 3 mile run...add another quart...finish the trip. Yeah, it was that bad. The options presented to me were simple. Rebuild, new, or scrap...not a whole lot of in-between there. Not wanting a car payment at this point in my life, we went for the rebuild. Good points? I thought the folks were VERY upfront with me on what was coming. Words like "we might" and "maybe" were not bandied about. It was rather disconcerting to hear the ugly truth but....I knew exactly what I was in for. In fact, these guys called me twice just to keep me posted on work progress and readily worked with me on a pickup schedule. Bad points? Just didn't want to pay the bill...though they did offer some fairly generous payment terms that we did not avail ourselves of. That said, the car fairly hums along now! The Brownies gang did insist that I return in 2-4 weeks to confirm that everything was working correctly and no leaks, I haven't done that yet but expect no issues when I do. All in all, I feel respected as a customer...kind of odd in the car repair world.

Ruined two of my cars…read more This shop is completely scandalous. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE THERE!!! These people were not even capable of jump starting my van. -Had to go to shop to teach them how to charge a battery. -They burned up starter in the process. -Vehicle with brand new tires was returned with used tires. -Fly wheel for starter was not secured on subaru. Starter sheared off flywheel bolts inside transmission and trashed it. If I could give negative stars I would. This shop is completely scandalous. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE THERE!!! (unless you want to scrap it). Only reason they look like they have a full parking lot with many customers, is the fact that they have alot of do over work to perform. If I was the type of person, I would sue the crap out of them!!!!!

A local tire shop referred me to Schmidt Auto. My transmission failed and a friend was working on…read moremy vehicle, unsuccessfully. Erich took the time to listen to my nasty noises and troubleshoot with me at no profit to him. A few weeks later, my friend still couldn't get the tranny fixed and I decided it was time to take my car out of my friend's garage and in to Schmidt. Erich explained my problems and showed me the cause of the malfunction. Furthermore, he spent time with me and explained what I can do at home should the problem reoccur. This week, the culprit reared its head again. I tempted my hand at tending to the tranny, but was having trouble. I went to Erich and he gave me the tool I needed to finish the job! If you can find a mechanic that will show you what you need to do to maintain your tranny at home and then give you the tools to do it yourself, then I think you've found a winner. The garage appears well maintained. Schmidt is personable and professional. He made me feel respected (unlike those condescending mechanics). Schmidt Auto will be getting my future business without a doubt. PS Yelp has the address wrong. It's 8817 W Central Ave, Springboro 45066. If it weren't for the tire shop, I never would have found this place!

Did not even have an answer for the question ! Plus you are paying more because the mechanics have a piece of paper? (ASE) Just my experience, I will not go back

Especially when the whole purpose is to see your newborn granddaughter, but you got to find a place open on Sunday morning close to the hotel to get things looked at first so that you can make the trip home that evening. Not a good start to the day. I figured an early oil change would at least get a mechanic under the hood; then maybe I would get an idea of what I was facing. Thankfully, I came across this Firestone on Google and Chris took care of my ride. They had a $10 online discount advertised on Google/Yelp for an oil change, but I had a problem pulling it up at the desk. The guy there said not to worry and rang it up anyway. In the back, Chris was able to diagnose what the problem was. True, the fix was going to be a lot more than they could manage on a Sunday morning, but he got me informed and back on the road, and when I got home my usual car guy confirmed what Chris told me at the time. These guys are squared away. They treated me and my family well and they even let me go in the back to talk cars with the guys. I am very grateful for their help.

I checked back with them an hour before closing and told me my car was ready long time ago. If not, would have been without the car over the weekend. I hope the crazy year end was the reason they forgot to call me. But otherwise I had a good experience.
