Sometimes it would remain in third after a stop and wouldn't move until I manually shifted it to first gear. When it downshifted to passing gear, it slipped some befor engaging. After I brought it back under warranty, it still slipped in passing gear. While doing some work on the engine, I discovered that the transmission was covered with dried up oil residue like it was never removed or rebuilt. When I contacted them, they said it had been rebuilt. After my lawyer contacted them for parts receipts, they didn't comply. They aren't the original owners and appear to be operating on the former owner's good reputation. I would not recommend them for anything beyond putting air in your tires. They also damaged my newly painted hood and didn't even pay for the repair.

A few weeks later, my friend still couldn't get the tranny fixed and I decided it was time to take my car out of my friend's garage and in to Schmidt. Erich explained my problems and showed me the cause of the malfunction. Furthermore, he spent time with me and explained what I can do at home should the problem reoccur. This week, the culprit reared its head again. I tempted my hand at tending to the tranny, but was having trouble. I went to Erich and he gave me the tool I needed to finish the job! If you can find a mechanic that will show you what you need to do to maintain your tranny at home and then give you the tools to do it yourself, then I think you've found a winner. The garage appears well maintained. Schmidt is personable and professional. He made me feel respected (unlike those condescending mechanics). That's a lot of time. Please don't trust your car to one of the chains. The price tag and "quick turn around" might seem great, but I promise you, you will end up getting burned. Our cars run so well (one of them is going on 19 years in 2026! Crazy!), and I know the whole staff at Centerville is always looking out for our family and not upselling every five seconds. And honestly, the turn around has always blown my mind at CSC. This parking lot is ALWAYS full, and our cars are ALWAYS ready on time (We call ahead for appointments. I recommend doing the same).
