After a frustrating experience with a previous shop that failed to fix my car (2011 BMW 328xi), I decided to take it to Specialty Motorwerkes. From the moment my car was dropped off, the staff was professional, helpful, and friendly. They took the time to explain what was wrong with my car, what needed to be done, and why. I really appreciated their transparency and communication throughout the entire process. Not only were they easy to work with, but they also completed the repairs quickly and efficiently. Now, my car is back on the road and running well. I couldn't be happier with the service I received. Update: It's now been about 2 weeks since I got my car back and everything had been working fine, no lights on my dash whatsoever. Unfortunately ,my car broke down (went into limp mode) again. So, they fixed general issues, just not the issue causing it to breakdown. I thought about taking my car back but when my father called the first thing out of their mouths was talking about a charge for looking at it again. This being the 2nd shop I had taken it to and the 2nd time I was failed by a shop, I didn't really have the means to spend another few thousand on it. Perhaps the new 'Specialty' is trying to rob customers instead of doing a fair service at a decent price? DO NOT look at reviews older than a year; that's apparently the prior owners who actually worked with honesty and integrity. My van went in with what I already confirmed was 2 bad relays, a bad fuel pump, a leaking power steering pump (Toyota used ATF back then, which is highly corrosive) and a dead alternator from the PS leak. Unless you supply external power, it was key dead. With power, all primary safety items such as, lights, front wipers, signals, blowers front and rear, power windows & locks, buzzer, horn, and the radio work. The cruise control does not work due to an illuminated BRAKE on the gauge cluster disabling this for safety. I believe it's the emergency brake lever needing tightened, and a weak brake cable that might need replaced soon. On a bottle the van cranked started ran and held idle without issue. I- like many- assumed this was the same shop as it used to be. RUN! AVOID!! Dalton called a week after it was dropped off (and the van NEVER moved, the tires aren't marked by chalk but I confirmed their drop off position visually) and proposed orally $1197, (I repeated it twice and wrote it down) to replace the fuel pump, fix the AC (provided it didn't need an evaporator, oil to convert to R134- a common and uncomplicated process if the a/c system leaks have been remedied). I was highly concerned they didn't see the obvious ATF coating everything stemming from the PS leak, but Dalton said they'll go ahead and do the fuel pump and adjacent electrical, with the PS leak and full A/C cost TBD. Not unrealistic with a 40 year old vehicle, I figured if it needed converted to R134, they would need to replace the accumulator, need a conversion kit, have to replace any leaks in the AC system... this section was indeed left open. However... he NEVER gave the quotes in writing at this point and by law I should have been entitled to those to see what he was saying on the phone. There is ZERO POINT putting another new alternator on without actually fixing the issue. NONE! He assured me on that 8/29 that he would be directly in contact when the PS issue was verified and quoted out. Nothing for nearly another week, so on 9/3 the van again was visually confirmed as not moved. I call for a status update. No mention of the supposedly 'approved' additional charges at that time. Nothing in writing... 9/4 he calls back and the 'initial' cost somehow went up to $1917 (again- nothing was provided or agreed to in writing at this point) and now we're looking at upwards of $3200 with no guarantee of the scope or scale of repairs- saying it may end up more. What was NEVER agreed to was the fuel system costs that only NOW SUDDENLY appeared after I rejected the $3200 quote. In their system he is able to manipulate what I supposedly agreed to, to show as "agreed" and checked off. That's right- his own software gives him the ability to back up his lies!!! PROFESSIONAL CON ARTISTS!! There are zero part numbers in their supposed 'estimate.' No labor times; no credits for overlapping operations (such as if you take of an alternator, the belts already have to come off). An honest and transparent shop will always be up front with you and disclose these things. Good techs make more money by being accurate and efficient with diagnostics and repairs... So just to recap: he is demanding $685.01 for a van that has NEVER had a wrench turned. He checked off without my authorization a $467.56 charge for "additional time you approved last we spoke." Dead lie here... So I proposed 2 hours plus tax to be done as-is where-is; there was a mutual expectation up until today that I'd have a van running, starting and stopping, and at least a full picture of A/C costs estimated for somewhere in the neighborhood of $1200 plus some shop fees taxes etc. Nope! I was a 30 year customer under the old owner, Tony. Recently, took my car in because I was smelling oil burning. They gave me an estimate for over $7K. Took it to another shop, they cleaned the engine, told me to bring in back in 3 weeks to see where it might be leaking, took it back total cost $0. No repairs needed. I hate what the new owners are doing to the name and reputation of this business Tony worked so hard to start. Will never recommend it again. read more

I am disappoint with Specialty Motorwerkes that the owner and their lousy mechanic are not reliable , trust and honest especially the office lady can throws thing at you if you don't becare. I took my 2012 bmw x5 to them for oil burns and smoke on the tail pip issue.Tony told me that I need a new turbocharger .Finally I manage to come up money for a brand new turbocharger which over $5000.00 jobe.Before I authorize the work I double check with Tony (the owner) three time to be make sure it is the turbocharge is the problem and Tony said yes it is the tubocharge.After they replace with new turbocharger it was not turbocharge .I pick upmy car on Friday and bring it back on the following Monday because oil burning and smoke on tail pip still present .So the car drop off on Monday until Friday no one call me and I have to call them.so the whole week my car was just sitting there for nothing. so Tony waist a lot time and they don't seem to care about customer..When i pick up my on that Friday Tony asked to call his daughter on Monday.That when i start to scratch my head , tony is mechanic ,so why would I need to call hisdaughter. so I call and talk to his daughter but before his daughter talk to me , she put on hold for about 8 minute , i believe she trying to get an answer from her dad. So she did throws thing but I pretend not know anything. After Tony and I argue over the phone about my car and I threat to sue Tony to court , Tony back down and told me it was the valve stem seal is problem and he offer to fix my car with splitting labor . I drop my car off for repair on valve stem seal. It took them a solid three week and I spend about $600.00 for rental a car .Tony did not offer me nothing . Tony drag his feet for working my car because he not make any money but that is not my problem.it his faul for wrong diagnos. during the process of repair the lousy mechanic broke the timing chain and i end up helping tony for $400. Finally the car was done put it back together and pick it up on Monday and bring it back on Tuesday for running rough and the office lady have to resett the check engine.But that seem to last about a day and it come back the next. Now my car is in bad shape and I have to look else where for service. Also the mechanic are taking pride on their job and they left my car a lots a big mess which is unbelievable.I do not recommend this shop to any one .So please stay away from shop before you regret like me.Also they never called the customer . the customer has to called them all the time.. i am regret about this Specialty motorwerkes service .they are not honest and lied alots. read more

No one should have to spend their hard earned money on a consumer lawyer so they can sue their mechanic for mechanic negligence or Intentional Tort. I hope Tony and SPECIALTY MOTORWERKES INC. as a whole read and understand this message loud and clear. Based on my experience, your shops mechanical skills are sub power at best. FOUR AND FIVE STARS ARE EARNED, NOT GIVEN. But... truth be told, although you probably ruined my vehicle your obnoxious, arrogant attitude earned you this marvelous ONE STAR rating. Simply put, No one wants to do business with a DONKEY. This is a true story. On or around early Dec. 2020 my 2001 BMW 740il had issues with the brakes. I dropped it off at Anthony Depillo shop. Some time later around Jan./Feb 2021 we talked on the phone and Tony let me know that the break issue was fixed. Then I asked Tony to look the car over to make sure their were no further issues with the car. NOW THIS IS WHERE THE STORY GOES SOUTH! The shop has a very bad habit of never calling you about your vehicle. I know this because they had my car for a whole year, and I initiated the majority of the contact/calls. So imagine my surprise when I call to see if my cars finish and Tony tells me that...MY RIMS AND TIRES HAVE BEEN STOLEN OFF MY CAR! He assured me he would take care of everything(replace the rims and tires). I had even spoken to his daughter on several occasion on what type of rims and tires I wanted. Needless to say, months and months went by and I had not heard from the shop. I got to thinking. The police where called for the theft of my rims and tires. A police report was filed, but I was never contacted by the police. Hmmm... At any rate Nov. 2021 comes around and after meeting in person through out the year and contacting Specialty over the phone, I finally had a face to face w/ Tony at his shop. Their really was no pussy footin' around the convo. I came right out and asked him why my car wasn't repaired? Where are my rims? You know... the rocket science questions. It was at that moment I knew Tony did not give a f&*k about me or my personal property. That split second Tony showed me his true character and what he has probably taught /passed down into his family. His demeanor towards me was like... What?, Who cares about your car, or Whatever. The conversation was not going very well, and I definitely was not going to argue with him. He clearly knew what he was doing and had done to me. So late Dec.2021 I decide to remove my car from his premises. But it wasn't that easy. Once I purchased a set of rims and tires and put them on my car. I knew the car had been siting on bricks and jack stands for a year so the battery would be dead (battery in back). Let me raise hood and make sure all connection look good...WHAT THE F*%K! MY ENGINE IS APART. I had to call a tow truck to tow my car away. I am currently suing Speciality Motorwerkes Inc. for the damage they have caused to my car. But wait, they have counter sued me. They claim I HAD NO RIGHT TO TAKE POSSESSION OF MY CAR....(AFTER A YEAR..LMAO) AND THAT I OWE THEM BASICALLY $4,000 FOR REPAIRS THEY HAVE DONE ON THE CAR. read more

They have the best prices and do fantastic work. I've lived all across the country as active duty military and I've discovered that 99% of shops who say they "specialize" in foreign cars just say that to convince you that you should pay more for their service. These guys are one in a million; the only auto repair place I trust. I actually feel good about taking my car in knowing that it's going to get done correctly and on budget. read more

i had a 2008 c300 for about 3 years. they took complete care of me. i blew my power steering doing donuts in the middle of winter, covered it VERY VERY reasonably. I then had a power steering issue MONTHS later, they covered it completely on their end. Fixed a rusted out subframe, every service they did an amazing job. I plan to take every car i own to them. They provide a family feel, with family prices. Some things they even completely covered on their end and it didnt cost me a dime. read more

I can't begin to describe my level of disappointment in this business. this is my first review and I created a yelp account just to get this out there. I took my 1987 325e BMW into specialty 4 weeks ago, and I just got my car back. I had taken it in for a distributor cap, ignition coils, spark plugs, and a front suspension overhaul with coil overs on all four tires. they did the plugs and wires right away, but then they just completely ignored the suspension (and me) for three weeks. I never heard from them, the only time I would hear anything was if I called them. and even then, it was "oh, it will be done in a few days". a few days later I call back, same story. this went on for weeks! I finally told them to forget the coil overs and just put the control arms, tie rod ends, and sway bar links on. when I came to pick the car up, the mechanic had a hard time getting the car to start..not good. then I left with the car and it drives like crap. a little better than when I took it in, but not nearly worth the premium I paid. they charge $90/hr for labor. what a joke. TL:DR don't waste your time or money on this poor excuse for a business. read more

Well if you are looking for someone to change fluids I guess they would be a decent shop to use. However, If you have anything more you need DO NOT use them. I brought my 81 Mercedes SD in for a valve adjustment and ended up scrapping the entire car. The piston Specialty Motor Werkes broke during this minor procedure would have been more expensive than buying another Benz. The owner is a real peach. The month that he had my vehicle the only updates I would get was when I contacted him. He even ducked back into the shop after my third visit and refused to see me. I have a european car and I had heard great things about this mechanic. They took my car in and quoted me a very low price for the initial repair, upon looking at it further they found a major repair and it cost a lot more. That is not my complaint at all. They had to order a special part, this went from a day wait to 5 days of waiting, they didn't bother to call me and keep me updated. They then assured me Wednesday I would have my car back. I call Wednesday at 1pm to find out the part still hadn't arrived, that part is not their fault, but they could have called me the day before to let me know I wouldn't have my only mode of transportation back so I could make other plans. They apologized and said they had been busy, offered no compensation for the stress and issues the caused. This is a family owned mechanic, if you can't get one on one care and be kept up-to-date because they are so busy then what is the point of taking your business here? I don't recommend them at all. I suggest you call around and try to find a better mechanic. read more

After being totally ripped off by a Volkswagen dealer ship that charged me thousands of dollars and did not fix my car, I brought it here, not only did they fix my car perfectly, but also helped me get my money back from the dealership that was just charging me for unneeded parts and work. They also helped my son buy his first car and save some money on that, they are darn good, honest, reasonable, reliable, and no one else is ever touching any car I have!!!
