Consumer Caution…read more Beware of Accel Tire & Automotive in Kettering (corner of David and Gateway.) We've been taking our vehicles to them for routine maintenance for about two years. Six weeks ago, I was stranded in a parking lot in sleet and freezing rain because every last drop of oil had drained out of my car. We had to have it towed to the shop TWO WEEKS after they completed a routine oil change. They claimed that the silicone ring between the oil pan and plug was defective. (I'd like to see them say that to Audi's face .) I personally thought it was human error. They didn't really seem to care but put in a new silicone ring and refilled the oil. They did the same thing to my oldest daughter. Yesterday on the way to work, her car lost its oil plug; it completely fell out along with all the oil in her engine. She had to make an emergency stop in Beavercreek (thankfully there was a nearby parking lot) and wait for a tow truck. I'm adding a pic from the mechanic yesterday. She has an aluminum ring between the oil pan and plug that should have been changed awhile ago. Because they didn't, it put her safety at risk. (In addition to the cost to tow her car and have someone else look it over, replace the old part, replace the missing part, refill the oil, and clean up the leaked mess.) All told, we're out around $1000 in hard costs and lost revenue (being stranded, waiting on tow trucks) in the last 6 weeks. COME TO FIND OUT, my other daughter's brand new car has also started to leak oil since having these crooks change her oil. I don't believe in coincidence. I'm so thankful nobody was injured or killed in a car set up to fail. AVOID THESE CLOWNS

You'll primarily interact with the two front desk employees who do what they say they're going to do at a level that's pretty impressive. ("We'll email you a full workup of your car, and if you don't call us within the half hour, we'll call you to make sure you've received it.") -They offer courtesy rides to/from where you need to be. If you need to drop off your car mid-day, they can take you back to work. If you need to pick it up mid-day, they can come get you from work to pick up your car at the mechanic. When I had to take my car here unexpectedly and planned to have to take an Uber, they were happy to get me home at no cost to me. -Full price transparency. Even when working up the work order just to take a look at what was wrong with my battery, the service manager, Eric, flipped his computer screen around and talked me through what every charge was and why it was there before I agreed to the look. After they knew what was wrong, it was the exact same process, with a full itemized plan (taxes and all fees included!) with the out-the-door price to know what you're getting yourself into. -They also run a full "complete car health" check on your car. I'm unsure if you can opt out of this, but it was really helpful, honestly. You receive a full online list of Green, Yellow, and Red items of concern about your vehicle along with pictures and explanations of everything to do a bit of reading yourself. This is SO nice for reading at your leisure instead of feeling bad taking up someone's time while they have a line out the door of customers waiting on them. -Zero pushiness on any service. When I opted out of one of the "Red" services, Eric was super friendly, explained what the potential risks would be, and let me know what a good "you really gotta get this done for your safety" timeline would be. -Car was returned just the way I gave it to them. No extra dirt or anything else. -They were able to get my car done within the day with no problem - even when I came back, without an appointment (see below), a second time! -I never waited in line. With two front desk staff members, there was never a time where I was on hold on the phone or waiting in the office. There was always someone to help me - and fast! -They have an after-hours lockbox for dropping off your keys AND picking them up. I feel so much more secure with my key locked up instead of the usual mechanic placements somewhere on the car. CONS: -After returning my car to me with the issue "fixed", the battery light was back on in my car within a day. Super weird. However, I brought it back in (rides, again, were offered to me!), and they redid the work at zero cost to me. My guess would be one of the parts was DOA when they put it in, and their short test drives didn't trigger the same wear on it as driving home did. -The work was a bit more expensive than my mechanic friends said it "would" have been at other places. Not price gouging or anything ridiculous, but just be aware that it might be a bit more expensive to fund all of those fantastic customer-first experiences you get to enjoy.
