I actually haven't been to a Grimaldis in a few years and decided to stop in. Being a pepperoni girly I ordered a classic pepperoni pizza, which arrived quickly and tasted fresh. I also sampled the desserts: the cheesecake, Oreo cheesecake, and tiramisu. Honestly, all three were delicious, but the Oreo cheesecake was probably my favorite. Super creamy and rich without being overly sweet. The tiramisu was light and flavorful too. Definitely a great spot for pizza night + dessert. Although we had a great experience with the food, I will say that the ambiance in the restaurant was more casual than I remembered it. Definitely more casual than comparable upscale pizza places, while the prices were still upscale. But the service was pretty good, so honestly can't complain. read more

The vibes were good, i liked their outdoor seating area and the indoor area near the bar had a nice indoor outdoor vibe. They had a lot of options on the menu. But not too many to be overwhelming. We were able to split a pizza in half and do two flavor which was nice. I enjoyed their selection of mock tails the one I got was called twilight or something it was very pretty and tasted like a Shirley Temple. Our waitress was also very quick friendly and helped us understand the different cheese options on some of the pizzas. Another server also ran out after a group of older ladies, to return a hat to one of them that they had dropped on their way out. That was sweet and added some wholesome vibes for the experience. Love coming to Grimaldi's, the pizza is always amazing, but I noticed a slight difference at this location. Came in to pick up food for me and my husband which included two calzones. I ordered them on the app because it was most convenient and would be ready by the time I arrived at the restaurant. One of our calzones was with chicken and spinach. There was barely any chicken which was pretty disappointing. Plenty of cheese, good amount of spinach, but definitely thought there'd be more chicken in a 16" calzone, and at other locations, there usually is. When we cut the calzone into 4 pieces, only 2 of the 4 pieces actually contained chicken and the amount of chicken was minimal. This location is right off the highway next to quite a few other businesses but pretty easy to get in and out of. Our server was a master at explaining the ingredients that go into every pizza, the sauce and even suggested we sign up for their rewards program to get a free appetizer. When a large pie of coal-fired pizza arrived to the table still crackling from the intense heat of the oven, its crust kissed by a smoky char that added just the right crunch to each bite. My business partner and I were on our way to DFW airport and pizza sounded good. We had an hour and a half and Grimaldi's was only 3 miles from the airport. So we stopped in at 3:45pm on a Thursday. They are known for good pizza and we were the only table seated so this was gonna be good. Well, the service was slow. Our waitress was nice but it appears they got some to-go pizzas called in and 30 mins after ordering our pizza and calzone we still didn't have anything. Only one more table occupied. After asking we were told just a few more minutes. My pizza came out in 5 min and I was 1/2 done before my buddies calzone came out. Not good service standards at all. I can't imagine a busy night. Regardless, I really liked our bruschetta. Some of the best I've had in a while and my pizza was really good. Don't come here unless you have plenty of time to sit and wait. Every time we have gone to this location this year the wait time for our food is ridiculous. This visit was no different but this time the pizza was burned and 3 pieces had large "bubbles" of crust with nothing on them like the picture. I brought it to the waitresses attention and she offered to have them make us another one, but we didn't want to wait 30 minutes or more for it so we salvage what we could out of it. She said she brought it to the manager's attention and was trying to get a coupon for a free pizza for us, but he was back in the kitchen helping him make pizzas so he took eight dollars off our pizza. Our waiter must've been new. However she did seem awfully comfortable considering most of the time she was in the back on her phone and eating lol. We had a clear view of the back btw. The food took 45+ minutes to come out after we ordered and there were maybe 4 other families in the restaurant. All of the cooks in the oven area are just messing around having a good time while my pizza was just sitting there rotting. Turns out the pizza was 50% grease and I couldn't even pick it up without all of the toppings sliding off. Management needs to do better and hold their wait staff accountable. First impression was the staff taking about a customers hair, laughing, joking that they should text the customer about it. We were told there was a wait. That was fine, she took down my number and said she would text us when the table was ready. Husband was with me and heard me say the correct number. We waited almost over an hour, never got a text. We went in and basically blamed us for her writing down the wrong number, anyway we got seated. Pizza came out lukewarm, and was not all of that at all. Super let down. This has been one of my favorite pizza places for a while now. Every time me and my family come, it's always delicious and we have our favorites we always get. I don't have photos but definitely get the Lemon Arugula salad (they do it with Parmesan shavings) it is so good I replicate it at home the best I can!! Our favorite pizzas are the Quattro formaggi, Brooklyn bridge, prosciutto arugula, my dad's favorite is the don, and my last favorite is building your own. One I would love to try is their new Italian hero pizza or the Tuscan veggie. I'm sure they're both delicious. Haven't tried their desserts yet, but I look forward to in the future. We usually just don't have room for dessert after pizza. Service is usually pretty good here, can't complain, every waiter and waitress we've had were great. Ambiance is always very nice, love the black and white photos of New York City, the Frank Sinatra music, and more that sets the mood. Their marinara sauce is also for buying and is fresh with nothing bad in it, we use it for spicy tomato soup at home during the winter and fall and it really hits the spot as it is so flavorful!! Please excuse my NOVEL of a 0 Star review- Absolutely Unacceptable Experience I've never written a review like this before but my visit to Grimaldi's in Grapevine was beyond disappointing. From the moment I walked in the environment was completely unprofessional. It honestly felt like walking into a lions den. The host stand was empty for a while most definitely because the host was too busy flirting with and hanging all over the curly haired pizza cook instead of greeting guests. and when we were finally seated things just got worse. Totally unprofessional and set the tone for the rest of the night. Explicit and vulgar music was blasting from the pizza cooks so loud that we couldn't even hear the restaurant's beautiful Frank Sinatra music. Totally inappropriate for an establishment that claims to be a family restaurant. On top of that the staff were using loud offensive language in front of guests with no regard to who was around. Nearly every employee was glued to their phone while customers waited for service. The short blonde manager was openly berating staff right in the middle of the restaurant and completely ignoring the fact that customers could hear him. There was no sense of hospitality no professionalism and no accountability from anyone in charge. The bartender was shockingly rude and dismissive yelling at everyone going back and forth from the bar to the kitchen and acting like she owned the place. It was pure chaos. The only bright spot was our server Jordan I think her name was. Sweet girl and clearly doing her best despite the environment. The Margherita pizza was phenomenal but it didn't make up for the experience. I didn't realize I had signed up for dinner and a show. Grimaldi's used to be a great name but this location needs serious attention from higher ups. Absolutely sickening. I forgot how great Grimaldi's was. Haven't been since I moved from Dallas. This was worth the 25 minute drive. All pizzas were fantastic. Particularly recommend a BYO garlic base with ricotta, and then the Brooklyn bridge. Their cheesecakes were also phenomenal. Light and fluffy and definitely homemade and not the frozen junk so many pizza places serve. Coconut caramel cheesecake was the favorite. We just love, love, LOVE! Grimaldi's. Not once have we ever had a bad time. Ok, Ok, I take it back. One time a group of us ordered two pizzas. One pizza we ordered had a hole in the middle of it. We let the waiter know that there was a hole in the pizza, about the size of a half dollar. Nothing to crazy. We just wanted to let them know about it. Then the manager comes out and gave us an extra pizza and removed the pizza with the hole in it from our bill. From then on in I became a Grimaldi's loyalist. The drinks are pretty good here as well to. Can't go wrong with wine or the full bar. If you get a chance also order up some minced garlic. It goes well the your pizza. As for salad's their small house salad is big enough for two adults to share, and it tastes delicious. As for kids, my daughter loves the crayons and the kids games they give her. Cross word puzzle, tic-tac-toe and more. She also really likes when they bring out the little dough ball to play with. She really loves that dough, so much she takes it home with us to play with. And lastly what about the pizza? If you like NY style and or local pizza shop style then Grimaldi's is for you. Yes it is a chain, and don't get me wrong I love my family owned pizza joints, but I do love Grimalid's as well. And man, is that pizza GREAT! I say better than any of the chain pizza places. I am really surprised by some of the comments about the service here, as that has never been my experience. At both the Grapevine and Clearfork locations, I feel I have recieved excellent service. I came about 7:30 on a Sunday. The weather was still a little chilly and there wasn't anyone sitting outside. I asked if that was an option, and they set me up on the patio without delay. The bartender was the one taking care of me, I believe her name was Victoria, and she was wonderful. So me and my family went here a couple days ago and the food was great, the hostess was amazing but unfortunately our server was not. Alyssa was incredibly rude, talked to people like they were below her, and made not us not feel welcome. She made the experience very uncomfortable and we will not be returning. Went for lunch today and it was disappointing to say the least. 6 people in not an overly busy restaurant. Two people's pizza lunch slices came out cold. The apple walnut salad was just a bowl of spinach. The cheese-less pizza that was ordered showed up to the table 20 minutes after everyone else's food had gotten to the table. The excuse was that a large online order came in and they started working on it instead of her pizza. Then they weren't going to provide a discount on her pizza being forgotten. Food and drinks were great, but the manager Carmen, interrupted my evening by storming into the bar area and demanding a nearby employee to close the outside bar and patio area for some strange reason (it was 7:30pm and about 80°). The way he spoke to his employee serving the bar area was very unprofessional and quite frankly rude. After this I could no longer enjoy my dinner due to this experience -- knowing that management would speak to their employees like that openly in front of customers easily shows that this restaurant is not worthy of my business. Grimaldis used to be a fine establishment to dine in, but the exchange I witnessed between the manager and one of the employees near the bar area was incredibly unprofessional. FWIW the pizza was quite good. It was the service that was so lacking I couldn't justify even 3 stars. Took 10 minutes of no waiter before the hostesses noticed and least brought us some water. The manager (bald head) walked by several times and never noticed, never checked drinks, never acknowledged anything, just checked scores on the TV. Our waiter (shorter guy, black hair, slight beard) only refilled our drinks once and only because we asked. The only time we ever saw him was to take our order, refill our drinks after I flagged him down, to bring our pizza, and when I flagged him down again to pay our tab and leave. Have you ever been to the original Grimaldi's? Had the pizza? Great, right? Well, that pizza is not like the pizza found at this franchised Texas store. First, this restaurant is located in strip center with lots of convenient parking. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and an indoor and outdoor bar. The vibe is very casual, and the place is clearly focused on its pizzas. Yes, there are some salads. They have a full bar with cocktails, beer, and a decent selection of casual wines. But this is, after all, a pizza joint. So it's really all about the pizza. And the pizza is not bad. It's just not Grimaldi's 8.0 Brooklyn-good. This store's pizza is Dave-Portnoy-one-bite review 6.3 kinda good. "Can you give franchises with the same name a different score? Yes!", said Davey Pageviews. So 6.3 it is. Anyway, if you need a pizza fix, and you're in the Grapevine area, and you don't need real Brooklyn style pizza, then Grimaldi's may meet your expectations. Grimaldi's service is mostly young and mostly just OK. Stellini, an Italian place located a mile away has pizza that's every bit as good - if not better. Great food but service leaves something to be desired. If the goal is to win customers and repeat customers then you might have staff that acknowledges you. We literally had to track someone down to help seat us, with at least 3 staff just standing around and still took several minutes to get a table. We felt like we were bothering them.
