You can get a combo with large fries and drink double meat and cheese for less than $8... They move quickly along the counter and drive thru. The burgers taste pretty good actually, not sure why, but they do lol. The location is really in an odd tip of a triangular corner and there is no access to the drive thru if you are coming from East Irving Blvd. You do have to use the opposite entrance to gain access to the drive thru as they have it covered it to avoid congestion in the small area. Though there is a good amount of parking available. The inside looks upgraded, clean and newish. There is plenty of people @ work here and on a roll. Customer service is good, mostly younger employees here, but never had an error on my orders. If you are in the area and want a good ol burger come on by and get their #1 or #2 - Reg sized combos w large sides. They also do have the bigger sizes, though the regular sizes do fill me up. Greasy, beloved hamburger in an Irving institution. I've been here twice. The burgers are good. Don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure I'm getting the reverence given them by some. They have reasonably priced meals. Burgers come with mustard. The buns are also grilled slightly and the edges are deliciously crusty. The fries are similar to McDonald's. When they are busy, it can take 15 minutes to get your order. You get refills on your drink at the counter from an employee. Again, you'll get a good, solid burger. Parking... Oh my gosh. I don't even know what to tell you. Griff's is located where Irving Blvd. switches from two way to one way. This makes the parking lot very confusing. I remember Griff's from when I was a kid. This was cool burger place with a small arcade that you could run to as soon as you finished your burger. Not much has changed and sadly Griff's has not aged all that well. As for the burgers, I still like them. They are a good meaty burger and I can taste the mustard (which I like). Usually get the onion rings instead of fries and if you really want to make it perfect add a jalapeño to it. While I probably won't eat there, I have no qualms with picking up a sack full and taking it home with me. No drive thru, so be prepared to step back into the 80s once you get there (complete with hair dos in some cases). If you're ever near downtown Irving, it's worth a shot. read more

I really don't understand the low score. A Griff's burger had everything a quality burger should have. I loved the char on the patty and the way the meat crumbles in your mouth. Griff's is like a good mix of a quality burger diner and a fast-food burger joint. The price is also very appealing. $7.50 for a larger double cheese burger combo is great! One of the previous reviews said that Griff's is like Whataburger. I can slightly agree with that their statement. The burgers and fries are very similar. If you're looking for a good fulfilling meal the number one is the way to go. So I've been coming here for 30 yrs!!!! Hahaha. I remember being a toddler, coming here for our family outing. The food hasn't changed. It's soooo good! My husband and I have a tradition, after we file our taxes we go to Griffs. Hahaha! We're dorks. But it's something we looks forward to. The meat is always perfectly cooked and seasoned. The buns are warm and fries are hot. We each get the #4 which is a triple meat. You know that feeling when you're so full but you could eat another one! Lol that's us every time. I am a big fan of Griff's Hamburgers ever since I was a little kid as my parents always went there. This particular Griff's location has stripped away the old 70s/80s building design and have revamped with a more modern look like other Griff's locations in the areas are doing. The food here is good most of the times I have eaten here. The employees here are very nice for the most part. The only complaint I have is the parking lot situation. Very hard to park in here and they have barriers for the drive thru which can be an impediment when trying to park or when leaving for that matter. Parking cannot be improved much as they don't have much real estate to address the parking concerns. So come here for the great burgers but also understand the parking issues. If you come off peak hours then parking should not be a problem. read more

I used to like Griff's. But I went today at 1:45 to grab a "quick" cheeseburger. I was in the drive-thru lane for 40 minutes. As I sat at the window to get my food I watched the staff inside. They looked like they were in slow motion. No urgency. Lots of waiting. When they started to hand me my meal, it wasn't my order, so I reminded them it's a #2 Combo with Mayo. What they ultimately gave me and I discovered after I drove away was someone else's order. The fries were not hot. The burger wasn't either. I asked the girl at the window what was making them so slow and she said, oh, we're just busy! I felt so trapped in the tiny drive-thru lane. 40 long minutes. I warmed up the food when I got home. The burger was ok even though it wasn't what I ordered. The fries were not good and I tossed them. I did end up with an apple pie I didn't order. But that was about the only positive. Irving Griff's seriously needs a manager to develop new processes to move the orders more quickly and accurately. Think twice before going there when they're "busy." read more

NO. Just say no! My husband and I visited Griff's because we are on a continuous quest for the Holy Grail of burgers and heard this place was a gem. Well, it isn't. The cheesy potato spuds were good and the burgers were OK, but peep this: I went to pick up my order from the front and sat down and opened the box that I thought contained my burger. I lifted up the bun to check the contents to make sure everything was correct (as I always do) and saw that it was a chicken sandwich and not a burger with bacon. It wasn't too big of a deal, but I went back to let them know I'd gotten the wrong order. Surely enough, my food was in a different container and they handed it to me...AFTER PUTTING THE SANDWICH I'D TOUCHED BACK IN THE WINDOW!!! Now, I know that personally I am a pretty clean person, but that is just not right. It doesn't take a genius to know they should've tossed that sandwich and made a new one for its rightful owner. Oh, but I'm not done yet. We were eating our food and my husband leaned over and whispered to me, "I don't want to freak you out, but that lady totally just took the trash out [and smoked a cigarette] and went back behind the counter and didn't wash her hands." BLECH! In retrospect, I should have said something and asked for our money back, but I was tired and really didn't want to end up making a scene. Griff's is a throwback to a bygone age. This once formidable burger chain that stretched America in the 1950s now lays moribund on its deathbed as only a handful of locations still exist. To my amusement, one of the remnants of the chain is located near "downtown" Irving. The place is like a small town Dairy Queen. That is the vibe. There is even the requisite Ms. Pac Man machine in the corner. The place is clean-ish, although what do you expect from a run down-ish Burger joint? The food is pretty decent although the standard portion size is lacking; they obviously want you to upgrade to the larger doublestack or triplestack. Additionally, those of you that do not belong to a fundamentalist Mesopotamian religion will be happy to know that bacon is available for a paltry 60 cents. The highlight of the experience is viewing the clientele: Mexican Vaqueros that are naturally Spanish monoglots, a crazy homeless couple, and stubborn small town country folk. An argument erupted at the table next to mine because one old farmer refused to have a pacemaker put in! How droll! read more

I've heard about Griff's from time to time but never tried it until now. Back in the 1960s it was a big chain with stores along every major highway. Now it's slowly dwindling away. I thought I should try it at least once before they're gone. There are only a few left and the one in Irving is an original. It was built in 1963 and from the look of it, not much has changed since. It's dirty and falling part inside. Old plastic benches and tables sit on two mismatching ancient flooring materials beneath water-stained drop ceiling tiles. Most of the interior surfaces are caked with layers of paint and grime. It's one of those place you find yourself trying not to touch anything. On the upside they still have their patented A-frame building and a huge, retro-style sign out front that's amazing; complete with goofy 1960s graphics and typefaces. The sign includes a weird humanoid figure known as "Griffy" who represents the chain's founder, Harold Griffin. (if you're a fan of Zippy the Pinhead comics, you may remember Zippy and Griffy visiting Griff's Hamburgers in several strips and joking about the name). The staff was very friendly and helpful. When I placed my order, they noted I could save some money by getting one of the combos. The food was made to order, not pulled out from under heat lamps like some fast food places, so they get points there. The food wasn't really awful but it was nothing special either. It was basically just a generic fast food burger of the sort you could get at Whataburger or McDonald's or a dozen other places. The fries are thin-cut and very plain, sort of like you'd imagine fast food fries from the 1960s would taste. The onion rings were thin cut and better than the fries, but also pretty generic tasting. I've had worse burgers and if I really wanted a fast food burger for some reason, Griff's is probably as good as any. But it can't compare to the many higher end burger joints in Dallas like Angry Dog, Stackhouse, Jakes, Smash Burger and others. There are so many great burgers in Dallas, I just don't eat many fast food burgers. I'd recommend one visit for nostalgia but I doubt I'll be eating there again. read more

I can handle apathetic employees, but these ones were also incompetent. 3. I ordered the "GIANT Cheeseburger" and was disappointed to see that it was about the size of a Wendy's Jr. Cheeseburger. Griffs has been around since I was a kid, and I have tons of memories going there to eat and playing the arcade games in the back... As a kid I loved it, but as I got older I just grew apart from it, and it just seemed to decline slowly as the years passed... Well since they have recently redone the place I decided to give it a whirl through since it looks a lot more crowded I figured it got better... When I was a kid never liked how they put tons of shredded lettuce on the burger so was happy to see in the pictures they don't do that anymore they use a few big pieces, except they do still do that truckload of shredded lettuce thing (just not on the pictures)... I asked for a double with bacon, large fries, and some cheddar wedges and my order was repeated back at least two times in the correct way... At the window where I get the food the guy asked if I wanted Ranch with the wedges and I said yes... Got my order home and and there was no bacon, large fries was a small fries, and no Ranch... The fries are soggy and cold, burger was pretty good, but still just felt disappointed overall... My recommendation is go somewhere else, but if your just dead set on Griffs then make sure to double check your order before you drive off... read more
