I work near Griddle 24 so I find myself here multiple times a week. They have fresh soups daily (I highly suggest the chicken and rice or the French onion). This is a traditional diner with a two page long menu of great options and specials. It also visually looks like an older diner (not like the 1950s style diners). The service is always top notch, I recommend Maria the waitress if she is there. But all of their staff are incredible. The food here is also good, it's consistent no matter what you order. Comes out within 6-9 minutes on average which beats the average restaurant during rush hour for most! Of note they do have a slight 0.60 cent charge for carry-out per dish so be aware of this going in! Their to go packaging is always great, we've never had a problem over six months of going there. read more

It's hard to bring myself to say anything bad about this place, because I so approve of this kind of enterprise -- the big welcoming corner diner, open 24/7, equally home to the hungry working men, the group of teenagers socializing, and (as it happens) a 4 year old girl looking for grits for dinner, with her dad. That said, don't expect too much from the menu. My soup was surprisingly good, in a rich-and-salty kind of way, but what I thought would be a foolproof panini sandwich was pretty hard to choke through. My daughter loved her breakfast foods. This diner and notice I said diner was disappointing. They have a large menu which should've been a red flag for me but I had the grandkids we just came from the slime museum and they were hungry. We settled on chicken wings as an appetizer they tasted like they had been taken out of the freezer microwaved, and then poured sauce all over them. They were not appetizing. We had cream of rice soup. It was thick, but bland. For our main course, we had a ribeye steak with a baked potato. The ribeye wasn't bad, but the baked potato had to be returned because it was rancid. The salmon was OK but it just didn't have enough seasoning. Service was OK but nothing really stood out in this place not the food not the ambience not the service. I so wanted to love this place. It's sort of like your typical diner for when you have nowhere else to go after a night out or it's considered hangover food whatever the case I won't be returning here. read more

Definitely thought this was giving greasy spoon vibes...but oh it's so much more! Giant menu, breakfast served all day, boozy milkshakes and amazing service! Place has the potential to get packed, I'm sure. We got there noon-ish on a Saturday after the Faces of Fitness festival a couple blocks down. Decent crowd for sure, but not overwhelming. Great diner in river north area serving great diner food 24/7 most of the week except Mondays and Tuesdays. My wife and I stopped in one day for breakfast. Ended up ordering Salmon Egg Benedict that came with a side order of fruit. The interior is colorful and clean. There are booths, tables and counter seating. The staff is incredible. Not only are they efficient, but friendly and helpful. Imagine spending roughly $20 per plate, but sharing between 2 people... that's like $10 per person for an extremely filling meal! Not into breakfast? Their menu is also large (like their portions) so don't worry. Great diner food, and not uber-greasy (major plus). The host greeted us with a warm smile and hearty hello. Our server was quick, but didn't make us feel rushed. The food was fresh and brought out quickly. I asked for certain substitutions due to a new diet, and they accommodated perfectly. Every time I come back to Chicago, I come here to Griddle 24. We had the mozzarella sticks, corned beef hash & eggs, hash browns, and the chilaquiles rojos. The food all came out hot and as ordered, as I'd asked for the corned beef hash & the hash browns to be extra crispy. The food was good. Nothing extravagant, but good solid diner food! Our server Victor was incredible. He was very personable and always kept our drinks full. The ambiance is always nice; good music, nice lighting, and very clean. I have always been a fan of the hole-in-the-wall diner, and Griddle 24 is a step above with its classic 60s-looking interior, warm staff, and is in a great location. I ordered the French toast and eggs with some chicken wings to share with my friend on the side. She got the Veggie Crapes with holidays sauce and a tea. I washed my meal down with a coffee. Everything was diner perfect. My friend wasn't a fan of her crape. I think she wanted more flavor, but the holidays helped. The chicken wings were a pleasant surprise and one of the best parts of the meal. I noticed they sell chicken and waffles but use chicken tenders; their chicken wings are so good, so why not combine the wings with the waffles? If they did, I believe they would have one of the best chicken and waffles in the city. When asking my excellent waiter why they didn't do the wings with the waffles, he said the cook didn't want to. Trying to check out all the food spots in my new neighbourhood and I stumbled onto this 24/7 diner just blocks away from me. Very decent cream of mushroom soup, potato salad, and a wonderfully messy/delicious Reuben sandwich for $15. I can see this becoming a staple for whenever I am too lazy to cook and don't want to order in. Minus one star because they charged me $3.50 for a seltzer water - come on guys, it's just bubbles! David & Miguel were very unprofessional. From the beginning we stood in line. They only ask if there was a party of 8. We were in line before a party of 8. There was only 2 of us. I asked if we could sit at the bar. Miguel told me no. Then when I mentioned creating a review, he proceeded to try to sit us at the bar. Very unprofessional!!! Don't waste your time or money. We randomly stopped in to this spot for brunch as we were searching for somewhere new to try. To start, the staff is super friendly and very helpful. The menu consists of soooo many items ranging from brunch to lunch and even dinner items! I would say they definitely have options for any time of the day especially given it's open 24 hours. I got the southwest chicken wrap which was pretty delicious but will say was way sweeter than expected. The woman who appeared to be the manager was very helpful to all but especially with the children sitting near by offering them coloring pages and provided crayons while they wait. They have booths large enough to fit a big group too. Breakfast was good but just not memorable. The biscuits and gravy tasted like the sausage links and the sausage links are unique themselves. In the south, sausage gravy is made with ground sausage and tons of pepper and sometimes even spicy sausage. It just didn't taste how it should but this could be the Chicago way of biscuits and gravy so if you're looking for traditional southern gravy, you won't find it. read more
