Please read the reasons that I am not giving this 5 stars instead of 4, even though it's one of the best office I've EVER been in.
The minute I stepped into the elegantly appointed interior I felt I was in a 5 star hotel, with it's flat screen TV, computer for customer use, wifi if you brought your own, not just have magazines but picture books of the history of the nearby cities, coffee machine and bottles of water. The staff was gracious and accommodating. On their website they didn't list office hours, but this was an emergency situation and when I called the number for emergencies I got the voicemail of the Dr. Westover who IMMEDIATELY called me back, and squeezed me in the next AM. Besides the latest equipment there is a number of sedation plans, dentists had, laughing gas, and two kinds of IV one where you are conscious and one where you're not, they even give you sunglasses to shield you from the overhead lights!
I (for budgetary reasons) usually have to go to dentists in seedy neighborhoods with bad yelp reviews or HMO's where the doctors are always foreign born or new graduates working in a chain dental office under a name of the dentist who owns but doesn't practice. So one of the reasons that I did not give this office 5 stars was that the prices seemed high to me (but then my pricing may be off with the kind of dentists I had, crowns were around $650, perhaps for most private dentists it IS $1100.) Dr. Westover is an older gentleman so he's probably been practicing a long time thus developing his expertise so he most likely has a following and it's not necessary for them to compete on price by offering one of those prepaid dental plans (sigh) or specials like free consultation and xrays or $100 off for new patients, (although I hope they read this and consider doing one or all of the above) but he may not want to have too many customers to give more individualized attention and not engage in predatory pricing practices as cheap chains do who make their profits on volume vs. pricing.
That being said, they do have inhouse financing (with only a SS# and no obtrusive questions) as I feel they do realize their prices are a little high but they want to service as many as possible knowing the importance of dental care and offer senior discounts of 10% off. And unlike like some high end dentists (or more likely, the "chain" dentists who are pressured to produce high sales) he does NOT advise a lot of extra work, to pad the pocket, actually he's quite the opposite. He told me that if I paid for two implants, he would just throw it the third. I asked the staff if he charged me more as it was an emergency and she said no, not only that he often saw patient in dire situations outside the office hours for no extra charge. His partner is younger but his carefully evaluated advice on implants made me feel that with he graduated at the top of his class. The second reason is that the dentist made a misjudgement on what needed to be done, (that may have been due to the emergency situation on hand, so not being my regular dentist he wasn't familiar with my dental history) but rest assured at this office they will make SURE that you are satisfied with their work, so have no trepidation in coming here.
So while I do heartily recommend them, I'd advise one get a really good dental plan so you have the privilege of being a patient, if you are not affluent. And a negative is actually a positive, I had to wait a little as I was a last minute squeeze but most patients were seen right away, they don't overbook like some of the cheap offices I've been too, so it was kind of a shame that the nice waiting room was "wasted". If the ambiance, demeanor of the staff, expertise of the dentist and his willingness to make himself available to what's convenient to you, your time and MOST important to me, YOUR satisfaction with the work done, is important to you then go to him, there is an axiom, you get what you pay for and this is certainly true for this office.
If I didn't have such bad teeth (and this is a woman who didn't have her first cavity until she was 19, sigh) and only needed tooth cleanings (they give you a wonderful take home kit after that!) and an occasional filling or two, instead of crowns, root canals, bridges (actually I need implants but can't afford it, or had a good plan to pay for it) and lived in the area, I'd go to him, for sure. Had I not been forced to chose him because of my ride options I may not have gone to him, but I'm glad I did, for once in my life, it's good for me to treat myself to a quality experience, they also have a contest where you win prizes at the present time. I was only able to afford them because I had emergency dental travel insurance that would help pay the bill.
