But most of the time was spent walking me through the $13,000 worth of dental care they claimed I needed, with the x-rays used as 'evidence". They recommended a 3-session "Deep Cleaning" that costs over $3,000, and five crowns. I have no insurance, so when I asked which crown was most urgent, the response was that all were equally urgent. Though merely "preventative." I requested a regular cleaning instead of the "Deep Cleaning" and they REFUSED to give me one. After previously telling me that would be part of this first visit. I've always had regular dental care from qualified professionals who always assured me that care options were my choice. And they all had the philosophy, "If it's stable, don't mess with it." It's very interesting that my previous dentist saw me 6 months ago and mentioned NONE of these problems. This leads me to the" conclusion that Gentle Dental is just trying to make a lot of money by urging unneeded treatments. My son looked them up on a consumer watchdog website and the vast majority of the comments said that very thing. Our bad for investing $100 in their "smile plan" up front. But I guess that's a small price to pay to find out that we need a different dentist. Gentle Dental, you're fired!

The staff is so supportive and accommodating and they really know how to communicate to their patients what to expect in a way that the patient will understand. I had cracked a filling and they were able to get me in a day later. They explained to me over the phone in a patient and clear way how to take care of the tooth in the meantime. When I was able to come in, they examined my tooth and explained clearly and patiently that I would need a crown. I shared with them my fears (I have A LOT of dental trauma) they were able to explain to me how this experience would be different and better. Dr. Dar was able to calm my fears and when I said I was leaving for vacation that evening and wouldn't be back for a week - he explained clearly why it would be ok to wait to put in the temporary crown for when I returned. I came back for the temporary crown procedure and was so scared but they turned on Great British Backing show, numbed me until I could confidently say I didn't feel anything and began drilling. They moved quickly and it was clear they all cared about each other too as they chatted about weekend plans which was so comforting for me! Then they gave me 3 ibuprofen and 1 Tylenol and told me to go ahead and take it before the numbing wears off and that research shows that combo is best for pain relief which was reassuring. They said if I had any pain that kept me up at night to call them and they would get me back in but I didn't! For the following two weeks I had no pain at all! Then I returned for my permanent crown and they were very honest about how this procedure might cause a little pain because of the cold sealant they would need to use to permanently hold the crown. But they gave me something to squish with my hands and turned on Bob Ross and again moved quickly and confidently through the procedure. This part was slightly painful but nothing compared to what I've experienced in the past and was prepared for because of their clear communication. The whole procedure took about a half hour! Then they sent me home with another 3 ibuprofen and 1 Tylenol - I took it right away and had no pain the rest of the day. I experienced the slightest discomfort later that evening but nothing that kept me up at night and when I woke up the next morning the pain was gone. Here I am a day later and zero pain at all!!!! Just the slightest cold sensitivity but it's very manageable. I am so grateful for their thoughtful and encouraging staff! Heavenly and Dr Dar were amazing to work with. So patient and compassionate and created a welcoming environment! You will get quality care here.

It's hard for me to get time off work and I was excited to get a long overdue cleaning. When I arrived I was told they were short staffed and that I'd need to come back for the cleaning another time. I was moved from one room to another and passed off among different dental assistants. They took X-rays and offered orthodontia and fillings but even with my insurance (Delta Dental) the prices were way too high for me. After a while one of the "approving professors" came along and noticed tears streaming down my face and asked me if I was okay - he quickly removed all of the gear and clamps that were pressed against my teeth and gums. Since then I have experienced severe anxiety whenever going to the dentist (even as something simple as a teeth cleaning sends me into anxiety), so finding the right dentist for me is (literally) more important than finding the right medical Doctor. I recently moved back home after 30 years and was now in search of a new dentist that I could trust...and it cannot just be anyone!! Cut to: Dr. Hieu at Atlas Dental... I cannot express (enough) the level of kindness, compassion and patience that Dr. Hieu and his crew exhibit. Upon my first consultation, I went in expressing the level of fear and trauma that I have with dentists, and they took me under their wing with such loving care and ease. I would have to admit that I put Dr. Hieu under a microscope as I would compare him to my previous dentist out of Los Angeles (who probably has 25 + more years of experience) and who was a season veteran of talent and of one in putting me at ease. Not only did Dr. Hieu exceed those expectations, he even did an amazing job in redoing some veneers of 15 years. At every mark, not only did I notice Dr. Hieu checked every box...but he started to exceed the boxes of his predecessor in L.A of 25yrs. From the smallest corners of the back rooms to the largest corners of the front office of Kelsey and Kim, everything and everyone is pure perfection.
