This was my first experience at Gentech, and I have to say, it was genuinely awesome. I usually have a huge amount of anxiety at the dentist, but as soon as I met the hygienist, Cindi, I felt so calm. She was so personable, and hilarious but still super efficient and knowledgeable about her job. I felt like she related to me on a person-to-person level and made me feel comfortable instantly. I let her know I usually have issues with a very touchy gag reflex at the dentist, and she let me know right away that she would take special care to prevent that from happening. I didn't gag once! That's a first for me. My dentist was Jared Houghton and he was also very friendly and warm, and made the more uncomfortable parts of my visit fly by quickly. All in all, I got there assuming the visit would be as unpleasant as most people find dentist visits to be, and left feeling surprised how easy the whole thing was, how quickly I was scheduled for all my follow up care when I expected to have to wait several weeks to get started, and most of all I left there feeling that I was treated like a person, and not a patient. read more

Made an appointment for a new patient exam in 2023 so I could eventually fill a small cavity. They cancelled my appointment and said they would call me to reschedule. It's been 3 years and they never called. I have a toothache and might need a extensive dental care now. All their appointments are still 6 months out so I'm screwed. read more

I went in and there was amazing service nice staff, clean , they gave me amazing care , i got pictures of my teeth and come to find out i needed fillers and my wisdom teeth pulled. Ok cool they told me they were going to get me a referral to get my tooth pulled and bam no call back, i called back 4 times in one month no one answered i am very disappointed and in excruciating pain. It was not that bad at first but now i don't enjoy eating, drinking a nice cold beverage, even breathing hurts. my mouth hurts , i am pissed. It was okay. The OC office is much better. I was only here to see the periodontist that visits their service. He was not gentle by any means, and he talked so quietly I had to say "what?" after every single darn thing he said. I thought I was at an audiology test. He'd make a librarian or funeral home director sound like a drunken loudmouth at a bar. He did know his job very well and gave me great advice, but I'm sure they all do. My insurance covers everything so that made it tolerable. Just nothing special or I could recommend over others. Speak up, Doc. It's not a cleaning. It's one of the most important visits regarding your teeth you may ever have in your life. What if you misinterpret his diagnosis? Jose the assistant that does work there was awesome and their office is easy to find with plenty of parking. I was so jealous of his beautiful teeth and let him know it. I'll bet everyone who sees them thinks the same. The receptionist was nice and spoke up so I could hear her. At my age most seniors have a 10-20% hearing loss, anyway. There is one thing that is notoriously bad and quite well known. They have a major problem with not answering their phones and the staff is well aware. I wanted to use this office for my regular dental needs as it is much closer to my home, but based on the inferior ratings, that may have been a blessing in disguise. read more

They are constantly rescheduling appointments saying short staffed when I have went in there and seen them all just Sitting in the office on their phones doing nothing. Dr Houghton and team are amazing. I've been seeing them since February and have had excellent care each time. Awesome dentist. First time here since it's much closer to me than my original dentist and I am happy I went here! Front desk girls are very friendly and the doctor and assistant were just awesome. Totally comfortable throughout the whole experience (leveling a filling I had done elsewhere.) I recommend this dentist to anyone needing teeth work done! UPDATE- from five stars to one star.. I have gone to this dentist 3 times and I am pretty sure they made my tooth problem 10x worse since it appeared to be cracked after a simple filling. The doctor that was working on my tooth put me through an unexplainable amount of Pain in my last visit. I specifically told him my tooth is very very sensitive to hot/cold and in pain. So what does he do? He takes a cold cotton swab and places it right on that tooth. It was so painful and then he tries to FLOSS in between that tooth! I practically had to beg him not to. It was horrific! I had just gotten over my fear of dentists and now I am afraid again thanks to gentech. I would rather pay out of pocket to another dentist than go here because my insurance covers it. Never EVER again. Stay away! read more

I had a freaking awesome experience... which is weird to say because I had a tooth extracted at 7AM on Valentine's Day! But the dentist I had literally makes me want to get another one extracted! My referral went through on the 7th of February and by the grace of God I was able to get my rotten tooth taken out within a week. The whole staff was really professional and upbeat, which made this really not so fun activity a little bit more bearable. Overall I'd recommend this place. read more

I had my first appointment with clackamas advantage dental over a year ago. I have tried calling numerous times to their office . After being on hold waiting talk to someone for 5-10 minutes , I would get redirected to leaving a voice mail. I've called numerous times but yet to ever have them answer their calls. The dentist is great that I have there. But the office people are the most inadequate and rude that I have ever come across. I called cooperate office to file a complaint and was treated even more rudely and was told someone would call me back. That was over a month ago and still no one has called. I called another advantage dental to see if I could get transferred so I could complete my dental work and was told I could not transfer. I don't see how this business can stay open running it like they do. It's utterly the worse company I've ever dealt with and I am 62 years old. They do not answer calls. It's almost impossible to reach a receptionist. I had been trying for the past three weeks; I even fell asleep on the phone repeatedly calling. This is worrisome if you have tooth pain and need to see someone to prevent further damage to your tooth. I had to change my dental plan in order to receive care. They also booked me for a dental crown more than four months in the future even though it's something I need to protect my tooth. If they are understaffed they need to not take on more clients than they can handle. Private practices do not do this. It's unfair to the patient. read more

The manager here is completely rude and unprofessional. In September 2023 I scheduled 2 follow up appointments for my son. These were scheduled all the way into January 8th and 11th 2024. On January 1st I got a text message to confirm my appointment so I did. I got the time off work, took my son out of school and we showed up for our 1pm appointment. I was told oh no your appointment for today was cancelled because we could not verify insurance information.. WHAT?! are you kidding me? After we waited 5 months for the appointment. She says you are still scheduled for Thursday the 11th at 2pm. I said okay I will figure out the insurance and see you Thursday. I spend the next 2 plus hours talking to the insurance company who assured me that my son is in fact covered, and I call the dental office back. She tells me that she was now able to verify my insurance and can reschedule the appointment. I said okay well what happened to the Thursday appointment at 2o'clock. She tells me oh I pushed that one to the side because we couldn't verify insurance. After just 3 hours ago I left the office and confirmed in-person that we would be back Thursday for the appointment. After I waited 5 months for these 2 appointments confirmed them via text and in person, She has the audacity to cancel both appointments, then hang up on me. This place sucks for customer service. Getting an appointment is a 6 month wait, they have no respect for your time. When I asked her why she would cancel my appointment after I just confirmed I would be there Thursday in person. She says " we have a lot of people that say they will be here" What the actual Hell! I have never said I would be there and not shown up I confirmed my appointments every which way I could and still they were cancelled. I am so angry this place is a joke. read more

I'm going to be filing a complaint ASAP. This place is a complete mess inside and out. Never answering calls, always having to leave a VM because they're constantly understaffed. I've had EMERGENCY appointments made incorrectly and then been forced to reschedule for much later dates. I've had reassignment changes without my knowledge or awareness right up to the day before 2 days worth of emergency fillings, thus cancelling my appts last minute. This is NOT OKAY. All other Multnomah clinics are inaccessible or understaffed as well. THIS IS FOR MEDICARE PATIENTS!!!!!!!! Fortunately I know my teeth and spotted multiple RED FLAGS with Darius Arlauskas, DMD literally, he told me I had 2 cavities but when I viewed the x-rays, there was NO DECAY. He wanted to give me deep cleaning ($99 extra) that would actually hurt my perfect gums because his young and experienced assistant was wrong with the measurements of my gum line. He wanted to do a crown on a tooth that doesn't even hurt and come to find out didn't need one. He told me I don't grind my teeth, but Buddy I have had TMJ since I was 16 years old. WRONG AGAIN His intentions were clear on the way out.... When he said that every year he will look how much insurance I have left and will begin to replace every filling..... WHAT?!!!! I'd recommend going here if you want the opposite of what you're wanting. I was told I was going to have laughing gas during my extraction on top of the novocaine. I got two shots of novocaine, with a third given to me toward the end of my procedure. I'd rather go through child labor than have that again. It was the worst pain I've ever been with and I've been trying to wrap my head around why a dentist would continue working on a patient that's moving around and loaning loudly due to pain, but it's beyond me. I was told I'd have a follow-up. As I was leaving, I turned around to ask the dental assistant that was working with me if I needed to schedule a follow-up. He was lovely. What wasn't lovely was the blonde dental assistant who I'd never interacted with rudely told me, "it was just one tooth. You should be fine." I hope to God I never have to have another extraction. Read all the bad reviews. This place is a sham depending on your insurance. I have never had issues with a dental office. Sure, we don't like going but this place is on a whole other level. First off, I am on the Oregon Health plan and I have a feeling this has something to do with it. I had an emergency tooth appointment. A major cavity was causing me lots of pain. I was lucky to get a next day appointment here at the Clackamas office. The doctor did see me and took an x-ray. He was nice enough. Direct and to the point. The x-ray didn't show much inflammation but he prescribed me antibiotics and pain meds and sent me on my way. He explained that he didn't have time to do the extraction and would refer me to a "sister company" within 3 days. Well, I waited 4 business days and since I didn't hear back, I called. The receptionist didn't have any info on to what was going on in my charts. I had to re-explain myself to her multiple times. She finally did give me an appointment for two days out. About an hour later I got a call from the office manager. She explained that they have to refer me to a dentist all the way out in Hillsborough as the dentist that saw me doesn't deal in " this type of extraction". I asked her to explain what that means and she gave me various different answers it could be. My chart didn't specify. It's a simple extraction. It's not infected, its not compacted and its not deep rooted. The dentist didn't say that it would be complicated. He stated that he didn't have the time. The dental office manager was really short and not pleasant to talk to. She had a tone in her voice that made me feel like I was a burden more than anything. This coupled with the fact that I had a urgent need to get the referral and never got a call back like they said I would, really made my experience with this place a total downer. It's hard enough dealing with tooth pain so why associate yourself with this dental office? I'm looking for another place. read more

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed on Tuesday. I'm 36 and had "long, curled, roots." My insurance didn't cover anesthesia, so I opted for Halcion and novacane. I was fully coherent the entire procedure... Just very relaxed. Dr. Arlaskus was amazing! 3 teeth were removed with in minutes and the last one was a lil tricky. He talked me through it and it was quickly removed with a mild pressure sensation. Swelling subsided with in 3 days with mild bruising on the tricky tooth side. The staff was extremely friendly and comforting. A dreaded experience that I had been avoiding for years was turned into a painless one. I highly recommend Dr. A and his staff... AND removing your vestigial wisdom teeth sooner rather than later!!! Thank you Gentech for a flawless experience. read more

I'm so glad our ortho experience will be over pretty soon after nearly four years. The ortho team at Gentech is just OK. Scheduling with them is a nightmare as they're only in the office every other Tuesday. If something comes up at the last minute (like your kid has a big test and can't miss school), it's a huge hassle to reschedule as there are very few times to choose from. They also don't have many appointments that are after around 3 pm. Hello - most of your patients are kids in school! We have had to visit the ortho team at other locations when they can't fit us in at Clackamas, which makes it very inconvenient. On a recent visit, someone from the front desk was chewing out a staff member near the waiting area - not professional. I don't know the gist of the conversation, but it definitely should have been taken in the back - away from patients. If I were starting the ortho process all over again, I would pick a different option - not Gentech. read more

Gentech Dentist helped me out tenfold. I initially went in for a cavity that was bothering me and while there, told Dr. Houghton I was concerned about my gums. He took a look and offered me on the spot surgery. We got one side done (he and Jose even stayed late in order to help me out). Upon telling him that I was moving out of state and was worried about having to pay for surgery (on the other side of my gums) without insurance upon my move, Gentech squeezed me in for another appointment. Both sides are now done and my gums are healing up nicely! I cannot say enough good things about the staff here. Dr. Houghton was empathetic, kind, funny, and clearly skilled. Both of us have been receiving mailings from Gentech weekly since moving to Portland 3 months ago- Phoned Clackamas office today, asking to be removed from mailings. Staff person stated "Cannot be removed from mailings, all done by zip code", said "Even I get them at home and cannot get them stopped". We had planned on using Gentech for our dental care, but will likely NOT, considering they do not have any control over their own irritating and constant mailings. read more

DO NOT get ortho done here! they have dr. reese spread so thin amongst their many offices that he is only at clackamas one day a week. he is booked weeeeeeks in advanced because of it AND they won't allow you to see him at another office. unfortunately, i didn't learn this until my insurance had paid their portion in full so if i want to go somewhere else now, it's money out of my pocket! my son hasn't been seen in 4 months!! they get 2 stars instead of 1 because dr. reese is really nice and knows what he's doing. read more

Our orthodontist experience has not been a positive one. I'm having a difficult time understanding their approach. What was only suppose to be a 2 year treatment has turned into 3 years and counting. Some months they decide to put on rubber-bands on, while the next they take them off, followed by putting them back on again. No one has discussed the plan with us. And the orthodontist has to divide time between multiple offices over the area, thus it is extremely difficult to get a decent time for appointments. Our last visit we waited over 30 minutes before I had to inquire about our appointment. Overall, their orthodontist side is lacking structure and effective communication. read more

After not having been to the dentist in over five years, I was a bit apprehensive about going in. The staff was so kind and Dr. Vinny has taken such great care of me. I fully recommend Gentech on 84th Ave. to anyone who requires their services. I have been able to go to several appointments in a row and my teeth feel better than they have in years and there has been very little residual pain after the visit. Great people! DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTAL OFFICE! To begin with had to call multiple times to get appointment set up as they said they hadn't received my daughters referral. Turns out they had it for a month. Receptionist had wrote wrong name.When we did eventually get to see the dentist. He was an hour late. (Emergency came up) Fast forward a month! An hour before my daughter was meant to have her wisdom teeth removed, I got a call from the office telling me the appointment had been cancelled due to emergency. The person that called was rude and could not tell me when I would get a call to reschedule even told me to get a different dentist. When I asked for office manger to call me she said she would give her a message to call me when she got to the office. I did get a call, late that afternoon, with no information of when I would get another appointment, she said she would call me back the following day. Did she call back? NO! My daughter is in pain. Took 2days off work. And this office couldn't care. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! If this is how they treat people I can only imagine how the dental treatment is. read more

My 4 year old daughter Ava found out I had a dental cleaning appointment this afternoon and wanted to go. She wanted to be there for me, but also she wanted to see the dental team working on my teeth. She's been saying since she was 3 that when she grows up she wants to be a Dentist. I didn't know if the Hygienist had time to talk to Ava, or if she could go back with me to the patient room; I was kind of worrying in the waiting room. The Hygienist that I had was Mila, and she gave an experience that was beyond outstanding to not just me but for my little girl. She made Ava 's dream seem more of a reality. Ava got to wear gloves and a mask, watched the hygienist do a great job with cleaning my teeth, and she learned how to use the suction. I was so happy to see my daughter so happy, and it was all to Mila making my dental cleaning session a great one AND our day a great one! THANK YOU MILA!!! read more

I am in my 60's and have been going to a lot of dentists. Dr. Arlauskas is the nicest and very gentle dentist that I have been to in a long time. He explains "everything" in detail for you. He is very concerned about making sure that you are comfortable. I had a front tooth that was almost hidden behind the other front tooth and has been that way for years. I had an extremely negative experience at gentech. I was told that I had advanced periodontal disease and would lose my teeth. He barely even looked in my mouth. This did not sound true to me so I got second and third opinions. According to two other trusted dentists this is not the case, I don't even have gingivitis. The only reason I can imagine why he would make such an irresponsible claim is that I was using my OHP insurance, and they probably don't get very much money for preventative care. Beware of Vincent Colasurdo, especially if you are using OHP. read more

This is a wonderful. friendly and professional office. Dr. Vincent Colasurdo is the absolute best there is! He is technically superb and treats his patients with caring, dignity and respect. I am moving 2 hours away but will gladly make the trip just to be treated by Dr. Colasurdo. I had an issue with a crown put on by another dentist and he made it right without any issues or problems for me. Give this young dentist a try! You will not be disappointed!
