It's a cute little location for a bike shop. I will let the public know about this. It's a cute little location for a bike shop. However they are not that friendly to customers and they're not that helpful like some bike shops are in Portland. And they don't carry bicycle rain pants they tell people to go spend $300 $400 at Dick's sporting goods when most bicycle shops have bicycle ramp pants in the shops. And they do not have a very good selection on bicycle jackets. In my strong opinion this is not a bike shop to go to until they can make changes and do a better job and start carrying more and better merchandise including bicycle rain pants. They can learn from bike shops in Portland including from NW pro gear. read more

I'm not sure why there are a few negative reviews for this bike shop. My experience today was great when I rode in with my electric bike. The two guys at the front were super friendly and knowledgeable. The most important thing to me is that I took my bike in fully expecting to buy new brake pads. The guys said it was not necessary and that the sound I was hearing from my tires was normal. Honesty from a business is a big deal! They also fixed my kickstand and corrected a clicking sound that was coming from one of the pedals. To top it all off, he tightened all the loose screws on my bike. All this for $20! I was so thankful that I purchased a brand new bike helmet! read more

Brought my 3 year old in to look at the store and get him a bell and light for his bike. A woman asked if we needed help and we told her about the bells which were behind the counter. She asked which one we wanted to see and I said we would like to hear what they sounded like and she straight up said " I don't have the patience for that". I laughed thinking she was messing around but she wasn't. She was very uncomfortable to be around. She shouldn't work a customer service job. This was my second time being in this store and my second bad experience with them. We won't return. read more

So, let's start off back in March/April of 2024 when my roommate put together a department store brand bike that I had specifically bought online. All the correct parts came with the bike and got installed as-best-as could with NO problems. The first place I took my trike to to ensure that my roommate didn't skip anything when it came to putting its parts on correctly and Gresham Bicycle never failed me and did things correctly as a NEW customer and the front desk lady told me if there was anything going wrong with my trike to take it to their shop to have work done on it no questions asked. All was good until my first trike was stolen out of Walmarts bike rack in front of one of their stores in November 2024 and I had to RE-purchase the SAME trike with the SAME color in which the 2nd time around I hired a mobile mechanic to come to my house and put the same trike together in Jan/Feb of 2025 and after that, took it back to Gresham Cycle to make sure that the mobile mechanic didn't make any mistakes it putting the trike together. All was good and Gresham Bicycle hadn't failed me YET. Fast forward to last two weeks of July/ First week of August 2025, came into Gresham Cycle to explain (to the blonde haired gal that works the front "desk") that my trike had been making "loud screeching noises" on both sides of the rear axel for the left side AND the right side, they proceed to quote me saying that it was my rear axel bearings that were going out and that they needed to be replaced and that it would cost me $150. Cool, so I gave them my trike and it was "fixed" within two days and they charged me $104 to change these bearings in my rear axel. Everything went well, until my bike started to make the same screeching noise that I originally made complaints about so I took it back the same week telling them the screeching noise wasn't going away and they told me "we will take a look at your bike and you can come back in a few hours." Came back within four hours just so they (blonde haired gal) could tell me how much my $305 store bought bike was a "piece of s***" and that the guy who works on people's bikes there had to "weld together the metal bar" that goes in the rear axel and that if it continued to make the screeching noises that THEY (Gresham Cycle) wouldn't be able to service my bike anymore and that my trike was a "toy" and should be used for leisure purposes only. OH, and to insult me more by saying that I "needed a commuter bike with a folding trailer that attaches to the back of a regular bike with a hitch." because she felt that I needed a bike that's used as a "tool" instead of a "toy" like she was making reference to my trike. MORAL to the story here folks is DO NOT take your beloved bicycle, trike, OR maybe even your BMX bike here. They will lie to your face and take YOUR money without performing the proper service that's needed. OH, and if you call them out? They will be happy to burn whatever bridge they had with you by telling you that you need a NEW bike and if you come back with the bike they are dissatisfied with, they will NOT help you anymore because GRESHAM BICYCLE or whoever the owner is, feels some-type-of-way about store bought bikes. Gresham Cycle has NO problem with playing "favorites" with new customers but you can hope and pray the owner doesn't change his attitude into distain and write you off as a loyal returning customer. read more

I haven't been to Gresham Bicycle for 10 years or more and I remember we had a good experience. So I went there today with a bike of my friends that had a piece broken. The guy that put the new piece on was nice and explained things. But when my friend had a hard time putting the chain back on, I took it back. The owner, a woman greeted me with "your back". I explained that I needed them to put that back tire back on. I would pay for that. I asked her if I had the bike checked out what would it cost. She said $175 and the guarantee was 30 seconds-3 feet. I thought well we will try it out after she fixed the tire. She was saying the owner of the bike doesn't know what they are doing. That they did not put the tire on correctly and when she was done I said what do I owe you. She turned her back and walked into the bike shop saying nothing. She had also mentioned the bike was not worth putting money into. Well isn't that my choice? Then I returned the bike to my friend and he looked at the derailer and he said it didnt look right. He also reconnected the brakes which the bike owner did not do. When he rode uphill about 10ft and then down, the derailer broke and the chain jammed. I went back to Gresham Bicycle and told the owner what happened and she said I told you that the bike was clapped-out. She also said (with 2 kids in the shop) there is no FUCKING WAY that she will work on the bike. She will not be responsible. I knew already that she was not going to be responsible when I left her shop the last time. But she flat out said I don't want that bike in my shop and will not work on it. Is this how an owner talks to a paying customer? Owner was rude and was telling me things she had no idea about. But I was not rude to her, I just asked some questions. Where is the respect, especially to an elder? I never got upset but she seemed mad and had a very bad attitude. I will NEVER go to that shop and would not recommend it to anyone. I am not someone who uses or likes to hear the F word. Don't know how she stays in business!!! If I could rate my experience a (negative) -5 stars, I would. read more

Bought a bicycle at a thrift store a Miyata Shoreline from the 1980's. It is in good condition for its age. It needed a good cleaning and a tune up. I decided to try Gresham bicycle and told the owner that I wanted to help support my local bike shop. A couple of days later the bike was done. No problems with their work they even re tapped my water bottle bolt holes. I thanked them for helping me. Every time I went there I was polite and would ask questions. The owner is not a nice person and treats paying customers with disdain. She has a bad attitude. I wanted to replace the stock wheels with double wall rims with stainless steel spokes. Thats when the trouble started and the owner turned on me. She said she orders her supplies in 2 weeks so I waited and came back to inquire about the wheels. She said I don't need them and I don't ride my bike. How does she know what I do or don't do? What kind of business owner tells a customer what they should want and refuses to even help? I asked what options there are. I have a road bike that is from the late 80's that The Outer Rim got for me 4 years ago. I suggest giving them your hard earned money instead. The Gresham Bicycle owner is easily annoyed and rude. She said my bike is too old. I tried to talk to her like an adult and mentioned the BMX parts that people buy to improve their bikes. She got mad and I said there are other bike shops and she told me theres the door. I will never go back there again. . How she stays in business is a mystery. 2:17 pm July 11 went in to talk about having a few of my high end bikes serviced for new tires and a general maintenance repairs I wasn't sure what I wanted and wanted to look at tires. The girl at the front counter was generally rude and when I walked to the back to look at tires she started to talk bad about me and was disrespectful like I couldn't hear her. I immediately told the gentleman in the back I have just changed my mind about doing business with this company. As a large business owner my self I would never approach a quality customer in this manner but rather help him or her find out what they need and show them options. Helpful staff got me the tire I needed for my husband. He is the bike person not me so I had no clue!!

Went in to grab a helmet and the gentlemen at the front was fairly kind. I asked some questions and he helped me take a look at all they had to offer. I found some that I thought my wife and kids might like so I went out to the car to bring them in. As we walked in a woman kept looking at us suspiciously. She went behind the counter and as my wife was trying on the helmet I was thinking of purchasing, I asked the woman a question about how snug the helmet should be. She rolled her eyes and said in a condescending tone that it "shouldn't give you a headache" and I brushed it off and said that I just wanted to know if the padding shrinks after wearing, etc. I then handed my two little girls a helmet that I wanted them to try on and the woman came around and in a very put out way told them about getting away from the glass at the display that is apparently from 1912 or something. My girls were laughing with each other but far from misbehaving; in fact they weren't even touching the glass. After she spoke to them she rolled her eyes again sighed loudly. We felt like we were such a nuisance to her that we decided not to buy all 4 of the helmets and instead left. Very rude woman. read more

These small shops, packed with every flavor, in town really remind me of my youth and the days of ridding our bikes to the bike shop to gawk over all the new models, upgrades, and just general window shopping. There is nothing quite like your local bike shop or skate shop when that is your world. Years later my one 'go to' bike I built spoke by spoke years back is still collecting dust. I came here to grab a new seat for my wife as her's was stolen, and (4) new tire tubes for us to ensure that we get back to where we started from. Walked in and I saw so many names I haven't thought of in years, this place is well equip for the size and the staff is very friendly. We borrowed some tools, swapped out the tubes, threw on the seat, and got on the road. The gentle man that worked there was a great guy, we spoke on the odd niche market of fixed gear/track bikes set up like BMX for tricking, old school ten speeds, and general stuff I seem to have forgotten about in the years since I was on a bike 24/7 (pre-kids) The location is close to the spring water corridor and that is a huge bonus as it is a great place to ride without dealing with cars. I went in June to get a tire, and was shocked at the lack of masks. Called today, hoping things had changed, to ask if they finally got around to doing some basic pandemic stuff - primarily masks - which no-one was using on my last visit. Nice guys. Good place to buy a bike. Reasonable selection, and not too busy so you can get help directly. I'm a relative newcomer to bike commuting, and they gave me good advice, and a reasonable deal on a bike that fit my budget. With the bike purchase, they included a free tune-up. When I took the bike in for the tune-up, they did some minor adjustments but reccomended that I hold off on the full tune-up until later since the bike really didn't need it yet. I bike ride in constant fear for the most part. I get SO nervous when another bike is passing me, and a car? Feggitaboutit. If I feel as much as a breeze from them passing me I start shaking. I actually was on a bike path a while back and folks were WALKING but they were crowding me, so I fell in to the bushes! I am not lying! I need a sign that says "Caution, keep away, may fall over for no apparent reason". I needed a little work, on my bike. I've been in here a few times. The owner is extremely kind and just real down to earth kind of a guy. He's an older gentleman with a white beard and long greyish hair. I feel comfortable leaving my poor bike with him to fix. He always has a little bit of advice about your bike when you come and get it and he does not charge very much at all. I've actually heard him tell others no charge for fixing a flat and they are ever so grateful. He's rather busy so you have to be patient however. They are in the back of the store a lot because they are working on the bikes. Anyway, lucky for me, he's not that far from my house so walking my bike over there does not take that long. read more

Over the past 20 years I have bought four family bikes and had several repaired and tuned up at Gresham Bicycle Center. Always had great service and prices. I recently bought a high-end bike and discovered at my age I needed something "tamer." I brought the new bike in for a trade-in. I wanted to down size and get a small amount of cash to compensate for my loss. It would seem to be a good deal for both. However, it felt like I was in a used-car dealership. The woman helping me offered me $150 on a $2200 bike. I felt like I was being cheated. Needless to say they lost not only that bike sale, but a lifelong customer as well. read more

Oof, my wife and I just bought a house a block away and we're excited to be so close to a local bike shop. We walked to the shop about 45 minutes after they opened, the entire staff was smoking outside and a lady attempted to stop us as we approached the door (pretty obviously so she didn't have to go inside and could have more of her cigarette). We had plans to buy a fair amount of parts and accessories but the service was so terrible we got one thing and left. This is a great shop if you're looking for nothing but 2nd rate brands and 3rd rate service. Pro tip, go to a real bike shop where people care. read more

My son had these folks box his Giant City Escape for his move back to The Midwest. I was blown away! They will never see my son again, yet they treated his bike like it was $5000 and he'd be going there the rest of his life. I ran a shop in the late 70's. This is my own son and even I would not have packaged this bike so well. You can really tell that folks in that area understand bicycle commuting. Love my LBS's, but no one here would be so careful with an entry level bike. It might have been the easiest bicycle assembly I have ever done. read more

Phoned ahead and spoke with someone on phone that was helpful, offered a phone quote based on what I inquired about - the price for service was MORE than fair - Took my bike in - the white-haired guy with the beard was the one i spoke to - ( i can only assume he's the owner ) after a couple days - my bike was ready - the final price? the exact amount quoted on the phone. wow. Pulled up in front of the shop and the door was surrounded by people smoking. Not even going to look because of this. Dale is the magician in the bike shop. He tells it how it is and gets to working on your bike as if it was his. This shop is a hidden gem and one that if you haven't taken your bike there, you need to. The team there is super nice and even talking on the phone with them it was more about what I needed and how they could solve it. I never felt pressured and had a great conversation while I waited for my road bike to get a derailleur adjustment.
