This is the fourth local shop I have been to in the past 2.5 years and the FIRST to have me leave Satisfied with the work and customer service provided. Mike and the rest of the staff at Greg's took excellent care of me and my vehicle - they were thorough and fixed what they said they were going to fix - in the time and for the amount they said (AMAZING!). This is the first shop to 1) Listen to my concerns, 2) Address those concerns, and 3) Never push anything I didn't need / pressure me to do more than I was able to. This was also the first shop that didn't treat me like I don't know anything because I'm a woman (this still happens - way too often). Okay service but if you are a young adult or female you will get taken advantage of!! I am a freshman in college and went there and saw that it was just 150$ to get the car scanned and i told him some things that were wrong with the car and didn't tell me there was an additional cost until after. I tried to ask him and tell him why he charged me an extra 150$ and he just kept saying i signed the paper instead of explaining it to me when i told him. And also when i did pay i went to go start my car and it wouldn't turn on!!! 300$ to look at my car and doesn't even work at all now. from greg's wouldn't recommend to anyone. They jumped my car and 2 minutes after paying him my car completely stopped working and doesn't work at all! After 4 days of having it. I can only use so many words to express my sincere gratitude for the service I received at Greg's Garage. My vacation ended abruptly in Tahoe with a car that would not stop overheating and I could not make my way back home to Orange County. With a recommendation to Gregs Garage, and the only ones out of the 13 other shops I talked to, they were the friendliest and most helpful on just the phone! Towed my car down to Reno on a Monday evening right before they were closing. By Tuesday around 9:30 got a call with a diagnosis and a projected time that it could be done. Sure enough my car was done sooner than we hoped for and was told. Besides the fact of the quick service on a really big job that needed to be done to my 2001 Toyota 4runner, the quality is what topped it off. David was amazing to say the least. Explained everything that was going to be done in detail, never promised more than what he could guarantee to be safe, but still pulled through on everything. Never in my experiences with auto shops have I ever experienced a kinder and honest person than David and the whole staff at Gregs. We picked up my car around 5 pm yesterday and got home at 3 am this morning with absolutely no overheating and got to use the AC. And I got a copy of all the notes and all the parts that were changed and a very thorough warranty program thats even covered by me in Orange County. I had my Toyota Tacoma towed to Greg's Garage after I saw smoke coming from my engine, after running some tests they told me that my head gasket was cracked and that I needed a new engine and said it would cost around $6,000, it also cost me $40 for whatever tests they claim to have run. After hearing that I took it to another mechanic for a second opinion, the other mechanic told me that the radiator had gone out, he replaced the radiator and my truck has been running great ever since. I'm glad I got a second opinion. I will never take another vehicle to Greg's Garage again. read more

I had 3 basic preventive maintenance performed on my car, A oil change a tire rotation and belt change and they charged me $500 , for something that should have taken at most 2 hours but ended up being 4 1/2 hours, I would not recommend them to anyone, they play the game when you walk in, they also never gave me a quote. read more

It is really unfortunate that Dave retired from this place. My boyfriend and I have taken our vehicles (total of 5 between the two of us) here many times now. My most recent and last visit was about two weeks ago when I took my 09' Impreza down just for an inspection. I suspected my rack and pinion needing to be replaced. They confirmed those suspicions and charged me $114 for it. I was at work so I asked if they can leave my keys in the car (this is the normal procedure for us) and I'd come pick it up with my spare keys after I got off. A guy named Jeff said, "That's fine, what's your CC number." I said, "Okay, well what is the total first?" "$114"..."Does that include my AAA discount?"....."Oh, no...take $10 off that total then."...."Ok" Turns out, he didn't take the $10 off my bill. It's petty, but that's not really the point, now is it? If a mechanic isn't honest or have any integrity, they really aren't worth my time or money. Will never go there again. After the thousands of dollars we've given them, it never occurred to me that I was being taken to the cleaners, because Dave was always awesome to work with and, for the most part, they did a good job. read more

I had a very bizarre scenario happen with my car (electrical of course). I dropped my vehicle in the morning, unsure as to whether or not the problem would be found and fixed. About 2 hours after I dropped it off, I got a phone call they they diagnosed the problem and estimated another 1.5 hours to fix it. 3 hours later I got another call. The problem was fixed and they EVEN fixed another fuze issue I was having. They said though it took them longer than they estimated to me, they WOULD NOT charge me more. Yes their hourly rate is more expensive, but they know their s@!t, and are lightning fast. I got my car back same day!! Can't beat that! Had to get my baby towed to the shop due to an Anti Theft killing my baby. They had showed me the part that was needed and gave me the final price over the phone. They fixed it up and made sure that it worked and even started it up before letting me go. David, the best guy there with the best sense of humor in the place. I took my car into Greg's because the control for my a/c vents wasn't working right. It didn't take long for them to correctly diagnose the issue, and now everything is working great. In addition, I was able to have a few other minor things fixed at a very reasonable price. The guys up front, especially Jeff Berrey, are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I never felt pressured to have additional services performed on my vehicle like I have at other shops in town. The repairs and their cost were explained to me up front, which I appreciate. My car had a major break down and I decided to take my car to Greg's. I have heard they were a little pricey and that they take advantage of people by charging way to much for people who do not know much about cars. In the end I thought the price he gave me was a fair price, very accurate to the estimate that I received. The employees were all nice and explained everything clearly so that was a plus. The only problem I had, and is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5, was that I brought my car in Thursday night and Friday morning they called me and said it would be done by Monday. Instead, they called me Tuesday right before they closed to tell me my car was ready but I couldn't come pick it up until the morning. They did not have to order any parts or else I would have understood if the job took longer. Other than that inconvenience I would come back to Greg's if I had more car troubles. read more

They charged me $171 to look at my 1995 Jeep. After that, they offered to fix my heater blower for $1200. They will reply to this as they do to all their many negative reviews. Unfortunately we now have had two bad experiences with Greg's Garage. The first simply was a part my husband had recently replaced that they claimed was still bad. We informed them we had already replaced that part and they insisted it would fix the problem and replaced it again. Hundreds later of course it didn't fix the problem, same code failure. Fast forward to just a week ago we noticed a problem with "shaking" when the car was backing up and a loud noise with idling. My husband returned to Greg's garage to give them a second chance and we got 100% taken advantage of. After a few days they couldn't find the problem, almost told us everything was fine, (wish they would have admitted they didn't know what was wrong). Then all of a sudden "they found the problem" They insisted our car needed new engine mounts, $1300. Two days later we get the phone call "Okay we are done, but unfortunately that wasn't the problem." I was beyond disappointed and frustrated. My husband went down to pick up the car and ALL of sudden they knew the problem... "xyz" with the transmission. They knew they messed up, they knew they misdiagnosed the problem. They even said "I'm sure you will never come back" Their advice was to "just keep driving it until the transmission blew up." I can't even right now. I have sat here and thought about this service now for over a week and decided I need to let other people know our experience. Yes they took off $100 dollars off our bill but we still had to pay over $1200 dollars for something WE DIDN'T NEED. Furthermore the advice we were given was "blow up the transmission and we will then figure it out." So, now after TWO experiences, one in which we gave them benefit of the doubt, I can not recommend them to anyone. read more

I took the car over and dropped it off and they brought me home and they would call when it was done. About four hours later, we got the call and picked up the car. I spent $500 to have a part repaired in the steering column of a 1996 Ford F350. It cost another $400 a few weeks later to have the job redone at the local Ford dealer. They also left the lever that releases the steering wheel tilt inside the steering wheel assembly. They told me I had a leaking fuel pump, I said go ahead and they charged me another $600. I have had positive experiences both times I have worked with Greg's Garage. The first time I had regular maintenance done on my 2016 Subaru Outback. The staff was helpful and made maintenance suggestions for the future but did not pressure me to do things that could be safely waited on. The second time I brought in a 2004 Subaru Impreza that I bought for my daughter. When I had Greg's check it; the results were disappointing. It needed EXTENSIVE repairs just to keep it moving. Mike provided me with a detailed estimate including photos and video of the needed repairs. He helped me prioritize the repairs, and though the total cost was significant, his support and patient explanation of every detail of the process helped me rest assured my daughter would be safe in the car. The surprise for me was when I came to pick up my car and they went over the bill and answered all my questions. Had loud grinding noise behind glovebox on Lexus Rx 300. Googled it and learned it was a common problem of the AC mode servo and air mix servo actuators. Numerous videos on Youtube showing amateurs removing glove box, removing unit, replacing unit, less than 1 hour time and $150 part. Told Greg's Garage exactly what was needed. They called back (10 hours later) with estimate for $1350! They also wanted to do numerous other expensive things discovered in "courtesy" inspection. (BTW-- It is not a "courtesy" when you charge 1 hour labor--$150-- to perform it without my prior authorization.) I flipped out at the price. Jeff said they had to remove entire dashboard--5 hours labor-- to repair. I said no, just go through the glove box. Jeff said he would consult with his tech. He called back 12 hours later and acknowledged they were wrong, it was only 1.7 hours of labor( thru the glovebox) and $150 part. I offered to pay 1.7 x $150/hr labor plus $150 part=$ 425. Jeff insisted on $565. I declined and paid $150 for unauthorized, unasked for, "courtesy" inspection. BEWARE, RUN AWAY, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! read more
