I'll preface this review by saying I can keep a child and a pet alive, but a plant - absolutely NOT, EVER! I wander into Greenwood on occasion while at Farmers Market on Sundays. They often have a nice selection of special little gifts. The plants are great too but I wouldn't dare purchase one, knowing it's life will soon come to an end under my watch. During the holidays they have really cute Christmas tree ornaments. Great little place to "Shop Small" for a nice little gift for someone. read more

Going green for Greenwood! This chic elevated plant and gift store boutique is located on Ventura Place in Studio City right behind the split for its more famous sibling street Ventura Blvd. The Greenwood Shop is between Fonuts (a must) and Joan's On Third of Studio City (sister location to the original near the Grove - just as great). Greenwood carries a big variety of items including accessories, books, bath & beauty, cards (including gift cards), crystals, home decor, kitchenware, provisions, seasonal and more... Even some kid friendly toys/trinkets. Have stopped in on recommendation from my friend Tiffany a few times now and even have one plant that is still doing quite well from here (low light). Parking can be heavy (especially Sundays with the local farmer's market)... So many great businesses around, but you can definitely manage. I tend to go even more green and take the local LADOT DASH bus over that lets off on Laurel Canyon/ Ventura Place or the LA Metro nearby. It is on the pricey side compared to similar plant stores or gift shops, however I definitely try to support when I can and hope you will too! Promised to deliver it to Europe on time for Christmas. They charged me a fortune and send it off with a shipping company that apparently lost it. The shipping company said my only option was to make an expensive international call to locate it. Oh, and I have to pay for a translator because no one in their overseas office speaks English. Whoever is working Sunday morning and answering the phone is extremely rude. I called and kindly asked about their return policy for an incense that gave me a horrible headache and was met with rudeness and a crass attitude by the worker. Not sure what kind of person does that in customer service, but I will never go back to this store now. Too many good shops out there to spend my money at a place who treats customers rudely just by asking questions. Don't buy the incense comes- they're terrible. read more

I almost left in frustration. -Pricing....whyyyy was everything so cute and sooo expensive. I wanted everything but was only able to leave with a $29 ornament. $31 for a basic pothos? Wait? Small deliciosa youngling, $21?? What? This was the killer for me. The trend of plant moms/dad's is so strong it appears to have driven up the market in these boutique shops which is such a bummer. -Lastly, The selection was not as large as I was hoping for. Only 2, not so healthy looking string of hearts, and charging $30? All in all, I would honestly just pop in to say hi to everyone and plant talk for a bit, as well stop in when I am looking for a thoughtful,, unique gift...But sadly not a go to place for plants. read more

I do not have a green thumb. I have murdered more plants than I like to admit. But Jaime and her staff have helped me find not one, but NINE plants that are thriving in my home! One is so happy that she has completely taken over my bathroom window. I've never been able to manage one happy plant, but to have a home full of happy plants has made me feel so accomplished! They took the time to talk about lighting, which directions my windows face, humidity levels of different rooms, and honest care instructions that set me up for success. And when I've fallen short, they've never judged me. We simply talked about what went wrong, and what might be a better option for my home and skill level. They are honest with me, without beig snobs, so I'm not too intimidated to try again. Beyond the plants, I've also found this place to be my go to for gifts. Crystals, candles, jewelry, and even hand crafted cards to top it off. And if you let them know it's a gift, they package it up so nicely! And so many of the items are local artists and small businesses, so I'm not only shopping small, I'm learning about amazing local products. (Shout out to Debbie Bean and PF Candle co!) A million stars for this shop! I ordered a gorgeous tray from them on December 19th online at about 11am. I had little hope that it would arrive by Christmas to San Francisco, but I still paid extra for shipping ($20 for shipping) for it to go faster. (Even so, the Greenwood website said its estimated arrival date was December 26.) But it arrived in San Francisco on December 21 at 11am!!! (48 hours after ordering?!?! AMAZING!) They have an amazing wall of plants to choose from, as well as a number of various accessories such as ceramic pots, aprons, candles, and bath salts. It's a bright and small shop overflowing with plants, ceramic pots, crystals, aprons, candles, matches, incense, and other cool quality items. The plants seem very healthy and well kept. The prices are decent. The parking is located in the back, and if you time it right, there's free street parking out front. It appears business is booming. This is beautiful shop with a sense of healing. Currently battling medical issues and decided to treat myself (single mom who is currently on disability) I told myself it was my birthday gift & that in that moment, I would pretend to be wealthy and buy a few overpriced items. $14 for incense is a lot. When I burned a small amount of it (it didn't smell like vanilla at all) it gave me a headache. When I went back with ALL of the incense-including the one that was partially burned (w/the original box) & asked to exhange it for a different scent they were nice but said they would have to ask the owner. They called me a couple of days later to say they couldn't exchange it. Now I'm feeling guilty for not spending that $14 on something my daughter and I actually needed it. It's a shop with a lot of healing vibes & written messages so I just assumed they'd be kind and let me exchange it. Can't you re-package it with a silk baggy $ sell it for just a couple dollars cheaper? When battling a health condition, you start to pay closer attention to the details of oxymorons and empathy. $14 is alot of money for me. I'm disappointed but I'm sure my physical pain is making me feel more upset than I should. No refunds, no exchanges here. read more

Although I pride myself on not being part of the 'sheeple' in most things; there is one stereotype I admittedly neatly fit into: that of a boho plant mom obsessed with succulents, cacti and also tropical plants. My apartment - and my balcony - is the epitome of the boho esthetic complete with woven tapestries, macrame and rattan and wicker, galore. And of course plants! I love these babies and I talk to them and treat them like pets (I think they love me back!). The unfortunate death of one of my longtime cacti meant I was in the market for new plants (although, who am I kidding, I am always wanting new plants!); and intended to find my new love in a local shop rather than a large nursery or Home Depot/Lowes (I also suggest Facebook Marketplace). I was thrilled when I heard about a boho-style plant shop and couldn't wait to check it out and potentially score a new plant. Was it all that I hoped? Let's find out... Greenwood is located on Ventura Place near the intersection of Laurel Canyon in the small strip behind Ventura Blvd by Joans on 3rd, Big 5, etc. For you locals, there is where the Studio City Farmers Market is held on Sundays. Street parking is meter-only so make sure to bring some quarters (it can also get congested). Let's be frank: Greenwood is adorable in terms of appearance. Walking into Greenwood transports to an Etsy page come to life with a large square footage real estate, high ceilings and airy, summertime feel; complemented by plants, plants, and more plants! Big, small, tropical... leafy plants everywhere! Greenwood purely specializes in indoor plants but don't expect many by the way of cacti and succulents (although they had air plants) and more so in the vein of snake plants, nerve plants, monsteras, etc. You can also find cute clay pots and giftable boho-themed treats. Greenwood IS a cute shop, no doubt. However, there were many 'wrongs' in the 'right'. First of all, the energy is simply off. In such an environment, you expect great customer service and a happy, almost zen-like feel. There was none of that. Granted, I arrived about 25 min before closing to a female associate (didn't grab her name) and Brandon, who was cleaning. It was evident they didn't want me there and I could feel it. I continued to feel this way when I was speaking to the female associate explaining what I was looking for and asking questions about the plants. She didn't genuinely seem like a plant enthusiast and the entire store just felt sort of Hollywood phoney as though Greenwood is simply following a trend. She wasn't rude or anything... but it was not what I expected especially when I was the only customer. Ironically, Greenwood LITERALLY posts on Craigslist WEEKLY looking for new store associates and the job postings claim that you must know EVERYTHING about plants and have excellent customer service. So perhaps they haven't been hiring successfully or I don't know what the issue is... The second major flaw was the condition of the plants, themselves. Many were in poor shape: dry leaves, under-watered, not in proper sun (or lack thereof), etc. I have seriously seen plants in way better condition at Home Depot. Not saying they were all bad but enough that once again, I felt like Greenwood doesn't 100% know what they are doing and it is all an image-thing. The female associate also didn't know everything about plant care which was reflected by her sort of looping answers. I actually tested her by asking about some plants I know about. She failed. Prices were another weakness. Greenwood is NOT cheap ($18 for an air plant?! You kidding me?!). It is understandable to have higher prices being a boutique plant shop; but then the quality of the plants should be amazing. Their snake plants looked on death's edge and these are hearty and almost immortal plants. I have a ton of them around my home and they are healthy and happy. I wanted to leave Greenwood without making a purchase but felt pressured due to the time I browsed and it being near closing but I definitely felt the pain in my heart and wallet. Blah. Listen folks: Greenwood is visually pleasing and fits the California boho vibe perfect for your Instagram photos. But that is all it is: image. I wouldn't call this boutique plant shop a love child. It is cute when window shopping but one visit is probably enough and not your go-to plant shop. Oh well... onwards to the next plant paradise! read more

I am new to plants and was helped by the friendliest, kindest, most knowledgeable salespeople. They explained what plants would be good for me and then helped me deliberate for 30 minutes. They even put them in the planters i bought at target, adding soil and boxing them up for me. I'm so pleased with my plant selections and highly recommend this shop. This is a very cool shop. The employees are helpful and knowledgeable. They know their products. The place is dog friendly (the shop is small so, if you have a big dog with a big wagging tail maybe have your dog sit rather than break merchandise). I really love window shopping at this place. They have such a cute aesthetic and a really good selection of small artists' work. I can't comment on how healthy their plants are as I've never gotten any plants here, but the other things they keep stocked are always cute and interesting. I find it strange that a lot of people's reviews of this place included docked stars due to price and parking LOL Guys...it's Studio City/ North Hollywood... duh there's no parking and duh on the general pricing. That's just the area you're in. I actually feel like, for a small business in this neighborhood, their pricing wasn't too bad and also their customer service is always super nice and friendly when I come in to browse (and usually I'm not even buying anything lol...they're still really nice and always greet me). Because I have an insane plant addiction that has only been heightened during this pandemic, I decided to finally make a purchase from this charming little plant shop I've been following on Instagram for a while. They always post the best stories about their plants and how to style/care for them, and I was so happy to finally support this shop! I went back and forth with them with some questions about which plants would ship well and they were so friendly and responsive (something that I really take to heart!). I ended up picking up a few decorative plant stakes, a mister, and a gorgeous moonlight sansevieria and pot. My order came neatly packaged and I was able to easily re-pot my plant into her new home. I would love to visit this shop in person one day, but for now I will continue to support and admire from afar! read more

This morning as I was strolling through the Studio City farmers market, I popped into Greenwood to find my best friend a little birthday gift. 12/10 experience! The kind man at the front desk / cash register helped me pick out a cute birthday card, candle, and gift bag. It was also super nice of the staff to bag up the gift w/ tissue paper and make it look really cute. This will be my go-to gift shop from now on. Side note - At 11:11am, the cashier blurted "11:11, make a wish!" and the few people in the store, including me simultaneously took a moment and made a wish. It was so wholesome lol read more

The shop was actually quite smaller than I expected, and they sell a lot of other things such as pots, candles, and plant accessories. Shop attendants were helpful and very nice. So so wise and patient as I asked them a million questions and showed a dozen photos of my plant babies. I didn't feel pressured to buy anything but they introduced me to a tool to help with gauging soil moisture when I shared that was something I struggled with. I stopped by looking for holiday gift plants and my eyes were gazed at the beautifully curated wall of plants worthy for an Instagram post. They also have a nice selection of hand made ceramics, crystals, and green thumb couture. I was warmly greeted by Erica and Molly who exuded such positive energy and were so welcoming and helpful in finding the perfect plants and ceramic pot pairing. Molly graciously planted both plants in the ceramic pots without charge and Erica helped me bring the plants to my car. They have a parking lot but there was plenty of street parking as it was a Sunday. Will definitely spread the word of this wonderful small business. read more

I absolutely adore this local shop. They have an incredible selection of plants, stunning pottery and other unique home goods. Not only is their store gorgeous, it's also warmly inviting. Their staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly every time I come in.
