I just LOVE this lovely gift shop!!! It is truly amazing how well the Owner, Michelle Gagnon, utilizes the space to display all of the wonderful and incredible items she has found. There is literally something for everyone! This store is beautifully put together and while there is an abundance of gift items to choose from, it is so impeccably displayed, you can literally see everything. There is always someone there to help you find something great...even if you don't know what you are looking for! This store is a true Jewel of Studio City! read more

What a great find this little shop is! There are a lot of treasures throughout the store. I went looking for a gift and left with a few things I couldn't resist buying. I don't live in the area but this is my go to store for fun, unique gifts. Thank you Kristen for your help! read more

Amazing shop, I've always found something unique and wonderful. All price points, I've gone in after a bad day and found a little something to cheer my mood. I purchase most of the gifts I give here and they have free wrapping!!!! And my husband knows to buy all my gifts here read more

This place has all sorts of interesting things to buy. Everything from beautiful pieces of jewelry, to plush gifts for a new baby. Beware that once you enter, you will want to purchase everything the store has to offer. The prices are pretty moderate, but some of the jewelry comes with a pretty hefty price tag. If you're in search of unique and different gifts, this is definitely the place for you. read more

I love Emerald Forest. This store has the most unique items I have ever seen. There is everything from fine jewelry, cook books, coffee table books, mirrors, etc. For Mother's Day I was looking for the perfect gift. I found it at Emerald Forest. My mom travels a lot for work. I found a cute pair of travel size slippers that folded into an overnight toiletry bag. She loves the slippers and takes them with her everywhere! This store also has everything you would need to make your home seem warm and cozy. Two thumbs up for the Emerald Forest. Ariel Johns read more

I had been looking forward to visiting this shop all weekend but when I went in today I was really disappointed. There was only one other costumer in the shop and it took about 10 minutes for someone who worked there to even say hello to me. The one other costumer was a friend of someone who worked there and was chatting in front of one of the jewelry cases. She put her large purse and scarf on the counter and didn't move from that spot for about ten minutes. I looked at everything near the case and made it clear I was trying to look into the case but neither she nor the salesperson would acknowledge that I was there. I tried to interrupt their conversation to ask if i could look at the case but neither cared to notice me. I was looking for a ring similar to one that my friend had just purchased from the shop earlier in the week and was ready to buy it on the spot but since they were not helpful they lost my business. I won't be returning. read more

It's a lovely store with great items. But I agree with some of the reviews. Do not expect good customer service. Very black and white policies. read more

I am a regular at Emerald Forest...yet, each time I walk in...I find something new and exciting that delights me! The girls who work there are warm, helpful and friendly. The selection of jewelry is so eclectic ..I can always find what I am looking for from prices not very high..to the more expensive pieces. There is an interesting selection of clothing and accessories, and always just the right thing to get a guy..if you're of the mind! This is one of my favorite places to shop, browse and just stop in...You will never be sorry you did!! The owner, Michelle, has a wonderful sense of design and always has beautiful and unique selections! read more

I absolutely LOVE this store. I come in every time I need a gift. You'll never find a better selection of unique, thoughtful, and desirable items. And such variety... jewelry, bags, decor, kitchen, entertaining, art.... I've actually never bought myself anything--only because gift giving here is such a happy experience! read more

First off, let me say I am a big believer in supporting local small businesses. This is why I came to buy reading glasses here. I frequent and support Bellwood Bakery next door then came upon this lovely gift shop. On Feb. 4th, I went in and tried on quite a few. The women there were very helpful. They let me know that if I bought a pair I could return them as long as they weren't damaged so I felt okay about purchasing. I was very careful not to use the glasses but just try them on for my agent to see. The glasses still had the sticker on them and were never worn. I needed them for auditions. "Too big for your face" she said, so I went in to exchange them the next week. Again, the women there were very helpful but informed me that though I couldn't return for cash I was more than welcome to exchange them for a new pair. We found a nice match and I was told they could order the pair in my eye strength but they were not sure when the order would come in. Hope, told me she would call me Monday to tell me when. On Monday, I recieved a voicemail telling me that the only thing they could do was order a new pair but no exchange would be granted as the owner, Michelle said no. Wait.....what? I called the next day to speak to Michelle but Denise said she was in Vegas. I am still hoping Michelle does the right thing and allows me an exchange for a pair of much needed glasses that cost a great deal. It's so not okay for employees not to know an owners policy but am thinking the owners policy is perhaps a bit arbitrary. I will let you know the outcome. read more

Love the quality and selection of delicate earrings! Have been coming here as a go-to shop for over 15 years.

This store is a Studio City gem! I love the unique selection and always find the perfect gift. The staff (and owner) are absolutely lovely and so helpful. The wrapping is gorgeous. I can't recommend it enough! It's my favorite place to find a gift in the Valley. read more

Thank god this place is right next to where I work! The sales ladies are all extremely friendly and the store has the cutest stuff. I have never had to stress about whether or not they will have something for a friend's birthday, holiday gift, etc. they really have a great selection. Prices are on the high to moderate end, but in this case you get what you pay for. It's not your usual chatchki store. If you want something wrapped, they do it right there for you which is great. I love this place. read more

I used to shop here all the time, but the attitude and vibe in this store has completely changed-- for the worse!!The sales people follow you around the store, very obviously, watching you as if you're going to steal something. They did this to everyone in the store. It's so offensive, off putting, obvious, and uncomfortable how they were staring and watching me and pretending to busy themselves adjacent to me throughout the entire small store space. I used to be a regular customer, but now I have no interest in ever going back and being treated so disrespectfully. read more

I was over in Studio City getting my teeth cleaned and thought I'd run some errands to try and find a lovely gift for a friend of mine. I love shopping small local shops so I hit up Siri to find one near me and this gem popped up. If you are cruising up/down Ventura and not a local you will blink and miss this place next to a bakery (pity I had already stopped at Coffee Bean). From the outside I though it might be one of those tacky old lady bejeweled purses kind of gift shop, but once I entered and saw the cozy vibe, I was optimistic. They had a nice variety of table/servewear, novelties, baby/children clothing/items and fun barware. I ended up finding some cozy travel socks, a non offensive smelling candle and board game/card set that they were happy to wrap up in cellophane and ribbon for me to present to her. I had to show GREAT restraint to NOT shop for myself after looking at the lovely and delicate variety of handmade jewelry they had on display. It IS a small space and I would err on not brining the children along for mommy's little shopping trip because everything is so interesting and tempting to touch/pick up. The woman handling my transaction did ask if it was a Hannukah or Christmas gift-I responded Christmas, but got bright pink and blue ribbon??? Odd. I will remember and recommend this cute shoppe to anyone in the area to find a unique and lovely gift. read more

Emerald Forest is (and has been for 26 years now), a must-stop for gift shopping. The selection is beautifully curated, and the customer service is warm and friendly. I have seen some other reviews that contradict that assessment, but perhaps it was a question of timing (mornings are best, if you can swing it--plenty of time to browse and chat up the women working there for ideas and recommendations). read more

I've lived in Studio City for almost a decade and thought I was one of the only people who knew of this cute little store that's kind of hidden. I'm so disappointed in them. I bought a little gold necklace from them that I loved. It broke after a week of wearing it. I took it back and they quickly sent it for repair. What I'm not happy about it when I picked it up the owner told me to be careful with it. That it will break again. That anything could break it. Eh? Then she said and "next time they will have to charge for repair?" Are you kidding me? I have gold necklaces I've bought off of Etsy that I've worn for the past 2 years that never broke. Yet, I buy this and she's warning me it will probably break again and that she won't pay to fix it?! Way to back up your merchandise. Needless to say it's the last purchase I'll make there if I have to repair everything I purchase from them. read more

Very few stores offer such quality gifts at such affordable prices. Their turn-around volume is often, so every time I visit there are many new items. Friendly helpful employees that always gift wrap your items so beautifully. read more

Great boutique for gifts! The owner has a good eye for home wares, candles, jewelry, etc.

Beware if you purchase a gift and are a bit tardy in returning it, odds are they won't take it back. I asked for a store credit, but they said they had a business to run and it had been purchased too long ago, and they were sorry. It was under two months so I thought their policy somewhat unreasonable. I too had the same experience as one of the other reviewers waiting for about ten minutes while the ladies were talking, until they realized I was waiting to be helped. The store is cute, but nothing special, and I shall not be going back. read more

Still one of the best independently owned shops around. There are very few stores like this left, sadly. I can always count on the perfect birthday gift for my girlfriends and family at this store. Not to mention around the holidays, they order incredibly cute and very reasonably priced gifts. read more

BUYER BEWARE! If you give/receive a gift from this place, make sure you understand they only give you 14 days to return it--no exceptions and they will not even let you exchange it after that time. You will be stuck with something that is overpriced, ugly and that you can't even re-gift (because it's overpriced and ugly) if you don't get that "gift" back to them within the 14 days. Bad bad customer service. read more

This is literally a gem from the inside out and my go-to place for wonderfully unique gifts. There is nothing I don't adore there so the most difficult part is trying to make a decision. They pack so much taste and beauty into a small space. Last night I arrived and the doors were locked. I saw someone inside but didn't knock as I realized I arrived after closing. As I was walking to my car Michelle called out to me and invited me in. She told me to take my time, and made me feel very comfortable. She was friendly, warm and incredibly patient, including how meticulous she was as she wrapped my gift. Neighborhood places are few and far between and I love to support those that really deliver on every level, so I encourage all of you to make the time to visit this wonderful shop. You won't be disappointed. read more

I am sad to give only 2 stars...its a gorgeous little shop and I love absolutely everything there, I would shop here weekly---only if I was treated like a person when I go in. The first time I went I was checking it out after hearing raves from my friends about it being the perfect place for gifts (and they were right) but when I walked in no one even said hello to me (there was one other customer there at the time). I browsed for a long time and no one asked if they could help. I went to look at the jewelry and no one asked if I would like to see anything. I sort of felt like I was intruding on their little party. I found a bracelet for a gift and felt really torn, I loved it and it was the perfect gift but I felt icky about giving a store that has zero customer service my money. But...I gave them another shot going back to buy a necklace for my assistant's birthday and it was the same. No smiles, no hellos, just a general blah feeling. There were three women there, and not one could attempt to make my shopping experience a good one. I want to go back, I love their merchandise, but I won't support a business who makes no effort with its customers. read more

Emerald Forest is a wonderful place for any gift that you might possibly need! (ok mostly for the female set... but that's what's important right!) They have a wonderful selection of unique jewelry, things that you won't find at Nordstroms. They also have a selection of "eco-friendly" gifts such as Toms shoes and acetate free nail polish, which I love. It is true, being in there makes you want to buy everything! Therefore, don't come here if you are in a rush because you will certainly be late to wherever you are supposed to be! read more

I've been going to Emerald Forest for years. To my husband's dismay, they even know me by my name. I can always find something unique and when I'm searching for a special gift, I know I will always be helped with patience and understanding. Whether it's jewelery, kitchen/home products, purses/wallets and even gifts for kids, they never disappoint. The beautiful gift wrapping is an added bonus! read more

This shop has been a favorite of mine for years. It is usually my go to place for a lot of my gift shopping. However, tonight I was very, very disappointed with them. I stopped in at 6:45 and walked through an open door only to be given a dirty look and told they were closed. I know I am not alone when I say that in this holiday season especially, time and money are extremely limited and I would expect a small neighborhood business to go a little farther to accommodate a regular customer. I work full time and have precious few shopping opportunities. How about a pleasant " take a look around and if you need us to, we will stay a few more minutes." That's the type of establishment that deserves my loyalty. Sad to say I'm going to have to be through with Emerald Forest and head over to the boutiques on Tujunga where my business is appreciated. read more

I have been going to this store for years and have to rave about it. You cannot go wrong buying a gift here. Whoever is doing the buying has absolutely exquisite taste. I can't imagine wanting anything more from a neighborhood gift store. LOVE you, Emerald Forest! read more

I've been meaning to write this review for quite a while. I've received gifts from Emerald Forest and thought it would be a great place to pick up some last minute holiday gifts. I was disappointed by the customer service for a number of reasons. The store was empty. When I went to pay for my 2 small trinkets, I was ignored for more than 5 minutes by the tall young brunette girl behind the counter. She was on the phone and paid no mind to me. Finally, when I got her attention, she rang me up and when I went to pay she then told me I couldn't use my debit card because the amount was under $20. She then told me I could go to an ATM around the corner so I could pay or add another item to hit the "minimum" for card use... The ATM was a Bank of America, which is not my bank and I didn't feel like paying a service fee for withdrawing money for such a small transaction. I understand IF this is the store policy and though I didn't see a sign indicating said policy, I was more disappointed that at after ignoring me, she had the audacity to give me attitude as opposed to providing good customer service. I was a new customer and was expecting more - and now I have no reason to ever return. read more
